00:00What kind of interaction have you had with Myles Garrett?
00:03Yeah, of course, knew that would be a question.
00:06I'm going to leave a lot of that interaction between me and Myles.
00:10There has been some.
00:12There has been some, yes.
00:13This is Cleveland's Sports Radio, 92.3 The Fan.
00:19Morning, Tone.
00:21Kenny, what is going on?
00:22Let's talk some sports.
00:24Big Thursday.
00:29All right, let me switch it up for a second.
00:31I'm going to throw a little curveball.
00:33I was going to talk Cavs.
00:36We don't have to.
00:38Just something sticking to me here.
00:43What?
00:44That was Mike Rudenberg at the end, right?
00:46Yep.
00:47That's the DC, yes.
00:51I didn't like that.
00:53You don't like him talking?
00:55I didn't.
00:56I mean.
00:57It's not like my son.
00:58I don't like that.
00:59I don't like.
01:00I don't like that.
01:01I don't like that.
01:02I liked a lot with the Browns.
01:03I'm going to be 40 soon.
01:05I'm glad I have the reasoning of a toddler here when I hear this.
01:08Izzy took that from me.
01:09I don't like that.
01:11I don't care for it.
01:15All right, can I hear it again?
01:16Can we just play it again without the music underneath if we can?
01:19I'm sorry.
01:20This is that answer if you can.
01:22Sorry.
01:22I know I'm throwing a bunch at you here.
01:24Let's hear that again, please.
01:26What kind of interaction have you had with Miles Garrett?
01:29Yeah, of course.
01:30Knew that would be a question.
01:32I'm going to leave a lot of that interaction between me and Miles.
01:37There has been some.
01:38There has been some, yes.
01:43Okay, so I have been, all right, I've been very like, he's not, until he's gone, he's
01:52here, and tried not to discuss it.
01:55I tried to put a moratorium on, it ain't going to work.
01:58We love a good old-fashioned moratorium.
02:01Man, I didn't like that answer, and the reason I didn't like the answer, is there more on
02:11with Rudenberg here before I go?
02:13That can't be the only, yeah, but is there like a follow-up to any of this?
02:18There's one follow-up.
02:19Okay.
02:20You got it?
02:21What is the, I mean, obviously this is voluntary, and Miles, we know what Miles is capable of.
02:27What is the biggest thing a player is missing, do you feel like, especially with a new staff
02:32coming in, when they're not here?
02:35It is voluntary, and we respect the voluntary aspect of it.
02:40And whatever team you're on, your team, my daughter's softball team, love everybody
02:46to be around, but also understand people have different things, had great communication
02:50with different people, look at this, we're multi-towns, had great communication, and
02:54excited for when everyone's here, to put it together.
02:59I didn't, I didn't like how that doesn't solve anything to me.
03:04Now I'm actually, for the first time in a long time, a little bit concerned here.
03:08At first, I thought that this was show fodder, it's station fodder, the Cleveland sports
03:12talk fodder, I should say, we're not the only show station ever discussing it, obviously.
03:17I didn't like how he answered, is that all we have about him and Miles, is that it?
03:23Yeah, that's it.
03:24Okay, I just wanted to make sure, because I wanted to get the full context.
03:27I wanted to make sure, because I don't like how he seemed to answer a follow-up question
03:32before he answered the original question in that first clip that you said.
03:34Am I crazy?
03:36Am I crazy?
03:37Well, we can play it again, if you want to hear.
03:38Let's hear, like, listen to this, because it's like,
03:40Well, what's the question?
03:42He says, I knew that question was coming, and all the conversation between Miles and I
03:47is, Miles and myself is private, is what he said?
03:50Like, go ahead.
03:51What kind of interaction have you had with Miles Garrett?
03:54Yeah, of course, knew that would be a question.
03:57I'm going to leave a lot of that interaction between me and Miles.
04:02There has been some.
04:03There has been some, yes, yes.
04:05I'm uncomfortable now.
04:07I'm officially uncomfortable.
04:08Yeah, wouldn't you?
04:09I'm officially uncomfortable.
04:11If this was as big a non-story as...
04:14As I've made it out to be?
04:15Yeah.
04:15As I've made it out to be a non-story, yeah.
04:17Wouldn't you, as defensive coordinator, go,
04:20Oh, you guys are coming up with the Miles question.
04:23Guys, Miles will be here when it's time to be here.
