07:31to engage yeah if you are one fireman of course the statistics would be
07:35significantly less so again we are asking the public these persons would be
07:41traversing with the farms let us know so we can treat with the issues according
07:47to law and minimize the risk of the public getting involved in the firefight
07:52I think the Commissioner of Police Alistair Guevara said on numerous
07:57occasions of course please put down your firearms do not engage police officers
08:02and give yourselves a surrender because the end in this case and in many other
08:08cases could end tragically of course we also have to look at the other side of
08:12that there's a huge concern about police related shootings fatalities rather and
08:18of course there is a particular body that also looks into those matters the police
08:23complaints authority and so on yes we operate within the confines of the law
08:30as you are where we do have a use of force policy and I don't think if someone is
08:37shooting at me they expect me to scream and shout stop I would have to take use
08:44enough force as is necessary to eliminate the threat or minimize the threat to my
08:50life and the life of others right so it's unfortunate as a rightfully said it's
08:54tragic but once you engage the officers on the lawful execution of their duties
09:01and they respond it is lawful it is in fact lawful all right so hopefully are those
09:09criminals out there you know just surrender to the police instead of trying
09:13to engage the police because it's not a win-win situation and instead of
09:18surrendering try to avoid committing crime well that too of course but if you
09:23are already in the age of committing that crime so the police have found out
09:28where you are located and you have firearms and you decide instead of giving
09:32yourself up you're going to engage the police not a good idea I totally agree it's
09:37not good idea at all all right so sergeant we have been talking about this time
09:43immorale about marketplace about going on Facebook and so on and looking to sell
09:48items or buy items and unfortunately there was an incident in the lavender area
09:54where a gentleman went on Tuesday to attempt to sell a ps5 console for the price of
10:02$4,800 what happens the suspect meets him grabs that console and that's off gives
10:12chase there's a physical confrontation or a you know altercation sorry and in that
10:19altercation the victim has $3,000 in his possession that falls to the ground the
10:27suspect spots that grabs the money and run and run off again to the be thumb gardens
10:34area again mark we are asking our citizenry to utilize wisdom right we all are aware
10:45climate in which we live in at present and yes you want to trade you want to make some
10:54form of revenue but it makes no sense in doing so that they're putting your life
11:00at risk right not for the sake of $4,800 right if you all need to barter to
11:08exchange to conduct a legitimate business do so in places where it may be safe to do so
11:14by that being said I'm I recall during the Christmas period I'm the St. Joseph
11:19Police Youth Club opened their gates and their doors for safe transaction
11:24on the police group you club compound right so we can look for avenues like
11:29these but a traverse in the love until knowing the challenges we are facing with
11:35not only your property but with a significant amount of cash it's somewhat
11:42reckless yes I do better those who are listening I hope it goes in this and
11:47stays there does not come out the other way yeah that's all I have to say about
11:50that it's it's it's becoming a norm now for people they're not listening they're
11:55not reading the newspaper or listening on television about numerous times people
12:01are robbed or even hurt in the process and even killed at times exactly and we
12:06keep sending out the message all right
12:09we have this mindset that it may not it it may not happen to me but there's also a
12:16chance that it may happen to you so let us take all the necessary precautions yes to
12:20avoid it from happening at all certainly all right so sergeant a very troubling story
12:25here student held with cannabis and a school compound apparently yesterday
12:30morning at a school in South Trinidad the discovery was made inside a bag I
12:37suspected my days book bag the school's administration and officers of the
12:41division were informed about the matter and the boy was arrested in
12:44connection with the find the minor is charged with possession of cannabis and
12:48is expected to appear before the children's court Fisabad on Friday that's
12:52tomorrow it's really really a sad state of affairs that you know you know a young man
13:00would go on to the school come on with an illegal substance and you know he says I
13:07think this is the second time this has happened within less than a month and less
13:10than a month yes from when school was open to know right all young people seem to be
13:17making some poor decisions at this time it is unfortunate that these young people
13:22are having to face judges because they don't face magistrates as juveniles they face
13:28masters of the court and sometimes marking me song in the song insensitive but
13:37sometimes deceive the rest of the flock examples have to be set yeah so if you
13:43are phone in air of the law and you are charged you only have yourself to blame
