00:00tonight on the project runway season 14 reunion this is the reunion pow pow all 16 designers
00:08returned to the same stage there were some pretty rocky moments in the beginning emotions had to
00:13come out that is absolutely positively insane this was nothing shy of a disaster oh snap they
00:19have a lot on their minds I wanted to wring his neck are you serious yes yes I'm talking no I'm
00:25talking cannabis was attacking Ashley like that hurt wait wait wait wait wait wait wait and they're
00:30determined to settle some scores I just don't appreciate being called that maybe I'm not even
00:35meant to be a designer and I have an issue I want to get to the bottom of as well you and I had our
00:42ups and downs this season welcome to the project runway season 14 reunion special we'll first talk
00:53the final six designers the rest of the designers will join us a little later in the show designers
00:59welcome back everyone I'm so thrilled to see all of you again and I'm eager to hear what you've been
01:04doing yeah all right Ashley congratulations again on your win thank you how do you feel it feels so
01:13amazing to be the winner of season 14 this is something that I've been wanting to do and I
01:19can't believe that I took the chance to audition and it's taken me this far and this is like a
01:26dream come true well your time here has been quite a ride yes you've been on the top a lot but you've also been on the
01:34bottom at times what have you learned it's been a roller coaster but I think it has definitely made me a stronger
01:41person than I was before coming here and a stronger person in what way I feel like I've definitely built
01:48a thicker skin and I learned a lot about myself as a person and as a designer you have been a consistent
01:54fan favorite this season and how does that make you feel it feels so amazing to have so much love and
02:00support from everyone I definitely felt like I told my story and I want other people to know that
02:07plus-size women matter and do you believe that creating a plus-size collection was a factor in
02:13your win I'm not sure but I just wanted to make a difference and I can't believe that I am the person
02:19who's doing that right now it's something to be very proud of I definitely am proud of it do the rest of
02:25you think that the fact that Ashley created a plus-size collection factored into her win yeah I
02:30think that she's definitely made a statement and to do something that no one else has done you know
02:37what I mean or for lack of a better word has the balls to do it I think the line was good enough to
02:42win without being it on a plus-size model or a regular size model and I think that's a sign of a
02:48good designer thank you now Kelly yeah when you came to project runway and started there were some
02:56pretty rocky moments in the beginning correct yeah there was one judge in particular who gave
03:02you a pretty hard time Nina it was indeed Nina Garcia I appreciate the rough critiques because I mean
03:10that's the only way I'm gonna get better I agree with you people are gonna blow smoke up my ass all
03:14the time I'm gonna I don't know I'm not going to smoke back up their own asses you were so close
03:20to winning how does that feel I mean I'm happy I just got the show at New York Fashion Week and I
03:26have zero regrets I love everything I did there's nothing I would change with my collection or anything
03:31and I'm excited to see where it's gonna take me so well I want us all to take a look at the
03:36evolution of the Kelly Dempsey Nina Garcia relationship let's take a look this is a taste situation I agree but I
03:52will say it's not poorly made it's not really made I want to get this on I cannot believe you guys are
03:58saying I'm also I like I love that this looks a little clownish this faux fur looks like a bath mat
04:08oh I am so ready to send her home very interesting it's not just the the color but the texture that is
04:19it makes it so interesting and I am glad you listened about editing yeah wonderful that is
04:31beautiful detail on the side really well done Kelly think really beautiful hallelujah Kelly I am used
04:42to seeing very over-the-top embellished you go crazy on the details you have plenty of ideas and that's
04:50wonderful but when you can really edit them down you get this and this looks fantastic thank you so much
04:59coming in to eat this competition I just didn't know where I stand being like pretty much self-taught
05:04and I'm like so grateful to even be here it's a lot different than working at the deli at home I can't
05:09tell you that much Kelly you succeeded in making Nina Garcia a believer and I don't believe a designer
05:18in the history of Project Runway has ever had such a profound impact on Nina and changing her mind thank
05:26you so congratulations for that thanks well Edmund you waited a long time to finally get here and you
05:34made it onto the show and you showed at New York Fashion Week how does that feel awesome Tim it's like
05:41a dream you know still living it and um I'm excited just to say that I've shown for the very first time
