00:06Hello designers, all five of you. How are you feeling? Are you overwhelmed, excited?
00:14I love it. Everything, yeah. Top five. I can just taste fashion week and it tastes so good.
00:20Heidi and I are so proud of you and we are ecstatic about seeing what collections you're
00:26going to create. We will be giving each of you $10,000 to create 10 look collections, but
00:34not all of you will be moving on to actually competing at fashion week. In fact, we're only
00:45guaranteeing three spots at New York Fashion Week. Oh man, this is not how I wanted this
00:52to go down. You're playing with me. It's like, what the ? When you return, each of you will
00:58present a tool look preview of your collection. And at that point, we will decide who is moving
01:05forward and who is not. Oh man, I knew it. I knew it. Now, before you know it, I'm going
01:13to be checking in with each of you. All right, so get ready for me. And to help you with
01:18your
01:18process, Brother has gifted each of you with the SE 625 embroidery machine. No way.
01:25And it's the... SE! Yeah, how great is that? Designers, this is the time to really bring
01:30it. Show us all you got. Make our jaws drop. Bye guys. Bye. And I'll see you soon. Okay,
01:39see you soon. All right. Off we go.
01:49Be inspired. Be inspired.
01:55First, I'm in Salt Lake City to check in with Ayana. Ayana. Hi Tim. How are you? Welcome to Salt
02:01Lake. I'm so thrilled to be here. How are you? I'm good. I'm happy that I get to have Tim
02:06Walts myself. I don't have to share him with any of the other designers right now.
02:09And I cannot wait for him to meet my mom and my friend Jax. Hello. Hi. Hi. How are you?
02:17I'm Jax. Nice to see you, Jax. I'm Ayana. Hi. What's going on? Oh, I took a bad fall the
02:23night before leaving for the home visits and ended up in the emergency room with a bunch of stitches. Oh,
02:29wow. Yeah. It is so beautiful here and I'm so happy to meet you all. It is beautiful. Has Ayana's
02:34path to getting here been easy? Has it been difficult? What's it
02:39been like for her? Well, her life itself has not been that easy. She's been through a lot. I left
02:46home when I was like 20. I got married really young. And then I did get divorced a couple years
02:51ago. And so just kind of living out on my own after all of that. But I feel like with
02:56every sad thing that happened, you know, something good happens. We're going to head off and look at your collection?
03:01Yes. All right. Okay. Bye, lady. Bye.
03:03Ayana. So lovely to meet you. Thank you.
03:10All right. Here we are. I'm so happy to be here. Oh, my gosh. I'm excited for you to see
03:15everything. My collection is fully modest. It's super important for me to be able to show that on a platform
03:22as huge as New York Fashion Week. So we can start with this one. It's got ruffles. It's sheath style,
03:28but then, you know, has layers and things. Beautiful.
03:31This one was a little bit more casual. And then I paired it with a mini skirt and then these,
03:39like, slacks. The distressing was inspired by the birch trees I took pictures of. I can see. Hopefully. I can
03:45just reach out and touch Fashion Week. Like, it is so close to me. So if I can just get
03:49everything done, then I feel like I have a really good shot to show at New York Fashion Week.
03:54You need to work hard and you need to work smart. Yes. All right.
04:00I want a real homie.
04:08Next, I'm in Atlanta to check in with Kenya.
04:10Hey. Hey. How are you, Kenya?
04:15How come you look so good? You should look exhausted.
04:18Well, I'll receive that because I didn't get much sleep last night.
04:21Well, you look fabulous. I'm so happy to be here.
04:24Want to come on in? I'd love to.
04:25Show you what I've been up to? Yeah.
04:28I had this idea of ocean and sand and sun, appropriately called summertime dream.
04:37My first look, which is this one, this thing with this pleating thing, I can't get over it.
04:42I wish I'd go to something else.
04:45Here's my thought.
04:46Okay.
04:48I have a very positive response to your silhouettes.
04:51Okay.
04:51I am crazy about this palette.
04:55Okay.
04:56And I get it. I got the sea. I got the sand.
04:58But I am underwhelmed by the colors.
05:07Just look at this.
05:10This palette is just going to be a snooze fest.
05:15Coming up on Project Runway.