13:49because we are putting the messages out there we are asking you to abide within the
13:53confines of the law so if you are caught and you are charged and you are before
13:57the court it may assist in saving the rest of the school population as an example is
14:03set yeah all right so hopefully those students listening out there you know
14:08please do not engage in an illicit activity do not engage in any substance kind of
14:14abuse or you know using these things because it ends you will only end up on the wrong side of the law and you know a young impressionable mind now
14:23is now before the courts because you have to face the consequences of your actions
14:28and of course the consequence may not just be going to court yeah you will want a
14:32certificate of character as you get older you're seeking employment you may be
14:37stigmatized and labeled and branded most places of employment now ask questions
14:44within the community in which you reside and you wouldn't want the narrative to be
14:48well you was arrested for marijuana however the case may be it even or how well to
14:53secure the type of employment you'll want in your adult life yeah so we're asking
14:58our young people to make better decisions your future actually depends on it
15:03certainly and we were just talking about the marketplace here and I don't know if
15:07this is a similar situation but yesterday a police officer and his mother went to the
15:15Lavon Tilleria to supposedly sell a hoodie and near L&M engineering along the eastern
15:22main road when two men approached them apparently one of the suspects placed his
15:28hand in the pocket of the young man and said this was a robbery luckily his mother who owns a
15:35license firearm pulls a firearm and both men ran off in the Lavon Tilleria once again I don't think it's it's
15:42wise to be trying to conduct conduct uh business transactions not only there but in other suspect areas
15:49across Trinidad and Tobago exactly um again let us seek places that may be safe to conduct these
16:00transactions um luckily they were able to utilize what is called situational awareness yes um identifying the
16:07threat before it was close enough to make impact and again mommy having a licensed farm would have
16:14done what was required to protect her life and the life of her son yeah right but we're asking let us avoid it
16:22altogether by going safe well-lit areas that could avoid the situation on the whole yes certainly all right so it's day 77 of the state of emergency we just want to quickly take you through
16:35through those figures number of operations five thousand four hundred and sixty one target priority offenders
16:42nineteen hundred and seventy four searches conducted thirty five thousand two hundred and forty five traffic
16:49operations three thousand five hundred and ninety three total persons arrested twenty four hundred and eighty three
16:56traffic offenses detected twenty thousand eight hundred and eighteen firearms recovered thus far no change
17:05there total one hundred and forty seven firearms ammunition recovered we had a little uh rise in the nine
17:12millimeter 909 rungs a grand total of eighteen hundred and thirty four rungs of ammunition recovered then in a dangerous
17:20drug seized we also had another rise four hundred and forty eight thousand six hundred and forty six point six
17:25two grams of marijuana eight thousand one hundred and forty seven point eight eight grams of cocaine
17:30one thousand and thirty two estacy pills and 15 grams of molly mark again we have almost hit the half a million
17:39grams of marijuana which says a lot um also standing out would be that of the amount of traffic offenses yes
17:48right and if we were to use the narrative of the traffic offenses compared to society then we are trouble
17:56it speaks of us being a very lawless nation yeah right and then we complain and we see that the officers
18:03have um a tally of tickets to bring in but that tally can only be met if we break the law yeah right so we
18:10need to be um take that into cognizance as well all right sergeant we're going to take a quick look now at our headlines
18:18uh
18:21uh
18:23uh
18:28uh
18:32uh
18:33uh
18:35uh
18:37uh
18:39uh
18:41uh
18:43So those are some of the headlines within the last 24 hours.
18:58We're going to take a short break, and when we get back, we'll take some of your calls.

21:07Welcome to the 6 to 26 World Cup Podcast
21:12with Andre, Errol Batiste, and Tony Lee.
21:27Welcome back to Beyond the Tape.
21:49I'm your host, Mark Bessant,
21:51joined today by Sergeant Benedict of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
21:55Sorry?
21:56Greenwich.
21:57Greenwich. My bad.
21:59Apologies. I don't know why I was thinking Benedict.
22:01I think I was just reading something with the people.
22:03The school St. Benedict.
22:03Yes. I know you went to St. Benedict.
22:04Yes.
22:06And I saw something just as we were off here that said St. Benedict.
22:10So, my apologies, Sergeant Greenwich.
22:12Right. So, as we're on the topic of St. Benedict,
22:14excellent win yesterday, guys, against Signal Hill 3-2.
22:18All right.
22:18Well, I would say the same thing for my team,
22:21Naprivo College, excellent win as we continue to top the table.
22:24But nevertheless, let's move on.
22:26We have a caller on the line.
22:27Caller, good evening and welcome to be on the team.
