00:09I'm glad I'm still here.
00:11So you got the 10 guns saved.
00:13You got the save?
00:14I've never seen one up close in personal.
00:16I'm back.
00:17Not going anywhere.
00:18I mean, I'm just thankful, honestly, to get another shot.
00:21I cannot waste this opportunity.
00:24This is the last challenge.
00:26It's the last one before fashion week.
00:28We have a good shot.
00:30We have a good chance at this.
00:32If I lose this challenge, you know, it's the end of my dream.
00:44Ooh, sparkly.
00:47Hello, designers.
00:48Hello.
00:49And welcome back, Margarita, to the competition.
00:51Thank you so much.
00:52This challenge will determine who will go to New York Spring Summer Fashion
00:56Week.
00:56Oh my gosh.
00:57Oh my gosh.
00:58And you know what comes before spring.
01:01Mm-hmm.
01:05Winter.
01:09Down comes the snow.
01:11And it's snowing.
01:12And I'm thinking, what in the hell is going on?
01:14Mm.
01:14Oh my gosh.
01:15Catch one with your tongue.
01:16I don't know that I want to, Heidi.
01:18I love the snow.
01:21I'm thinking, are we going on vacation to, like, isolate us?
01:26Oh my gosh.
01:27Designers, your final challenge is to create a high fashion winter look that any fashionista
01:33would be thrilled to wear on a cold winter day.
01:36And we're not talking about a simple snow suit, okay?
01:39No.
01:40Snow way, snow how.
01:42Snow way, snow how.
01:42We want high fashion, as always.
01:44Use this challenge to really show us that you deserve to be at the finale of Project Runway.
01:49Because only four of you will move forward to New York Fashion Week.
01:53You will have two days for this challenge and a budget of $400.
01:58Yes.
01:59Whoa.
01:59We want you to be ambitious.
02:01Okay.
02:01Got it.
02:02Okay.
02:02Now, in order to get you into a winter mindset, you're going to experience an ice cold setting
02:10to sketch in.
02:12Oh my word.
02:13And I mean ice cold.
02:16Are we going to go to, like, a meat packing place?
02:19Are we going to be in a freezer with, like, meat?
02:21What is about to happen?
02:23Designers, you and I are heading off to the coldest place in Manhattan.
02:26Oh my gosh.
02:27Don't forget to bundle up, designers.
02:29And I see you back here on the runway.
02:31Follow me.
02:32Okay.
02:32This way.
02:37Oh my god.
02:38It is.
02:40That's right.
02:41Oh my god.
02:41We arrive at the minus five ice bar, and I'm just like, the Puerto Rican's going to freeze
02:47to death, everybody.
02:48Okay.
02:48Cool.
02:48Designers, I told you that we were going to the coldest place in Manhattan, and that's
02:53exactly where we are, the minus five ice bar.
02:56It's well below freezing, and the entire interior is created out of carved ice.
03:02So I don't want anyone to get frostbite.
03:04I want you to suit up.
03:08Oh my gosh.
03:10Okay, it's very cold.
03:12It's cold.
03:13Oh my gosh, my chair.
03:15How'd they know I was coming?
03:16It's literally ice.
03:18It's kind of cool, because everything in there is made of ice.
03:24My model is Sonita.
03:26I haven't had her yet.
03:27She's very slim, but she's kind of straight, so I want to create the coat to be kind of
03:32straight, and I know that I want a nice asymmetrical color blocking, so I want there to be a slash
03:37through it, and I want it to leave a very lasting impression on the judges.
03:41Just thinking of this winter coat and canvassy top with faux fur lining that looks luxe, and
03:48it looks high fashion.
03:49Hello, Misha.
03:50My model is Misha.
03:52She is my favorite model.
03:54My look is sort of like winter New York City safari.
03:58I kind of wanted to give a lot of detail and shape, so I was kind of thinking of Misha,
04:03what she would wear, because Misha knows how to make anything look beautiful.
04:08Beautiful lyrics.
04:09I'm going to make a power outfit for Lyris.
04:14She's super executive.
04:15She wants to look hot.
04:17You know, she likes color.
04:18Jasmine is my model.
04:20I'm super excited to work with her.
04:22My plan for this challenge is to make a really, really awesome coat.
