00:05You know, the last challenge, I mean, I get this close, and I let it slip out of my hand.
00:18Hi. Hi. Hello. Why aren't there more emotions in this room? Because I certainly feel it.
00:28I don't believe it. Yeah, none of us do.
00:34I feel numb. I mean, I have to say, Edmund, look how far you've come. Season after season of auditions.
00:44Yes. Final four. I know. I mean, it's just something to be so incredibly proud of.
00:50I am. Uh-oh. Well, you're not going anywhere.
00:54Oh. Ah. I'm using the same. I will be showing at New York Fashion Week, and I mean, I'm so
01:05thankful to Tim for saving me and just believing in me.
01:10You're too talented. We have to see more from you. Yes. I'm so unhappy.
01:14All right. We're all going. I know. You're all going. Yes.
01:17Let's celebrate. Thanks, Dan. Okay. I'm going to New York. Yes. I'm excited.
01:26Ah!
01:40Hello, designers. Hi. Hi. The final four. Yes. And I thought it was going to be the final three.
01:48Thanks, Tim. Edmund, I have to say, I'm really glad that Tim used to save to keep you in the
01:54competition.
01:54Thank you. I feel like I'm just ready to get started and just really blow your mind with my collection.
02:00Really, congratulations to all of you. You've made it to Fashion Week. How thrilling is this?
02:04I don't even know. Amazing.
02:05Yes. All right. Let's get down to business. The four of you have seven weeks before you will be back
02:11here to show your collections, and you have a lot of work to do.
02:15Mm-hmm. We will be giving each of you $9,000. That's lame. That's awesome.
02:20To create a 10-look collection.
02:22And before you know it, I'm going to be knocking on your door to check in with you.
02:27So clean your house because Tim is coming to town.
02:31This is the big stage. This is what you work for as a designer. This is it.
02:37I wish all of you good luck, and I'm going to see you back here at New York Fashion Week.
02:41Yay! Bye, guys.
02:43Work hard, everybody.
02:50First, I'm going to check in on Ashley in San Diego.
02:57I'm hoping that Tim likes where I'm going with this collection.
03:01I just hope he sees my vision without actually having pieces on the rack for him.
03:09Ashley!
03:10Hi, Tim!
03:11How are you?
03:11Welcome!
03:12Thank you. I'm so thrilled to see you.
03:14Thank you for coming out.
03:15Thank you for having me.
03:16My inspiration is going back to my heritage, and I wanted to take Mexico City in the 1950s and modernize
03:25it.
03:25I actually hand-dyed all the fabrics that I got.
03:28Oh, good heavens.
03:30So this was all white, including the sequins?
03:32I want to go back a little bit more and just dye these pieces that weren't, like, these patches.
03:37Actually, I rather like them.
03:38It shows the application of your hand, and that personalizes it so much more than if it were perfectly even.
03:44I would like to put all models in this.
03:48I wanted to have this big with, like, wavy hair.
03:56Here's the one bit of guidance I want to give you.
04:01They tend to have an association that's matronly.
04:06But I also think that the fact that you're pushing at the boundaries of that is exciting.
04:12Okay.
04:12You're not playing it safe.
04:13No, I don't want to play it.
04:14I don't want to play it safe at all.
04:15I'm on the right track, and he loves everything that I'm doing, from the headpieces to dyeing my fabric.
04:23I'm just glad that he appreciates those little things that matter the most to me.
04:28Yes.
04:32We're here.
04:33Hi.
04:35Hello.
04:36Hi.
04:36How are you?
04:37We weren't waiting for you because you're going to wear an apron.
04:39Oh, good.
04:40Put me to work.
04:41You're going to make tortillas.
04:42I love it.
04:43They're the ones that have been doing all-nighters with me when I have a big project due the next
04:48day.
04:49To have them here and to have Tim here at the house, it's everything.
04:53I'd love to hear from Maria what Ashley was like as a child and whether she ever anticipated
04:58that Ashley would be a fashion designer.
05:08She said she's one of those, go get it, you know?
05:12And she is.
05:17She loves her so much.
05:20It's beautiful.
05:21Yeah.
05:22So proud.
05:24They're so proud of me right now.
05:26And it's too overwhelming because I never expect, you know, this going to be this big.
05:31It's big.
05:32Being able to show the world who I am as a designer, it's bringing happiness to my family.
05:41So what do you think?
05:42I'm very excited.
05:44And I'm especially excited that Ashley wants to use plus-size models.
05:48I love it because we need that.
05:50I agree.
05:51I'm a plus-size.
05:53Well, most women are.
05:54Yeah, yeah.
05:56For Ashley to be able to inspire millions of women who will say, I want to look like that.
06:03I mean, how wonderful is that?
06:05Love to everyone.
06:06Thank you so much.
06:07Thank you very much.
06:08Friday.
06:08Bye-bye.
06:09Bye-bye.
06:13Next, I'm going to check in on Candace in San Francisco.
06:16Today, Tim Gunn is going to visit myself and my family and introduce Tim to my mom and my world.
06:25Did you ever think that this would happen?
06:27No, but I knew you were going to be some.
06:31That's all that's left.
06:33Don't make me cry before Tim gets here.
06:36He's going to walk up and we're all going to be in tears.
06:38I know, but I am proud of you.