22:30Good evening, Mr. Bessant and a very good evening to the Sergeant.
22:36Good evening.
22:37Good evening.
22:37A couple of issues related to the user, the muries.
22:43The first one.
22:44Producer, we just need a little more volume on his call.
22:46I'm hearing him, but just faintly.
22:48Go ahead, sir.
22:49All right.
22:50One of the things is a school child caught with the marijuana.
22:55And I want to say, is there a nexus with the four plans that one can have at home?
23:06Because, to me, a young person could gladly take out some leaves and carry it to school.
23:14So I think that has to be fleshed out into where that child, school child, got those marijuana.
23:20The other thing is the market's place,
23:24where the woman, who I believe was a police constable,
23:30and the son, she was able to resist that robbery.
23:35Now, there is an issue with the saying,
23:41do as I say and not as I do.
23:44And the police has to address that issue.
23:48And that is really facetious with respect to the police service.
23:52The first point is, I want to congratulate the TTPS for that large haul, $314 million drug bust in Palociko.
24:07You know what that reminds me of?
24:10Another large drug bust.
24:12The Monos Island drug bust.
24:14It's half the value.
24:16Now, if we relive that case, that prosecution, and that investigation by the police,
24:24the High Court judge, during that trial, said the police service was complicit with their investigation.
24:34And I'm hoping, again, now we are reliving our picture of all,
24:41and I'm hoping that the police can address that issue,
24:44that the judge at that point in time pointed fingers at Aaron and complicit officers.
24:50I'm going to have a nice evening.
24:52Thanks a lot, Kola.
24:54Thank you, Kola.
24:57We are doing our best in terms of seizures
25:00and trying to get where we need to be in terms of abiding.
25:05By the law, with regards to the children and the school,
25:08I want to agree with you in terms of where they may be acquiring the narcotics.
25:17However, I want us to be reminded that having alcohol in school as well is prohibited,
25:22and most of us will have alcohol at home.
25:25Yes.
25:25The onus is on us as a society, as parents,
25:29to ensure that our children understand the rule of law
25:33and adhering to the rule of law
25:35and to also understand that there is a time and place and age for everything.
25:41And the use of marijuana at their tender age will never be acceptable.
25:46It will never be lawful.
25:47And as such, even if parents may have the trees outside, which is lawful,
25:54they ought to know better than to take these.
25:56It's not preschool children and toddlers doing it.
25:59It's teenagers who are aware of the consequence of breaching the law
26:03that are doing it at this time.
26:05Yes, certainly.
26:06And of course, if you don't know,
26:07there are offenses of selling drugs in the perimeter of schools.
26:11Within a 500-meter perimeter.
26:14Correct.
26:14The offense will, in fact, be that for the purpose of trafficking.
26:18Exactly.
26:18Which carries a heavier sentence than simple possession.
26:21Yes.
26:21And even coming out to the school, as you said,
26:24it's also illicit.
26:24Whether or not it's, you know,
26:27they have a requisite amount of plants home,
26:30but taking it out and it's a minor begs the question.
26:35Right.
26:36All right.
26:36We have another caller on the line.
26:37Caller, good evening and welcome to be on the team.
26:40Pleasant afternoon, Mr. Basant.
26:42Good day, ma'am.
26:43Pleasant, good afternoon, Mr. Sergeant Grenade.
26:48Good afternoon, ma'am.
26:48I have two children.
26:50First, children, the school child and the married one.
27:00Sometimes parents leave early to go to work and leave child home to go to school.
27:08And sometimes the parents don't always know what it is going on.
27:13And the next thing again, if it's a proper parent, they go to check your surroundings,
27:18check your room, check your school bag, how was your day at school,
27:23go to the school at night as possible, and I know they have come up and be here, there,
27:29in school.
27:31That is one.
27:31Second proposition is that I don't have no trust, I feel sorry for this, I will call this one people
27:42who are doing transactions over, you know, online and all these sorts of things.
27:50Because it's not merely talking to this human being.
27:53Every single day I watch this program, and you're actually begging big men, big women,
28:00grown people to be careful of the surroundings and what they're doing.
28:05You want to do transactions, go by the police station.
28:08The police wouldn't hamburgers, but whatever they buy, they buy it wholesale.
28:14And I'm telling you, I have no reward, I don't feel sorry for them.
28:19They buy it wholesale.
28:21Have a good afternoon, guys.