05:17I didn't want to make you look, like, too cohesive.
05:20Well, if that's what you wanted, you certainly achieved it.
05:23It has a cheapening effect.
05:25Really?
05:26You were sending out a sinking ship.
05:29This palette is just going to be a snooze fest.
05:33You've got to pick it up.
05:35I've got to show it New York Fashion Week.
05:37Whatever it takes, I've got to do it.
05:40Hello.
05:40Hello.
05:41Hi.
05:42Hi, Tam.
05:44These ladies are like the powerhouses.
05:47That's my baby.
05:48That's my baby.
05:48I need to win Project Runway because everything that I have struggled, you know, all the sacrificing
05:55that my mom has made, my family has made on my behalf, at least we can put it on something
06:01and say this was what it was about.
06:03Thank you, everyone.
06:05Have a good trip.
06:06And watch Kenya.
06:07We will.
06:09Bye-bye.
06:09Bye-bye.
06:09Bye-bye.
06:10Bye-bye.
06:11Bye-bye.
06:12Bye-bye.
06:13Bye-bye.
06:16Bye-bye.
06:17Bye-bye.
06:18Hi, Tam.
06:19How are you?
06:20Good.
06:20How are you?
06:21Good to see you.
06:23How have you been?
06:24Very busy.
06:25Great.
06:25Let's see.
06:27What a wonderful space.
06:29Yeah.
06:29I like it.
06:29What's of light?
06:31Mm-hmm.
06:31So my inspiration is very much classical music, especially piano music.
06:37So that translates into layers of fabric and different shades of fabric.
06:42All right.
06:43For me, like pleading reminds me of, like, piano keyboard.
06:47Okay.
06:48And this one, black and red, this is the color of piano cover.
06:53I'm getting a very confusing message from this.
06:56Look, I don't know.
06:57It's kind of hard to say.
06:58I just didn't want to make you look, like, too cohesive.
07:01And I did...
07:02You didn't...
07:02You did not want it to look cohesive.
07:04Too cohesive.
07:04Well, if that's what you wanted, you certainly achieved it, because that's...
07:08I did that.
07:09Well, this is your decision to make.
07:12It's not my decision to make.
07:14You really do have three different collections here.
07:17Own it.
07:18Mm-hmm.
07:21Next, I'm meeting Margarita in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.
07:30Margarita!
07:31Margarita!
07:31How are you?
07:33Hello.
07:33Welcome to Puerto Rico.
07:35This is spectacular.
07:36Isn't it?
07:37I'm so happy to be here.
07:38I'm so happy you're here.
07:41So, this is my parents' house.
07:43It was actually my grandparents' house.
07:45Really?
07:49Welcome to my studio space.
07:51I want Tim to see every single thing that I have.
07:54I don't want to hide anything from the man.
07:55He has the answers.
07:57How I came up with this collection is, I grew up in a really fun house.
08:00We had a really fun couch.
08:03This is an actual picture of my parents' couch in the 80s.
08:06All right.
08:07And it was two fabrics, and they were very wild and tropical.
08:11I'm putting fish.
08:11I'm putting parrots.
08:12I'm putting everything but the kitchen sink into this collection, and I'm kind of scared.
08:16I love and I'm obsessed with textiles, so to design my own print was a must for this collection.
08:22Exquisite.
08:24You like them.
08:24I love them.
08:24Don't just like them.
08:25I love them.
08:26Oh, that's great.
08:27Because I love them too.
08:28But I'm like, are people going to get it?
08:29I'm crazy about them.
08:31I could die of happiness right now.
08:34The second part of it is, I designed this crochet to go with these gold rings.
08:39For me, it has a cheapening effect.
08:41Really?
08:42I think it brings it down and to a level that it doesn't need to be.
08:47If you send out all these looks with these gold rings, you are sending out a sinking ship.
08:52I based a lot of it around these gold rings.
08:55Now it's like...
08:56But there's no reason to change a single shape.
08:58Just get rid of them.
08:59But I'm like scared that if I take these out, what will I do?
09:04I'm sure I'll figure it out.
09:04Well, that's a question.
09:05You will figure it out.
09:06Yeah.
09:06All right.
09:07Rip the band-aid off.
09:08That's cool.
09:09You want sophistication.