05:48at Fashion Week you know but I have to add you were also a man of mystery mysterious secretive I didn't know
05:58that you kept your looks a secret from the other designers and up until the last minute too did you
06:05all realize that that was happening yes not until the hallmark challenge I'm next to Edmund and I drop
06:13something on the ground and it's like at the beginning and I pick it up and I see this like
06:16flower bouquet out of freaking cars and I'm like what is he doing over there under the table and Edmund's like oh you didn't see that he hides it real quick
06:24I was like I see what you're doing I want us to all take a look at Edmund's man of mystery
06:30you have an idea yet uh kind of sorta I like to fly under the radar yours looks interesting although
06:39my vision is very clear of what I want to do um if anyone asks I don't know I don't know in a sec
06:45because I didn't want to inspire anyone else I'm not quite sure what Edmund's doing give us details please
06:53should I say no no one else he's got his head so screwed on tight in the game when did you do that
07:05Edmund likes to surprise people he pulls out this veil and when does he do all this he's like always
07:11pulling tricks out of his bag like you just don't know until the very end and poof position it's always
07:17the quiet ones that pack the biggest punch so Edmund what do you have to say about that well
07:25looking at it I mean the proof is there is there I personally I guess like the element of surprise
07:33I've always been like that I guess I just you just like to surprise other people it's just something I
07:37do I don't know now Candace what was the whole project runway experience like for you I definitely
07:44think I grew and I could say as a designer as a woman because when I got here I was had this
07:52relentless like drive and I just didn't let anything else interfere with it I like how half the room
07:58leaves when Candace starts talking everyone's like okay everyone's like cocktail party one
08:03is it that everyone's already heard what Candace has to say or we just know it's total but there
08:13were a few people who did influence me and I think it let me open up a bit who and softened me you know
08:20surprisingly enough as much as everyone says that all Ashley did was cry like it a bit helped me
08:28understand that women have insecurities and it's a very beautiful thing okay I'd like to hear from
08:36hashtag Merlene oh snap I hashtag you all the time how is this experience for you it has been the bomb
08:46and hard but overall I had a blast I grew as a designer I like figure out the kind of designer I want to be
08:53when I left project runway so that was cool and I always say like if I can do project runway I can go to
08:58the moon and come back you know what I mean so this has been awesome well you were definitely one
09:03of the more memorable designers ever to be on project runway and I want us all to take a look

10:14I've ever met in my life you're so positive and you're just a great person and everyone I talked
10:19to says the same thing and you're awesome so well swap mill you and I swap mill
10:27you and I had our ups and downs this season did we not yep well we're going to talk about that
10:37when we come back coming up on the project runway reunion special you were not working up to your

11:07season 14 reunion special so swap no on the topic of you and me and our ups and downs I want you to
11:18know that you are a charming and affable guy and you are a very talented designer and the fact that I
11:30believed you were not working up to your full potential was the source of my frustrations with
11:36you and how do you react to that what are your thoughts about that you know from season one and seeing
11:44the show and of course seeing you for me you have been like up there like I've always put you on a
11:50pedestal and I always will so your validation meant everything to me even more than the judges and then
11:59when that whole thing happened it just broke my whole world but here's what I want you to know and and
12:06what I need to assure you I have never ever ever ever questioned your talent you are extremely talented
12:12yeah what I didn't like was your work ethic and what I did not know was that you came into this
12:22competition with a strategy a very specific strategy and I want all of us to take a look
12:30really I'm worried about swap no I can kind of see his energy changing that he is so talented and
12:39just really needs to focus you know what my strategy is I always prepare myself and produce pieces that
12:47will keep me safe I think I've been giving around 60 percent maybe 60 to 80 percent I've not been aiming
12:54for the win I've been aiming to be safe you're ridiculous oh I'm very ridiculous I don't want
12:59to win win win lose lose lose out I'd rather be safe safe safe top top top win win win win win
13:08finale well it just it doesn't make sense in my head if that's what you're saying you're gonna do
13:14then the judges are gonna feel that you're in a competition compete you have so much creativity
13:21you're working at 40 percent capacity work at 150 percent I'm really glad that Tim told swap no that