04:26We talk every day.
04:27He's so excited about our scheme.
04:30We're excited to fit our version of the scheme around Miles.
04:34We think we have a chance to be the best defensive unit in all of professional football.
04:39And wait till you see this thing rearing to go.
04:44It's going to be awesome.
04:45Like, you wouldn't say,
04:49That stays between us.
04:52Like, you wouldn't say that.
04:53You just wouldn't.
04:54Like, it seems like they're all dancing around the same thing here.
04:57Well, it doesn't...
04:57No, I disagree.
04:58I thought that Todd Munkin was just like,
05:00Yeah, I know I'm getting the question.
05:02He'll be here when he's here, and that's it.
05:03And then I'm hearing Mike Rutenberg,
05:05Or as Owen has coined him,
05:07Mike Ruten, Tootin, Fresh, and Frutenberg,
05:09Which is great.
05:11And it's very Kato Katelyn.
05:13Kato Katelyn to me.
05:14Not Katelyn.
05:15Katelyn to me.
05:16Where it's like,
05:17Ah, I knew that question was coming.
05:18Yeah, I don't know anything about OJ.
05:19I don't know.
05:20Like, it was very...
05:21Never heard of him.
05:22Like, why are you answering the follow-up question
05:23before you answer the question?
05:25And then the second one is just...
05:27It sounds like me trying to make sense
05:29while Lima has me in a corner.
05:31Does it not?
05:33Like, when I'm...
05:33Like, you guys have heard me for years now
05:36with Anthony, backed into a corner,
05:37trying to pick up pieces,
05:38trying to scramble,
05:40because he's got me trapped.
05:42And it sounded like he kind of put himself...
05:45Maybe I'm crazy.
05:46I hope I'm just making a big deal out of this,
05:48and I'm just a little bit worked up now,
05:50because it's 6 a.m.
05:52I tend to be a little bit more emotional in the morning.
05:55Uh, maybe I'm making a bigger deal
05:57about this than what it is,
05:58but I did not like...
06:00I hope I am...
06:01I didn't like the answer.
06:02They're just not acting like this is normal.
06:04Because it sounds like somebody, like,
06:06got to him and go,
06:06listen, they're going to ask you about Miles,
06:08and this is what you say.
06:09And he just was like,
06:10okay, this is what I got to say.
06:11And then it just came out in a...
06:12Like, a word salad.
06:13And he just vomited out the words of...
06:16Yeah, that's between Miles and I.
06:17We're going to keep that.
06:18We're going to keep that.
06:18Well, it's really the only thing for him to answer.
06:20When they ask Munkin things,
06:22you have a quarterback, you know, competition.
06:25You have...
06:26What's the offense going to look like?
06:28You have all the new receivers.
06:29What is there to talk about
06:30with the defensive coordinator right now?
06:33Is the star defensive player coming or not?
06:35Carson Swessinger?
06:39Yeah.
06:40Good.
06:41Denzel?
06:42Okay.
06:43Well, he wasn't there.
06:44He had camp yesterday.
06:44Yeah, what?
06:45Are you guys going to be as good as you were last year?
06:47You guys were awesome last year.
06:48Are you going to be even better this year?
06:52Okay.
06:54I don't like it.
06:55I don't necessarily care for that.
07:00I don't like it.
07:01It just doesn't sound...
07:02It doesn't sound like things are normal to me.
07:05Like, everyone kept saying,
07:06it's normal, it's normal.
07:07He does this every year.
07:09It does not sound...
07:11Now, I know it's new coaching staff,
07:12so maybe you can chalk it up to that.
07:13Okay.
07:14But it does not sound to me very normal.
07:18I don't...
07:19At this point.
07:21So, I'm not crazy?
07:22I know you guys like to get me worked up,
07:24and maybe I'm walking myself into a trap here,
07:26but it just...
07:27It sounds...
07:28It sounds like he's nervous to answer the question
07:30and don't want to say the wrong thing.
07:31And what's to be nervous about?
07:33If things were normal,
07:34there'd be nothing to dance around.
07:37There'd be no eggshells to walk on.
07:38All right.
07:39Call it 216-474-0092.
07:41Tell me I'm just...
07:42Tell me it's just in the morning.
07:43Work with me on this, guys.
07:44Work with me on this, please.
07:46You believe him or not believe him thing?
07:48No, it's not that.
07:50It's just...
