00:01Tonight on the Project Runway Season 16 Reunion Special.
00:07All 16 designers reunite.
00:10Clear up some issues.
00:11Why would you bring something that was against the rules?
00:13Come on, things happen.
00:15Voice their opinions.
00:16I thought it was completely inhumane.
00:19It's called integrity.
00:20And settle their disputes once and for all.
00:23I don't think you're telling the truth.
00:25That entire situation for me was a blur.
00:27You know the truth.
00:28You either tell the truth or you don't.
00:34Welcome to the Project Runway Season 16 Reunion Special.
00:38Hi, everyone.
00:39How are you?
00:40Good.
00:41It's great to see all of you again.
00:43Our final five.
00:45And I have to say you all look spectacular.
00:47Oh, thank you.
00:48Of course you would.
00:49You look great too.
00:51I want you all to know something in all sincerity.
00:54This may be my favorite season in the history of Project Runway.
00:59You have such unique points of view as designers.
01:03You couldn't be more different as a group.
01:05Could you possibly?
01:06One of the things that I love about the season is that it's such a celebration of diversity.
01:11Yes.
01:12When we look at the five of you, I love celebrating your differences.
01:16Your differences in backgrounds, your differences in beliefs, your differences in points of view as a designer.
01:22And also, I am so just proud and delighted that you each have been who you really are.
01:30So, kudos to all of you and kudos to Project Runway for helping lead this discussion in many, many ways.
01:38Absolutely.
01:39So, Kentaro.
01:40Yes.
01:41You were the winner of season 16.
01:43How do you feel?
01:44Like, I feel humbly honored.
01:46And five of us talented designers, it couldn't have been anyone to be the winner.
01:51I mean, I even feel like I want to share this win with everybody.
01:55Especially my brother, Brandon.
01:57We kind of help each other.
01:58How was your Project Runway experience in general?
02:01Oh, it was wonderful.
02:02I did a lot of things like I wouldn't do.
02:05Come up with different ideas, different way of constructing garment.
02:09A lot of pieces I made, I'm kind of surprised, like, oh, I could have done that.
02:14Wonderful.
02:15Good.
02:16How do you feel about Kentaro's win?
02:17Ayana?
02:18Well, I thought it was going to be me.
02:22I do agree with Kentaro.
02:24It really could have been any of us.
02:25But at the same time, I think that you deserve it just as much as I do.
02:29So, congratulations.
02:31You know, like, everybody's journey is different.
02:33And that was meant for him to have.
02:35And I'm happy that he has it.
02:37Out of this whole experience, it's going to be something great for everybody sitting on this sofa.
02:42So, congrats to you.
02:44And if you do want to share it, I will gladly take a small percentage.
02:49I will.
02:51Yeah.
02:52Wonderful.
02:53I learned something about you that I only had an inkling about.
02:56And that is that you were apparently quite funny.
03:00Let's take a look.
03:01Good morning.
03:02Good morning.
03:03Yay.
03:04Thank you, bitch.
03:07Oh!
03:08I didn't like how this, like, the pink kind of does this one.
03:11No, because it's nice when it oozes out a little bit.
03:14Yeah.
03:15Don't be so...what do you call that?
03:16Anal.
03:17Yeah.
03:18I am super anal.
03:19Heidi and the team said, Kentaro, don't be too anal.
03:22I want to be stopping anal because I don't like to be anal all the time.
03:27Like, good morning anal, like, no, I'm not anal.
03:30Stop, Samantha.
03:31Are you calling me anal?
03:34You make me laugh.
03:35Aww.
03:37You make me feel anal.
03:41And Kentaro, you are anal.
03:46I'm proud of it.
03:47Good.
03:48Own it.
03:49And Ayana, I have to tell you, you had a spectacular collection at New York Fashion Week.
03:55You did.
03:56And your finale dress was one of the most beautiful garments I have ever seen.
04:00I want to know how you describe your experience on Project Runway.
04:03A lot of growth.
04:05I feel like I made a lot more friends than I ever expected.
04:09I thought we would just kind of be at each other's necks all the time.
04:12But, I mean, we were really good competition for each other.
04:15But more than anything, I feel like motivation for each other.
04:19For me, the Project Runway experience was just kind of learning that it was okay for me to stand in my own power.
04:24It was okay for me to kind of shine in my own way.
04:26I feel like it kind of set me up to do something even bigger than I thought I could.
04:30So, I'm really excited for the future.
04:32You should be.
04:33And, Brandon, you came here as a menswear designer.
04:35So, how has the experience and the process been for you?
04:38It's been really cool.
04:39You know, I'm just happy that my style and my aesthetic translated so well.
04:43I feel like I stayed true to who I am.
04:45Well, I also happen to know that a number of the models had a big crush on you.
04:50Were you aware of that?