06:41You're doing stuff that a lot of people only dream of doing.
06:46Oh, my God.
06:47Oh, there he is.
06:48Hi.
06:49This is my mom, Dale.
06:50I'm so happy.
06:50So lovely to meet you, Dale.
06:51I love you.
06:52You're welcome.
06:53Thank you so much.
06:54How are you, Preseus?
06:55How pretty you are.
06:56Hi, Logan.
06:57Are you going to say hi?
06:58Are you being shy?
06:59Do you want to have a seat?
07:00I'd love to.
07:01Dale, I mean, how are you feeling about all this?
07:03I mean, what kind of opportunity is this?
07:04It's huge for her.
07:06She definitely didn't grow up with a silver spoon in her mouth.
07:09So everything she does, she's worked really, really hard for.
07:13Project Runway definitely changed me.
07:15I have all these layers to me that I realized I didn't have, emotions that I didn't experience
07:21before.
07:22I've just grown.
07:23I've evolved.
07:24We're going to go look at your mom's collection.
07:26We'll see you.
07:27Let's see you in New York.
07:27All right, yes.
07:28I'll let you lead the way.
07:33Well, I can tell this is you.
07:35It's the understructure for the finale piece.
07:37And it lives out here?
07:38For now, it's going to because it doesn't fit in my studio.
07:42Oh.
07:42I can't wait to walk him through the evolution of the collection and the story.
07:49What a nice space.
07:50I hope he sees what I see.
07:53So what was your inspiration?
07:54I stayed in New York for a little while.
07:56I went and saw China Through a Looking Glass at the Met.
07:58And so it's very Asian, Japanese, Chinese inspired.
08:02And I knew I wanted to do three-dimensional pieces.
08:04And it took me along this journey where I arrived to this piece.
08:09It's real wood.
08:10So this is around the waist?
08:12Yep.
08:12It's going to sit on top of her red leather gown.
08:15This is spectacular.
08:16I love it.
08:17All right, what should we look at next?
08:18It's a black kimono.
08:19So it's laser-cut leather.
08:21It's a cowhide.
08:22Can I pick it up?
08:23Yeah, it's heavy.
08:24But it looks so good.
08:25Good God, Candace.
08:26I mean, honestly, with one hand, I can't lift it.
08:28I feel so mysterious in it.
08:31It's me in a coat.
08:32But Project Runway has given me that confidence
08:35to experiment in color and texture and print.
08:38I don't know.
08:38I just feel like I've found myself.
08:40How many yards of this do you have?
08:41I bought, I believe it was 18 yards.
08:45And so this is going to drape around the cage.
08:48Wow.
08:48I want the pieces to grow and grow and grow.
08:51And then all of a sudden, it's just like, whoa.
08:53I'm going to be a blunt instrument.
08:56With this and the cage, I mean, it's going full tilt drag queen.
09:03It's the color.
09:04It looks cheap.
09:07I think you need to tone it down, not look like you're trying too hard.
09:11Don't lose your critical eye.
09:13Tim says, step back and edit.
09:16But we're putting on a show and you only have 10 looks.
09:19They better be extravagant.
09:21That's all I'm saying.
09:29I'm going to Springfield, Massachusetts to check in on Kelly.
09:35Hi.
09:36I'm so happy to see you.
09:38How are you?
09:40You look great.
09:42I got my hair done.
09:44I haven't slept in two days because I'm so excited to see Tim.
09:47Welcome to my studio, Tim.
09:49Wow.
09:50How many looks do you have?
09:51I have 10.
09:52You have 10 done?
09:52Coming home from the competition, as much as I wanted to just sit back for a few days and
09:58relax, I was like, I didn't come this far to be sitting with my ass in the wind.
10:04So I'm really inspired by the 70s sort of style.
10:08So I was thinking Studio 54 meets New Wave Streetwear.
10:15This was the first piece I made.
10:16Okay.
10:17Craftsman detail.
10:18So I took piping and piped each one with a gold and a silver because I really wanted to
10:23mix it.
10:23And I'm obsessed with this wood.
10:25I also love the wood.
10:27Before Project Runway, the materials that I used were like yarn.
10:31Like things that you go get at like the thrift store.
10:34I did all the zipper detail.
10:35Oh, it's zippers.
10:36And now that I have the ability and the budget to create a collection that's in my head,
10:41I can now bring it to life is exactly what I've always wanted to do.
10:45I took this piping and I did this all by hand.
10:47Good God.
10:48The whole front of it.
10:49Yeah.
10:50Like this thing took me like three days.
10:51It looks sublime.
10:53Awesome.
10:54And then I made fanny packs from scratch.
10:56Oh my God, I'm thrilled.
10:57Right when they said you're going to fashion week, the first thing that clicked in my head
11:00was fanny packs.
11:01Like if you see the knot of the wood of the fanny pack, it matches up with the knot, you
11:05know?
11:05And just imagine like with the headphones, I just see it like such a cool girl.
11:09What you have here is a show.
11:11Yeah.
11:12You have a real show.
11:13I love that.
11:14I think overall and hearing that Tim is so in love with it, it is just blowing my mind.
11:18Are you hungry?
11:19What do you have in mind?
11:20I used to work at a restaurant down the street, so I want to take you.