07:50It's that I think for the first time,
07:54I think there might actually be something
07:56to all this silliness
07:57that keeps getting brought up with Schrager
07:59and keeps getting brought up with Albert Breer.
08:01I shouldn't say silliness.
08:02I mean, if there's smoke, there might be fire.
08:04But now all of a sudden,
08:05I might see like a flicker of fire around some smoke
08:09when I'm hearing Mike Rutenberg kind of hem and haw
08:11and try to answer questions.
08:13And I mean, honestly, he sounds like...
08:17He sounds like Tom Smokowski in office space
08:20when he's answering the bobs about what do you do here.
08:22Like he's freaking out.
08:23It almost looks like he's freaking out.
08:24People person.
08:25I understand he is a high-energy type of guy.
08:29And like some of his answers will be a little bit overzealous,
08:33overly energetic.
08:35It just...
08:37It didn't...
08:37I didn't like the way it came off.
08:39I didn't like the way it came off.
08:40It makes me think that there actually is something
08:42to all this then.
08:44It makes me wonder
08:45if there is actually something to all this.
08:47Because my whole thing is,
08:48you hired a 60-year-old coach.
08:50Why are you going to trade him now?
08:51Like if you wanted to,
08:53if you get halfway through the year,
08:54we get to the trade deadline
08:55and they're garbage.
08:56Fine.
08:57We want to talk about it then.
08:58Go ahead and talk about it then.
09:00But all this stuff like,
09:01well, they redid his contract
09:03and they do this little thing.
09:04And I'm like,
09:05okay, this is all wishful thinking.
09:06And I get upset about the national shows.
09:08Should the Lions go after him?
09:10Should the Rams go after him?
09:11The Cowboys or the Cow...
09:12Like that type of thing.
09:13And then for the first time,
09:15when I hear a defensive coordinator
09:17who, yeah,
09:18the conversation is important.
09:21And he just immediately goes to,
09:23well, we're going to keep that quiet.
09:25Well, I just...
09:25We asked if you had conversation.
09:27We asked if you talked.
09:28If there was communication.
09:30I didn't ask you.
09:31We're asking if the sun was out today.
09:32Like, I could...
09:33It could have been like whatever.
09:34Like, if I go...
09:36Anthony, ask me,
09:37have you talked to Myles Garrett?
09:39Kenny, have you talked to Myles Garrett?
09:41Absolutely.
09:42We've been in contact this entire time.
09:45You know, Myles,
09:46it's a voluntary thing.
09:48Myles has a lot of obligations
09:50being one of the top stars in the NFL.
09:52We understand that.
09:53And I have full faith and confidence,
09:54obviously,
09:55that we're going to see him.
09:56He's a cornerstone of this franchise.
09:57We're going to see him here very soon here.
09:59during the...
10:00If not sooner,
10:01but during the mandatory minicamp.
10:03You can even go so far as to say,
10:04we talk everything.
10:06We talk politics, religion,
10:07how to raise kids.
10:08It's great.
10:09And if somebody says,
10:10then,
10:10what did you talk about?
10:12It's like, well,
10:13you know,
10:13these are...
10:13I'm going to keep every conversation
10:15between me and players private
10:17unless they want to talk
10:19and then they can go ahead and tell you.
10:21But, you know,
10:21I'm going to keep my players' privacy
10:23to the utmost...
10:24to the utmost respect
10:25in my number one priority here.
10:28But you said something.
10:29That's a terrible answer.
10:30Was that a bad answer I just gave?
10:31I thought that was a pretty damn good answer
10:33compared to what Mike Rutenberg just said.
10:35That was...
10:36You said something.
10:37You said...
10:38Because you've been having trouble
10:40wrapping your head around
10:43why hire Todd Munkin at his age
10:45and then trade Miles Garrett.
10:48Did they hire Todd Munkin
10:50to be a winning coach this year
10:51or did they hire Todd Munkin
10:53to take the worst offense in the NFL
10:56and make it
10:59a developmental situation?
11:01Like, let's...
11:01Well, to make it better than what it was
11:02because it's the worst offense in the NFL.
11:04I don't know about that.
11:05I just keep going back to
11:07did you actually talk to him?
11:08Because it sounds to some level
11:10like you didn't talk to him.
11:13Why don't you just go ahead
11:14and talk to him?
11:15Just go ahead and say things.
11:19Or...