13:28he's only working at like 40 percent I think he needed to hear it and that people notice it I think
13:33overconfidence is what led me astray but I don't think I'm gonna go home I feel like swap no wants
13:39to be here but not as much as everyone else and is it in any condition for Jen to even try on not really
13:46you're the last critique of the session so you've had more time to work than any other designer and
13:52you're the only designers had nothing to put on their model how does that make you feel precisely
13:57why I wanted to wait because oh I didn't want to bunch of bull I'm tired of hearing it I'm really
14:05just fed up I mean I just want to ask what is the point when it comes to swap mill every single one
14:15of us from the beginning knew how talented he was oh absolutely and when you said you didn't know why
14:20you were here it was like I wanted to wring his neck I wanted to sort of like because I know you
14:25know why you're here yeah and you're really good at what you do and I know that you know it so the
14:30thing is back home everyone's been questioning why I'm sure and what are you making we don't
14:35understand it this is not fashion so I've always been questioning it myself and then when you said
14:42it as well it really meant made me question everything on the whole as to maybe I'm not even meant to be
14:48a designer you could question a lot of things but don't ever question that you shouldn't be a designer
14:52because that isn't not even a question that is absolutely positively insane I want you to take a lesson
14:58from Kelly's book yeah and be positive yes and move forward no matter what yeah you you need to
15:06have a tenacity that doesn't stop you yeah and I will underscore my frustrations with this refrain that
15:15I used to use of my students I'm going to use it with you I can't want you to succeed more than you do
15:21and if you've learned something from this experience that moves you forward and that has made you feel
15:27stronger as a designer then I could not be happier yeah it has you have no idea how much it has wonderful
15:33I also feel like you wouldn't have been so hard if you didn't believe so much in to him you wouldn't
15:39have wasted my time you're absolutely right it would have said well carry on yeah yeah thank you

16:10welcome back to the project runway season 14 reunion special welcome to the designers who've just joined us
16:16now you all have been in the designers lounge watching this show what are your thoughts I mean
16:26it's awkward it's having watch all of it back for all of us like it's a it's a fresh interesting awkward
16:33experience that's an honest answer and I appreciate it it's a little difficult yeah and just to say the
16:40least yeah a little difficult yeah how so just after watching all the episodes and you know through the
16:45magic of TV obviously through editing and everything else may not be the way that we perfectly lived
16:50it I mean us two we were made out to look like I was trying to control her like crazy and I mean we
16:55worked well together don't you agree this is the reunion I mean clearly they put us together for a
17:06reason girl when we button bag these teams there is no manipulation it's really the luck of the draw so
17:12you maintain that in the edit of the show it looks as though you and Marlene had conflicts the way that
17:17the editing process took place it looked like I was all designed and I was just making her to do what
17:23I wanted her to do of course now I'm over talking her but I want to throw to the clip
17:29you can dance all you want you know at the runway but until that happens girl you ain't dancing you
17:47ain't singing I just did this to the back no it needs to go back to the way it was you don't think it's
17:53no no you were uncharacteristically quiet he put me on lock down that was true both of us can't wait
18:01for this to be done it's hard I just want to be me and I can't be me if this is the losing look
18:06today who should go home I mean I'll be brutally honest with you if one of us is gonna go home it
18:12has to be Marlene so truth or editing I think for me looking back on the thing I'm such a people
18:25pleasing and I was just I just wanted not for us to have like any conflict I didn't speak up I think
18:31it was like good because I was just so afraid of like conflict does anyone else feel that they were
18:37not portrayed in an accurate way on the show I don't think anything was edited to make it seem
18:42like it wasn't true if anything there were more things in the episode that were not shown that could
18:49give proof to the truth that was actually shown on television even in the respect of editing where I
18:56haven't always been highlighted as the frickin hero of the show how far can the editing process really go
19:04like when you're speaking to someone's name and you follow with a comment and then you follow with
19:09an action and you give your opinion how far can the editing really take it my perception of the
19:15editing the editing of the show is kind to everyone it is it is and I include myself as unbiased as it can