09:10Yeah.
09:11Take her off the beach and put her on the city street.
09:13Mm-hmm.
09:13Mm-hmm.
09:14Take her off the beach and put her on the street.
09:17That just...
09:18That's what I needed to hear.
09:19I'm good to go.
09:20Okay.
09:23Next, I'm in San Francisco to check in with Brandon.
09:31Welcome to this space.
09:33What a great space.
09:34Wow.
09:35I was thinking layers of love.
09:37It just kind of hit me.
09:38You know, what are the things that matter most to me?
09:40Friends, family, and I'm kind of a loving guy.
09:42So how that translates to clothes, I love to layer.
09:45I love pieces.
09:45I love to be able to style and edit.
09:47I'm crazy about the original print.
09:49Okay.
09:50When it's juxtaposed to the much lighter print.
09:53That contrast, it's really beautiful.
09:55You are on a great course.
09:57And I'm crazy about it.
10:00Well, that makes me feel good.
10:02Carry on.
10:03That's all I have to say.
10:04All right.
10:05Okay.
10:05Thank you so much for coming.
10:06You keep working.
10:07It's been a great day.
10:08And I'll see you back in New York.
10:09All right.
10:17Hello, designers.
10:18Welcome back to New York.
10:20But the fight to make it to New York Fashion Week isn't over.
10:23We can't wait to see what you've each created for your collections.
10:27It's kind of letting us know that, you know, welcome back.
10:30But nothing is guaranteed yet.
10:32You just have to earn your spot.
10:33Hey, that just means we're back, guys.
10:37Oh, my gosh.
10:43And we're back in here.
10:47Oh, my gosh.
10:48Back in the workroom.
10:50We are one step closer to Fashion Week.
10:53And every possible human emotion is in my stomach.
10:57And I think that's why it's so big.
11:02Oh.
11:04Yeah.
11:05Designers, I'm so happy to see you.
11:07Welcome back to your workroom away from home.
11:10Yeah.
11:10We still have the brothers selling an embroidery studio next door.
11:13You still have the JCPenney accessory wall.
11:16And as you know, there's a big hurdle that lies ahead.
11:20Mm-hmm.
11:21You will each be showing two looks.
11:24And the judges will determine who will move forward to New York Fashion Week.
11:30We all want to go.
11:31But we all know that we can't go.
11:33Everything's on the line.
11:34I'm eager to see which two looks are going before the judges tomorrow.
11:39Margarita, you've been busy.
11:41A lot of sleepless nights in Puerto Rico.
11:44Well, and worth it.
11:45If I just saw these two looks, I would want to see eight more.
11:48Oh, well, that's great to hear.
11:50They're very compelling and very alluring.
11:53That's good.
11:53I love this pant.
11:56I do, too.
11:56Mine is probably my favorite piece out of the whole collection.
11:59But in my mind, like, I think if they see this, they're going to say, oh, it's not cohesive.
12:03Well, oh, I disagree.
12:04Oh, really?
12:05Yeah.
12:05Oh, good.
12:05Okay.
12:06And this is mind-blowing?
12:07I'm not crazy?
12:08This and this?
12:10Okay.
12:10Mind-blowing.
12:11Alright, cool.
12:11I'm literally willing to do whatever it takes to show at Fashion Week.
12:15This is my dream, and I'm not going to slack.
12:17This is what I'm here for.
12:20Megan in band.
12:22Kentaro, how are you?
12:23Good.
12:24How are you?
12:24I'm excellent.
12:25So talk to me.
12:26Okay, so I really want to show this piece.
12:28Okay.
12:29So I think this is set.
12:31But for Kylie, I'm debating between this and this.
12:34What is your soul telling you?
12:37My soul is telling me, if I show this one, they are going to think I made everything like
12:43this and this.
12:44But if I show this one, they are going to think I did something else.
12:50Mm-hmm.
12:51But cohesion isn't achieved just by using a similar palette.
12:56Mm-hmm.
12:56It's about the whole attitude and vibe of the garments.
13:01Mm-hmm.
13:01What I see here is a very different attitude and vibe.
13:04Okay.
13:05Tim said so many times, it has to be cohesive.
13:08So I was making sure to make a cohesive look.
13:11All right.