11:19You could just...
11:20You don't have to tell me the truth.
11:22All you have to say is,
11:24yeah, we're in contact
11:24and he's a very busy man.
11:26Obviously, he's one of the premier players
11:28in the NFL
11:28and we're talking.
11:29I have obviously full faith
11:31and confidence
11:31that he will be here
11:33during mandatory minicamp
11:34coming up here.
11:35It's not hard.
11:36That's not a hard answer to give.
11:37Was that a hard answer to give?
11:38They are walking on eggshells
11:40around the Miles Garrett situation.
11:42The question is why.
11:45I've never really...
11:46I never thought Todd Munkin
11:47was dancing around it.
11:48I thought he just answered the question.
11:50He goes,
11:50yeah, I know.
11:50Oh, you guys bring it up fine.
11:51Da-da-da-da-da.
11:52But I never had a problem
11:54with Todd Munkin's answers.
11:55If everything was fine
11:57and this was totally normal,
11:59I don't even think
12:00Todd Munkin would be
12:01in a huff about it.
12:02I think he would be laughing about it.
12:03Like, he's like,
12:04oh, if you guys knew what I knew,
12:05it'd be fine.
12:06Like, come on, guys.
12:07Like, we can have fun about this.
12:09Even say some things off the record
12:10the minute the cameras are off.
12:12They're not doing that.
12:13They're not doing that at all.
12:14It's why people are speculating
12:15the way they are.
12:16Mm-hmm.
12:18I don't...
12:19I don't...
12:20That is...
12:23Okay.
12:24I'm gonna go ahead
12:25and I'm just gonna...
12:26Do I ignore it?
12:28Do you want me to ignore it?
12:29Because that...
12:30Isn't that buried my head in the sand?
12:32I think it's...
12:33At this point,
12:35like, what we have to work with...
12:36I know...
12:37I've seen people on social media
12:39because any of the clips that we have
12:41that our boss puts out,
12:42it's us speculating.
12:43I know.
12:44The day the Cav season's over,
12:45we move on to Brown's controversy, right?
12:49We're just building a controversy.
12:51I don't know.
12:51It seems to me that they fuel it
12:53with answers like that.
12:54Like, this would be a very easy thing.
12:56If I were a coach that was being asked,
12:59if I was a defensive coordinator
13:00or a head coach
13:00and I was being asked about Miles Garrett
13:02and there was nothing to worry about whatsoever,
13:05I'd have a thousand other ways to answer it
13:07than the way they've been answering it so far.
13:10I never had a problem
13:11with the way Todd answered it.
13:13I don't like how Mike Rutenberg answered it.
13:15This is the first time...
13:17You wouldn't be annoyed, though,
13:18like Todd was.
13:19You wouldn't be annoyed at all.
13:20You'd be laughing about it.
13:21No, you'd be annoyed.
13:22You'd be annoyed
13:23because it keeps getting brought up.
13:25I would be annoyed.
13:26I am annoyed
13:26so I can understand where Todd's coming from.
13:29You wouldn't be annoyed
13:30if this wasn't something to be annoyed with.
13:32Like, you just wouldn't be.
13:33Be like, we've got the best defensive player
13:36in the game.
13:36He'll be here in September.
13:38I'm not worried about it.
13:39If it's something to not be annoyed by
13:40and people keep asking me about it,
13:42I'm going to get annoyed
13:43that it's not anything to be annoyed by
13:45that people keep asking me
13:46whether or not I'm annoyed.
13:47If I just kept asking you all day
13:49are you annoyed,
13:50you'd eventually get annoyed.
13:50No, these coaches are so good
13:52at using off-the-record stuff, too.
13:54And once the cameras are away
13:55and going,
13:56hey, hey, Mary Kay,
13:58hey, Daryl.
13:58Guys, trust me, it's going to be okay.
14:00Off-the-record between us.
14:01Like, you would not allow it to fester
14:05if it wasn't something.
14:06Well, wait a minute.
14:06Mary Kay Cabot said yesterday
14:07he's not getting traded.
14:08She was emphatic about it.
14:09Well, we'll have her at 820 again.
14:10We will have to ask her again today at 820.
14:13She said he's not getting traded,
14:14so maybe they did pull her aside.
14:16But when I hear Mike Grudenberg
14:17answer the questions like that,
14:20like, he says he's talked to Myles Garrett.