04:51I like all of them.
04:52No.
04:53No.
04:54I don't know.
04:55No.
04:56God.
04:57He's covering his ass.
05:00They weren't trying to seduce you.
05:01Mm-hmm.
05:02Little secret dark corners.
05:03Sure.
05:04Sure.
05:05I mean, they were nice.
05:07They had some nice words and they, yeah, they were sweet.
05:11Good morning.
05:12How are you?
05:13I was so happy to find out that Brendan is my designer, actually.
05:17All the girls are kind of like in love with him, so.
05:20Brendan's a sweetheart.
05:22Everybody wants Brandon.
05:23They want to have his child.
05:24It's gonna be lit, I promise.
05:26The models are a lot of personality and I'll take any of them.
05:29I love Brandon.
05:30I'm pretty sure all these models have a crush on him, but he does have a girlfriend, so FYI.
05:38All right.
05:39Margarita, you had a knockout of a show.
05:44It was simply over the top and I thought spectacular also.
05:48Thank you very much.
05:49Thank you very much.
05:50And you had probably one of the most memorable runway moments when Jasmine took off the skirt
05:56and there she was, curves and all.
06:00Wow.
06:01Yeah, runway moment.
06:06That was a fantastic moment.
06:08I agree.
06:09And you've also had quite a rollercoaster of a journey here.
06:13Yes, I have.
06:14We want to take a look.
06:16Lovely, let's watch.
06:18My name is Margarita Alvarez.
06:21I am 30 years old from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
06:24Growing up in Puerto Rico was amazing.
06:26I mean, you're on a beautiful island.
06:28It sounds like you maybe begrudgingly made the move to the United States.
06:32Yeah.
06:33I saw what was happening with Puerto Rico and it's really bad.
06:36Like, the economy's terrible.
06:38I had a design company back in Puerto Rico that I had to close down.
06:42And my parents, they're like, get out.
06:44They're like, if you want to be successful in your field, you have to leave.
06:52And I was like, you're right.
06:54Whew.
06:55Mama.
06:56I kind of want to add a little margarita.
06:58Margarita, you are the winner of this challenge.
07:03Congratulations.
07:04I'm sorry you're out.
07:09Thank you for all your support.
07:13Wait a minute.
07:15You're not going anywhere.
07:18I'm using my Tim Gunn save.
07:20Yay!
07:22Thank you so much.
07:28Margarita, when you reflect upon your Project Runaway experience, what would you say you've learned?
07:35I'm really happy that I got the chance to self-reflect and now I'm here and I feel like I'm stronger than ever.
07:41And I'm proud that you were the Tim Gunn save.
07:45I'm so thankful again.
07:46That was such a special moment.
07:48I will never forget it.
07:49I won't either.
07:50We're going to take a break.
07:52And when we come back, we'll have some of the stars of the season.
07:55Coming up on the season 16 reunion special.
07:58Bring out the messiness.
08:01That's awesome.
08:02Oh, God, Kenya.
08:04What was going through your head at the time?
08:06I think I was just in shock.
08:13Welcome back to the Project Runway season 16 reunion special.
08:17Well, as you know, the five of you were given the opportunity to create collections for New York Fashion Week.
08:26And the judges had a very difficult time deciding who shouldn't show.
08:34Kenya.
08:39I'm so sorry.
08:40You're out.
08:44Oh, God, Kenya.
08:46I'm reliving it.
08:48What was going through your head at the time?
08:50I think I was in like a freeze frame.
08:52It wasn't registering, I don't think.
08:55I really felt like I was going.
08:57I really felt like I deserved to go.
09:01I wanted to go.
09:02And when I found out I wasn't going to go, it was more like a heartbreak.
09:09It felt that way.
09:11I think I was just in shock.
09:15You have a profound future.
09:17There are so many places you can go with your fashion.
09:19And you will.
09:22Now, I want to share that another reason why I love the season so much is because of the diversity of our models.
09:29We have models of every size and shape.
09:32In fact, I brought a few of them back.
09:36We're going to bring them out.
09:37Bring out the lusciousness.
09:39Come, ladies.
09:40Hi, Tam.
09:41Hi, Christina.
09:42How are you?
09:43Fabulous.
09:44Oh, my God.
09:45Hey, darling.
09:46Hello.
09:47Welcome, ladies.
09:48Welcome.
09:50I have to tell you something.
09:51Just by virtue of the fact that you're here says so much about your importance this season, it's been absolutely extraordinary.
09:57Lyris, how was your experience?
09:59I hope that we did help to expand the thinking of the general public as well as the future designers who are coming up.
10:07Most definitely.
10:08I'm happy that I'm able to be an advocate for curvy women.
10:11Thank you, Tim, for being an advocate for us.
10:13Always.
10:14I am so thankful.