04:27Full collar, full sleeve, front buttons, snaps, waist high.
04:32I mean, we're going all in for this jacket.
04:34And then a really nice blouse and pants to go along with it.
04:37All right, designers.
04:38If you're capable of movement, let's head off to move.
04:41Oh, my God.
04:42My schedule broke.
04:43Whew.
04:47All right, designers.
04:48You have the biggest budget you've had all season.
04:50You have $400, and you have 30 minutes to shop.
04:54All right.
04:54Your time starts right now.
04:57So for this challenge, I want to get some light beige.
05:02Anyone ready to cut my fabric?
05:04I think it's natural for me to gravitate towards natural color.
05:08Oh, I have a good taste.
05:11Designers, you have 15 minutes remaining.
05:15The bottom's black.
05:16The top, do you have anything in, like, neon?
05:18I always like to start with the most impactful part of my look, which is the coat.
05:21It's a winter look.
05:22I want the coat to be the highlight.
05:23This is pretty.
05:24I want to look in the wool departments to find a really nice print.
05:28Like this.
05:29It's so striking, isn't it?
05:31It's beautiful.
05:32Designers, you have five minutes remaining.
05:34Five minutes, everyone.
05:36Oh, I'm sorry.
05:37Sorry.
05:38How much are these?
05:39These are 45.
05:41I'm kind of wanting something like rabbit or deer.
05:44But it all starts with that badass fur.
05:47Can't wait.
05:48All right, designers, time is up.
05:50No more shopping.
05:51Please be here at the checkout counter.
05:54With the mean, how much?
05:55Did anyone purchase fur?
05:57We are a fur-free show.
06:01I pretty much blew a quarter of my budget on rabbit fur.
06:07If I would have known this, I would have totally bought something else.
06:10I would have gone with a whole different concept.
06:12It's fine.
06:13We'll make it work.
06:13I don't know.
06:14It's just...
06:17It's frustrating.
06:21Coming up on Project Runway.
06:22I think it looks rich.
06:24There's so much going on.
06:25I know.
06:26This looks like a kindergarten project.
06:29This is heaven.
06:31It's very beautiful.
06:32I think this is the chicest snow woman I have ever seen.
06:35It's very pleasing to the eye.
06:37It's a bit costumey, childish.
06:40It doesn't all fit together.
06:46All right, designers, before we head back to the workroom,
06:48I feel very culpable about one particular thing.
06:52The fact that I did not declare that we are a fur-free show.
06:55And Margarita didn't know.
06:58I would like to give Margarita five minutes to replace that resource.
07:05And designers, would any of you object?
07:09Things happen.
07:10And I feel like five extra minutes, you know, she deserves them.
07:13Why don't you do it right now?
07:15That's fine.
07:15Go, go, go.
07:16Thanks, guys.
07:17Go, go, go, go, go, go, go.
07:18All right.
07:19Thank you, Wolf.
07:21I grab this faux fur that I guess I'm going to have to use instead.
07:24You know, at this point, I'm just like, this is not a good start to the challenge.
07:28Thank you again.
07:29Thank you, everybody.
07:30All right, everyone.
07:31Let's head back to the workroom.
07:32Thank you, Moon.
07:33Thank you, Moon.
07:34Bye.
07:40The games begin.
07:42Our final challenge before Fashion Week is to create a high fashion winter look that a fashionista
07:48will want to wear on any winter day.
07:50Do I hate it?
07:51Do I love it?
07:52Nobody knows.
07:53I love this so much.
07:54Yeah.
07:56So, you have two days for this challenge.
07:59You need to be ambitious, all right?
08:01You have until 10.30 tonight, and we're going to have critiques on the earlier side tomorrow.
08:07And later tomorrow, you will have model fittings.
08:10Okay.
08:11Okay.
08:11All right, everyone.
08:12I'll see you tomorrow.
08:13All right.
08:13Work hard.
08:15Bye.
08:17My game plan is to start out with the coat.
08:19I really want to wow on the runway, and I want to take a little risk with this one.
08:23I did get paint because I was thinking I will add paint afterwards.
08:26Okay, let's see.
08:27There are a lot of elements working together, and I just hope that I don't hurt myself by
08:32using too many elements.
08:33Oh, beautiful.