14:22He's been in communication with Myles Garrett.
14:24Has he been in communication
14:25with everybody else?
14:30They're all there,
14:31so obviously he's been in communication
14:32with everybody else.
14:33Oh, good.
14:34Here's Denzel Ward.
14:35He was at a camp in Macedonia yesterday.
14:37Okay.
14:38Macedonia.
14:39Has he talked to Mike Grudenberg?
14:41Okay, here he is.
14:42Here's an answer.
14:42Even though I haven't been there,
14:44like, I've been with, like, Coach Lynch.
14:46He's been calling me.
14:47We've been getting on calls
14:48and going over the playbook.
14:49And so I've still been learning the playbook
14:50and the new plays that's been going in.
14:52And so continue to do that.
14:54And then, like, so I've been watching
14:55the practices that they've been doing
14:57and how they run the plays
14:58and how guys are looking.
15:00So I'm still involved just from afar.
15:02I'm looking at it from a different view this time.
15:05That doesn't make me feel any better at all.
15:09That was Denzel at his camp yesterday?
15:11But at least we're hearing from Denzel.
15:14Was Denzel asked about Myles?
15:16And was he annoyed by any Myles questions?
15:19What's going on here?
15:22He was asked what he's doing
15:23when he's not at OTAs.
15:25I've just been training, working out.
15:27I got a girlfriend, so I've been, you know,
15:29I got to take her on some dates.
15:31And, no, I've just been working out,
15:33working my craft, and, you know,
15:35getting prepared for when I get back in there.
15:37And, yeah, that's it.
15:38I'm not going to be comfortable until June 9th.
15:41That's the mandatory minicamp, right?
15:43June 9th, I think.
15:44I'm not going to be comfortable until June 9th.
15:47And then if June 9th comes here and he's not here,
15:49well, I'm just going to hide under the table again.
15:51That's the way that's going to go.
15:53If he's there, we can all laugh about it.
15:54I sure as hell hope so.
15:56People, feel free to call us up and to say,
15:59you guys made a controversy out of this.
16:01Here it is.
16:02It's just like every year.
16:03Myles does this every year.
16:04And you know what?
16:04I'll sit here and say, okay, let's go.
16:07Can't wait to see the defense.
16:08Okay, do you think that this is becoming a problem?
16:11For the first time in months, this whole thing,
16:14I am a little bit concerned hearing Mike Grudenberg there.
16:18I didn't like that answer.
16:19Talk me off the ledge.
16:22Social media reactions on X brought to you by
16:23Jive and Jewelers, Cleveland's premier jewelry store.
16:26Tara says, good grief.
16:28We're doing this right out of the gate.
16:30Well, yeah, thanks to the Cavs.
16:31I have to do it right out of the gate.
16:32It's not my fault.
16:34Don't blame me.
16:35Don't even blame Myles.
16:36Blame the Cavs.
16:36We should be getting ready for what?
16:37Game six?
16:38Yes.
16:39Okay, blame the Cavs.
16:40Cavs got swept.
16:41Guardians won yesterday, but we have an off day today.
16:43So this is what we do right out of the gate.
16:45I have a DC who really just does not give a good answer.
16:50Keith, by the way, did not like my answer that I gave to you about Myles.
16:55Why?
16:56Because, guys, I'm having an epiphany here.
16:59And Tara's upset we're analyzing the answer from the defensive coordinator
17:03talking to Myles.
17:03Well, guys, there's a couple reasons why.
17:05One, again, is the Cavs, that they lost, and here we are.
17:08The second thing is, is that he's the best player on the team,
17:10and he's the best player.
17:11He's one of the three best players in Brown's history.
17:14I mean, he really is.
17:15There's Jim Brown.
17:16There's Otto Graham.
17:16There's him.
17:18One of the three best.
17:19That's it.
17:20I mean, there's more great players, but he's, for power ranking him,
17:23he's number three in the entire near 80-year history of the Cleveland Browns,
17:27guys.
17:27Like, it's a long history.
17:30It's been a good history in the past, and he's one of the very best.
17:32Of course, why wouldn't we talk about Myles Garrett?
17:34Like, Myles Garrett is a big deal, and him not being here is a real big deal.
17:38If he's not here when the season starts because of a trade,
17:41that's a really big deal.
17:42Like, we have to get to the nitty-gritty of this.