10:15This is actually probably one of my first modeling jobs here in New York.
10:18I got an amazing education as well.
10:20It was an amazing experience.
10:21I really enjoyed it.
10:22Coming on, I think it was a huge step in the right direction because I'm sort of in between sizes.
10:27I don't get a lot of jobs because of my big Brazilian booty, but, like, it's not going anywhere, so.
10:33Well, we love your big Brazilian booty.
10:37It loves you.
10:38We have loved having models of all sizes this season, and especially the five of you.
10:46And we're going to take a little look.
10:48Oh, goody.
10:49Hopefully we don't say anything stupid.
10:51It's going to look nice once I take it all in.
10:54I love Kenya's vibes.
10:56Yes, baby.
10:57There we go.
10:58He took into consideration, like, my body shape.
11:00It kind of tugs me in the right place.
11:03I feel good.
11:04I get to have my leg out.
11:05Boom.
11:06Grab some pizza and some popcorn, because you're going to see a naked girl on Broadway.
11:11I really think her curves, everything, it just looks perfect today.
11:19I feel like, for the first time, really someone got her 100% right.
11:23That was a lot of fun.
11:26Designers, how was the experience for you?
11:29Designers should be able to design for women of all shapes and sizes, because that's real life.
11:35And Brandon, how did you grow and evolve?
11:37Well, you know, before coming on the show, I had never made women's clothes.
11:40When I found out we were dressing women of all sizes, I was happy because it allows me to
11:45diverse my skills.
11:46And ultimately, at the end of the day, I want to be the best designer I can be.
11:50Yasmeen and Leros, I want you to know that Nina Garcia is inviting you to be part of a digital feature for Mary Claire.
11:58Wow.
11:59Wow.
12:00Congratulations.
12:01Oh, my God.
12:03So, congratulations.
12:05We hope you'll agree.
12:06Of course.
12:07Oh, my God.
12:08That's awesome.
12:10Finally.
12:11Finally.
12:12We're going to take a break, and when we come back, we'll be joined by more designers.
12:18Coming up on the Season 16 Reunion Special.
12:21That was a very dramatic moment.
12:24Completely inhumane.
12:25You know, it was going to happen sometime.
12:27Why would you bring something that was against the rules?
12:29You know, we all surrendered all our stuff.
12:31We're going to go there.
12:38Welcome back to the Project Runway Season 16 Reunion Special.
12:42And joining us are Michael, Amy, Botany, Sean, and Claire.
12:47And it's great to see all of you.
12:49You as well.
12:50And, Michael, you epitomize Heidi's catchphrase of one day you're in, the next day you're out.
12:55You won a challenge.
12:56Yeah.
12:57And the next challenge, you were out.
12:59Were you shocked?
13:00I mean, not necessarily because it's the name of the game.
13:05You know, like, you'll get eliminated if you have the weakest look, and I'm okay with that.
13:09Because I left on a look that I love, and I left on a strong look.
13:12Mm-hmm.
13:13And, Amy, how was this experience for you, especially being a fashion teacher?
13:17Um, it was very humbling in the sense that I kind of became the student as much of a teacher.
13:22But I felt good about that.
13:23Because you know what?
13:24I would rather walk off for my own responsibility than because there was a competitive angle that didn't feel right to me.
13:29I know exactly how you feel.
13:30Yeah.
13:31And I loved having you here.
13:32Anytime.
13:33Clare and Sean, we have never had relatives on the show, let alone twins, let alone identical twins.
13:42Correct.
13:43You two left quite an impression.
13:46I'm Sean.
13:47I'm Claire.
13:48We're identical twins.
13:50I'm really loving the environment in the workroom.
13:53We're all kind of in the zone.
13:55It's very zen.
13:56It's quiet.
13:57Oh, my goodness.
13:58Where is she?
13:59Hi, guys.
14:00Hi.
14:01Claire, I'm here.
14:02Sure enough, first thing is Claire, Seanie.
14:06And it's back to...
14:08Oh, my God!
14:11Oh!
14:12Seanie!
14:14I'm just tired of the twins running around the workroom.
14:17Like they've lost it.
14:18Woo!
14:19Woo!
14:20If I can find something in the pink family, I'll do that.
14:21But if it's only blue, I'll do blue.
14:22Sean and Claire get into this annunciation thing where they are quite pleased with what is going on.
14:37I'm pleased at where I'm at thus far.
14:41I think there's something familial happening.
14:44Indeed.
14:45Indeed.
14:46Indeed.
14:47Indeed.
14:48There was a challenge when the two of you were actually a team and you ended up being the losing team.
14:54Yes.
14:55That was a very dramatic moment.
14:58We truly don't know who's more responsible for what luck and who did what.
15:03You will be going head-to-head in a one-hour challenge.
15:06I just have to do something.
15:13It's not the point of it being pretty, babe.
