02:49P.C.U. Pancreatic cancer is one of those really debilitating ones because by the time the patients come to us, they're already, you know, really advanced.
02:58And it can be very stressful mentally, emotionally, physically on patients.
03:04And we really, really need to push for pancreatic cancer research. We really need to push for a cure.
03:10We really need to push for... There's not really much screening that you can do other than probably just checking your blood sugars ever so often.
03:17We don't have a whole lot going on for pancreatic cancer and we really need to implore the general public and the government of the day to really get on board with pancreatic cancer research and treatment.
03:28Welcome to Beyond the Tape. I'm your host, Marcus, and welcome to our viewers across Trinidad.
03:57Trinidad and Tobago and, of course, our international viewers and our brothers and sisters in the Isles of Grenada.
04:04It's certainly a very wet Thursday, of course, with the inclement weather continuing, flooding in parts around Trinidad and Tobago, of course.
04:12This area, I believe, Penal Rock Road. And, you know, that area as well is prone to flooding every time there is heavy rainfall in south Trinidad.
04:23So, of course, we ask that we know that the rainfall is going to continue into tomorrow, we understand, as well as Friday.
04:29And even on the weekend, they will have scattered showers.
04:32So, I know that the runoff for quite a while will take some time.
04:37These are other areas in Penal, Ciberlack, Trace, and so on, where motorists would have encountered difficulties in actually going through those roadways.
04:46So, we need you to approach some of these areas with caution over the next 24 to 48 hours as the rain continues to fall across Trinidad and Tobago.
04:56And, of course, today with me is none other than O.E. Russell, ASP of the Western Division. Welcome, sir.
05:03Welcome. I'm on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, 1st and 2nd Division Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
05:12Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago. And, as usual, it's a pleasure to be here.
05:15Well, I know that you and I both have challenges getting to the studio here.
05:19I spent the better part of an hour heading in an easterly direction, which would usually take me less than 15 minutes.
05:28It took me about an hour and 10 minutes.
05:31Well, let me tell you this. What I encountered was traffic as if we were coming to work for 8 a.m.
05:38And, with that being said, I know we had heavy rainfall this earlier today and throughout the day.
05:44And, I want to encourage, and this is just a clarion call to the motorists on the roadway.
05:49There is a lot of traffic. We are asking for your patience.
05:52We are asking that you follow whatever instructions that are passed down to you from police officers.
05:59We are asking that you take your time on the road.
06:02We know today would have caused a lot of delay.
06:05We want to discourage persons from driving through floodwaters.
06:09Just about a few inches of water could make your vehicle buoyant.
06:16You don't know the depth.
06:18Please exercise caution.
06:22I would advise that you probably take some time and relax wherever you are
06:28and avoid going through the floodwaters so that you maintain your safety.
06:33Yes, certainly. That is very good advice there.
06:36We just have a couple more days left before the official rainy season concludes.
06:44But, nevertheless, you still have to heed those warnings, of course,
06:48in areas where you know you have landslips and landslides and so on.
06:51Which brings us to this unfortunate accident that we told you about yesterday along the Maracas Road,
07:01heading into Maracas Bay.
07:04Apparently, a 73-year-old driver was driving his Nissan Caravan.
07:09And a tree fell and he veered off the road and went off the road there.
07:16There was a lone passenger in his vehicle, a 32-year-old woman.
07:19Her name was Natalia Noel of San Juan.
07:22She died following that road traffic accident.
07:25It happened just before 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon.
07:29And, you know, they were both rushed to the Portis Payne General Hospital.
07:35That's Ms. Noel there.
07:38Apparently, she succumbed to injuries when she got to the hospital.
07:43Really sad way, you know, a situation in terms of the accident that she was pronounced there
07:49about two hours later at the Portis Payne General Hospital.
07:53And we know it's unpredictable times like this, you know,
07:56when you're driving through an area forested and so on.
07:59And the earth is loose.
08:02Yeah, but it's saturated at this point.
08:05Yeah.
08:05Given the amount of rainfall.
08:07I know the issue on Tobago Police Service would like to extend condolences to the family of Ms. Noel.
08:12You know, it's really a tragic and an unfortunate incident.
08:15We pray that God give you the grace and that you seek comfort in him
08:19so that you can endure and carry on through this period.
08:23Yeah.
08:24We also had an accident along the priority bus route as well.
08:30No, we didn't.
08:31Okay.
08:31My apologies.
08:32Oh, it's a robbery.
08:34Oh, yes.
08:34So, that robbery.
08:36I'm sure you have seen it, ASB, and I have seen it.
08:39And thousands of persons have seen that robbery along the priority bus route.
08:44We have a lady handing her money and then at least three armed occupants enter that maxi taxi.
08:53And can you imagine the, at four actually, imagine the terror.
08:58One is armed with a knife here.
09:00He grabs the lady bag in the front.