17:45And for the first time, like, I have, guys, I have sat there,
17:48and I have ridiculed Mike Tenenbaum for bringing up stupid stuff
17:53about the Lions trade, and I've ridiculed ESPN people,
17:56and I have tried to not ridicule just because all they're doing
18:00is giving us what people have said or what people have told them,
18:05I should say, like Albert Breer.
18:06Why rip Albert Breer?
18:07He's given his opinion on why it would make sense,
18:10but he's also said basically, like, there's a lot of smoke out there
18:13in the NFL.
18:15Peter Schrager, nice guy.
18:17There's no point in me ripping him just because he's telling me something
18:20I don't want to hear.
18:20I don't want to talk about Myles Garrett being traded.
18:23Does anybody really want to?
18:24Because it would torpedo the season before it even starts.
18:27So now if they traded Myles Garrett at the beginning of this coming month
18:31or whenever, it would torpedo the year.
18:34And you could say, well, Kenny, they're not going to be that good anyway.
18:36I'd like to at least find out first before we did all this.
18:38So when I – and I've tried to – I've tried to remain calm and say,
18:43you guys are making a mountain out of a molehill, all the different things.
18:47But when I got a – when I got a defensive coordinator, Hemant and Hahn,
18:52and when he's asked a question about whether or not he's talked to Myles Garrett,
18:57I don't like that.
18:58I don't like it.
18:59It makes me nervous, and it bothers me.
19:02And, like, for the first time ever, like, I hear that.
19:06And during the break, I'm sitting here going – like, it's making me do things
19:10I didn't want to do.
19:10During the break, I'm sitting there going, well, I mean, two ones and maybe two twos.
19:15And all right, what else?
19:17Do you have a song attached to that?
19:18No.
19:19A catchy song?
19:19No.
19:20I mean, we could find one soon enough.
19:22Like, that's where I'm at, guys.
19:23Like, I really did.
19:24I know Tara's upset, and I'm sure plenty of other people are upset going,
19:26we're starting the day with this.
19:28Yeah, we are.
19:28Yeah, we are.
19:29Because I'm bothered now, and this is the first time I've actually been bothered
19:33by anything.
19:33Like, you brought up Todd Munkin.
19:35Ken, why weren't you bothered by Todd Munkin?
19:37Well, Todd Munkin is a plain speaking man, and I think he thinks –
19:41he's smarter than me, I'm sure, but I think emotionally,
19:44we start sounding like a lot of ways, do we not?
19:47And I think that he would be bothered by continuously being asked the question,
19:50just like I'm bothered about having to continuously bring it up.
19:53Okay?
19:54So – and I've looked at history, and I've tried to rationalize the history of
19:57going, well, he doesn't really show up to these things.
19:59Which is true.
19:59These are normal things, whatever.
20:00That is true.
20:01But when I – again, when you've got the defensive coordinator,
20:04hummina, hummina, hummina, hummina, hummina, I'm like, all right,
20:07now my antennas are going up.
20:08I'm sorry.
20:08It's just – it's human nature.
20:10It's human nature.
20:11Because you've got a lot of people out there.
20:14There is one camp that there are people out there.
20:17There are people in this station.
20:19Jonathan Peterlin thinks they're winning 10 games, right?
20:21He says 10 and 7.
20:2310 and 7, Browns.
20:24I thought that's what he said.
20:25I want to make sure because I feel bad if I'm –
20:26Well, either way, he's more –
20:27Affixing that to Jonathan.
20:29Jonathan is more positive – or, excuse me,
20:33he's more optimistic about the record than this show.
20:35I said 7, you said 6.
20:37There's a lot of people who are like, man,
20:39they're winning three games this year.
20:40Shut up, Kenny.
20:41This team, these quarterbacks suck.
20:43You ain't doing anything with these guys.
20:44All right, fine.
20:45But there is a very large sample size and wide range of opinions
20:53about where they're going to finish, whether they're really, really bad
20:56or actually really a surprise and really good
20:58just because they got rid of the head coach.
21:00Well, guys, if you're thinking the way Jonathan's thinking,
21:04Miles has to be on the football team.
21:07Miles has to be on the football team.
21:08And you can't give me, well, we didn't win many games with Miles.
21:11Guys, he won the game just being on the field against the Pittsburgh Steelers,
21:15just standing there.
21:16It was the most insane thing I've ever seen.
21:17He won the game.
21:18It was – I saw it live.