28:23Thank you so much, Kuala.
28:26Sergeant.
28:26Again, she's hitting the nail on the head.
28:28As I was recently in discussion with parents, who highlighted that the foundation of the child is the home, right?
28:39So in terms of our children abided by the rule of law, adhering to the rule of law,
28:45understanding what is required of them in a society that has laws and rules, it generally would start at home.
28:53So she did make that valid point, as well as, you are right, ma'am.
28:59We have been pleading on every single platform known to man in terms of asking our citizens to make better choices
29:07when it comes to these financials and transactions.
29:11Yes.
29:11So once again, we are hoping that the message is getting out there and we make better decisions as a society.
29:16Yeah, and the caller also indicated that if you're not sure what your child is taking,
29:22the school in their school bag, by all right, you should go through the school bag.
29:26Getting checks.
29:27If you think that there might be something suspect or they're acting a specific way before they leave the house,
29:33if there's something lying around you see that might have gone missing, I'm just saying,
29:38you need to be cognizant of that and take ownership of that as a parent
29:43so that your child does not fall into that, you know, that category of trying to smuggle anything illegal into the school that they're going to.
29:54All right.
29:55Moving on, of course, we want to just let you know that the deadline is tomorrow.
30:00This is the Trinidad and Tobago promotional examinations.
30:04The portal has reopened.
30:06The Commission of Police has decided to reopen the portal for officers wishing to apply to sit the 2025 police promotional examinations
30:15for the ranks of corporal, sergeant, and inspector.
30:19This is to facilitate additional applications from eligible officers.
30:24Please note, the reopening of the window, it starts on Wednesday.
30:28Well, yesterday that was at 8 a.m. and ends tomorrow at noon.
30:34So I know that, Sergeant, you and perhaps others might be contemplating getting yourself set up for those promotional examinations.
30:44Most definitely.
30:46And if you really need the leadership, you will ensure that your child, your persons, who you are responsible for.
30:52Also, push themselves to elevate themselves in the service.
30:57Right.
30:57So I would expect that all the officers on my unit would meet the deadline and apply to write the exam.
31:07All right.
31:08So, well, good luck to you and all the officers who are going to be writing those promotional examinations.
31:14I appreciate that.
31:15And we hope that there will be incident-free and without any controversy come after these exams.
31:21Because we know in the past they've had issues.
31:24Yes.
31:24All right.
31:25We're going to take a short break and we'll be back.
31:27Stay with us.

35:59Welcome back to Beyond the Tape. I'm your host Mark Bessand, of course, joined today by Sergeant Greenidge of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
36:06And just before the break, of course, you saw that at the Paw and Order Top Dog Challenge, of course, Enter Your Dog to win the challenge.
36:16The deadline is actually October 4th, so you still have some time to enter that one-minute clip via Instagram, TikTok,
36:25for the Trinidad and Tobago Police Museum, so that they can see, and, you know, wish you the best of luck.
36:32Hopefully, your dog shall win.
36:34Alright, we have a caller on the line. Caller, good evening and welcome to Beyond the Tape.
36:39Good evening, sir. There's a question I have.
36:43Good day, ma'am.
36:44The trick I read on is a two-way street. It's a very fast.
36:49The trick that I have in is very general.
36:54What I want to say is sometimes when there are too many people and they travel, they park at both sides.
37:01Can they still get a backpacking?
37:04Is there anything you have to help with that?
37:08Because...
37:10Caller, you're still there?
37:13I'm here. I'm right here. I'm right here.
37:17Could you say which area, just because you're cutting in and out.
37:20You're not hearing everything.
37:21St. James.
37:22Sorry?
37:23St. James.
37:24So, you're saying that Carrs Park in the St. James area along both sides of the street?
37:27Right. Well, this street, my street is very busy. Night and day.
37:31But the church is very famous for big funerals.
37:34So, one of the things is that there's a parking thing that you can park in the right side of the street.
37:41And there are signs that they don't have no place to park.
37:45But in the park, could they still get a ticket for parking on the wrong side?
37:49Is there something that can be done?
37:51I'm just going to ask, is it a street near the off Western Monroe there by Royal Castle?
37:58I'm not sure if that's the street you're referring to.
38:00Because I've seen a number of persons parking on the left lane all the way up.
38:05I can't remember the name of the street at this point.
38:08But they park right on the stop side.
38:10George Cabral Street.
38:11Okay.
38:12Yes.