08:35Super luxe.
08:36This is the very last challenge before New York Fashion Week.
08:39I just need to, like, calm down and get out of my own way in this challenge and just really
08:44do something really awesome.
08:45This jacket is going to be so heavy.
08:48It's going to be dope, though.
08:49The coolest piece probably I've ever tried to make, a wax cotton used as the outer shell.
08:53I thought this was kind of the perfect way to kind of incorporate a de-stressed look in
08:58any kind of fold or crumple it gets.
09:00It leaves a line.
09:01I just have this vision right away, and to see it come to life is beautiful.
09:05You know, I'm worried because the concept that I came up with versus what I'm making
09:10now is kind of like a reversion of it.
09:13All right, guys and girls, that's time.
09:15Honestly, I do not give up.
09:18No matter how hard it gets, like, you know.
09:22I don't quit, and this is no exception.
09:34Okay, let's do it.
09:35Last day.
09:42Hi, Tim.
09:43Hi.
09:43How is everyone?
09:45Okay, good.
09:46Okay.
09:46Such enthusiasm.
09:48Yes.
09:49Well, I'm here to check in with you, and I'm eager to see what you're doing.
09:52Okay?
09:53Hi, Kentaro.
09:54Hi, Tim.
09:54Tell me what you're doing.
09:56This is a wrap jacket, so there's a tie inside here, and I'm thinking to have inside
10:01a lavender turtleneck, but I put this yellow.
10:04I try to force myself to use color, but at this point, I think it's more important, like,
10:09I showcase, like, who I am as a designer.
10:12I mean, I'm just thinking about having you execute the turtleneck in this.
10:18Mm-hmm.
10:19Yeah, this is actually.
10:20Then you really own the whole thing.
10:22Yeah.
10:22This is owning a neutral palette.
10:24I'm afraid they wanna say, like, Kentaro, no color.
10:27I think it looks rich.
10:29I think so, too.
10:30All right, Kentaro.
10:31Okay.
10:32Carry on.
10:32Okay, thank you so much.
10:34Well, Kenya, you've done a lot.
10:35Well, I was thinking about what would I wear.
10:39Good.
10:39Project yourself into it.
10:41And I saw this print, and it just jumped out at me.
10:44So is it a coat dress?
10:46No, it's gonna be a coat.
10:47I'm making her a top and a pair of pants, too.
10:50Out of what?
10:51I was gonna do a top out of this.
10:55I was thinking to give it, like, some, some, just some space under it.
10:58So, like, she's able to, like, move freely.
11:01I think she's gonna look right now.
11:03But at this juncture, it's all in the details.
11:07The judges are going to be asking each other,
11:09what are we going to get from a collection from Kenya?
11:13It's so much on the table, but then you try not to overthink it.
11:17It's, it's difficult.
11:19I just need to calm down and produce something great that I know that I can.
11:24Hi, Tim.
11:25Hi, Brandon.
11:26I'm eager to hear what you're doing.
11:28So I'm very excited about this challenge.
11:30Growing up in Utah, we had very frigid winters.
11:32So I really wanted to put a lot of detail and think about a coat that, you know, I would
11:38dream to have.
11:39And so I really like working with materials that can be manipulated.
11:43I'm just trying to decide if I want to do anything with the collar or if I want to, like,
11:47possibly, you know, bring, like, a hood onto it or leave it simple.
11:56So I was expecting to have to tell you to push it more, go further.
12:02You have.
12:05You really have.
12:05You've exceeded my expectations, which are the very highest.
12:10Ayana, hi, what are you up to?
12:12Hi, Tim.
12:13Talk to me.
12:14I wanted something very bright, but at the same time I brought paint to kind of paint down that bright
12:20color.
12:20Oh.
12:21It's an asymmetrical pea coat.
12:23The line was intended to be harsh, but I wanted something kind of on top of it to kind of
12:27blend the two together.
12:29I was thinking maybe splatters.
12:31You mean painted?
12:32Yeah.
12:32I mean, this has a clean 60s vibe right now.
12:35Okay.
12:36Are you trying to get rid of that vibe?
12:38I wanted to feel a little bit more modern, so there's also one other thing that happens.
12:44What else happens?
12:56But you look scared.
12:58There's so much going on.
12:59I know.