21:19I saw it later.
21:20I celebrated it live.
21:21Kenny, you saw –
21:21I put it in Pony's face, the whole thing.
21:23And he basically – he obviously was trying to sack the quarterback,
21:27but he honestly could have stood there.
21:28And Aaron Rodgers was completely preoccupied with number 95.
21:34You saw a Hall of Fame quarterback with one of the most cowardice performances
21:37I've ever seen in the history of the game.
21:39Like, I thought it brought shame upon Aaron Rodgers.
21:42I thought – honestly, I agree.
21:44I thought it was unbecoming.
21:44If I were the Steelers, I think that would have been the last straw with Aaron Rodgers.
21:47If the shoe was on the other foot, I'd say this is a Hall of Fame career.
21:51This might be a footnote, but in this moment, in this time,
21:55it was unbecoming of a Hall of Fame quarterback.
21:58Like, I don't think I would see Tom Brady pussyfooting around the situation
22:02against one of these guys.
22:03Joe Burrow didn't pussyfoot around the situation.
22:05I don't see many of these other guys.
22:07And Aaron Rodgers was just looking at 95 the whole time going,
22:10he ain't setting the record against me.
22:11And he lets him just lose the game because he didn't want the record set against him.
22:14He threw the game away.
22:15That is a major player.
22:17That is a major player and a major cog to what this franchise is.
22:21So they've won games just because of his mere presence.
22:24They haven't won many, but they've won games.
22:26So you can't just sit there.
22:27And I know we tell each other these things all the time to make ourselves feel better.
22:31But if they did move on from him, if I get a call first one out of the box,
22:35don't worry, we're still going to win 10 games.
22:36I'm just going to call you nuts.
22:38I'm going to say you are detached from reality.
22:40And I think most Cleveland Browns fans across the country and across the world
22:44would think the same way.
22:45I don't want to torpedo a season before we started.
22:49Then why did you hire the 60-year-old head coach for the first time ever?
22:52Why are we having conversations about Deshaun Watson?
22:55Deshaun Watson makes more sense with Myles Garrett being on the field than he doesn't.
22:59Because if you don't have Myles Garrett on the field,
23:01and you really didn't even push back.
23:02I had to sit there on the witness stand.
23:04But you didn't really even push back because I'm going,
23:06well, guys, if you're trading away Myles Garrett,
23:08you're telling the world exactly what you're doing.
23:10And if you're telling the world exactly what you're doing,
23:12then why are you playing the guy that nobody really wants to see?
23:15Like, it's just nuts.
23:17And I've been telling people this for months now.
23:20I mean, this has been going on, it's almost June.
23:22This has been going on the majority of five months here.
23:25From the end of the season on, it's been going on.
23:28Speculation, and part of that is just natural
23:30because they're not a good football team,
23:32and he's an exceptional player.
23:34Some of that's natural.
23:35But when I'm hearing the defensive coordinator kind of hemming and hawing
23:38and answering the question, the follow-up question
23:41before he's even answered the first question
23:43of whether or not you guys even spoke,
23:45I'm going, I detect a nervous man in a nervous situation
23:49who doesn't want to answer the question.
23:50Tell me I'm nuts.
23:52What kind of interaction have you had with Myles Garrett?
23:54Yeah, of course, knew that would be a question.
23:58I'm going to leave a lot of that interaction between me and Myles.
24:02There has been some.
24:03There has been some, yes, yes.
24:05So what is going to happen is today, people are going to see this.
24:10I'm going to get killed for it over worrying about something
24:14that we don't need to worry about,
24:15worrying about something that Myles does.
24:17And I'm telling you guys right now, I hope you are right.
24:20I wish and pray that you are right
24:22because I don't want to trade him before the season.
24:25I want to go into this season with some sort of hope
24:27that they can get something going.
24:29I just don't want to sit there and spend an entire 17-game schedule.
24:34All right, what did Texas do this week?
24:36All right, what did Texas Tech do?
24:37Well, that's Brendan Soresby.
24:39That's a different conversation.
24:40Dante Moore over in Oregon.
24:42Guys, we've been through that before.
24:44You know that sucks.
24:45You know that sucks.
24:47Sitting there and worrying more about Saturday football
24:50than anything on Sunday.
24:51We've been through that so many times, and you know that sucks,
24:53and you know that's what I'm trying to avoid.