11:23Let's go.
11:23All right.
11:28My mom couldn't be here, so I'm taking Tim to see my dad, my cousin, and my aunt.
11:33Very nice to meet you, Tim.
11:34Nice to see you.
11:35So when did Kelly first start designing in terms of when it came into your radar?
11:40Oh my God, she was young.
11:41You were always coming up with different things.
11:43We opened that door, Kelly come walking in, and we never knew what to expect.
11:47How are you feeling about New York Fashion Week?
11:50I mean, we used to joke, we were like, don't get kicked off the first episode.
11:54Don't embarrass the family.
11:55Don't embarrass the family.
11:57Well, she hasn't done that.
11:58No, not at all.
12:00All right.
12:00Bye, everyone.
12:01I love you, too.
12:02I've fallen in love.
12:05Welcome to the deli.
12:08Wow.
12:09This is where I work.
12:10Kelly from the deli.
12:11Oh my goodness.
12:12We made a special sandwich for you.
12:14And he named it for you, too.
12:18Oh, how wonderful.
12:20And we can wrap this up for you to take with you.
12:21I'd love you, too.
12:21Do you mind?
12:22Absolutely.
12:22Rob, this is so lovely.
12:24Tim has his own sandwich now that is going to stay here forever.
12:27It's just like so surreal.
12:29It's just out of control.
12:30I'll see you at the end of next week.
12:32Awesome.
12:33Love you.
12:34Thank you, Tim.
12:34Bye.
12:35Bye.
12:40Next, I'm going to check in on Edmund in Atlanta.
12:45Tim Gunn is coming to my design studio.
12:48I'm anxious.
12:49I'm nervous.
12:50I really want to impress Tim because he did save me.
12:54Edmunds.
12:54Hello, Tim.
12:55How are you?
12:56I'm good.
12:56How are you doing?
12:57Great to see you.
12:57You too, man.
12:58Well, tell me about your vision first.
12:59What I want to incorporate is the glamorous side of fashion, the luxurious side of fashion,
13:04and I really want to make the most powerful impact and statement that I can.
13:08I tried out 13 times for Project Runway.
13:12I was so passionate and so driven, just staying focused and staying positive and keeping the
13:18faith.
13:18This material here, I love the volume of it and the flow.
13:22I agree.
13:23And this will be my finale piece.
13:25I've always wanted to do a gigantic black gown.
13:28It will be something that definitely you can wear to the Met Ball.
13:31And that's one of my goals in life.
13:33I want to dress someone for the Met.
13:35Use it.
13:35Go big.
13:36Definitely.
13:36Okay.
13:37I'm going to tell you something.
13:38These pieces with this ease and this flow, for me, this is the direction you need to go
13:43in.
13:43Yes.
13:44And I would beat back the architecture.
13:47Okay.
13:47But you have a lot of work to do.
13:49You basically have to execute one look a day.
13:52Yes.
13:52Between now and when you ship.
13:54And that's a lot.
13:55I've got to kill it.
13:56Like, literally, I've got to show up and show out.
14:00How proud are you?
14:01Very.
14:02Very proud.
14:02Very proud.
14:03Very proud.
14:05I mean, I knew he was going to take it to a level with what he was doing, you know.
14:08Never knew it would get this far.
14:09But he talked about this and talked about this for so many years, you know.
14:13Well, and auditioned a lot.
14:15You know, when you sometimes do things and people don't believe in you, you know, you
14:20can easily go astray.
14:21But he learned a lot.
14:23I'm proud of you.
14:23Whatever.
14:24Yeah.
14:25Where I come from, saying you want to be a fashion designer is like saying you want to
14:27be an astronaut or saying you want to be the president of the United States.
14:30Like, it's something so different and so unique.
14:32Yeah.
14:33And still, it's in my DNA.
14:34It's who I am.
14:35I mean, I just feel like, yo, this is what I'm put here for.
14:38Everything he's done and everything that he's about to do, I just wish him the best.
14:45To your success at Fashion Week.
14:47Right.
14:54It feels great to be back.
14:55I just feel like I belong in New York.
14:58Holy crap.
15:03Hi.
15:04Hello.
15:05Hi.
15:06Welcome to New York.
15:08Hello.
15:09How do you see you?
15:10Hey.
15:12Yeah.
15:12What's up?
15:13What's up?
15:13How you doing?
15:14Good to see you.
15:14How do you do?
15:15How do you do?
15:16How do you do?
15:16How do you do?
15:16How do you do?
15:16How do you do?
15:17How do you do?
15:18I was going to have a drink.
15:21There's a note.
15:22Okay.
15:23So, hi, designers.
15:24Welcome back to New York.
15:25We've missed you.
15:25You should all be proud of yourselves.
15:27You've made it to New York Fashion Week.
15:29We'll see you soon.
15:30Hugs and kisses.
15:30Heidi and Tim.
15:31Yay.
15:33Woo!
15:35Cheers.
15:36Cheers.
15:36Fashion Week.
15:37Cheers.
15:39Did you guys ever think we'd be doing this right now?
15:41Oh, no.
15:42What do you think is going to feel like that moment when you step out on that runway and
15:46you look and see all those people and you introduce this collection that you've worked so hard on?
15:50It's going to, like, blow my mind.
15:51You already know what's going to happen to me.