13:12Carry on.
13:13Okay.
13:14Thank you, Kentaro.
13:16Brandon, what are you considering for your muses?
13:19I have options for both.
13:20I kind of want to shock the collection with them a little bit.
13:22And I'll probably have at least three looks that I can try on both of them.
13:25Oh, that's excellent.
13:26I want them to feel most comfortable and be most happy with the look as possible.
13:29Okay.
13:30I wanted there to be options.
13:31And there are.
13:32And each option looks excellent.
13:34Well, thank you, Tim.
13:35Carry on with it.
13:36All right.
13:36Thank you, Brandon.
13:38How are you doing, Kenya?
13:40I'm okay.
13:41No, you're not.
13:42What's the matter?
13:45First of all, you need a hug.
13:50What's going on?
13:51I think I'm just overthinking it.
13:53You probably are.
13:55I can't put my finger on what it is that will make my collection go from flat to fabulous.
14:02This is for Kate.
14:04Okay.
14:04And I thought this would look great on her curves.
14:06I have a very positive response to the cut of the dress.
14:09But can I be really blunt?
14:10I need to be blunt.
14:11Yes, please.
14:13These have such a youthful vibe.
14:16This, by comparison, looks like her mother.
14:20Oh.
14:22Coming up on Project Runway.
14:24Let's do this.
14:25Uh-oh.
14:26I think we're going to have a bosom problem.
14:28Which doesn't look cute at all.
14:29Don't overthink this.
14:31I'm just really stressed out.
14:32Oh.
14:36This looks like her mother.
14:41Is there anything else that you have that would potentially fit Kate?
14:46No.
14:46Okay.
14:48Can you put this?
14:49On top of her?
14:50Mm-hmm.
14:50Yeah.
14:52I think you just elevated it.
14:53Decisions made?
14:55Yeah.
14:55Okay, good.
14:56Thank you, Kenya.
14:57Thanks, too.
15:00How's Ayana?
15:02Um, I'm alive.
15:04Why do I feel as though some of you in this room took a doom and gloom pill?
15:07What's the matter?
15:08I don't know.
15:09Oh, please.
15:11I'm really trying to break out of this rut that I'm in.
15:15Look at all this work you've accomplished.
15:17Yeah, so I kind of wanted to just show the judges a snippet or like a sneak peek of everything.
15:24All right, talk to me about what that means.
15:26Well, this will be on Misha, and then this one is for Monique.
15:30For me, this gives me a much stronger sense of the collection.
15:33Is there anything else you would potentially put on Monique?
15:36Put on her?
15:36Um, this one.
15:39I like this option.
15:40Oh.
15:41These two are too much the same, and I'm not surprised.
15:46This is you.
15:47Okay.
15:48This?
15:48Good heavens, I want to see more.
15:50If there's a time to listen to Tim, it is right here right now, girlfriend.
15:53Just go with what he says.
15:56Trust the man.
15:56Trust the gun.
15:57I feel like the judges need to see a ruffle from me.
16:02This would say to me, you've really evolved.
16:06Thank you, Tim.
16:07All right, we'll see you later.
16:12All right, everyone.
16:14I acknowledge that there is a lot of anxiety and stress in this room.
16:17I fully understand it.
16:19Focus on your two muses and tomorrow's judging.
16:23You still look so worried, Kenya.
16:27Don't overthink this.
16:29I'm gonna find the source of the doom and gloom pills and take them away.
16:33It's anyone's game.
16:36Work hard.
16:37I know you will.
16:38Thank you, Tim.
16:41Oh, I do feel better.
16:42I do.
16:43Tim's advice always, always, always helps me, but I really need to see stuff on my models.
16:49Hey.
16:51Oh, I'm loving this front.
16:53Oh, my God.
16:54This is forever.
16:56Hi, man.
16:57All right.
16:58Let's put this dress on.
17:00Mama.
17:01Gosh.
17:02That's amazing.
17:03Slightly beaded.
17:04Can I keep this or what?
17:05My poodle.
17:08Okay.
17:09How are you feeling that?
17:10I feel good.
17:11Airy.
17:12You look super cute.
17:13I don't think we're gonna have a bosom problem if we try that one.
17:16Just trying to see.
17:17Straight.