09:01This lady here, if you heard the cries of this lady, I have my ID card in that, in this bag.
09:08The second lady there, he left behind the driver.
09:11While they begin to empty out the valuables of others in the maxi taxi, their hands held high.
09:17ASB, Russell, a very traumatic experience.
09:20So, all these passengers.
09:21And, you know, certainly, I understand one of the suspects, that one in the red, sorry, the blue hoodie is already in police custody.
09:31So, hats off to police for at least holding one of the four persons.
09:35And this is very traumatizing.
09:38And, you know, one armed with a gun, took all the valuables, all the passengers had their hands in the air.
09:46And this is the driver now making a U-turn.
09:48And he drove to a Ruka police station where they would have reported this matter.
09:53Really traumatic experience.
09:55And a lot of people who have to commute along the priority bus would take maxi-taxis to and from Puerto Spain, from San Fernando to Puerto Spain, vice versa, from Digger Martin to Puerto Spain, vice versa.
10:06Definitely.
10:06And other routes.
10:07And a lot of people traveling ASB.
10:10And this is really, really, really a traumatic experience for many.
10:14Yes, and it really is a traumatic experience.
10:18And I hope that persons know that Detroit and Tobago police service stand by and we are ready to assist by means of counseling and any social or psychological help that you think you may need.
10:30Going further, we want to, secondly, we want to thank the public for their information and their cooperation because I believe, I think, it's two persons that are in custody now.
10:39Right.
10:39You know, and looking at it, you know, it sends chills.
10:45Through me, I know it depicts the country in a particular light.
10:52But we know Trinidad and Tobago is indeed a better place than what we are seeing there.
10:58And we thank the persons who would have given the information.
11:01We thank the police officers who would have risked their lives to apprehend some of the suspects.
11:06But what I want to say is that we go even further, Mark.
11:10Mark, it doesn't end there.
11:11We need statements.
11:13We need identification parade.
11:16We need to have these things done so that we can have a successful prosecution so that these persons can really stand the proper consequences for their actions.
11:26There are many times we would have apprehended persons for robbing maxi-taxis.
11:31And then when they reach to the police station, they would say to us, boss, I just want back my money.
11:39I'm not going to court.
11:40And we know there are certain issues, but now we know we encourage persons, now, you know, the way the court system operates, you can give your evidence online.
11:49You don't even have to be in the same location.
11:51You can be cross-examined online.
11:53So we are doing things to ensure the witnesses' safety so that they cooperate and we increase the detection rate even more and that the detection rate, the increase in the detection rate will give a positive influence to an increase in the prosecution rate.
12:10And if we play the second video there, ASP, when the maxi-taxis stopped, it seems that these gentlemen were poison waiting because you're seeing them walking across that bridge all with their hoodies pull over their head.
12:22Definitely, yeah.
12:22So we know there was some coordination had to have gone on.
12:27You see them walking here, one, two, three, and there was a fourth assailant probably already standing on the pavement near the bus route there.
12:36But one of the things I also saw in the previous video on ASP, you can talk to the civilians about this, is trying to resist these men who are armed.
12:47Give them it.
12:47Let them go.
12:48Don't put your life at risk.
12:50And the area there first is familiar to me, and it's a usual stop for a lot of commuters on the east-west corridor that reside in that Borneo area.
13:00So, you know, it's just Cohen and Felsen, crime by opportunity.
13:04The next maxi stop, we're robbing it.
13:06And these are the commutations of these guys.
13:08But Trinidad and Tobago, in situations like these, we wanted to really have a life to live, and we wanted to enjoy your life after you would have sought whatever constant or anything that you need.
13:18In situations like this, we know things are valuable.
13:21I mean, it hurts me when somebody steals somebody's wedding ring with such sentimental value or chain that may have been passed on to you from your deceased father or your deceased mother.
13:31These guys aren't even taking these things into consideration.
13:37And it hurts.
13:38And I know there would be the human nature for a flight of fright.
13:42One may want to resist, but resisting could only, it could result in something even more consequential and negative consequence on your behalf.
13:51So what we would like you to do is to pay attention and look for distinguishing and identification marks on the individual so that should we apprehend them, you can identify them and say, listen, this is the person that was there.
14:06He or she may have had a teardrop under their right eye or a tattoo saying, you know, with some symbol on his left forearm or something.
14:15So we ask that you, you know, you try to take in as much details with respect to these situations so that you can help us to help you.
14:22Rest assured, those are the two assailants I am almost sitting will be held in the shortest possible time, seeing that the police have already been able to apprehend two of those suspects.
14:32And, you know, as we talk about that kind of robbery, there was a really frightening robbery that took place in the Fairways, Maraval area yesterday.
14:41Five men posing as landscapers entered the home of a homeowner while his housekeeper and gardener was there.
14:51This happened around 11.30 in the Fairways area.
14:54And apparently they were dressed in green coveralls and during, claiming to be from a landscaping company.