13:00I feel like I'm maybe trying a little too hard.
13:03I was like, you know, last challenge before Fashion Week.
13:06It has to be big.
13:07It has to be amazing.
13:08And I don't know.
13:09I feel like the pressure is starting to get to me.
13:11And I know that it's showing in my work.
13:16Coming up on Project Runway.
13:20That doesn't give me confidence.
13:22You have to think fast.
13:24It's Tippi Hedren and the birds.
13:25You have to make it happen.
13:26It looks like a throwaway.
13:32This experiment looks like a kindergarten project.
13:38Do you have some of the pink down there?
13:40Oh, yeah.
13:41Yeah, I have more.
13:42I wish you would do an experiment.
13:44I'd just like to see it.
13:45Okay.
13:46It's going to be cray-cray.
13:50Kind of Jackson Pollock-y.
13:52I really have only a positive response.
13:55That's a nice effect.
13:57Beautifully handled.
14:00Yes.
14:00Thank you, too.
14:02So how is Margarita?
14:05Um, I'm okay.
14:07That doesn't give me confidence.
14:09I came up with a long-sleeve Hesler skirt dress.
14:15Oh, I see.
14:16And this is my foe.
14:17This is going to go on the sleeves of this dress right here.
14:21Just from the elbow down.
14:23Let me ask you this.
14:24How do you feel about this dress?
14:26It's not chic.
14:27It's Tippi Hedren and the birds.
14:29Yeah.
14:30I mean, to me, at this juncture, it looks like a throwaway.
14:34How much more of this do you have?
14:35I have about half a yard.
14:37It's not awful.
14:38I mean, the more I look at it, it's not terrible.
14:40It's not awful.
14:41I find it to be quite seductive, frankly.
14:44And it's a matter of you love it or you hate it.
14:47But no one's going to be neutral.
14:48Yeah.
14:48And I think that's where you need to be on this challenge.
14:50I mean, if she's like this, you know, and maybe it's like sleeveless or something.
14:55You know what?
14:56You kind of love it?
14:56You have me totally seduced.
14:58A full dress of fur?
15:00Like, is that crazy?
15:01Is that crazy?
15:02I mean, I kind of like it, but I'm freaking out now because everybody's like halfway done,
15:07if not almost done with their coat, and I don't even have a coat or a dress.
15:12All right, designers.
15:13I feel extremely good about where each of you happens to be at this juncture.
15:20Just continue your trajectory and don't overthink.
15:25All right?
15:25Okay.
15:26Work hard.
15:27Work hard.
15:27I love you guys.
15:28See you later.
15:34All right, I'm going in for the kill.
15:42The tricky thing about Project Runway is that there is no time.
15:46You have to think fast and you have to make it happen.
15:48So, I agree with Tim.
15:49It's really important not to overthink.
15:57We might be cooking with some Crisco over here.
16:00Jasmine is my model, and I'm super excited to work with her.
16:04Do you like this?
16:05Yeah, I love it.
16:06I love it.
16:06She is another one of the plus size models that everyone's afraid of, but I am ready to
16:12attack it, make her look fabulous, and let everybody know, plus girls rule.
16:18But like I said, my expression is Misha.
16:20Yay!
16:21This looks hella huge.
16:23I think the look is going to be different.
16:26The fur will help.
16:27As far as the cut of the dress, you don't want to make me look bigger than I need to
16:32look.
16:33If I had like a hand warmer thing in here, would that be weird?
16:37I've never been more hungry or eager, and I feel like now it's down to the last challenge.
16:42I'm coming off a win, like I want this back.
16:44The top I love.
16:46I feel like that part fits really good.
16:51This is like the worst thing I've ever made.
16:55I don't even know if I'm going to show up at this point.
16:57What do you mean?
16:58I don't have anything finished.
17:02I still don't know what Margarita is creating, and she looks a little frantic.
17:08Oh my God.
17:10And you know, being an island girl, not really knowing what winter is.
17:13What are we going to make in a winter goat?
17:16She might be going home.
17:17Alright guys, it's our last night.
17:22Say goodbye.
17:23Bye.
17:23Bye.
17:26Oh man.
17:31Coming up on Project Runway.
17:34Designers and models, it's our final runway show before New York Fashion Week.