17:17It's cutting into you a little bit.
17:20If you choose the wrong look, and they don't pick you to go to Fashion Week, game's over.
17:25I have no complaint about how you look.
17:29The skirt is really fitted well for my body, and the color is amazing.
17:33It's so beautiful.
17:34I love my look.
17:37Why don't we try the wrap situation?
17:39Okay.
17:39Yeah.
17:40Brandon has me trying three different looks out.
17:43Okay.
17:44Now, let's try another one.
17:45He wanted to see what did I like best?
17:48What made me feel really good?
17:50Because when you feel good, it translates on the runway.
17:53I like it, but I think I like the second one more.
17:55The second one?
17:56Oh.
17:58I cannot wait.
18:00The strip for you.
18:01I think Kenya puts a lot of thought into what she does, especially with my look.
18:05It's beautiful.
18:06But I'm not sure how both of our looks look together.
18:10I think you guys look fantastic.
18:12I'm not super stoked about these things.
18:15I have Misha and Monique trying on the two preview looks that Tim and I agreed on.
18:19But I don't like the way everything looks.
18:22It just looks really drab.
18:24It's not exciting.
18:25It doesn't look like fun.
18:27We have a couple more minutes, so I'm gonna have you slide out of these.
18:30And then I'm gonna have you try on something else.
18:31So I basically just switch the outfits to my original idea.
18:36Yeah!
18:38You're killing it!
18:39Yeah, no!
18:41Group hug!
18:42Bye, ladies!
18:52Okay, everybody!
18:53We need to go home?
18:55Okay.
18:55Let's go.
18:56If we must...
18:57Come on, Brandon.
18:58Let's do it.
19:09Good morning.
19:11Good morning!
19:12Feeling pretty fresh today.
19:15Fresh-trospective.
19:16Last night, I decided that I was gonna just push that reset button and just let all my stress
19:21just go away.
19:24I feel better today.
19:26Good morning!
19:28Good morning.
19:29How is everyone?
19:30Good.
19:31Good.
19:31Good morning.
19:31All right.
19:32Your models will be in soon.
19:34You will have an hour to send them to the Avon Beauty Lab and to our hair studio.
19:39If you are using the JCPenney accessory wall, use it thoughtfully.
19:44Thank you, Tim.
19:45Thank you, Tim.
19:49Hey!
19:50Hey!
19:51Good morning!
20:00Good morning!
20:01You got the relaxed looks.
20:02Really?
20:03Yes.
20:03Sorry, I was supposed to cut it out.
20:04Oh, no.
20:05It's fine.
20:06I finally decide on the two looks that Tim and I agreed on.
20:10I'm ready to take a chance.
20:11I'm ready to show the judges something that they haven't seen from me before, and I hope
20:15that they just get what I'm going for.
20:20I
20:21Want something very clean a lot of highlight, but I do want a very loud red lip the velvet lip.
20:27This is a mad one
20:28Okay. Yes. Yes, so exactly same color a skinny to the lip
20:33Let's do with the foundation right thick eyebrow how thick eyebrows? Yeah
20:38I love it simple and glowy and a touch of smack your mama
20:43That's a glow all over the face. I love that this one on the eyelid. Oh, that's gonna look hot
20:49with her dress
20:54It's like simple but not simple. I know that's one

22:15magazine
22:21Hello everybody
22:25You're in new york, but i'm not unfortunately i had to be in los angeles and can't be there in
22:30person
22:31But i will be for the big runway show as you know in fashion one day you're in and the
22:36next day you're out
22:37There are five of you here and after tonight there will be
22:40Well less than five it all depends on how today's runway show goes
22:45We'll be looking at two looks from each collection and from there on we will decide who will move on
22:51to new york fashion week
22:53This is going to be a very very big day
22:58All right, let's say hello to our judges
23:00First we have creative director of brooks brothers women and fashion designer zach posen
23:04Hi, Heidi. Hi designers
23:07creative director for mary claire magazine nina garcia hello designers hello heidi
23:13And we also have tim gun here for the runway show hi tim
23:17Okay, let's start the show
23:31My looks are totally me
23:34It can be super fun flirty and romantic in a way, but they're always in my styling and
23:40The silhouette says always reads a little bit hip-hop and that's kind of me
23:55I
23:56Feel confident about my looks and what I presented and I feel it's strong enough to get me through to
24:00new york fashion
24:14How can I get enough of those pants?