15:16I just don't want to, babe.
15:18I just don't want to.
15:19I know.
15:24Where's Tim?
15:25I think it's Claire that needs to stay.
15:29Come on, babe.
15:30You know I love you so much.
15:33You'll make beautiful things without me, okay?
15:35It's very, very, very hard.
15:42Claire is here for a reason and she needs to continue and I need to concede.
15:48I mean I know you guys obviously work together and I understand that it was like really difficult to have to compete against each other.
15:58Yeah.
15:59But did it come as a shock to you that the judges would want to know who could create what?
16:03No, I don't think so.
16:04I suppose, you know, when you're in the moment it was kind of the, not attack by any means.
16:09The onslaught of emotion.
16:10The onslaught of emotion that became a barrier.
16:13How did the rest of you feel about the judges decision to have Claire and Sean face off?
16:18I agree with it.
16:19I was kind of looking forward to one of you leaving because I wanted to see individually what you were made of.
16:25I disagree.
16:26I thought it was completely inhumane.
16:29Speaking for the judges, I believe they did the right thing.
16:32I will always fall on the sword for Claire.
16:37For the rest of you, were Sean and Claire a distraction in the work room?
16:42We all know that to be true but I mean point of order right now, you both walked into this competition breaking the rules and knowing you were breaking the rules.
16:50Wait, by helping one another, Amy?
16:52No, by bringing a stupid tape measure.
16:53I mean it was just a stupid tape measure but why would you bring something that was against the rules?
16:57We all surrendered all our stuff.
16:59We're gonna go there.
17:00It feels very petty at that point.
17:01Let's switch gears for a minute and move on to another relationship.
17:05Okay.
17:06Brandon and Kentaro.
17:08Brother.
17:09Brother.
17:10You developed quite a brotherhood, did you not?
17:14Yeah, we did.
17:15We definitely did.
17:16Yeah, you became fast friends quickly.
17:17Yeah.
17:18No, for sure.
17:19Let's take a look.
17:21Okay.
17:22Hey, brother.
17:23Yeah, buddy.
17:24Good, yeah?
17:25Yeah.
17:26Bro, the thing is going down, me and my brother Kentaro.
17:29Okay, dog?
17:30I love that Brandon and Kentaro are brothers.
17:34Oh.
17:35Kentaro and Brandon have such a funny kind of relationship.
17:39They have like a bromance of sorts.
17:41I'm going to twist it, sweep like this and like clopped up like this.
17:47Brother.
17:48Open.
17:49Brother.
17:50Yeah, brother.
17:51Brother.
17:52What do you think about this one?
17:53I like to get that one.
17:54They click.
17:55It makes sense.
17:56Brother.
17:57I'm gonna need your eyeball.
17:58Eyeball.
17:59So what was it that made the two of you connect so well?
18:02I think it's a laid back cool vibe that they both have.
18:05He's just super focused and he's good at what he does and I was just drawn towards that.
18:09It's good to have someone I can trust.
18:11Hey, Brandon, what do you think?
18:12Well, you two helped each other a lot in the workroom.
18:14Definitely.
18:15I find it like weird that we're kind of criticizing the twins for a collaboration that was innate
18:22in them and then we're kind of praising them for similar instances.
18:27Yeah, that's a good point.
18:29I see a lot of similarities between the two sets of us.
18:33It does somewhat dishearten me that we get a lot of flack for working together.
18:38I think the difference just became in you guys were quiet.
18:41You work together very peacefully, you know, you guys weren't so quiet.
18:44You didn't work together so peacefully.
18:45Well, I-
18:46So there's impressions formed from that.
18:47I suspect that the two of you wanted to stay out of the drama, not create it.
18:52If everyone was so irritated about me being loud or being-
18:55Why didn't they say anything?
18:56Why didn't we say anything?
18:57Why didn't we say anything?
18:58Don't believe me.
18:59Yes, we did.
19:00What the are you talking about?
19:01I said that mad times.
19:03We're going to take a break and when we come back we'll have more designers join us.
19:09Coming up on the season 16 reunion special.
19:12It was what you were wearing.
19:14Our lack of.
19:15I don't feel that I was able to express my side of the story.
19:21This is your opportunity.
19:24Welcome back to the Project Runway season 16 reunion special.
19:32We have all 16 designers here.
19:34Hi everyone.
19:35Hi.
19:36Welcome Sintel and Samantha, Aaron, Deontay, Kudz and I and ChaCha.
19:41Hey.
19:42We're happy to have you here.
19:43We're now a full group.
19:45And Deontay, congratulations to you.
19:49Since we were last together, you have become a father.
19:52I have.
19:53So how is it having a newborn?
19:55No sleep.
19:56But you didn't have any sleep here either.
19:58I didn't either.
19:59It was preparing me.