15:53I'm just going to burst into tears.
16:06Wow.
16:08Oh, my gosh.
16:10Walking into the workroom today, you know, seeing my garments on the rack, you can reach out and almost touch,
16:16you know, or feel being there at Fashion Week.
16:18We're all so quiet.
16:20Everybody's quiet, right?
16:21I'm just, like, ready to go.
16:22I'm game.
16:27I need to get to work.
16:29I got a lot to do.
16:31No playtime?
16:31No, no playtime.
16:33Not right now.
16:34It is so nerve-wracking, like, taking all your pieces out.
16:38You would think that we would all, like, run over to each other's collections, but there is now tension between
16:45us four.
16:47Where can I even put this?
16:50I would say my biggest competition at this point would be Candace.
16:53What's this thing?
16:54It's a vest.
16:55And I think it's because of her big wow pieces.
16:58It's going to be cool to see.
17:00And it's two tears.
17:01Serious business.
17:02Yeah.
17:03Candace's collection, there's wood pieces, there's leather, there's all this volume, and there's a hat.
17:10She made a hat.
17:11It's a little intimidating.
17:13I don't know if I even want to look at it right now.
17:17Wow.
17:17Hi.
17:18Hey, hey, hey.
17:19Long time to see.
17:20Hello, Tim.
17:21Good morning, season 14 finalists.
17:23Yeah.
17:23Good morning.
17:24I'm thrilled to see all of you.
17:26How is everyone?
17:27Amazing.
17:27It's going to be an extremely busy week.
17:31It's New York Fashion Week.
17:32How thrilling is this?
17:33Awesome.
17:34Your first challenge, though, is to select three looks to present to the judges for their feedback.
17:42And in my experience, it has benefited every single solitary designer in the history of Project Runway.
17:50Okay.
17:51All right.
17:52All right.
17:53So three looks and one of those looks will be created today.
18:00A brand spanking new look.
18:05Of course.
18:06The last thing I want to do is make this new piece.
18:09I'm going to explode right now.
18:10Can I tell you something?
18:11It's an opportunity to replace a look if you choose.
18:14It has, in some cases, even been the strongest piece of the collection.
18:19I'm going to give you 30 minutes to sketch this new look.
18:23Then we're going to Mood, where you will have a budget of $250.
18:28Okay?
18:29And you can spend that $250 on anything that will enhance the collection.
18:35Awesome.
18:35All right?
18:36I'll be back.
18:37Thanks, Tim.
18:39Your face.
18:41Ah, impossible.
18:43Well, you have to design a look that's going to go with the whole collection, but the two looks that
18:47you're also going to show.
18:48So it's like a mini cohesive collection.
18:52Hi.
18:53All right, final four.
18:55Let's head off to Mood.
18:57All right.
18:58Head on out, everyone.
19:00It's more like a silk satin.
19:02I don't know how many yards, but I'm going to need some of this.
19:04Kelly, is that a collection fanny pack?
19:06It's an extra.
19:07I had to get the sparkly one.
19:09Okay, let's do five and five.
19:11Tim told me he would like more jewel tones in my collection, and I find this really pretty eggplant purple
19:19fabric, and I think this will definitely pop with the pastels.
19:23I can't find a black invisible zipper.
19:25Oh, they're gone.
19:26I got the last one.
19:27Oh, last one.
19:29Edmund wants to bite right now.
19:33I didn't do it.
19:35Designers, you have one minute remaining.
19:38Okay.
19:38And the only person I don't see is Edmund.
19:44Edmund.
19:45Okay, thanks.
19:45Time is up.
19:47I hear him.
19:48He's running.
19:53You're going to have to get $150 out of this.
19:58Oh, yeah, we got to put a lot of stuff back.
20:00Okay.
20:00I need this stuff to complete my look and do the exact vision that I want.
20:05What else is expensive in here?
20:07So, I mean, I got to make it work.
20:17It's actually really nice to come back to a room full of, like, a giant collection.
20:21Those zippers I put back, I need it.
20:24Edmund, let's get to work.
20:31When Edmund unpacks, it's a black and white dress, and it looks adorable, and it has drama
20:38to it.
20:38Oh, my God, shut up.
20:40I knew his ass was going to bring it.
20:43That's really striking, too.
20:45For this additional look, I'm going to be making a one-sleeved, very contoured, form-fitted
20:51dress.
20:52It has this, like, ruffle effect.
20:54I know that I have a lot to do still on the rest of the looks.
20:58This is going to take forever.
21:00For my piece I'm making today, I want to do a long dress and then have all this piping
21:06detail on the side.
21:07My collection, it's all about, like, small detail.
21:11Yeah.
21:12Looks really cool.
21:15And you never give compliments.
21:16What are you talking about?
21:18Well, I mean, like, when you say it, you mean it.
21:20Oh.
21:21I was like, that makes me sound like a bitch.
21:24Edmund doesn't give compliments, either.
21:26Does I do?
21:26Wow.
21:27Wow.
21:28That's what you want, the wow effect.
21:30Kelly really doesn't.
21:32Bitch.
21:34That is sick.
21:36And that's a compliment.
21:40My inspiration for this collection is Mexico City in the 1950s.
21:45First, let's start with Mary Kay Luminous Foundation in Bronze 1.