24:15She walks out and she is killer. I can see zach and nina's face
24:21Eyebrows are rising. It is incredible
24:32I hope the judges can see that I am not just any old designer like I am a textile designer.
24:40I am an apparel designer. I'm an accessory designer
24:43I have a place in the fashion world
25:07Christina looks classic. I think she looks beautiful and
25:11I hope that they respond to the sophistication of how I create
25:18She looks beautiful
25:23I'm hoping that the judges don't murder me for making a black dress
25:27I hope they see the awesome detail and make it an exception for black dresses
25:43Oh
25:43This is cute. Yeah
25:49I feel a little nervous
25:53I came this far so just please let me go to new york fashion week
26:11I was so happy with nude pretty look but then I was kind of like thinking oh my gosh
26:18The puff is a little weird that balance was like a little off
26:22Okay so
26:37The two pieces that i've selected are
26:40Intended to be teaser pieces to make the 100 thing. We'll what else do you have to say
26:44and I hope that I've selected the right ones.
26:53I'm showing the judges something a little bit different
26:55than what I normally show them.
26:59I'm here to win.
27:00I feel like what I've done,
27:01if the judges understand where I'm coming from,
27:03then they'll want to see more from me.
27:10Designers, before we decide who will move forward,
27:12we have some questions for you.
27:14And Tim is going to stay here so he can take some notes
27:18to remind you later about what we said today.
27:22Kenya, we're going to talk to you first.
27:23Tell us about your inspiration
27:25and why you chose those two looks to present to us today.
27:29I made this collection that was vacation, dreamy,
27:34and a little business at the same time.
27:37And I chose these two pieces
27:40because I think these ladies look classic and chic
27:44and sophisticated and polished,
27:46and that's what I like.
27:48So I like your pearl cover-up very much.
27:53I feel like there's a cover-up story happening
27:55on these two looks in different ways,
27:58but I think that there are some major fit issues.
28:02When the black dress came down the runway,
28:05it was moving all over the place.
28:07So make that fit great,
28:09because if you nail that dress,
28:11it's a dress you could run with.
28:12Gotcha.
28:13Can you open the robe a little bit?
28:16Oh, well, look at that.
28:17Much better.
28:18I don't understand why everything has a cover-up.
28:20Those two pieces now do look cohesive
28:22because you see all the seams and all the lines,
28:25but you have to be careful, too,
28:27that it's not going to be a snooze fest.
28:30It's a make-it-work moment.
28:33Thank you, Kenya.
28:34Ayanna, please tell us about your inspiration.
28:37I titled my collection Evolution
28:39to tell my personal story
28:41of my journey through my life.
28:43There have been lots of ups and downs,
28:44and my collection is kind of an emotional type of collection,
28:49and I thought it would work in my favor
28:51to show you something
28:52that maybe you haven't seen from me before.
28:54I love this juxtaposition
28:57of the distressed and the refined.
28:59It does look like sportswear,
29:01and it looks active.
29:03So all that combination
29:04makes it feel very luxurious.
29:07I'm pretty mad about that jacket.
29:10I like that you worked your fabrics
29:12to get an emotional quality to them.
29:15I'm intrigued.
29:16I want to see more.
29:19Thank you, Ayanna.
29:20Kentaro.
29:21So my inspiration is from Japanese dry lake.
29:27You see white sand and big stone,
29:30and you see light and shadows.
29:32So I wanted to showcase those two
29:35as a part of my collection.
29:38To me, the white look is questionable.
29:41I'm not a huge fan of this look.
29:44The cream, on the other hand,
29:45I'm in absolute love with.
29:47I think it looks so expensive
29:48and super sophisticated,
29:50and then you have the white one next to it.
29:52I just don't understand
29:53how these two looks fit together.
29:56To me, they're not cohesive.
29:57There is a real disconnect
29:59between this piece and your white piece,
30:01but I really love your color palette here.
30:05What I don't like,
30:06it feels like you get very conceptual,
30:10and you try very hard.
30:12You're trying too hard.