17:38It's like down to the wire, like who's going to go to Fashion Week.
17:41Come on, come on, come on.
17:42Take me to Fashion Week, please.
17:52Let's do it, guys.
17:53Let's do it, do it, do it.
17:54Let's do this, let's do this.
17:56Let's do this.
17:57Let's do this.
17:57Bum, bum, bum, bum.
17:58I'm a nervous wreck over here.
18:00Five of us here, four of us get to go to Fashion Week.
18:04It couldn't get any tighter as far as competition goes.
18:07I want to go to Fashion Week.
18:08I need to be at Fashion Week.
18:10I want to go to Fashion Week.
18:11Take me to Fashion Week, please.
18:15Good morning.
18:16Good morning.
18:17Hi.
18:18Where is everyone?
18:18Is anyone in the Brothers Sewing and Embroidery Studio?
18:21Oh, come on in.
18:22Hi.
18:22You're all in black.
18:23Good heavens.
18:24Alright, everyone, it's our last runway.
18:27Nervous.
18:28Yeah, well, of course, I'm nervous for you, too.
18:30But it's going to be smashing and sensational.
18:32The usual drill.
18:33You have an hour to send your models to the Avon Beauty Lab
18:36into our hair studio.
18:37When the models return from hair and makeup,
18:39you'll have 15 minutes with them to prep them
18:41for the runway, alright?
18:42Okay.
18:43Use the JCPenney accessory wall
18:45only through the lens of what you've designed.
18:47And remember, thankfully, Rowenta has supplied you
18:50with irons and steamers.
18:52Alright.
18:52Work, work, work.
18:53Take care.
18:53Bye.
18:54Bye.
18:54Bye.
19:00Woo!
19:02Woo!
19:02Woo!
19:03How are you, mom?
19:05Come on.
19:05Come on, sugar.
19:06Come on, come on, come on.
19:07Do you feel comfy in it?
19:08Is it itchy at all?
19:10It's fine.
19:11Lyris can totally carry this ensemble.
19:14I don't see your face.
19:15A good reaction.
19:17But it doesn't look right.
19:19You got to picture it with the belt.
19:21It's got a really good belt.
19:22It's just being a little messy.
19:23Again, I'm going to go through this whole process
19:25where I get so far and then I just die right at the end.
19:29I'm freaking out.
19:33I think you do have little pockets right here.
19:36I manage my time really well.
19:37I'm much happier with it.
19:39And the waist hits you at a better spot.
19:40All I have to do is edit, edit, edit.
19:42The skirt is finished.
19:44It's a belt.
19:45Other designers have more colors, more patterns.
19:48But like, you know, I kind of, at the end, wanted to make it look like my style.
20:01How are you?
20:03Lots of highlight.
20:04And maybe even just a slight contour.
20:07We got the new stick contour that we can use.
20:10A little bit of highlights.
20:12Yeah.
20:14I want her to look frosty.
20:15A nice, smoky cat eye.
20:17With her, it's so easy.
20:19And just a gloss on the lip.
20:21I love it.
20:22I would like to just kind of do a clean face.
20:25It's this soft foundation.
20:27This is a cream blush.
20:30Perfect.
20:34Hola, team.
20:35Hi, designers.
20:37In 10 minutes, you and your models and I are going down to the runway, all right?
20:42All I can hear is tic-tac, tic-tac.
20:44It's like down to the wire, like who's going to go to Fashion Week.
20:49And then start your zipper.
20:51All the way around.
20:53Diva.
20:54Oh my God.
20:55What'd I do with my needle that fast?
20:59Designers and models, it's our final runway show before New York Fashion Week.
21:03Woo!
21:04Woo!
21:04Yes.
21:05Come with me, please.
21:06My hands-on skills is flying.
21:08Hold it.
21:09Hold it.
21:09Hold it.
21:09Hold it.
21:10Tanya?
21:11Almost.
21:12I cannot go out like this.
21:14So close to Fashion Week.
21:17Woo!
21:19You and Jasmine ready?
21:21Yes.
21:22All right.
21:23Hit it.
21:24Thank you, Jesus.
21:26I have struggled with everything that you could possibly name.
21:31But if I get to go to Fashion Week, it has been worth it.
21:33I have to show everyone what I'm capable of.