38:13That's the road there that runs, I think, parallel to the Long Circular Mall.
38:17Right.
38:18In that area there.
38:19At the end of the market, it doesn't matter what street it is.
38:22Yes.
38:23Unless there is express permission from the Commissioner of Police with respect to the traffic management
38:30on the day, the traffic signs are to be adhered to.
38:34Right.
38:35So if there are in fact no parking signs there and you are in breach of those signs.
38:40Yes.
38:41Under Section 66B, you can still be charged and ticketed for the offence.
38:46Yeah.
38:47Of the MB&R.
38:48It's a perennial problem in and around that St. James area.
38:51Yes.
38:52Because persons are parking right dead on the stop sign on the corner, which is a block
38:55away from the police station.
38:56I can't remember the name of the street right now.
38:58Just near Royal Castle there.
39:00So when you're coming up that street, they are parked on the corner.
39:03There is a drug store dead on the corner on the stop sign.
39:06And if vehicles are coming down and you are coming up, you have to give way.
39:10And I think that the police really need to look into that as well.
39:13And of course, if there's an activity or an event coming up and you are seeking to have
39:20the, to be facilitated, you can in fact write a correspondence to the seniors who have the
39:26division and sometimes the corporation based on the location asking for some level of assistance
39:36in treating with the traffic situation at that time.
39:39Yeah.
39:40Or in getting an exemption as well.
39:42Obviously.
39:43All right.
39:44So we had some social media videos to share with you.
39:49This one in a school in East Trinidad, Sergeant.
39:53Of course, a melee here between students.
39:58And I think I saw this yesterday and somebody was asking, where are the police officers?
40:05Okay.
40:06Now we are, we need to ensure that the public is aware that not every single school in
40:14Trinidad and Tobago presently have police officers.
40:18It doesn't work like that.
40:19There was selected, there was a risk assessment and based on the assessment, specific schools
40:24were identified to have police officers there.
40:28Right.
40:29Right.
40:30The police officers present in the school also does not take away from the school support
40:36systems in place to treat with discipline.
40:39Right.
40:40Right.
40:41So at the end of the day, we still require our teachers, our guidance counselors, our security
40:47personnel within the school to also assist in maintaining discipline at the schools.
40:53Yeah.
40:54And you know that second video there that we saw two young men squaring off, like if they
40:58were boxing.
40:59I'm ashamed that not just those two young men, you know, but the person who is filming that
41:04and allowing, you are encouraging that as well.
41:08And this, this is the situation to the enablers.
41:11Yeah.
41:12Right.
41:13We are doing a lot.
41:14Social media has changed the game so much.
41:15Indeed.
41:16That we no longer care in terms of school pride.
41:19How does this affect my school?
41:21How would it impact in terms of putting my school into disrepute?
41:24We're just doing everything for the likes and the hits and it's sad.
41:28Yeah.
41:29All right.
41:30So we have some CCTV footage from a robbery in the St. Helena area.
41:39The robbery was caught on camera.
41:41Now there are several persons allegedly involved in this situation here.
41:46We have some men mulling around outside the mini-mart for a period of time, perhaps standing,
41:52looking, looking out, acting as a lookout.
41:57And then there were, there were a couple of other persons, at least two other persons
42:01who were inside the establishment where, you see, apparently they're wearing some hats.
42:10So one is putting on his hoodie over his hat.
42:13Mm-hmm.
42:14And he's pretending to be maybe on the phone or not.
42:17And you're seeing them walking around here.
42:22One dips in what appears to be a firearm.
42:25He takes out from his, um, his waistband and points it to the cashier at the establishment,
42:31while the other assailant looks on.
42:34Obviously the woman is, is very, um, you know, scared that they, they're ordering her to open the gate
42:40so that they perhaps could come and empty the register is my estimation.
42:44We're seeing different angles of this, this incident.
42:48And of course you have the lookout outside so that anybody who is coming in and so on,
42:52you can alert his fellow assailants or fellow suspects in this matter.
42:58And they so basically walk into the area, the caching area there.
43:03And of course they would be emptying out the proceeds of, uh, the day.
43:08Seals.
43:09Uh, the seals rather.
43:10And, um, of course they would have taken other items as well, helping themselves.
43:16Anything they conceive will be kind apart from the cash that the sergeant.
43:20Um, again.
43:21See now they're dipping into the register here.