15:00One of the men armed with a farm ordered this 42-year-old gardener to the ground.
15:05Another suspect reportedly beat and restrained him with tie straps before stealing his mobile phone.
15:11A second intruder then slapped the 21-year-old housekeeper and robbed her of a cell phone.
15:15These three suspects went to the homeowner's bedroom where they ordered them to open a safe that contained approximately 100,000 Canadian dollars,
15:25a equivalent of just about 600,000 TT dollars.
15:30And the group flood is seen shortly after.
15:32So, officers of the Sinclair Police Station is asking anyone with information about this particular crime to contact them at the Sinclair Police Station.
15:41Of course, 800 tips or 999.
15:44999.
15:45We have 800 tips as well and 555.
15:47You know, with situations like these, you know, when you really listen to these situations, you know, it sends off a lot of bells and alarms in your mind.
16:00I mean, they were ordered to a room where they were asked to open a safe.
16:06Could it be that someone would have told them the contents of that safe?
16:11Has to be.
16:11Because that fairways area is an area that's really quiet.
16:20Yeah.
16:20It's also gated, so it's difficult to get in just like that.
16:23Definitely.
16:24There's security at both entrances.
16:27Recently, they would have, you know, you could have come off the side and got through the back.
16:31Now, they actually have a car booth now set up there before you go in.
16:36So, I'm still wondering, how were these men able to get into that area?
16:39So, you know that there was some bit of information sharing among persons.
16:43So, Trinidad and Tobago, being in a gated community, being fenced around, having 100 cameras, you still need to do your due diligence.
16:57Nothing, nothing there is nothing that exempts you from being a victim.
17:01Remember, we have to continue to be careful.
17:03You have to continue to know what is going on around you.
17:06Be aware of your surroundings.
17:08Take as much steps as necessary to secure yourself and secure your premises.
17:13Pay attention to crime prevention through environmental design.
17:16You know, community watch groups.
17:18We champion those things with the assistance of the police.
17:20Mr. Carmichael, he has done wonderful work in setting up a lot of neighborhood watch groups.
17:26You know, we commend him for that.
17:28So, you know, we want that community living.
17:30We want persons who may have had footage on their cameras in the neighborhood to also share the footage with the police
17:37because we may be able to see another angle or see a vehicle that has been used or something that somebody else's camera would not have captured as a result of that incident.
17:47So, we're asking for your continued cooperation.
17:49And, you know, I know when these things happen, it seems alarming.
17:53It comes across like, you know, what really going on?
17:57But the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, we are really doing our best to make Trinidad and Tobago safer.
18:03And I know you would have heard the calls being echoed that serious crimes are down and the murder rate is down by more than 230 as compared to the same period last year.
18:13And, you know, we want you to feel that level of safety.
18:16However, incidents like these tend to throw us back.
18:19But, please, we encourage you to live and trust us and assist us and really work with us so that we can make Trinidad and Tobago a better place.
18:29Yes, indeed.
18:29And the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, just in a small media release here, arrested one person and cocaine was seized in your Western Division near St. James and also in San Fernando.
18:41They went to, the officers went to the Woodbrook Cemetery along McCraper Road where they would have found a black plastic bag concealed in a tree.
18:50The bag contained 25.1 grams of cocaine and $363 in cash and one digital scale.
18:58Of course, the excess was spreaded by senior spreader and Williams, coordinated by Inspector Bassant.
19:03No relation supervised by Acting Corporal Piper with support from the other officers of the St. James Police Station and the Western Division Community Oriented Policing Section.
19:12Yes, but I know the Western Division, as well as the rest of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, continue to do our best.
19:18All divisions, by now, would have launched a Christmas to Carnival crime plans and we are indeed paying special attention to schools because that cemetery is in very close proximity to a school.
19:29So, when I became aware of the incident, I was hoping that whoever the contents belong to, I mean, at first I wish that we had caught the suspect.
19:39Yeah.
19:40But I'm hoping that that person really wasn't selling that cocaine to the nation's youth.
19:48I mean, sometimes I wonder.
19:51Because it's a much of a penalty in the precincts.
19:55And not only that, too, that would continue to, that would result in a continuous, how to put it, a degeneration of our children.
20:04Yeah.
20:05You know what I mean?
20:06I'm serious.
20:06It would continue to destroy their minds.
20:11Yes, sir.
20:11Well, we're hopeful that, you know, that individual was not doing what you said they were doing.
20:16And we also had a separate incident on Tuesday also at 4 p.m.
20:19and officers conducted an exercise in the Laramene district.
20:24P.C. Lalo conducted a search on a 29-year-old man on Charles Street, Laramene, along the Southern Main Road,
20:29and he was found in possession of 18.2 grams of cocaine.
20:33He was cautioned and arrested and conveyed to the San Fernando Police Station,
20:37where he was expected to be formally charged for the possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
20:42So you recognize North, South, East, West, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, we are working.