20:00Exactly.
20:01It was the rehearsal for the whole thing.
20:02It's incredible.
20:03It was the best.
20:04Just overwhelmed with joy.
20:05That's wonderful.
20:06Really.
20:07Aaron, since the show has been airing, do people recognize you?
20:10Yeah.
20:11It's really funny.
20:12Like a cute little people walk up to me and like, oh my god, hey, what's up?
20:15And I'm like, oh my god, hey, what's up?
20:17I don't know.
20:18Well, while we all were very enraptured in our own way with things that you made, it was
20:25what you were wearing.
20:26For lack of.
20:27That was completely enrapturing and sometimes a little baffling.
20:31Let's take a look.
20:35The beauty of fashion is there's no rules anymore.
20:37He's a dude wearing a dress, like this is crazy, but for me it's just normal.
20:41Aaron is very quirky and very much who he is unapologetically, which brings on all of
20:47his greatness.
20:50What do you think, Zach?
20:51I don't know.
20:52I saw London.
20:53I saw France.
20:54Aaron, thank goodness you're wearing underpants.
21:02Aaron, we salute your style and also your bravery.
21:08All right.
21:09We all know that the biggest controversy this season was the cheating scandal.
21:16Claire, congratulations.
21:17You are the winner of the challenge.
21:23Michael, why are you running off the stage?
21:26What happened?
21:27What is happening?
21:29Michael, what's wrong?
21:30What's wrong?
21:31I apologize for making a scene.
21:33I sincerely apologize for that.
21:34What's wrong?
21:35I honestly don't know.
21:36All right.
21:37So I do believe in fairness and I believe that this one lacks that.
21:43Somebody tell us what is going on.
21:47She has a retractable ruler in the apartment that she goes home and measures her garments for
21:52proportion, for fit.
21:53How do we know that?
21:54Well, I am aware of this.
21:56I've seen it and we discussed it.
21:59She has mentioned it to me.
22:00Well, we will look into this.
22:02If this is happening, it must stop.
22:04Claire is measuring garments with a tape measure that we're not allowed to have outside of the workroom.
22:10Bottom line, that's what's wrong here.
22:12I have a tape measure.
22:13Which is explicitly.
22:14Fine.
22:15Then they can take it.
22:16We cannot have tape measures or pens or papers.
22:19It's unfair to the rest of us.
22:28All right.
22:29First things first.
22:30Claire.
22:31Yes.
22:32Is it true that you have had a measuring tape in your room?
22:34I have a measuring tape.
22:36Is it true that you've been measuring garments in your room?
22:39I have measured a tank top and I have measured the crotch of a parent.
22:42I have measured the crotch of a pair of pants.
22:44All right.
22:45Claire, we must rescind your win and send you home.
22:54Okay.
22:55What?
22:56That's fine.
23:00That's fine.
23:01Oh my gosh.
23:02That's fine.
23:06Claire's possession of the measuring tape in her hotel room and the fact that she used it
23:11to measure clothes that she owns and to make specifications is what is against the rules here.
23:17That's how my story is going to end.
23:22So I just want to make very clear here that the breaking of the rules was having the measuring tape at the hotel slash apartment.
23:31That is, as Amy said, expressly against the rules.
23:36That entire situation for me was a blur.
23:41I literally felt an onslaught of negativity.
23:48She said negativity.
23:49Of things that were coming my way.
23:51It happened so fast.
23:52I don't feel that I was able to articulate and adequately express my side of the story.
24:03This is your opportunity.
24:04What is your side of the story?
24:06I was being accused of having the measuring tape, but also of knocking off all of my designs.
24:12Yes.
24:13Yes.
24:14Using the measuring tape.
24:15I didn't, I initially make the connection that that's what they were saying.
24:20It's irrelevant.
24:21The kid hides a textbook underneath the table to read it during a test.
24:24They're still cheating.
24:25Yeah, really?
24:26Even if they don't need it, which you didn't need it.
24:27And that's the saddest thing about all of this.
24:28Hold on.
24:29How many questions were being thrown at me at once?
24:31You know the truth.
24:32You either tell the truth or you don't.
24:34It's not, there's no confusion in that.
24:36You seem to be backpedaling a little bit now.
24:38If it's in the work.
24:39Seriously.
24:40You stood up.
24:41I wish I had it.
24:42Claire.
24:43Yes.
24:44I'm going to ask a question.
24:46Did you have a measuring tape in your apartment slash hotel?
24:53Yes.
24:54At one time I had.
24:56Just yes, okay.
24:57Yes.
24:58And did you use it?
24:59I used.
25:01Just yes or no.
25:03Did you use it?
25:04No.
25:05Wow.
25:06I don't think you're telling the truth.
25:08Yeah, like why?
25:09You made a confession.
25:10Yes.