19:23be yes let's move on Blake you were one of the more controversial designers on the season of the show
19:31and specifically about words that you had to say about swap milk the blogs and social media went crazy
19:38including accusing you of being a racist guys the machines the three machines at the back with the
19:46pink tape are for heavy-duty materials did you set that up for us sorry did you set that up for us sorry I
19:54don't know how to speak Indian so I can't say it I'm speaking English I'm not speaking in India what'd
20:00you say Blake I mean obviously I'm very sarcastic and obviously it was like miss it was just a
20:10misunderstanding I'm in that point in time it was a bit of a shock I'm 33 I've traveled the world never
20:15faced racism anywhere when people talk about it so much and then this comment and I was like was it really
20:20racist now and then we spoke that night itself and I just realized he is who he is yeah he's a sweet
20:27guy who doesn't I mean who doesn't know how to tell time apparently I have a question which is are you
20:34really as naive and innocent as you present yourself on the show or are you just having fun with everyone
20:41and before you answer let's take a look I want to know why we're at Madison Square Garden I think
20:51there's sports that play there at baseball or something I don't know I that's what I was gonna
20:54say you like read my mind it's like we have ESPN or something yes yeah six hours right nine hours
21:02we get told one wouldn't that be closer to this one though Blake apparently doesn't know how to tell
21:08time oh the big hand is the minute oh my god see this doesn't cover the caslapis because office is
21:18like what's happening down there with women like what am I supposed to cover I mean the caslapis I'm
21:40not obviously familiar with that but are you as naive and innocent as this would lead everyone to
21:46believe I don't know it's just like a like an insecurity I guess of me it's just I don't think
21:50he's naive yeah I mean obviously kind of smart so she's talking Blake is an endearing human being
21:56like he is who he is and there is like a quality of like naivety without question but it's not a bad
22:03thing it's really endearing he's a fabulous 17 year old all right designers may we please address the
22:12paintball team challenge oh snap oh snap Merlina get real right oh snap this was nothing shy of a
22:22disaster for the girls team let's take a look we should divide you up into teams Candace who do you
22:30choose this Amanda the girls are picking their friends they're picking who do I like to chat with
22:40the girls were being girls I have to say you guys I'm really shocked Ashley has won two challenges and
22:49she's the last one sitting there you guys are nuts we have to have something because right now we have
22:55like all it we're all of mm-hmm I would like to be a leader in this challenge but I feel like because
23:02I was chosen last I don't feel welcome in this team and they're on throwing you and you're the best me
23:08oh this really pisses me off because I know I do not deserve to go home unfortunately one of you is
23:15going to be out who should that be I would say maybe Ashley I would say Ashley I also have to say
23:25Ashley this just seems like a bit of a bitch fest and you're blaming one person rather than all of
23:34you I don't get why you guys are breaking her down like she's an amazing designer why is she crying
23:39it's because you guys are mean girls well that was a lot to relive and before I ask any specific
23:51questions is there anything that any of you would like to say the whole like mean girl thing and like
23:56why I didn't choose Ashley I just don't appreciate being called that because that's I'm the last thing
24:02from that and I don't understand how we were the mean girls when the boys could have picked Ashley
24:06as well and they didn't pick her either I say something because us boys had discussed if we
24:11ever had a group challenge that it was gonna be boys versus girls we'd all we mean we lived together
24:16we all talked about it we all said if we ever have the opportunity we should do it it doesn't mean
24:31you're not part of the team we just were taking a break I don't know everybody had their own clicks
24:35like I'm not gonna lie everybody had their clicks like whoever was paired up in the rooms they clicked
24:40with each other and I just really felt like no one really took the time to like get to know me
24:47besides Lori and some of the guys Ashley absolutely not I'm sorry I mean we had our conversations at
24:54night but it was always you guys we'll get to the bottom of this when we return coming up on the
25:03Project Runway reunion special and this was attacking Ashley we were asked to pick someone we had to pick
25:08what the hell do you want me to say wait wait wait wait wait wait welcome back to the Project Runway
25:18season 14 reunion special well let's go back to the paintball team challenge Lori you mentioned that
25:27you heard the other members of the team the other girls say that they would throw Ashley under the bus
25:32but that was not caught on camera so when was that said it wasn't actually I didn't I said that I feel