21:36I need this.
21:38I think she looks adorable.
21:42Ooh.
21:45Ooh, I love this.
21:47Hello.
21:48Hello.
21:48Hi.
21:49Welcome to our winter wonderland.
21:52I know.
21:52It's cute.
21:53Beautiful.
21:53As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day you're out.
21:57This is the big day.
22:00Today's runway will determine who will move forward to New York Fashion Week.
22:04For this challenge, Tim and I asked you to create a high-end winter wonderland look.
22:09All right, let's say hello to our judges.
22:12First, we have creative director of Brooks Brothers Women and fashion designer, Zach Posen.
22:16Hi, Zach.
22:16Hi, designers.
22:17Creative director for Marie Claire Magazine, Nina Garcia.
22:20Hello.
22:21And our guest judge for today, actress Katie Holm.
22:23Welcome.
22:26We also have Tim Gunn here for the runway show.
22:28We love you, Tim.
22:29Love you back.
22:30And as you know, he's your mentor and he will not be judging your looks.
22:34We also have an anonymous runway show, so we the judges do not know which designer created
22:38which look.
22:39But we've been with you guys long enough that I think we can figure it out by now.
22:43Let's start the show.
22:46Let's start the show.
22:48Let's start the show.
22:50Ah!
22:52I love it.
22:58She looks so pretty.
23:04Christina is looking amazing.
23:06It's so flowy and there's so many layers.
23:09She's ready to go hang out in Park City or Aspen.
23:12It's my dream girl.
23:14It's everything and more that I envision.
23:15Let's start the show.
23:36Lyris looks so elegant.
23:42It's been a really emotional ride for me here and I never gave up.
23:46Lyris rocked it and I think it came through and I'm so happy that it did.
24:03My look turns out just how I wanted it to.
24:06It is really nice, sleek, high fashion and it is fully modest.
24:16It's unexpected.
24:17So I just hope that the judges feel that they have no choice but to send me to Fashion Week.
24:37I'm feeling accomplished.
24:38I really love my coat.
24:40It looks like a classic lady.
24:42The simplicity of the top fit well with the trousers.
24:45The trousers came out great.
24:47I really, really like my look.
25:07It looked really good because everything was so organic.
25:13Michelle looks great on the runway, but I think everything worked.
25:23I have to say that was an amazing runway show today.
25:30Today we're going to talk to all of you and then we will decide who will move forward to New
25:35York Fashion Week.
25:51Let's bring out your models.
26:00Brandon, tell us about your look.
26:02Coming from Utah, I kind of like hung out in Park City a lot and so I took me back
26:06there.
26:06I put a lot of work in the details.
26:08This wax, cotton was really hard to work with but I had a vision right away and it came out
26:12almost exactly how I'd like it to and I'm happy.
26:16It's nice to see a winter version of what you do.
26:19It's not easy to play with so much layering and dimension.
26:23It feels luxe, it feels kind of street.
26:27You know, there's a lot of references in there and they all sit together really effortlessly.
26:33It's just very exciting to watch you.
26:35It's a beautiful modern take on something very traditional.
26:38It's sexy, it's young, unique and I love the colors.
26:42I love that you chopped a little hole in her beanie and her hat and made her hair come out.
26:47Those little touches are really cool.
26:49I loved it head not necessarily to toe because today was snowing and the toes were getting a little cold
26:57on the runway.
26:58But you seem to enjoy this challenge.
27:00Thank you, Brandon.
27:02Margarita, tell us about your look.
27:04I wanted to do a coat that feels like fur but it's wool and then the element of surprise by
27:11having the fur dress underneath.
27:14It really works.
27:16It actually looks really good on her.
27:18It singes her nicely at the waist and the coat is beautiful.
27:22There's a timeless chicness to a wrap coat.
27:27This one looked perfect on your model.
27:30But most of all, when she opened the coat and all of a sudden, the surprise effect was everything.
27:36And that made me think of you in another light.
27:40Thank you very much.
27:41That's a lot.
27:43Thank you, Margarita.
27:45Ayana.
27:45When we were at the ice bar, all the fur made me think rebel and then I started to think
27:50outlaw.
27:51And so I wanted to create something that had a very, like, outlaw feel but at the same time she's
27:56on the go.