25:11In the designer's lounge.
25:12And that's what I responded to.
25:14You said it yourself.
25:15We didn't need to go find anything.
25:17You said it.
25:18I answered the question that I thought that I had heard.
25:22And the question was, did you have a measuring tape?
25:25And I said yes.
25:26Because at one time, yes, I had brought a measuring tape home absentmindedly.
25:30Yes.
25:31You asked if I had taken measurements of clothing.
25:34And I had said yes because I had taken measurements of clothing.
25:38In the bathroom, in the workroom.
25:41Confused.
25:42No.
25:43No.
25:44No.
25:45I mean, I don't get it.
25:46Two million people just watched what we watched.
25:49I don't think there's a source of confusion.
25:51What I think was probably the biggest mistake was revealing it on stage because I felt like I should have probably talked to Claire.
25:58I was trying to kind of just bring it to light and have it resolved.
26:02What we knew that she was doing was cheating.
26:04I didn't want her to get kicked off.
26:06That was never my intention.
26:07I was stunned, shocked, and completely dismayed when Michael revealed to me the true cheating.
26:13Which was the measuring tape and the measuring.
26:15That is egregious cheating.
26:18And there's nothing gray about it.
26:22It's black or it's white.
26:24I...
26:25I have a question.
26:27Yes.
26:28Did you or did you not go against the rules?
26:30And if so, do you feel, do you apologize about that?
26:32Because I think this is your opportunity to kind of like say, you know what, I feel sorry.
26:36I apologize.
26:37I...
26:38It was against the rules.
26:39And...
26:40And you know what?
26:41It was bad judgment and...
26:42And it shouldn't have been done.
26:43I know that this competition lends itself to extreme anxiety and paranoia.
26:51Such a waste of time.
26:52It's fine.
26:53It is.
26:54This is turned to like the Claire and Sean show.
26:55They're never gonna own it.
26:56This is done.
26:57So let's just be done with it.
26:58What will be will be.
26:59And...
27:00You know?
27:01Let it lay.
27:02Let it lie.
27:03It was a whole lot of nothing.
27:05Let's move on, Tim.
27:06Let's move on.
27:07Let's move on.
27:08All right.
27:09What better way to turn around from this and go somewhere positive than to focus on Kenya?
27:16I'll take that.
27:18Well, you were a joy to be around.
27:21You put a smile on everyone's face.
27:23And you know how to tailor the living daylights out of a suit.
27:27Also, you were quite the songstress.
27:31I'm gonna hear a little bit about your background.
27:34Well, I'm just a little short bald head girl from Atlanta.
27:38I brought the A game.
27:40Taking my vitamin C.
27:41I'm not kidding around.
27:42I'm gonna make these dresses and I'm coming to murder you guys.
27:45Two.
27:46Four.
27:47Very good.
27:48Three.
27:49In a nice way.
27:50This super sucks.
27:51Woo.
27:52But Tim would always say, make it work.
27:53Yeah.
27:54Make it work.
27:55Make it work.
27:56Make it work.
27:57Make it work.
27:58Make it work.
27:59Make it work.
28:00Make it work.
28:01Make it work.
28:02That'll be $5.
28:03And how is it going over here?
28:04I don't know what to do.
28:05I am seriously terrified.
28:06How are you feeling?
28:07A little throw up-ish.
28:08I wouldn't call myself an emotional, crazy person.
28:21Yes, I am.
28:22My emotions are really kinda like all over the place.
28:25Like, I feel like I need my momma to come and give me a hug and like.
28:29Aw.
28:30Kenya.
28:31It is weird to watch me on TV.
28:35I'm like, who is that little round, little short little girl?
28:38We're gonna take a break and we'll be right back.
28:43Coming up on the Season 16 Reunion Special.
28:47Samantha, you're very quiet.
28:49You spent two episodes talking trash about what I made.
28:52Oh.
28:53Tell them, Samantha.
28:59Welcome back to the Project Runway Season 16 Reunion Special.
29:03Beginning several seasons ago, there's been a whole new beat in the show.
29:07And that is presenting the designs on the models who are wearing the top and bottom looks to the judges.
29:13I call it up close and personal or touchy-feely.
29:16And in that examination, your work has very little, if any, room for error.
29:23And let's take a look.
29:25Oh, gosh.
29:26Jesus.
29:27No.
29:28Magic.
29:29The buttons.
29:30The buttons.
29:31I know.
29:32As buttons.
29:33Yeah, it's perfect.
29:34There's no back to this.
29:35It's a tucked in piece of fabric.
29:37Oh, that's so crooked.
29:39Wow.
29:40The bows are different colors.
29:45The little detail of the piping.
29:47It's cool.
29:48And today, it's not pigeonholed into a cliché.
29:52I do want to feel this, though.
29:55Today, when we came in, like, he didn't have anything together.