20:48Yes, indeed.
20:49Our crime-fighting initiatives are bearing fruit.
20:52And we could only get better with the cooperation of the persons.
20:55We want you all to have that love and that care for country.
20:59If you see something, say something.
21:01800-655-5999.
21:04So all we need is the information.
21:06Yep, indeed.
21:07All right.
21:07It's day 126 of the state of emergency.
21:10We want to quickly take you through the figures.
21:13Number of operations, 9,215.
21:18Target priority offenders, 3,001.
21:21Search is conducted, 61,447.
21:23Traffic operations, 6,476.
21:26Total persons arrested, 4,004.
21:29Total persons charged, 2,319.
21:33Traffic operations detected, 35,590 farms recovered.
21:37No change.
21:38Total, 216.
21:39Ammunition recovered, no change.
21:422,794 wrongs.
21:45Dangerous drug continues to rise.
21:48806,064.11 grams of cannabis.
21:5210,132.82 grams of cocaine.
21:56Estesia and Molly remain the same.
21:58216,000.
22:00216,000 firearms, eh?
22:03and over 2,500 rungs of assorted ammunition.
22:10And we know that there are more out there.
22:13And, you know, the way Trinidad and Tobago is situated
22:17and surrounded by water,
22:20we always have a problem with the border control.
22:25But we will continue to try our best.
22:28I know the other agencies under the umbrella
22:30of the Ministry of National Security
22:31would also continue to try their best
22:34to do what we could do to really stem the inflow.
22:38Because let's face it,
22:40there is no Fiam company in Trinidad and Tobago.
22:43There's no company that makes ammunition.
22:45There's no company that makes cocaine in Trinidad and Tobago.
22:47Yes, the cannabis can be legally grown,
22:50but from what I understand,
22:51ours does not carry the potency of the others.
22:56Hence, you see that big importation of cannabis and cocaine,
22:59and we understand that we need to do more.
23:04And with the assistance and the amalgamation of joint exercises
23:07with the other agencies under the umbrella
23:09of the Ministry of National Security,
23:11we will continue to do more.
23:14Yep.
23:14All right, let's take a quick look now at our headlines.
23:17So those are some of the headlines over the last 24 hours.

27:06Welcome back to Be On The Tape.
27:07I'm your host, Mark Busson, of course, joined today by ASP OE Russell
27:10of the Western Division.
27:13We have a video here to show you about police officers detaining a motorist
27:17yesterday in the San Fernando District.
27:21Apparently, maybe an infringement of some motor in laws there.
27:28And he was placed in handcuffs by several uniformed officers.
27:33I'm not familiar with the particulars, but certainly they would have seen certain things
27:39that, in their observation, rather, ASP, that warranted that the person be taken into custody.
27:47What we hope is that the viewing public, especially those who are motorists,
27:52would have seen this footage and take heed and changed, changed their driving habits,
28:00changed the way they operate, relax, and control their impatience on the roadway.
28:08And, you know, this is just another benefit and a positive result of our increase
28:14in boots on the ground for the Christmas, the carnival period.
28:20And after the Christmas, the carnival period is completed,
28:23we will have another type of operation as we continue to get officers passing out
28:28and being, you know, members, full-fledged members,
28:31and trying to build a police service.
28:33You know, we welcome the batch that passed out recently on Monday last.
28:37So we have more persons out there.
28:39So, people, we will catch you.
28:41Well, I'm looking at the officers there, and it seems like the ticket,
28:44it seems it's more than one ticket.
28:46More than one, yes.
28:47It's getting lengthy.
28:48And, I mean, not casting any aspersions in this particular situation, ASP,
28:55but dangerous things like driving without your insurance,
29:00putting yourself and others at risk,
29:02driving without a valid driver's permit,
29:06car feeling inspection, or not inspected your cars.
29:09Or not inspected, yeah.
29:10Those are things.
29:11We, for persons out there, we can't stop you to issue a ticket.
29:16And when we run your name through the system,
29:18recognize that you are a habitual offender,
29:20and you may have a warrant in the system.
29:24So we are asking if you have a fine, pay a fine,
29:26unless you decide to contest it in court.
29:28And if you contest the ticket in court and you lose,
29:31please pay your fine,
29:33because these unpaid tickets will eventually generate some sort of warrant for you.
29:39And it also poses a problem when it comes to renewal of your driver's permit
29:44at the license office.
29:47So we must be cognizant of that
29:49and think about the way we drive
29:51and really pay attention and really change our driving habits.
29:55We know that there are times where you are indeed in a hurry.
29:58We know life happens.
30:01But because life has happened to you,
30:04it doesn't mean that you risk another person's life.
30:06Yeah?
30:09Yeah, you're quite right.
30:11And I think a lot of motorists are very flippant on the roadways.
30:15They think that they will get away with it.