21:49This color is called Shy Blush.
21:51It will give a bit of texture.
21:53You look beautiful.
21:54I wanted to catch sort of, like, the 70s vibe.
21:57I have a lot of jumpsuits with, like, bell bottoms.
21:59We can start from gold, silver, to almost like a pink.
22:03Eyeliner inside, and then chic, this juicy guava.
22:06It's awesome.
22:07I love it.
22:08Beauty, glamour, and sexiness.
22:11We can use this to give you that really amazing glow.
22:16Exactly what I want.
22:17I knew I was in good hands.
22:18It's a little bit avant-garde, Asian-inspired.
22:21As far as the eyeliner, it can go thicker and then really out.
22:24When we think of the red lip, I think just a real scarlet red.
22:28Yeah.
22:29It's called really red for a reason.
22:31Look at that.
22:31I love that.
22:34Hi, Tim.
22:35Kelly.
22:36Hi.
22:36So what are you showing the judges tomorrow?
22:38I'm thinking these three.
22:39Okay.
22:40And I think I want to show them the fanny pack thing,
22:42even though I wanted to keep it a surprise.
22:44Just show one.
22:45Show one.
22:45That's what I'm doing, yeah.
22:46This is so you.
22:47I actually really like this look.
22:49I think it'll give a good feel of what my collection is all about.
22:51It does.
22:52I mean, I love it.
22:52I love your print mixing.
22:54And this one I'm working on.
22:55This is the new one?
22:56Yeah.
22:56I really like this print.
22:57Did you use this print before?
22:59Yeah.
22:59And I wanted to use a little more of it, so.
23:01I'm just mixing the piping and the zippers,
23:03and then it'll be open here and here.
23:05The only thing I want to say to you is from the side,
23:09it's an odd proportion relative to the hem.
23:12Okay.
23:12You may want it to be shorter than floor.
23:13I was kind of thinking it would be like right below the knee or something.
23:17Yeah.
23:17Thank you, Kelly.
23:18Talk to me.
23:19The three pieces that I'm showing,
23:21I feel like I am giving somewhat a feel of the actual collection.
23:25Good.
23:26My collection is very light and airy.
23:29I don't see what's light and airy about this.
23:32This looks buoyant, effervescent, without even touching it.
23:36Okay.
23:37This has a very different impact.
23:39This just feels more severe.
23:41So what is the new look you're creating?
23:43The new look will be creating in this.
23:46It's going to be white?
23:47Yes.
23:47Okay.
23:47It's going to be white, and it's going to be a wrap gown.
23:51Okay.
23:52This is somewhat the actual effect of it.
23:55What's this?
23:56A ruffle edge.
23:58This looks very ambitious.
23:59Mm-hmm.
24:00And that concerns me.
24:02It's your decision to make,
24:04but you have a lot of work to do between now and tomorrow.
24:07Huge amount.
24:08Start cutting.
24:12So, Candice, speak to me.
24:14I think the judges are going to be extremely surprised that I have print and color in my collection.
24:20You are reading my mind.
24:22Yeah.
24:23They are going to be, because these three looks don't include any of that.
24:26Yeah.
24:26I really want to put the pant and the corset in place of this.
24:30Why aren't you?
24:32I guess I wasn't thinking.
24:32What's going through your head?
24:34I mean, as far as I'm concerned, you have to put one of them in.
24:36I definitely can fix that.
24:39All right.
24:39The new look, which looks so...
24:42Me?
24:43Yeah.
24:44I wanted it to be cohesive,
24:46and I really did fall in love with the lines that I used during the red carpet challenge.
24:52And it goes deep in the back.
24:54Beautiful.
24:55And that's that awful candy fabric that I sprayed.
24:58But it has a delicacy that is such a wonderful counterpoint to the toughness of the leather.
25:04Yeah.
25:04I feel like this collection couldn't be more me.
25:08I agree with you a thousand percent.
25:10Beautiful.
25:10Thanks, Tim.
25:12How's Ashley?
25:13Good.
25:14This is the new look?
25:15This is the new look.
25:16Wow.
25:16I wanted to go with something form-fitting that I haven't really played up in the collection besides this that
25:24I showed you back at the home visit.
25:25And I just wanted to show more variety in this collection and still go with the theme of Mexico City
25:32in the 1950s.
25:34Do you plan on showing a headdress on each model?
25:36Yeah, because that's the whole collection.
25:38Okay.
25:39But I'm a little bit scared that they might say don't use it when I'm like...
25:44This is my thought about it.
25:46You're so wedded to these, and they're so important to you.
25:49I don't want this to be a stubbornness issue where it's like, well, screw them.
25:53I'm going to show all ten because you want to win.
25:56Yeah.
25:56So I would use one or possibly two and get their feedback.
25:59Okay.
26:00All right, designers.
26:01I'm excited about the presentation to the judges tomorrow, and I know that you are, too.
26:06You still have a lot of work to do.
26:08You have until 11 o'clock tonight, and I will see you tomorrow.
26:11Thank you, Tim.
26:12Bye.
26:15Hi.
26:16How are you?
26:17You like this one?
26:17You want to wear this one?
26:24Can you see?
26:26I think I am going to make the top a little bit longer.
26:29Now it needs to be form-fitting.