43:26So it seems that the, the second suspect in red, I, I think he's probably, probably taking cigarettes
43:33or maybe some other kind of, uh, merchandise.
43:36Not they could easily, um.
43:37Yeah.
43:38Trade.
43:39Yes.
43:40All right.
43:41Um, this is unfortunately, unfortunate.
43:44And of course, as the viewing of it, um, can traumatize the rest of the, our citizens.
43:50Indeed.
43:51In terms of something more, more tragic than the crime itself is the fear of crime.
43:56Or the fear that wondering that when you would be, if you would ever be a victim.
44:00Right.
44:01Um, for the cashier, I would like to say that, um, if the trauma has impacted the Trinidad
44:08Bago Police Service, has the victim and witness support unit that does in fact treat with counseling
44:14and so on to get you back to some level of normal.
44:18Right.
44:19Um, again, we are asking Trinidad Bago, if you will, vaguely, um, suspect that one of you
44:27know one of these people, communicate with the police.
44:30Yeah.
44:31Could you say could run that back slowly?
44:32Because good thing, Sergeant, is that they, you can actually make out some of these people,
44:36even though they are wearing hats.
44:37Yeah.
44:38You can see their faces.
44:39Right.
44:40So let us not wait until we become victim or some family of ours become victim before
44:44we decide to, um, share the information.
44:48You remember we keep saying, see something, see something.
44:51Yes.
44:52Indeed.
44:53So, um, you know, I, but the other, the other angles, you can see them coming in.
44:57Mm-hmm.
44:58You can see the two of them and he was standing outside at least, uh, well enough because it's
45:01well lit.
45:02You're seeing this one with the camouflage hat who had the firearm and then there were
45:07the other two outside.
45:08So, of course, if you have any information regarding this robbery, we are asking you to
45:12contact 800-TIPS-999 or the nearest police station, which would be maybe the PR police station
45:20in this instance.
45:21All right.
45:22We're going to take a short break and we'll be back now with more of your quotes rather.
45:26Come on.
45:27Come on.

48:27Welcome back to Beyond the Tape.
48:28I'm your host, Mark Basant.
48:29Of course, joined today by Sergeant Greenidge of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
48:34We have a caller on the line.
48:35Caller, good evening, and welcome to Beyond the Tape.
48:38To be honest, please.
48:39Please, please.
48:40Hello, sir.
48:41Well, dear sir.
48:42Something just happened sometimes last week with one of a very good friend of mine.
48:46I woke up in morning, and the taxi was full of police.
48:51You see that somebody reported that they had certain drugs and all this other thing.
48:56But remember, it's not what we do, it's how things are done.
49:00you know um it caused a lot of embarrassment uh within the district with the two families that
49:05they um they don't have been outside the beside right the problem is it was cleared clearly that
49:13um well you could come here one of your neighbors reported on you and this is the bad thing now my
49:20neighbor could wake up up in the morning and just feel to call the police and tell all embarrass me
49:26right and i think things need to be dealt or let the way out earlier the police especially that's
49:32speaking now they need to respond in ways that oh god come on this is people that is always in temple
49:40trying to do the right thing and it is so embarrassing for them you know as a person
49:46don't deal nothing nothing nothing close or anything illegal i don't even break the speed limit so i
49:51could expect a morning anybody could fly up here because it has something i'm sitting neighbors
49:55am i not good you know so they could fly up here morning police and i can go up in front my place
50:02let me let me do the thing right there please you know it have a softer side to things that you know
50:08i mean himself it could be done more professionally you know so it's not right right now they like they
50:15head down this is very disappointing because it's too commonly because one wake up a morning and decide
50:22let me let me let me let me let me lick them up you know police like that it's shameful so please
50:28officers are you doing a great job right now let me keep it up but let me do the professional
50:33so i did okay which area is this sir which area is this hello sorry which area is this sir
50:41was anything found sir sorry was anything found no nothing was found
50:47in the two families that they went through and there was a conflict between the two families
50:51the three families actually two right and one decided to call police on the both of them
50:56so they could pinpoint exactly who did they call you know c9 you know a load of police gun down in
51:13your face these people don't you just intend to write you you know thanks thank you sir well certainly i
51:25know with the state of emergency police officers don't need a warrant if you get information you
51:29could go uh to premises uh of some sort but sometimes people might give you erroneous information
51:35for their own selfish gains and in this instance perhaps this is one of them i'm not saying it is
51:40but you know we have to be wary of that as police police officers rather be wary of that because
51:46you know you find yourself in a position where they are law-abiding citizens and because i don't
51:51like you you're my neighbor i say you have something in your house this happens more often than that