30:18Definitely.
30:18And with, as you said, with more,
30:20the presence of licensing officers, police, even traffic wardens,
30:26they have the authority if they see something is wrong with a vehicle
30:29or they suspect that that driver might be driving without a license.
30:35Or perhaps, as you say, you run the car through the system
30:38and you realize that there are some outstanding tickets for X, Y, and Z.
30:43Maybe over a period of time, we're saying enough is enough.
30:47And let me send this warning,
30:48because under our pillar number four, public safety,
30:52road safety is something that we also want to increase as well.
30:55So I know it's in our strategic and operational plan
30:58to procure more breathalyzer kits,
31:02to procure more speed guns,
31:05to procure more EFPN devices,
31:08so that we can have a greater presence and greater efficiency
31:12when it comes to ensuring that the roadway is safe.
31:16So we have, we ordered some toys.
31:18We have some toys that we hope to get soon.
31:21Yeah, I've been hearing,
31:22I think Sergeant Batson was on,
31:25and he also spoke about some stuff that is coming in pretty soon
31:30to deal with that whole drinking and driving,
31:33SEO and the nation's roadways,
31:35a much more sophisticated technology.
31:38Definitely.
31:38And I think it's needed, of course.
31:41If you know you're going to go out there and drink and drive,
31:44overdo it as we say, get a driver.
31:48And let me take it even one step further,
31:50because we're looking at drinking and driving,
31:52but now you can't consume marijuana in your home.
31:56What if that person is driving while being under the influence of marijuana,
32:01which is just as dangerous as being under the influence of alcohol?
32:06Yeah, I'm sure they'll have things to measure that blood level or whatever.
32:11We will get there.
32:12We are getting there,
32:13and we want to get there quickly.
32:17All right, we're going to take a short break,
32:18and when we come back,
32:19we'll take your calls.
32:20Stay with us.
32:21All right, guys,
32:21today we're going to start a new topic,
32:23and that topic is entitled
32:24There is no way I could teach in all that noise,
32:40and there is definitely no way
32:42we children could learn in that noise of violence.
32:46They deserve more.
32:48That fear, that anxiety.
32:51We have to have our classrooms filled with joy, laughter, and hope, not fear.
32:58That is why I support the TCPS School Orienting Policing Initiative.
33:03This is not just about law enforcement.
33:07It's about building trust.
33:10Parents, teachers, students, and officers
33:13all coming together to provide a safe space
33:17where young minds can flourish.
33:20If we all stand side by side,
33:24we can protect our children,
33:26keep them safe,
33:27and they could have a space to learn
33:30without anxiety and fear.
33:34I am ready to partner with the TCPS
33:37in fostering safe, respectful,
33:40and empowered schools across Chinadad and Tobago.
33:44It's not a simple task.
33:46We need parents, students, teachers,
33:49and communities to get involved.
33:53It's time to get on board.
33:55Securing our schools.
33:58Securing our future.

35:49One currency.
35:51Freedom of movement.
35:52And freedom of trade.
35:54Freedom of trade.
35:55Tobago will have our own national sporting teams.
35:58The time has come for Tobagonians to take our rightful place in the world.
36:03This is the idea.
36:05There's nothing more powerful than the idea whose time has come.
36:09Whose time has come.
36:10Your mission in every polling station.
36:13Vote.
36:14Vote.

36:18And our freedom is a must.
36:21No matter how the heat.
36:22Then we can't stand for peace and love and unity.

37:06Welcome back to Beyond the Tape.
37:22I'm your host, Mark Wilson, and of course, joined today by ASP Owe Russell of the Western Division.
37:27We quickly just want to bring you up to speed with some missing children via the Children's Authority.
37:33Have you seen Isaiah Regis, age 17, last seen in the Port of Spain area?
37:38Please, if you have any information, contact the authority at 996 or the police at 999.
37:45Then we have Jana Marie Regis, age 15, last seen in the Port of Spain area.
37:51If anybody has any information about her whereabouts, please contact the authority at 996 or police at 999.
37:58Well, firstly, to those, I mean, if they are seeing themselves, we are asking you to please, you know, come to the police station and just turn yourself in.
38:19I want to send a warning as well.
38:22I am looking at the ages, especially of the females, and I hope, I really pray and I hope that they aren't being kept in a house against their will
38:33or they are okay with being in that house for whatever activities because they are underage.
38:41Yes.
38:42All three of those children, they are within a particular age.
38:46So, please, if you have them, encourage them to turn themselves in or you can take them.
38:55And if you are seeing yourself on the TV, we are asking you to turn yourself in as well.
39:00Put an end to the worrying to your parents, your families, your loved one.
39:05Please and thank you.
39:06Yep.
39:06Do the right thing.
39:07Remember the numbers to call, 623-1711, extensions, 1996 and 1997.
39:13And while we wait on your calls, of course, we know Christmas is in the air.