26:31Is that your finale?
26:32Yep.
26:32It's fierce.
26:34Oh, this is it.
26:35Cool.
26:36Bye.
26:36Bye.
26:37Bye.
26:37You're welcome.
26:41Running out of time.
26:45Okay, you guys.
26:46It's time to go.
27:00It is getting super serious in this room.
27:04Nobody's talking to anybody.
27:05We're, like, super focused on what we need to do.
27:10Is that your finale one right down there?
27:12Maybe it could be.
27:16Starting to warm up in here.
27:18We're in it to win it now.
27:19Like, I'm not going to tell you about my piece because you don't need to know.
27:23Like, there's not going to be any more helping each other at this point because we're just all in our
27:28own zone.
27:30Hi.
27:30Good morning, everyone.
27:31How are you?
27:32Good morning, Tim.
27:33Good morning.
27:33Your models are coming in soon.
27:35You will have 30 minutes with them.
27:37Then all of them will go to the Sally Beauty Studio and the Mary Kay Color Design Studio.
27:43Remember that the Just Fab Accessories wall is here for you, too.
27:48All right.
27:48Your models will come in soon.
27:50Okay.
27:50Thanks, Tim.
27:55Hi.
27:56I got a big prize.
27:57I'm going to give you this one.
27:59Yeah, you have to wear a headpiece.
28:01I decide I'm just going to go with it.
28:04I'm going to put all three models in each headpiece.
28:07I just feel like it's the right thing to do.
28:10It's Asian-inspired.
28:12We kept her part and then pulled it back.
28:14Just go for this super samurai-inspired chignon.
28:17We could load this back and smooth and just...
28:19We'll make it beautiful in the Sally Beauty Studio.
28:22I definitely wanted to do, like, a pin wave.
28:24This wave is more loose and soft.
28:26Yes.
28:27So I would just pin curl this up.
28:28I'd use three-quarter iron just to really lock it in and set it so that all of your models
28:33are going to have this beautiful little finger wave.
28:35Exactly.
28:36Okay.
28:36That's what happens in the Sally Beauty Studio.
28:39I want to do Studio 54, a shimmer and, like, a nude lip.
28:43We'll make sure to have the silver right in the middle of the eye to catch attention.
28:48Oh, cool.
28:49She's glowing.
28:50I couldn't be happier.
28:51I am looking for the wow effect.
28:54That skin has a certain shimmer.
28:56Her eyes look bright and open.
28:59You're going to be like, wow, they look like beautiful girls.
29:01That's what I want.
29:02Yeah, designer Edmund.
29:07I'm going to grab some white thread.
29:08I'll be right back.
29:10Red coming up on me.
29:17This looks wonderful on you.
29:19Looking over at Candace's collection, I think it's amazing.
29:23Everything is well made.
29:25It's totally Candace.
29:26She's definitely going to put up a good fight.
29:29All right, designers and models, we are going down to the runway.
29:34At this point, if it's not me, I definitely think Kelly's got this competition in the bag.
29:39Thank you, everyone.
29:41The winner of Project Runway will receive $100,000 to launch their line.
29:45A celebrity cruises modern luxury vacation for two to almost anywhere in the world.
29:50A year's supply of Sally Beauty products and the opportunity to consult with Sally Beauty to create a limited edition
29:56finger paints nail color collection.
29:58Travel in hotel accommodations to inspiring destinations around the world from Best Western International.
30:04A 2015 Lexus RC 350, from Mary Kay an entire year's worth of beauty products for their fashion shows and
30:12professional makeup artist services for their debut show.
30:15A complete sewing and crafting studio from Brothers Sewing and Embroidery.
30:19And the winning designer and model will receive a fashion spread in Mary Claire magazine.
30:31Welcome back to New York and to the runway.
30:33All right, here's what's happening today.
30:35Each of you is showing us three looks from your collection.
30:39It is a little preview that will allow us to give you some feedback before your show on the world's
30:45fashion stage at New York Fashion Week.
30:47And you know how I love a little twist.
30:50So one of today's looks, you made yesterday.
30:54And how did it work out?
30:56For the best.
30:57Yeah.
30:58It usually does work out, doesn't it?
31:00Yeah.
31:00Because it's make it work time.
31:02Right, Tim Gunn?
31:03It is, Heidi.
31:04You make it work.
31:05All right, let's say hello to our judges.
31:07First, we have creative director of Brooks Brothers Women and fashion designer, Zach Posen.
31:12Welcome to New York Fashion Week, designers.
31:15Game on.
31:16Hey, thank you.
31:16Creative director for Mary Claire magazine, Nina Gaston.
31:19Hi, Sia.
31:19Hi, designers.
31:21Hi.
31:21Welcome to the big time.
31:23Hi.
31:25Also, we have Tim Gunn here for the runway show.
31:28As you know, he is your mentor and will not be judging your looks.
31:32All right, let's start the show.
31:40I have a really strong collection.
31:42There's an attitude to it.
31:44And I just hope that the judges get the attitude.
31:46Just enough to make them want a little bit more.
31:49And then wow him with everything else.
31:52I like the lining of the jacket.
31:57I love the dress that I created in a day.
32:00It's mysterious, but it's also inviting.
32:03And I'm quite proud of myself.