27:57I like the fact that you played with color and you gave it like this painterly fluorescent coat.
28:04Everybody has a black coat but I don't think many people have this coat.
28:08Awesome.
28:09The coat, I agree with Nina because I do have a black one and I have a camel one so
28:13I would want to have that coat.
28:14Can we have a look at the piece underneath?
28:18This, on the other hand, I would not want to have.
28:20It's a bit costumey.
28:22It's a little childish.
28:24I don't think it does amazing things for the body.
28:27I like the fact that you get a two-in-one coat.
28:30I like the proportions.
28:31It's very pleasing to the eye.
28:34Kenya, tell us about your look.
28:36Well, Toni called and said she had some deals to close and she was having cocktails afterward, maybe a little
28:41networking.
28:42So I created her a nice little coat and a coordinating top and a nice pair of pants to, you
28:48know, pull this together.
28:50It's obviously, you know, fun textile.
28:52Her coat has some attitude.
28:55To me, I'm not as sure about with the styling of it.
28:58I think you could have brought it more high fashion.
29:00You know, I think the tailoring and the fit on her is pretty excellent.
29:04I mean, her legs look great.
29:06The only issue with the look is that the blouse to the tweed to the pants doesn't all sit together.
29:13Legs for days.
29:14Legs for days, but her torso is like super tiny.
29:17This girl feels very downtown, very cool.
29:22She's way too cool for the outfit underneath.
29:25Okay.
29:26And underneath is so sophisticated and uptown, it could have done with something a little more classic.
29:33Got it.
29:35Kentaro, tell us about your look.
29:37My inspiration was very simple.
29:39I just wanted to make something nice for Misha.
29:42I wanted to make her happy.
29:44We became such good friends here.
29:45So the inspiration was your model?
29:48Yep.
29:48Kentaro, I think you did a wonderful job.
29:51It looks very modern, very sculptural.
29:55The back is extraordinary.
29:58Is it a short?
30:00It's a short?
30:01Yeah, short.
30:01Lovely.
30:02I like the way you styled her.
30:05I like the leggings that you used as boots.
30:07I'm trying to understand how you get into this jacket.
30:11So there's a tie here.
30:14I love the simplicity of this look.
30:17It's very beautiful.
30:18Congratulations.
30:20This is heaven from head to toe, especially I'm in love with the shorts.
30:26I think this is the chicest snow woman I have ever seen.
30:29There's a real couture quality to it.
30:32When you talk about your minimalism, this is an interesting take on it.
30:38I love how every single piece you can appreciate on its own and it works and it's so beautifully cut.
30:45You're telling a story and I really like this story.
30:50Sophisticated and youthful.
30:52Hard combination to achieve.
30:55Thank you so much.
30:56Kentaro, tell us why you should go to Fashion Week and which two designers should go with you.
31:00I like western, beautiful, classy line but still my cultural influences and I want to mix everything together but my
31:11way.
31:11Who would you take with you?
31:12My brother Brandon, probably he's very talented and when Ayana makes dresses, makes me smile.
31:21It's completely outside of my brain.
31:24Brandon.
31:25I have really enjoyed this experience.
31:27It's pushed me to make women's clothes but kind of stick to my identity.
31:31A lot of the looks I feel could be a collection and just kind of develop it so.
31:34My brother of course, Kentaro, and I have to agree with him.
31:38Ayana has kind of a surprise factor about her work.
31:42I would enjoy to see a collection from her.
31:46Kenya, why should you move forward to New York Fashion Week and which two designers would you choose?
31:49It has been years of struggle and sacrifice and not knowing how things are going to work.
31:59And I think that sending, I'm sorry, sending my collection down the runway to New York Fashion Week,
32:07it would make sense all the days that you sacrifice.
32:11Am I going to pay rent or am I going to buy fabric?
32:14And so, it was.
32:19It would just mean everything to be able to do that.
32:28And which two designers would you choose?
32:31Brandon and Ayana.
32:32I think Brandon has a very interesting perspective on women's fashion.
32:36And I think Ayana always has like a thousand things in her brain and when she can narrow it down,
32:40I would really like to see her be able to, you know, have a voice.
32:45Margarita, why should you go to New York Fashion Week?
32:47I think I could really tell a story through a collection.