39:16Oh, yes.
39:17And I know that the police service has set up what you may call Operation Festive Shield across Trinidad and Tobago.
39:24Throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
39:25Festive Shield is just the name of our operations where you would see heightened police activities.
39:31You would also see members of the Defense Force accompanying us to certain areas.
39:35And a lot of operations, I was on the way home this morning and I saw a nice police exercise, a roadblock, in the inclement weather.
39:44So, I want to commend those officers in the vicinity of the Piyaku traffic light and on the highway.
39:51And I was like, wow.
39:52You know, really dedication to duties for those officers.
39:55And we commend them.
39:56We commend their supervisors.
39:57Because in that inclement weather, I don't think anybody wanted to be out there.
40:02I mean, the rain didn't start to fall as yet.
40:04Yeah.
40:05But it was overcast, highly overcast.
40:07And they were out there.
40:09And I am speaking probably somewhere between half past seven and quarter to eight.
40:14Wow.
40:15Doing their traffic enforcement exercise.
40:17You know, we are paying attention to the petty crimes, the chain snatchers and stuff like that.
40:23But we want to ask the public to help us, to help you.
40:26So, you know, you're going to shop.
40:28Leave your cell phone in the bag.
40:30Secure your cell phone.
40:32Be aware of your surroundings.
40:34Leave the jewelry at home.
40:35You don't know where you might end up.
40:37Sometimes you leave to buy an item.
40:39And you think you might get it in one part of Portospin.
40:42And you end up in another part looking for the same item.
40:44And you really slip your mind that you have on your nice chin.
40:49Yeah.
40:50You have on your nice ring or the gold band that may carry some sort of sentimental value.
40:55You know, we want to also encourage persons.
40:58The too good to be true deals, the massive discounts, the Facebook marketplace persons are still being scammed daily.
41:08We have been speaking relentlessly day in, day out to be careful, to have persons accompanied to the station if you so insist that you must buy this product from this person on Facebook.
41:20And persons are still coming to us and reporting that they would have been scammed, they would have been robbed, they would have been abused.
41:28Be careful where you swipe your credit cards.
41:32To the business owners, the check that comes in quarter to four, ten to four on a Friday evening where there's no way to verify the authenticity of that check.
41:42We ask you to do your due diligence and we understand, we know that things are a little tight for many of us out here, you know, including myself.
41:53But, you know, we ask that you earn a side of caution and, you know, really prevent yourself from becoming a victim to these various scams that tend to pop up from time to time,
42:02especially on the Christmas season we want to also caution persons there.
42:06This is a time, Christmas, the carnival is a time where a lot of persons tend to circulate counterfeit monies.
42:12Yeah.
42:12So we ask you to do your due diligence because there's a lot of money will be coming into the system, persons buying their drinks, their groceries, their curtains, their whatever items.
42:20You know, so we're just asking that you do your due diligence as well and we will also assist you and continue to do that due diligence with you.
42:28All right. Thanks so much, ESP Russell.
42:30We have our first caller in line.
42:31Caller, good evening and welcome to be on the tape.
42:34Hello, good evening.
42:35Good evening.
42:36This must be quite appropriate, but I will not mention names.
42:41I call that three concerning something on Bogos.
42:44This is like a public call for help.
42:46I mean, it's a couple of years.
42:48We enter our church.
42:49I'm not going to call the name, right?
42:50And we enter our church.
42:52We pay close to $5,000.
42:53That's a difference.
42:55When I reach home, the pastor followed me home.
42:56I'm speaking clearly over home.
42:58I'm going to cut it short.
42:59She walked into the home.
43:01We're being tormented.
43:02The natural woman in the house threatening us.
43:04I'm trying to meet my son.
43:06I'm calling from Southside.
43:08If you can come down and see us, or maybe we can have a closer talk.
43:11And nobody will not deliver.
43:13I don't want to tell you this.
43:15This pastor has told us.
43:17And they're entering into people who are in the spirit, judging them and killing one or two of my customers get killed.
43:23I would like to get in contact.
43:25This is our school for help.
43:26If pastors, anybody helping.
43:28About over 20 pastors don't pray.
43:30I pay up to $15,000 for help.
43:32And this woman, she's holding me in my spirit.
43:35And she's speaking through me.
43:36So, I wouldn't get in contact with Mark Bassan or any operator that would be able to take a postman report.
43:43Our home came a haunted house.
43:45She run my son from the home and so on.
43:48I wouldn't go for that, Mr. Mark Bassan.
43:50So, this is our scream for help.
43:52The natural woman in the house.
43:54I call her.
43:54Thanks so much.
43:55When pastors prayed, we went and get, I mean, I talk to my mind.
43:59We did like 14 days fast, fast, body of the truth.
44:03If pastors, anybody here in, it is our scream for help.
44:06We trust her.
44:07She's a well-known pastor.