30:14So your clothes, all of a sudden,
30:17have no soul.
30:18They're just clothes.
30:20I don't know where this is going,
30:22so I'm a little nervous.
30:23If it all stays in this direction,
30:26I don't think it's enough.
30:31Brandon, tell us about your inspiration
30:33and how these two looks
30:34represent your collection.
30:36So I called this collection Layers of Love,
30:38and I try to find the girlfriend collection
30:40to my menswear.
30:42I try to make it, like, fun and flirty
30:44and cute and sexy
30:45and kind of everything that I think she is.
30:47It is the female version of you in clothes,
30:51if that's possible.
30:53I'm particularly in love with this look
30:56because it's such a phenomenal balance of proportion.
31:03This one, on the other hand,
31:05she's got a lot going on.
31:07The top, the strings, the closures on the side,
31:10it needs something quieter.
31:12But all in all, I think the attitude is great,
31:15and I love seeing you play with
31:17more feminine color palette.
31:19I love it.
31:21I do not care for this top.
31:23Okay.
31:24I think that the shearing looks really sloppy
31:26and messy underneath.
31:28Okay.
31:28It really jumps out
31:30because everything else is so crisp
31:32and precise.
31:33Okay.
31:34It can be better.
31:35And I know you can bang it out.
31:37I've seen it in challenges.
31:39For sure.
31:40Thank you, Brandon.
31:43Margarita.
31:44Thinking about the collection,
31:45I was looking at old pictures,
31:46and I found this one of me and my sisters
31:49playing Monopoly,
31:50and the couch was this wild stripe
31:52and all over print.
31:54And I wanted to convey that joy.
31:57So I reimagined that couch from the 80s,
32:00created my own textiles,
32:02beaded the whole thing
32:03because, you know, I love sparkle.
32:04It's pretty gutsy, I have to say, Margarita.
32:07It's very loud and it's very out there.
32:09So either people really respond to that
32:12or they don't.
32:13I happen to like this print.
32:14There is certainly no lack of exuberance
32:18or attitude in your clothes.
32:21You don't have to put everything
32:22in the kitchen sink in the same outfit,
32:26particularly the bomber jacket.
32:28Can we take that off?
32:29Is that a bathing suit underneath?
32:31It's a bodysuit.
32:32It's a bodysuit.
32:33For me, this short look
32:34really doesn't look great
32:35because you have the shearing
32:37across the midriff on the top.
32:38It becomes a throwaway look.
32:40I don't need to see this on a runway.
32:43Thank you, Margarita.
32:44Thank you, models.
32:45You can leave the runway.
32:50Kenya, why should you move forward
32:52to compete at New York Fashion Week?
32:54I think that my silhouettes are good.
32:56I think that I have a story to tell.
32:58And simply because I really want to be there.
33:04Lord knows I want to be there so bad.
33:06I just really want it.
33:11Ayana.
33:12I feel like I'm ready.
33:15I'm in the perfect position of my life
33:17to take the modest mark by storm.
33:20And I am teachable.
33:22I'm ready to step into the spotlight
33:25and do what I feel like I'm meant to do.
33:29Kantaro.
33:30I felt like I was ready to showcase my collection
33:33before I came here.
33:35But after talking to you guys,
33:36I feel like I'm ready to...
33:40Not really ready, but...
33:43But I hope I can improve my collection
33:46in the next few days or hours.
33:49So I hope I can have this opportunity.
33:54Brandon.
33:54I feel like I've had a clear point of view
33:57the whole time.
33:57And I'm stuck true to that.
33:59My identity and it's very clear
34:00and I know what I want to make.
34:02And so, yeah, I would just love to compete
34:04on this platform.
34:05And Margarita.
34:07With almost 70 million Latin Americans
34:10living in the U.S.,
34:11my point of view will be wildly accepted.
34:14And I think it's fun and different.
34:16And I just make sure that the women
34:18feel really confident and beautiful
34:20in what I make.
34:21That is my mission.
34:23Thank you, Margarita.
34:27Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
34:30We have a very big conversation to have.
34:32Right, guys?
34:34And then I'm going to call you back.
34:35Now you can leave the runway.
34:44All right, guys, we have a very big decision
34:47to make today.