24:55And maybe if I'm just trying to avoid something that's inevitable,
24:58then fine.
24:59Because I've tried for so long
25:01because I want something right in front of us to matter,
25:04not the future.
25:05Because we're always –
25:06and two years will be good.
25:08And three years will be good.
25:09And all this other crap.
25:11I see some talent on the field,
25:12and I know they need the quarterback to get it going,
25:14and I hope that either one of these guys can actually do it.
25:17But it just seems to be pointless
25:19if we're going to take Myles Garrett off the field
25:21and trade him for future good ideas.
25:23And then, obviously, Andrew Barry has to agree
25:25whether or not that he is so safe in his job
25:27that he'll actually get the chance to pick that quarterback.
25:29Because if you do it before the season,
25:30boy, that's a long time for Jimmy Haslam to sit there
25:34and change his mind as he goes to game after game after game
25:37and watches us lose and look like a bad defense
25:39or look like a worse defense
25:40when we've been a top-four unit over the last three years
25:44with 95 on the field.
25:46I had to get that off my chest.
25:48I am going to get smoked today on social media.
25:51I hope I get smoked on the phones.
25:53I hope Mary Kay says I'm stupid and crazy.
25:56I hope all those things happen
25:58because I don't want the alternative to happen
26:00where people are going,
26:01you know what, the people have been wondering,
26:05they are right.
26:06Kenny, you should be scared.
26:07You should be worried.
26:08As soon as this columnar hits June 2nd,
26:10boy, we are off and running
26:11and it's just going to get worse before it gets better.
26:14Sorry, I've been taken out of the air, out of the room.
26:16Well, do you think this would have all been avoided?
26:18Do you think most of this conversation,
26:21except for like doomers,
26:22which I guess I've been accused of in the past.
26:24But you haven't really been a doomer here
26:25over the last couple of years.
26:26You really haven't.
26:27Do you think this would have been much less of a story
26:31had they not have restructured the contract?
26:33Do you think that allowed the speculation
26:35to kind of run rampant?
26:37I think it was a little bit of a fire log, I guess,
26:44a starter log.
26:46That kind of got the ball rolling
26:47with the thoughts of people.
26:48Well, if they hadn't restructured it, though,
26:50today you'd go, they can't do it.
26:52It's feasibly, it's economically not possible.
26:54But now that they've done the restructure,
26:57you don't have that at least.
26:59That point was something that everybody go,
27:01okay, I mean, Ken's right on that.
27:03Well, you can't do that.
27:04I can't do that anymore.
27:05Like I used to sit there, you're right,
27:07before the restructure, I said,
27:08they're going, guys, he can't be traded.
27:09You can't physically,
27:10you can't put a football team together.
27:12Because before, remember,
27:13we were thinking maybe Deshaun Watson
27:14might be gone after June of this year.
27:16And it's like, man,
27:16if Deshaun Watson and Miles Garrett is gone,
27:18you can't field 53 men.
27:20The dead cap hit is too much.
27:22And the dead cap hit would still be
27:23an exorbitant sum with this,
27:25but it would still be much easier to take,
27:27and then you would get your draft picks back,
27:29and then you're playing for the future.
27:30Like, this is just uncomfortable and unsettling.
27:33And I think that a lot of people just,
27:37I think that we're telling them something uncomfortable.
27:39They don't want to hear about it.
27:41Fine.
27:43But when I hear that from Mike Rutenberg,
27:46it just, it bothers me.
27:47And I can't wait for Mary Kay Cabot to come on at 820
27:50because she told Baskin and Phelps two days ago
27:52that he is not, capital N-O-T,
27:55not getting traded.
27:56And I need Mary Kay Cabot to kind of
27:59soothe my soul coming up at 820 this month.
28:01Maybe we need to bring her on sooner.
28:02We got to wait till 820 to soothe your soul?
28:04She's a very busy lady,
28:05and we've had a lot of,
28:06I mean, this has been a,
28:08820 on Thursdays has been a hallmark
28:10for many, many years with us and Mary Kay,
28:12so I'm not going to,
28:12I'm not going to hurry her up
28:15just to make me feel better.
28:16So, 820 this morning,
28:18the first one out of the box,
28:19I'm going to ask,
28:19is he really,
28:20are they really even considering trading him?
28:22Because when I heard Mike Rutenberg yesterday,
28:24that was like the first time I went,
28:25oh God, I don't like this.