51:56happens a lot of us i too may have felt victim to it however um there was an incident in the eastern
52:04division earlier this week yeah where um police would have received information about a man traversing
52:11the area with a firearm um they went in search of the person didn't phone him and there was a homicide
52:17not too long after i'm drawing reference to that to say that um even though we as the police officer
52:25don't mean not we would not be aware that the information may be somewhat malicious yeah but we are
52:31still mandated to treat with the lead and the information because chances are it may be accurate as well
52:38and in the event that something happens and there was no response from the police um of course you
52:46know it would be a case of them if you do them if you don't so it's better that they take these steps
52:51to ensure that there isn't anything there than to leave it alone and something tragic happens right it
52:57is unfortunate two members of the public when you have to go through that but you are not alone
53:03you know the first it won't be the last and of course um even in the execution of the operations
53:10the officers will be courteous they will be respectful and they will do their job as the
53:15professionals we are yeah certainly you know well said uh sergeant because i know there might be
53:22unfortunate uh situations where persons will use their friendships with the police to further their gains
53:29even if uh there's dislike somebody just because they dislike them the police might not be involved
53:34in anything it doesn't even necessarily have to be friendship yeah it could be a case of we have a
53:39dispute um as you rightfully said this is the perfect time to do it with me in a sui so i convince the
53:46officers i don't have to know them yeah that my neighbor or somebody is heavily involved in an activity
53:53um officers may do some surveillance and ironically or coincidentally based on the surveillance
53:59done in my period here this is a good house to hit yeah and it is unfortunate it happens but it's
54:05better that we turn over every stone now we leave a stone unturned and there is an incident all right
54:14so hopefully uh you need that advice caller thanks for your call and uh we just want to share with you
54:20from the children's authority a missing young lady if you've seen emily ali age 17 uh the last time she
54:29was spotted was in the port of spain area and we're asking anyone with information about the whereabouts
54:36of miss emily ali to contact the children's authority at 996 or the police at 999 of course please any
54:46information you have about the whereabouts of emily ali uh please contact those numbers and hopefully
54:53we can get emily back safely home to where that might be sergeant yes um it is alarming the amount of
55:05teenagers we are seeing missing and we're asking them even it's not our child and we should consider
55:12every child in our communities in our nation as ours and we should make every effort to ensure that
55:17these children return home safely again see something say something do not wait until it's
55:23a relative of of yours before we decide to ask for help or to respond yeah i know that captain uh rambach
55:31said that's quite often uh some of the notices that you will see from the children's authorities because
55:38these young ladies or young men have um decided to run away from these homes yes in some instances
55:45it's it's it's a it's sad maybe for one reason or the other we don't know but uh we would like
55:50that these young persons who are who are missing uh return to these homes safely of course no parent
55:57can sleep comfortably knowing that you have no idea so where your child is so let us help them get home
56:03safely yes certainly all right we just want to remind persons of the numbers to contact the farms
56:10department of course if you have any queries about uh your ful uh if it's uh application you want to
56:18put in or there's a application that you have inside already uh the numbers to call 627-5217 extensions
56:2612 410 12 411 12 412 and if you don't want to call the numbers there's also the trinidad and
56:34tobago police website the farms section where you can ask relevant questions or put in on questions that
56:41you think you need answered if you're applying or if you have an application inside sergeant greenage
56:47one minute you're all yours all right so again we're asking i started on this mantra we all saw the
56:53results of september in terms of homicides we are asking the public continue to partner with us in
56:59this fight against crime let us have a month with no homicides and with the largest cashier weapons ever
57:07recovered right that's what we're hoping for and we can only do it with your help the help of the
57:12entire citizenry of trinidad and tobago we're asking you to be mindful of where conduct your transactions
57:18please let us have one month without an incident of that yes certainly you know because uh every we
57:26we tend to get that it it cup it crops up in in batches sometimes it might happen sporadically and
57:32then you get five or six within a week or a week and a half period so please be mindful of what sergeant
57:39is just telling you do not go and buy or sell things in areas you don't know please try to contact or go to
57:46the nearest police station all right remember we run tonight at 11 30 another repeat tomorrow at 11 am
57:55the tv6 news is up next and remember we will see you back here tomorrow at six have a great one