44:09She's preaching normal on the radio.
44:11So, if Mark Bassan will take my numbers.
44:14Somebody help us, please.
44:15She's threatening us.
44:16So, it's like, they're holding on to me in my spirit.
44:19I've become like a mannequin.
44:20She's talking through me, moving me.
44:22And there's a whole lot more, please.
44:25All right.
44:26Call her.
44:26Leave your number with the producer.
44:28And we'll try and contact you.
44:31Okay?
44:31Thanks so much for your contribution.
44:35We're going to take a short break.
44:36And when we come back, we'll have more.
44:38Stay with us.
44:39As parents and teachers, we came together to establish the National Council of Parent-Teacher Association.
44:46Because we firmly believe that there is greater strength in unity.
44:49Today, our schools face real challenges.
44:54Bullying, violence, and fear.
44:57No parent should send a child to school and wonder if they will be safe.
45:02No teacher should walk into a classroom afraid of losing control.
45:07That's why we welcome the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service into our schools.
45:13They bring expertise.
45:15They bring skill.
45:16And most importantly, they bring the reassurance that learning can happen in peace.
45:21We believe in unity.
45:23Now we are stronger.
45:25We are on board with the police.
45:27The School-Oriented Policing Initiative.
45:31Securing our schools.
45:33Securing our future.

46:53How did that get started?
46:54Well, my family has been using it for years for their joint health.
46:57And they always encouraged me to try it.
46:59Once I did, I noticed a significant improvement in my energy levels and overall wellness.
47:05Remember, you deserve the best.
47:07Choose Omega XL.
47:29Choose Omega XL.
47:59Choose Omega XL.
48:30Plus, I can't afford to pay another speeding ticket.
48:34A message from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
48:40Welcome back to Beyond the Tape.
48:55I'm your host, Mark Bissett.
48:56And, of course, joined today by ASP, OE Russell of the Western Division.
49:00And we want to remind you of the numbers to call.
49:02623-1711.
49:05Extensions 1996 and 1997.
49:07On this very wet Thursday, as we wait on your calls, we continue the discussion about Christmas and taking those precautions when you're out shopping.
49:18Don't walk with a lot of cash with you, you know.
49:22Just walk with what you need to if you know you're going to make a purchase at X, Y, and Z rather than walk with heaps of cash.
49:29And if you go to the bank, don't go to the bank and then put the cash in your car and leave it and go to the grocery or the drugstore or something.
49:37Because criminals are watching all these movements.
49:40Let me just put it this way.
49:41Always carry about yourself as someone is watching.
49:45We're not telling you to be over-paranoid.
49:48But just be aware.
49:50Another thing I want to speak about is persons leaving their shopping items on the seats of their vehicles, the phones, you know.
49:58Pushing the handbag under the seat, that has gone out.
50:01They are now aware that sometimes the handbags are placed under the seat, so they know where to look for it.
50:07So be careful the items that you leave on display in your vehicle.
50:14Be careful where you park your vehicle.
50:18I know sometimes you may go in when it's well lit, and by the time you come out of that particular shopping area or shopping zone,
50:25where you would have parked that car is no longer well lit.
50:28But exercise due diligence, exercise caution when you're going towards your vehicle.
50:33Take that minute, put down the phone, your phone, everybody's phone have a camera, which can be used as a touch light.
50:39You could use same, these little tools, simple tools, to illuminate the area around you,
50:44to ensure that, you know, there's nobody hiding or in any bushes.
50:48I mean, you could only be as safe as you really practice.
50:53Yes, yes, indeed.
50:54All right, we have a caller on the line.
50:56Caller, good evening, and welcome to be on the tape.
50:58Yeah, good afternoon.
51:00Good evening, ma'am.
51:01I have made about four or five times I have called the Children's Authority number.
51:11Concerning some children, they look like Spanish children,
51:16on what you call the Bailey Bridge that is in Montrose.
51:19That is just after the dollar value in coming up.
51:24Yes.
51:25Like you're coming from Chavona's coming up.
51:27Just after there's a bridge.
51:30They call it the Bailey Bridge.
51:32And there are some children, like Spanish children, about five, six of them.
51:39When the cars stop, they run into the cars and apparently begging the drivers.
51:43They have some adults with them, but they are away from them.
51:50And this evening when I passed, the adults, they were plucking one another's eyebrows and
51:54children and them just running the cars.
51:58I have seen it on many occasions.
52:00And I have made complaints to the Children's Authority and nothing like it's been done.
52:09So I just, that is my contribution.
52:13And because I am thinking, if anything, I'm to these children,
52:16the cars themselves, they could pick up one of them.
52:19Because one of them fell down this evening and the parents didn't even notice that the child fell.
52:24She just continued plucking the other one's eyebrows and short pants.
52:29And every evening, it passes the same thing there, from morning to evening.
52:36Right?