29:58Maybe he panicked.
30:00What?
30:01Jump peek, Zach.
30:02Wait, what?
30:03What is this?
30:04How to get the layered looks without the bulk.
30:07Clever.
30:08Yeah, it is clever.
30:09Amazing.
30:10So how do you all feel about the fact that the judges have this experience with your work?
30:14Gotta like it.
30:15You don't like it, Kenya?
30:16Only one's good.
30:17No, I think it's good, for sure.
30:19Especially when you work so hard to make something for them to kind of get up close and really see, you know, how much effort you put into the detail.
30:26Well, that and, like, I feel like you can always kind of fake it for a runway.
30:31But, like, when you have to open it up and see how it's actually constructed, I think that changes everything.
30:37And I have to add that this season of fashion was unique, diverse, and for me, very inspiring.
30:44Everybody's aesthetic is different.
30:46Exactly.
30:47And I have to add that in some cases, the higher you soar, the further you fall.
30:53Yeah.
30:54Mm-hmm.
30:55So let's take a look at some of the best and worst looks of the season.
31:00Isn't that for the internet to decide?
31:11It's exuberant.
31:12It's regal.
31:13It's really, really pretty.
31:14Thank you so much.
31:25The print, the color, the fluidity really captured it for me.
31:31It is fabulous.
31:32It is different, something that we haven't seen before.
31:35I think it's absolutely beautiful.
31:37Your model today was the coolest by far on the runway.
31:40I'm personally a huge fan of yours, Margarita.
31:43Thank you so much.
31:44Like, that is what I would be running to JCPenney's to get.
31:49I don't even know where to begin.
31:51I mean, it kind of looks like a scrunchie.
31:53It's like a clown and a unicorn and a child.
31:58It looks like you've made it in 10 minutes.
32:01It kind of looks like a pinata that exploded.
32:04It's too, too, too much.
32:11This is Project Runway, not Project Kindergarten.
32:17See the disco ball.
32:18Turn around.
32:19Like a real disco ball.
32:20Keeps going and going.
32:21I mean, it looks so good from every angle.
32:23It really is fantastic.
32:26I think it's a showstopper.
32:27I love the bows.
32:28I love the color.
32:29I love the volume.
32:31Surrealist Bo Peep.
32:32Wonderful work. Fun.
32:38This is heaven.
32:39I think this is the chicest snow woman I have ever seen.
32:43Thank you so much.
32:45The best work far outweighs the worst.
32:48And that's another testament to the season of the show.
32:51And Ayana, you won both unconventional challenges.
32:54I did.
32:55As soon as I start to see stuff like that, I could do this with that.
32:58I could do this with that.
32:59You guys saw how much stuff I grabbed.
33:00I think I'm kind of like a scavenger or something.
33:03What the heck?
33:04Well, I have to say, you never lost sight of who you are.
33:07And you were determined to make designs for a modest woman.
33:13And you did.
33:14But you took it to entirely new levels.
33:16I think levels that even exceeded your own expectations.
33:18For sure.
33:19We're going to do it.
33:20We're going to take a look.
33:21Oh!
33:24This is your first unconventional materials challenge.
33:31I'd have to start because I'm starting to freak out.
33:33I am a modest designer.
33:34And the only thing that I'm seeing is clear plastic.
33:38So you will be able to see straight through it.
33:40I'm switching it up.
33:41I need to make this work.
33:46I was particularly impressed with Ayana.
33:50The drama of the fringe.
33:52There was utter elegance to this dress.
33:55The buttons in the back.
33:57That was like, oh, there goes my heart with this dress.
34:00Very dramatic without having to show a slice of skin.
34:04She looks so powerful and strong and sexy without showing any skin at all.
34:10Thanks.
34:11Ayana, how do you feel about showing the world that you can cover up your body yet still be fashion forward and chic?
34:18I was a little worried coming on Project Runway because everything has to have a sleeve.
34:23It has to have a pant.
34:24So it's like, I have to get more fabric.
34:26But at the same time, I never wanted the judges to say that anything was like matronly or dated or anything like that.
34:32So it was kind of like a constant struggle.
34:34But I did kind of do a couple that weren't fully modest to my standards.
34:38Just to kind of show them a little bit of flexibility in my skill set.
34:40I love it.
34:41So good.
34:42Just awesome.
34:43And I think for women, it's a lot of pressure on women to be sexy and show skin.
34:46And I think that what you do, you show that they can be sexy and still be covered.
34:50And you know, you're just really embracing that and showing different points of view about it.
34:54That's what I love too.
34:55We're going to take a break.
34:58Coming up on the season 16 reunion special.
35:01You guys don't even say it to us how annoying I am.
35:04That's true.
35:05That's a fact.
35:06Wah!
35:07Don't.