34:48There's two designers
34:49that I feel very confident about,
34:52and that is Brandon and Ayana.
34:55Agree completely.
34:56100% agree.
34:58Should we say they're going to New York Fashion Week?
35:00Right?
35:00I say yes.
35:02Absolutely.
35:05What did you guys think about Margarita?
35:07She's a great print designer.
35:09I loved her use of that.
35:11I didn't think it was the freshest
35:13or newest perspective,
35:14but I do believe she has a point of view.
35:17I did, too.
35:17She said, I told you I was going to do bold,
35:19and here I am.
35:20I'm delivering on what I promised.
35:25I think that Cantara was really struggling.
35:27I mean, for Cantara to say, I'm ready,
35:29but not really ready.
35:31I don't want to hear that,
35:32and if you're not, lie.
35:34Don't tell us that,
35:34because then that worries me,
35:36sending you to New York Fashion Week.
35:40What did you guys think about Kenya's clothes?
35:43This was not good work today.
35:44But she is one of those designers
35:46that can really dress a lot of body types
35:49and design to a full-figure woman.
35:52Yes.
35:53I really wish I could have seen
35:55more of Kenya's collection.
35:56So hard to tell with just these two looks.
36:01Okay, so we're sure we made our decision?
36:05Yeah.
36:06That was a tough one.
36:08All right, let's bring them back out.
36:11Designers, I'm very excited
36:12about our big finale show
36:14in just two days.
36:16Four of you will move forward
36:18to compete at New York Fashion Week,
36:20and one of you will be out.
36:35Brandon, you're moving forward
36:37to New York Fashion Week.
36:39Thank you so much.
36:41Thank you, really.
36:42We were very intrigued
36:43by what you showed us today, Brandon.
36:45And we can't wait to see more.
36:48Congratulations.
36:49You can leave the runway.
36:50Thank you, guys.
36:56Ayana, we love your hip,
36:58cool take on modest fashion.
37:00You're also moving forward
37:02to New York Fashion Week.
37:05Congratulations.
37:06Ah, can I scream?
37:09Oh, my gosh.
37:10Thank you so much.
37:10You're in.
37:11You can leave the runway.
37:17Margarita,
37:19your bold and gutsy looks,
37:21they definitely caught our attention.
37:23So we want to see more from you.
37:25You are also moving
37:27to New York Fashion Week.
37:28Congratulations.
37:30Thank you so much.
37:31And I will take your feedback
37:32and promise to show you something great.
37:34Remember that this is New York Fashion Week,
37:37not Miami Fashion Week.
37:39You're in.
37:40You can leave the runway.
37:50Kentaro, Kenya,
37:52one of you will move forward
37:53to compete
37:54at New York Fashion Week
37:57and one of you will be out.
38:01Kenya?
38:10I'm so sorry.
38:11You're out.
38:16Thanks.
38:18Kentaro, congratulations.
38:19That means you move forward
38:20to compete
38:21at New York Fashion Week.
38:23You can leave the runway.
38:25Thank you so much.
38:31Kenya,
38:32we absolutely love you.
38:34Like, love, love, love you.
38:38And I do think
38:39that you have such a great future
38:40out there in fashion.
38:42And I wish I could be there right now
38:44and I want to give you a big hug
38:46and say opirazim to you,
38:48but I can't.
38:49So I do it from afar.
38:54Love you, Kenya.
38:56You can leave the runway.
38:58Aufirazim.
39:04Being here on Project Runway has taken me out of my comfort zone
39:09as a designer.
39:10It has pushed me to elevate how I create,
39:14so I'm grateful for that.
39:21I'm not going to mince words.
39:25I feel sick.
39:28And Kenya,
39:29if I had another save,
39:31I'd save you.
39:43All right.
39:44I'll send you to the workroom
39:45to clean up your space.
39:47Say goodbye, everybody.
39:55We're all going to miss you.
39:56Bye, Kenya.
39:59Bye, Kenya.
40:00Bye.
40:03It was very special
40:04and I want to let other people know
40:06that you can dream.
40:08Your life will only begin
40:09when you step outside of you
40:11and jump off that cliff of greatness.
40:16I didn't win Project Runway,
40:18but you will see me,
40:20you will hear about me.
40:21This is an unstoppable moving train.