32:06Although I feel like it's a cohesive line, it's like a song.
32:10So not every verse is the same.
32:13And I don't really think there's one entire look that's the weakest.
32:17That piece came out nice.
32:18I hope the judges feel every single piece that walks down that runway.
32:34Presenting to the judges, I honestly feel amazing.
32:37Through this whole competition, I felt like I was myself.
32:39And what I'm showing to the judges is me times a thousand.
32:43It's an elevated version of me.
32:45And I hope they see what I'm going for.
32:49That shirt is sick.
32:50And it balances out with the headset.
33:04When I see my three looks down the runway, I couldn't be happier.
33:08It captures me.
33:09It's who I am.
33:10It puts a smile on your face.
33:11And I love it.
33:12I wouldn't change anything.
33:14I like the back of that shirt.
33:16It's like one of my favorites.
33:29I feel like I've shown sexy in the past challenges, but with this new look, I want to magnify some
33:34other things.
33:35Very elegant, then.
33:37I want to really incorporate a glamorous, elegant, high-fashion world of imagination.
33:46I'm pushing forward with a lot of elements that I've not shown.
33:50That's neighboring too, right?
33:51No.
33:52That's scuba.
33:54Scuba.
34:03When I watch my three looks, I feel really good about it.
34:07This look is one of my stronger looks.
34:09I feel confident.
34:10I feel that it's a cohesive collection.
34:13This is an elevated version of Edmund Newton.
34:30For my first look with the lace crop top and the pencil skirt, I didn't have enough time
34:35to make a bandeau bra.
34:37I just have a feeling that the judges are going to call me out for exposing the bra.
34:44All right.
34:47Watching my new look come down the runway, I literally want to cry, but I'm holding it
34:52together because I accomplished what I said I was going to do.
35:01What material is that skirt?
35:03It's like a quilted fabric.
35:04And it was white.
35:06I dyed it.
35:07I just have no idea how the judges are going to receive this collection.
35:12So, I'm just nervous.
35:20Tim is going to stay here with us while we talk to each and every one of you about your
35:25looks.
35:25Are you guys nervous?
35:27Oh, no.
35:28Yeah.
35:30But you got here.
35:31It's good, nervous.
35:32Yeah.
35:33All right, Edmund, let's bring out your models.
35:37Edmund, tell us about your looks and how they represent your collection.
35:40The three looks that I have, I really wanted to make sure that I included three elements,
35:46which were glamour, beauty, and sexiness.
35:49Which look did you make yesterday?
35:50The one closest to you.
35:52This is, yes.
35:52You can tell, I mean, they're so elaborate, the other two that couldn't have done that
35:56in a day.
35:57I'm a little bit worried about your inspiration point.
36:00If I had to pull a theme away from the three looks that I saw today, it would be ruffle.
36:06Trim and ruffle.
36:07I actually like the look that you made yesterday.
36:10I like the modernity of it.
36:12First look, I find it a little bit costumey.
36:15You got to give it some of your, like, your attitude.
36:18I mean, you're in combat boots, fatigue.
36:20You got to bring that kind of attitude into the looks.
36:23Will do.
36:25My personal favorite is the one in the middle.
36:28I love this silhouette.
36:29It is a wow piece.
36:31So many beautiful details.
36:33Will you also turn around?
36:34It just looks modern, but it's elegant.
36:36And it has that little black piece in the middle.
36:38To me, this is a showstopper.
36:40If everything is more along those lines, I think then you're spot on.
36:44I agree with Zach.
36:45The first one is a little costumey.
36:47It might be this ruffle thing.
36:49Like, you do try to do this ruffle a little bit everywhere.
36:51You don't have to feel like every piece needs to have some kind of a ruffle.
36:56This is surprising to me.
36:59Because the sense that I get from you as a designer is that you always like the sexiness.
37:07However, this isn't sexy.
37:09You're presenting a very pretty collection.
37:11It's very ladylike.
37:13We've got a Victorian-inspired dress here.
37:17Then we've got the bow, and it's very sweet.
37:19The hair and the makeup really throw me off.
37:22It's just too conservative.
37:24It's too classic.
37:25I need her to be a little more streamlined, a little more edgy, a little cooler.
37:29How is this girl modern?
37:30How is this girl Edmund?
37:32Why are you not being you?
37:35I wanted to show something a little different and incorporate the element of beauty.
37:39And I know the element of sexiness, and I didn't want it to be where, like...
37:44But that's you.
37:45Okay.
37:46Kelly, tell us about your looks and how they represent your collection.
37:50This was the look I made yesterday.
37:52And my collection is inspired by introducing Studio 54 to new wave streetwear.
37:58I consider myself an eclectic designer, mixing sort of things you normally wouldn't see together.
38:02But I wanted to keep it fun and just very me.
38:07I have a really hard time with this, Kelly.
38:10I was thinking, which one is the look that you made in a day?
38:13Because to me, they all look like you made them in a day, to be quite honest.
38:17You had a lot of time, and how much money did you have to spend?
38:21$9,000.
38:21$9,000?
38:22Did you spend it all?
38:24Mm-hmm.
38:24I feel like the fabric that you used, to me, does not look like you spent $9,000.
38:28To me, this looks like a young collection that you get really inexpensively at stores right now.