25:44that the other girls I feel that the other girls are going to throw you under the bus and this hat went
25:48on through them bitching about Ashley um supposedly their frustrations with Ashley and I'm like why is
25:55everybody mad at Ashley why is everybody I'm talking I'm talking why is everybody blaming Ashley Ashley
26:04so I got the idea that they're gonna throw Ashley under the bus and lo and behold on the runway they
26:11threw Ashley under the bus I was the one that was asked first who would you choose to go home I
26:16didn't base it on the garment I chose Ashley because at the beginning of the challenge when we're all
26:21trying to work together as a team we're all sitting there working together did you observe Ashley
26:25was the first person that walked off when we were all talking and trying to work together and
26:29started dying the fabric by herself because everybody's talking at the same time we didn't
26:34work together and we need to work together nobody wanted to work that's when I was my frustration in
26:42Ashley's frustration as well I give an opinion completely based on that particular style none of
26:48us wanted to be mean to Ashley or have a bitch fest as it was called by Kelly Osborn I think that we were
26:54all frustrated with the fact that Ashley was extremely emotional and that was that was the turning
27:04all I don't even know why that's even being pointed out like everybody was so overwhelmed yeah and it's
27:13the one that ended up crying because I was overwhelmed so it's like okay we were asked to pick someone we had to
27:22pick someone and for me it was based on looks and yes for everybody else we were in the workroom and I
27:27confirmed with everybody in the group before I started pleading this stuff to say like okay is this
27:33gonna go cohesive then everybody was like yeah yeah I like it and then to be in the bottom and then the
27:39judges asked them what's her least favorite look or whatever to be chosen like it just felt like
27:45everybody was being faced from so hold on hold on hold on in all of this discussion that we've had
27:50Ashley's been kind of the center point of it and yet it was Blake who called on a moment that he saw
27:59from his opinion like seeing what you guys were doing on the outside it looked like you guys were
28:03attacking Ashley and making her cry and not giving her a fair point and what she wanted to be as a
28:09designer like Kelly's not a mean girl like Amanda's not a mean girl Lindsey's not a mean girl but the
28:14way I saw it like Candace was attacking Ashley like that's what I saw this is not what this competition
28:21is about is bringing someone down and I felt like that's what you guys were doing and you mean me what
28:26about you can just said you guys you mean me oh okay if you want to put the spotlight on you
28:30no you just did was bringing Ashley down I mean you guys work together so I just don't understand you
28:35guys did so good together you guys won together so why would you want to bring Ashley down I don't get it I
28:38don't believe that anyone intentionally never meant to bring Ashley down or to hurt her feelings
28:44absolutely not I'm sorry that you guys had to go through this I'm sorry because this is not what
28:49I wanted I just wanted to get along with you guys and I wanted to work with you guys you and I were we
28:55were friends I would never let someone sit there and say something that wasn't true about you yes I
29:02and you let Blake no I'm talking you let Blake say that I was a mean person and I wasn't mean to
29:09you that day I can send why would I have felt that you guys had you had turned your back on me when we
29:14were in this challenge I don't know why you felt like that because you were talking crap behind my back
29:18about how much I was crying like I was crying because I was frustrated but what hurt me the
29:23most is how you reacted to me after this challenge you because you tried to make you you agreed with
29:30Blake saying I was a mean girl yes all they asked was how did I agree with him because I didn't defend
29:36you didn't say anything his opinion what the hell do you want me to say to this we were all frustrated
29:42that day you guys looked on television this is what you guys said I am totally not lying it was silent for
29:48five minutes would you want me to say I'm sitting there because people are voting me off I don't
29:54know if somebody yelled at you and called you a bully I would be like no ash no actually no but can
29:59you think about the state that she's in at the time what about the state that I'm in when everyone's
30:04calling me a mean girl you want her to sit up and defend you for not being a mean girl for what's
30:09being showed on television think about the state that she's in she thinks she's going home because
30:14you guys are trying to sing her home no in fairness hold on no no no no in fairness to what
30:19Lori's saying wait wait wait wait wait wait can I just say this would anyone disagree with this
30:25statement from me you were a very dysfunctional team no one was no one was pleased we're going to take a