52:37So I would just like if somebody could do something, they could do something about it.
52:44Because those children's lives are in danger.
52:49I look at it that way.
52:51Thanks so much, Kola, for that information, ESP Russell.
52:55What I would do, I would definitely communicate with the Chaguanos Police Station and with the SDICV
53:00and have them look into this matter with the assistance of the Children's Authority.
53:05It may be that they are illegal immigrants or whatsoever, however, we'll treat it.
53:11As more information comes in, we would look into it and we would definitely go on.
53:15What is placed before us is what we would treat with.
53:18I think a caller a couple of weeks ago, maybe a couple of months ago, did call about a similar situation in that area.
53:25And then there is also near the movie town area there as well, where you also see a lot of young children with their mothers in the Hudson,
53:34and, you know, with signs and so on.
53:36And it's really very troubling on a number of levels to see, you know, parents have these young children out in the Hudson begging and so on.
53:44And I know, we don't know anybody's situation, but it's, I mean, that in itself, you know, seeing these children and they're at risk there with these moving vehicles passing up and down.
53:56It is very disheartening, of course, and I am hopeful that, you know, that caller, like many others, would have been traversing the road there.
54:04Concerned about the safety of these children, and for more than one reason, of course, and they obviously need the authorities to get involved.
54:12Well, I'm attached to the Western Division.
54:13I mean, yes, I would call show on us tomorrow, God's Fair Life, and we can have them treat with the situation.
54:19And I would also have a conversation with my senior superintendent, Mr. Williams, as well as the management of the Western Division,
54:26and see what we can put in place to rectify this situation.
54:30And we know there's also a situation where the persons that wipe the glass, and some of them bombard you, and some of them are quite disrespectful.
54:40But you know what?
54:41The reason why they are there still is because you, the motoring public of Trinidad and Tobago, also encourage them, because you patronize them.
54:50Yes, P, we have one last caller.
54:52Caller, good evening, and welcome to be on the tape quickly.
54:55Have a minute.
54:55Yes, thank you very much.
54:56Thank you very much.
54:57It's welcome, sir.
54:58And the officer there, who's in my division, a very pleasant officer indeed.
55:02I know him.
55:04So I just want to say congratulate the police again, because I saw on social media,
55:11it's thinking that they have some people in custody with that vicious attack.
55:16I'll describe it as a vicious attack on the citizens in that maxi or something in the east.
55:22So I want to congratulate the police for the good work in getting those culprits, and they should be put where they deserve to be.
55:31That is not the way how people should be behaving.
55:34And it hurt my heart, right, as a former member of the Defend Force, to see people, young people,
55:42would have so much opportunities for programs like the CCC.
55:46They have the programs like the Myrat and Mypat, all those programs.
55:49And still, those young people still want to go in and maxi and slap up and beat up people.
55:55Oh my God, who's your parent?
55:57How they will feel to see how they have gone astray in such a vicious way.
56:02So well done to the police.
56:03I salute you, Inspector.
56:05I know you're from the west, right by the port here, right, live here, right?
56:09And you are doing a good job.
56:10You're always approachable and very, very, very pleasant.
56:14Well done, Inspector.
56:16I salute you.
56:17God bless you all.
56:18It's ASP Kuala, but thanks so much.
56:20ASP, we have about a minute and a half.
56:21Thank you very much.
56:22He's trying to make me blush on national television.
56:24I thank you for that.
56:27You know, we know that we have our jobs cut out, but I want to thank the public because we could not have apprehended these guys without the information from the public.
56:35So I thank you, and we want you to continue to work with us and cooperate with us and assist us and be patient.
56:41And even at times where we may wrong you, we ask for your forgiveness.
56:45We ask for your mercy because there are some persons who, like, I don't know, they probably try to test the police on a daily basis, but we ask for your continued guidance.
56:55We ask for your prayers continuously because we need the covering to do this job that we do, you know, and we will apprehend the others.
57:04And we want you to do your part and to see the matter through its conclusion by way of prosecution in the court of law.
57:13That's well said.
57:13And young men out there, please, we implore you, choose the right path.
57:17I know it's very hard at times, but give yourself the chance instead of ending up behind bars at a very young age and living a life of crime for a long time and then you graduate into more serious crime.
57:28Again, change your life and get yourself on the right track.
57:32And you have people like, you know, Corporal Shabody and other officers like ASP Russell who want to see you all go on the right path.
57:39So young men out there, wake up.
57:41It's time.
57:42We want to see positive things from you and not the negative things we see on social media.
57:47All right.
57:47ASP Russell, thanks so much for spending the last hour with us.
57:50Well, as usual, it's a pleasure being here, trying to be able to have a safe weekend.
57:54Remember, the roads will be wet.
57:55Take your time, maintain your vehicles, be careful, love and look out for each other.
57:59Well done.
58:00OK, remember, we run tonight at 11.30, two runs tomorrow at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