35:08Welcome back.
35:14I'm here with the season 16 designers.
35:17I just want to say that many of you had quite a lot to say when no one was watching.
35:24Let's take a look.
35:26I'll probably put a little piece of boning right there so it'll stay up on the side.
35:29Samantha's look kind of looks like poison ivy.
35:32There's a lot of green and a lot of texture and it looks kind of like a hot mess.
35:37Shawn's making a knockoff outfit.
35:39She went to the fabric store and said, where can I find this lace?
35:42This lace that I'm wearing.
35:43Are you that shameless, girlfriend?
35:45Hey, Claire?
35:46Can I have an opinion?
35:47Yes?
35:48Claire has to consistently come to the rescue of Shawn.
35:51Put the pocket bag in.
35:53You have to take them apart.
35:54Shawn can't work or create anything if her sister does not help her.
36:01Kenya's model looks like Cruella de Vil.
36:03I love it.
36:04What?
36:05That is just...
36:07Deante's look is pistachio color.
36:10I like to eat pistachio, but I don't like to wear pistachio.
36:13It's perfect.
36:14Brandon's look literally looks like a napkin tied around his model's body.
36:19That is not even clothing.
36:21That's a smock with sleeves and side boob.
36:24Brandon?
36:25Really?
36:26The pink pinafore with the topless top.
36:30What?
36:31Really?
36:32I love it.
36:33Kenya's, I think it looks like an oxblood mariachi band.
36:37I think it's heinous.
36:39Ah!
36:40So, how do you respond to that?
36:43I feel like the insecurities speak loud.
36:45That's all I can say.
36:46But just to say that my look is heinous?
36:48My look wasn't heinous.
36:49My look was everything.
36:50Okay, how about, I think in interviews, that is the one point of catharsis.
36:56We are all in this pressure cooker of an environment.
37:00And you know we're not going to say it to each other's faces.
37:03Why not though?
37:04Because you don't.
37:05Because you guys don't even say it to us how annoying I am.
37:09So, how about.
37:10Good, that's good.
37:11Right?
37:12No, but in this scenario that is not real life.
37:16It's called integrity.
37:17You are who you are.
37:18I don't go in interviews and say anything negative per se about anybody in here.
37:22Again, with the passive aggressiveness.
37:23But that wasn't about you Kenya.
37:24Because you would easily say, oh good luck, this whatever.
37:27But clearly in interviews, I mean, you're just having a good time.
37:30Well, so were you when.
37:32But that's true.
37:34That's a fact.
37:35But that's your opinion.
37:37That was an opinion.
37:38That's facts.
37:40Samantha, you're very quiet.
37:43How are you feeling about this?
37:44Yeah, because she's angry because they talk so much trash about her.
37:46Tell them, Samantha.
37:47Yeah, I never said a single bad word about you guys in an interview.
37:50Not one.
37:51And you spent two episodes talking trash about what I made.
37:55And I guess I'm just a little hurt.
37:57No, no.
37:58And I apologize, Samantha.
38:00If any of my actions caused you pain.
38:03Which I understand that they did.
38:05I greatly apologize for that.
38:07Because that's not dessert.
38:10Alright, designers.
38:11Who was the toughest guest judge?
38:14Carly.
38:15The wrist thing.
38:17What is that?
38:18It looks like a phone charger.
38:20Now I can't stop looking at it like an umbilical cord.
38:23To be very blunt, it just feels basic.
38:27It's very hooker-ish.
38:28Like tacky and cheap.
38:31I hate it.
38:34She was ruthless.
38:35Carly would like hearing that probably.
38:37Yeah.
38:38I would say Demi Lovato.
38:39Demi Lovato?
38:40I was shocked.
38:41I really dislike the shorts.
38:44I don't feel like if I put that on I would feel sexy in it.
38:46The elastic band, it's like driving me crazy.
38:49I wish that it was a bit more practical and flattering.
38:53There are 16 of you sitting here.
38:56Who is the most underestimated designer this season?
39:00Underestimated?
39:01Amy.
39:02Amy.
39:03Thanks guys.
39:06I felt like there were so many challenges that we all thought.
39:09I thought Amy was going to be on top.
39:11The first one she won because it was like a show.
39:14She put on a show.
39:15The dance one too.
39:17Just to watch Amy drape.
39:19I was like, oh gosh, could you teach me?
39:21She's genius.
39:22I want to say cuz I think your style is super dope, bro.
39:25And I think that like what you do and your techniques,
39:28it just it takes a lot of time to like do all the like mending and meshing of fabrication.
39:32And so yeah, it's kind of hard to shine on this stage with such a short time given.
39:37I appreciate it.
39:39I agree.
39:40You have to see it up close to appreciate it and I'm definitely a fan.
39:43So, the producers put together a little clip that they're calling Tim-isms.