30:34break and when we come back we'll be joined by the rest of the season 14 designers time to go
30:39coming up on the project runway reunion special emotions have to come out what do you think it
30:44is that brings out these extremes of emotion we're putting our heart on a table huh now what's going
30:50on between you and Blake tm welcome back now we have everyone here welcome everyone as we already know
31:04some of you didn't work very well together to put it mildly and we have yet another case that we
31:13haven't discussed who are you talking about I have no idea Edmund on meow you two struggled working
31:23together let's take a look my style is not this but you do this because it's your style because I don't
31:30like this kind of defense wait if you don't like it you wouldn't make you think I like it I'm so
31:35sick of arguing you have to talk to me that's why we it's a group challenge you're in your head but
31:40you're kind of like doing like this though but you shut up if I had to be partnered with someone like
31:50hunt me out I would have hurled myself out a window I think I usually can't I'm young I'm young I'm
31:56young it's so frustrating you gotta understand it's one look he's type of pushing me to follow his direction which I don't like
32:03can you turn I'm tiny but I still have my opinion so the whole swimsuit I in charge okay have you ever made a
32:12swimsuit before no I'll tell you what just make the whole thing I'll make the dress and you defend it on the runway how about that
32:17this is gonna wear Edmund did another whole swim suit what he's doing I feel so disrespected I feel
32:30disappointed how did the two of you work together not so well we have totally different style we have
32:37different opinion Edmund you're rolling your eyes I don't support this at all what's happening with this
32:43bathing suit that's crazy town there clearly was a communication issue here what was it Edmund one
32:54thing I want to clear up when I created the second bathing suit look it was only because the second
32:59time being told to shut up I was like okay I'm just gonna just back off and let her do her thing I
33:05wasn't aware of how far along she had come and even if we would have a look to present on the runway I'm
33:10deducing from what you're saying the communication issue was no communication I think there was somewhat
33:16of a dial tone but no one was picking up saying hello maybe on at the end yeah well that sounds
33:20like no communication um yeah what was the issue from your point of view both of I have a very strong
33:26personality I am person I need the time to think about to make a decision and keep going I'm very
33:33straightforward and sorry if that man I make you you know feel upset and I say twice shut up but
33:40doesn't mean I am rude or something I think there's a very no filter way to react the you know what I mean
33:50I'm yeah the judges sent you home on this challenge do you think you should have gone home I think I
33:56deserve it because we are the owning group you know work as a team so I think it's fair there was no
34:03shortage of tears this season and it seems that everyone had his or her breaking point let's take
34:10a look Amanda what's the matter it's not my day and no more tears they're stronger than this there's
34:18one opportunity that I have to do plus size and I wanted to do that and I just really really felt the
34:23pressure I'm so disappointed over myself no no David no no just not proud of my work and that's a bad
34:43feeling to have so emotional right now you know it's like big ideas big ideas I need to be
34:52there for him I'm so done with this what do you think it is about Project Runway that brings out
35:05these extremes of emotion I just feel all creative people are emotional people and all of us are so
35:12creative emotions had to come out and we love what we do it's like we're putting our heart on a table
35:18we're fighting every competition yeah and so it's like we believe it and so if we didn't really care
35:23I don't think we would cry that much I would just like to say because obviously I did cry a lot this
35:27season it was out of frustration and frustration sure my job was to make amazing fashion that was
35:32gonna wow the judges and because they didn't feel that way is why I personally cried as much as I did
35:37I'm yeah what's going on between you and Blake we're trying to get drunk yeah I mean it looks
35:44like you're you already are drunk and that the two of you need to get a room remember he doesn't know
35:49where the caslapas all right moving on everyone do you all have a favorite look that you made or that

37:18oh I thought no I mean leaving oh I haven't really dwelt on it I did it I still buy it they
37:26didn't like it I learned something I made a great group of friends I'm gonna see these guys and talk
37:31to them for the next how many years wonderful I'm not gonna talk to Zach and Nina probably I'm not it's
37:37great I've flown to New York I now live here and I got a lot of good things coming my way that's

37:56being the best at things but in this environment I think it's a whole different ballgame ultimately I