32:51I have grown so much.
32:53And I think Brandon deserves to go to Fashion Week.
32:57I think he's an incredible designer.
32:59It's so different from what I do.
33:01And we like do the opposite.
33:02I do very feminine things because it's something I dreamed about.
33:05Technically, I think Kentaro is very good.
33:08I would love to see what he can do with more time.
33:13Ayana, why do you deserve to go to New York Fashion Week?
33:16Being here has pushed me farther than I ever thought I could go.
33:20I am just so ready to take it even farther.
33:23And Kenya is a designer that already knows who her customer is.
33:27Also, Brandon is a designer that pushes me as well.
33:31I feel like I just never know what Brandon and Kenya are going to do.
33:35They just keep me on my toes more than ever.
33:37Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
33:39We're going to take a closer look at your designs.
33:41We have some big decisions to make today.
33:45And then I call you back onto the runway.
33:46Now you can leave the runway.
33:53The winner of Project Runway will receive the opportunity to collaborate with JCPenney
33:57on a limited edition capsule collection as part of the Project Runway line sold at select JCPenney stores and online.

34:32And the winning designer and model will receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine.
34:36Hi, Tim.
34:37Hi.
34:38Hello there, ladies.
34:40So shall we begin with Christina wearing Brandon?
34:44Incredible.
34:45It's canvas.
34:46Oh, it's heavy.
34:47It's really heavy.
34:48Smart, though.
34:49There's always a street vibe to his clothes.
34:54And Misha is wearing contoro.
34:56Oh, yes.
34:57This, I'm in love with.
34:58It's really, really beautiful.
35:00Really cool.
35:01It could be very bulky and it's not.
35:04And that's kind of amazing.
35:05It's incredible.
35:08And Sunita is wearing Ayana.
35:11She made the fabric, graphic.
35:13I like the coat.
35:15I have just a really hard time with what's underneath it.
35:17It needed to look a little more luxe.
35:21And Lyrus is wearing Margarita.
35:23Beautiful.
35:24The coat is a classic.
35:27And it worked really well on her silhouette.
35:29This is very pretty.
35:31The back is a problem.
35:32Well, she knew it and never intended for Lyrus to remove the coat.
35:39And Jasmina's wearing Kenya.
35:41I mean, that's...
35:42Well, I like this fabric a lot.
35:43I like this fabric, too, and I really like this coat.
35:45I want it with jean shorts and a t-shirt.
35:50So, we've made our decision.
35:55Let's bring them back out.
35:58Designers, this runway is especially hard for us today.
36:02Because we must decide who goes to New York Fashion Week and who doesn't.
36:10Can'taro.
36:12Congratulations.
36:13You are moving forward to New York Fashion Week.
36:17How do you feel?
36:19Excited.
36:20Oh, my gosh.
36:21Please make sure that you create a collection that really works on a big runway.
36:26Yes.
36:27Because subtlety can get lost.
36:29You can leave the runway.
36:31I'm going to New York Fashion Week and I feel really good about it.
36:37Brandon, congratulations.
36:38You're also moving forward to New York Fashion Week.
36:41So, you also will be creating a 10-piece collection.
36:44That's awesome.
36:45How do you feel?
36:46I'm excited.
36:47I'm very thankful for this opportunity, too.
36:50Brandon, opportunity of a lifetime.
36:52Put together something that's gonna knock New York off its feet.
36:56Okay.
36:57You can leave the runway.
36:59Good luck.
37:00I'm going to New York Fashion Week and that's what the ultimate goal was.
37:04Just amazing.
37:05I hope that I can push the boundaries of what I've done and make something just that'll blow
37:09them out of the water.
37:13Ayana, congratulations.
37:14You are moving forward to New York Fashion Week.
37:17Yes.
37:20Yes.
37:21I've already got some designs in my head, so I'm very ready.
37:26You can leave the runway.
37:27Good luck.
37:29Good luck.
37:29Good luck.
37:30Good luck.
37:30I am moving forward to Fashion Week.
37:32I can't even believe that I can say that right now.
37:37Margarita in Kenya, you really made it hard for us.
37:49Margarita.
37:53Congratulations.
37:54You're moving forward to New York Fashion Week.
37:55And we'll create a collection.