38:33The only thing how I see how you can fix this is by going fully over the top.
38:39What is this fanny pack that she has?
38:41I thought I would throw it out.
38:42I don't have anything against the fanny pack, but in this brown, it looks like grandma fanny pack.
38:48Give her the sparkle you're wearing.
38:50But also, not with, like, a black band.
38:52Like, do it in a crazy color.
38:54Like, really go for it, because otherwise, it's going to be a snooze fest.
39:00The good is that you have many pieces.
39:03You have the top, the shorts, the pants.
39:08I also think the hair and makeup is kind of great.
39:11They're not so good.
39:13There is really no sense of luxury in any of these pieces.
39:20The shorts, can you turn to the side, are ill-fitting.
39:25I don't really understand why they're high-waisted, and then they have this pocket.
39:29Also communicates that this is not really expensive.
39:34There's something very throwaway about these clothes.
39:36I can give more.
39:37I know I can do it, so I'm excited.
39:40Thank you, Kelly.
39:42Thank you, models.
39:42You can leave the runway.
39:51Ashley, tell us about your looks and how they represent your collection.
39:54I was inspired by Mexico City in the 1950s, and I really wanted to play with color, and all
40:01the lace has been hand-dyed.
40:03Because you're doing this new message and you want to bring this to the front line, the
40:08fit has to be impeccable.
40:10Okay.
40:11The crop top on that dress, it really doesn't fit well.
40:14I mean, I want these girls to feel seductive, supported, and hot.
40:20The zipper detail on that skirt looks like it's driving through the Rocky Mountain.
40:25It's bubbling, but also on the back of this lace top, it felt a little sloppy.
40:32Or if she is going to have her bra exposed, make it look like an intentional bra.
40:36Build the lace textures into there and have that texture come through.
40:40You know, and it's those fine details that are going to make this, like, a knockout hit,
40:44because I think the potential is here.
40:46When I see this collection and I see this very feminine silhouette, I think immediately
40:52of you.
40:53When I saw the flowers, I was like, that's Ashley.
40:56And your collection should be very reflective of you.
41:00What I am missing is the attention to details.
41:04The center girl, for example, her zipper seems to be a little wavy.
41:08The other thing that I'm missing is you're a colorist.
41:12You love prints.
41:13Yes.
41:14I'm kind of missing that, because right here it feels like one note.
41:19I know it's the lace, but it seems a little mother of the bride.
41:23You do prints very well.
41:25And you do color very well.
41:27And it should be represented somehow here.
41:30I love the hair and makeup.
41:32I don't know if all the girls are carrying the flower crowns, but maybe you should think
41:37about not all of them wearing it.
41:39Are they all carrying the crowns?
41:41I would like to, because each crown is very, very different.
41:45And they all pull a different color out, and it makes the whole outfit.
41:52I don't know.
41:53I disagree.
41:54I don't really think you need the crown in every single solitary look.
41:58Be careful of styling tricks, is what she's saying.
42:01Yes, exactly.
42:01They don't need to take a life of their own.
42:03Thank you, Ashley.
42:05Thank you, models.
42:05You can leave the runway.
42:08Candice, tell us about your looks and how they will present your collection.
42:12Well, for my collection this season, it's very Asian-inspired.
42:16For the first look, it's red.
42:17There's silk and leather.
42:19The next look I created yesterday, I did add the hat only to introduce the wood element.
42:26It looks like costume town.
42:28Don't want to be costume.
42:29It can go a little witchy-bitchy.
42:33This middle look with the hat, it's giving me, like, gothic ascot.
42:38I have a hard time with this as well, I have to say.
42:40It is all over the place.
42:42I feel like I'm looking at many different runway shows.
42:45Individually, I think you have some beautiful pieces.
42:48Because if you look at this coat, it is beautiful.
42:50If you look at this dress, it's beautiful.
42:52But why with the hat?
42:53Why with the gloves?
42:55You know, there's too many question marks.
42:57Then they all have these weird, long eyebrows.
43:00You're trying to be edgy.
43:02Really, you're putting all the cliches of what people who are not in fashion think a fashion show should look
43:07like.
43:07You piled it all in.
43:09I don't know where the story goes to at the end.
43:16You have a lot of work to do.
43:18Make it work.
43:22This is season 14, and we have seen people do this.
43:26In two days, you can do it.
43:28Blow our mind.
43:29This is your opportunity.
43:30This is New York Fashion Week.
43:32But I do want to be clear.
43:34There are two days left.
43:38And this is anyone's competition to win.
43:40So one quick note for each of you.
43:43Edmund, sex it up.
43:45Okay.
43:45Be Edmund.
43:49Kelly, just go for it.
43:52Amp it up.
43:53Okay.
43:54Ashley, focus on detail.
43:57And fit is so important for you.
44:00Yes.
44:02Candice, tone it down.
44:05Especially on your styling.
44:08Be you.
44:11We want you guys, your inspiration, your ideas.
44:15Give it to us.
44:17That's why you're here.
44:18You got it?
44:20Yep.
44:20Yes.
44:21All right, you have a lot of work to do.
44:23Good luck.
44:24Get off this runway.
44:25Go, go, go.
44:26See you at New York Fashion Week, guys.
44:28Bye.
44:28Bye.
44:29Bye.
44:31Bye.
