00:00Okay, I know a new rule.
00:11Do not go out like Zulema.
00:12That's the rule.
00:13Do not go out like Zulema.
00:15A couple days ago, Zulema took my model,
00:17and it just put a lot of tension,
00:20not just with myself and Zulema,
00:22but as well as the other designers,
00:23when she was eliminated.
00:24I sort of was relieved, in a way.
00:27In my head, Zulema has never been in my face.
00:30And so I wasn't surprised that she was out,
00:33because her garment was the worst.
00:34It was poorly fitted, it was poorly sewn.
00:37Being one of the last six has been a nice surprise.
00:40I think you did something very literal.
00:44I'm like pinching myself again.
00:50Hello.
00:51Hi, Heidi.
00:53Are you ready for your next challenge?
00:54Yes.
00:56You will be making an outfit for a garden party.
01:00Tomorrow, Tim will take you shopping
01:03and fill you in on all the details.
01:06Let's bring out the winning and losing designers models.
01:19Models, this also is a competition for you as well.
01:22The model, the model paired with a winner of Project Runway,
01:25will get a fashion spread in Elle magazine.
01:28Daniel, you were the winner of the last challenge.
01:31Your model was Rebecca.
01:33And if you decide to stay with her,
01:35Tara will be out.
01:37If you decide not to choose either of these two,
01:40I will bring out all the models for you to pick from.
01:43What do you want to do?
01:44Unfortunately, things have worked out for the way they are
01:47and I've made great friends with Tara
01:49and I think she's a great model.
01:51But I'm going to stay with Rebecca.
01:53She's been an angel to me.
01:56Congratulations.
01:58You're in.
02:00Thanks.
02:01Thank you, David.
02:02Bye.
02:02Bye.
02:03Tara, I'm sorry you're out.
02:07I'll see you soon.
02:10Bye.
02:11I love you.
02:15That one really hit me hard.
02:17It was emotional.
02:18You know, it was emotional
02:19because I really, really love her very much
02:21and she was so kind and almost looked up to me.
02:28What just happened?
02:29Yeah.
02:29You know, she's gone.
02:33You have your models.
02:35You have your challenge.
02:35I'll see you back here on the runway.
02:38Bye.
02:38Bye.
02:47You guys, I have an idea.
02:48Oh, my God.
02:48What?
02:49A penthouse.
02:50Roof.
02:50Yeah, roof.
02:51Let's go to the roof.
02:54So, 35 and we're still intact.
02:56I know.
02:56I'm trying to grab me.
02:58Yeah.
02:59Oh.
03:00Even though we're all,
03:02hey, we're all friends and everything,
03:04there's a definite competitive vibe
03:06because I think we sort of know
03:08that we are each other's competition.
03:11Six designers left, three to go.
03:14It's hardcore now.
03:15I'm not gonna be happy
03:17until I'm the winner.
03:19It's kind of shocking that there was not more girls left,
03:28you know?
03:28But Cara and I are here because we have proven
03:31that we are talented designers.
03:33So I hope Cara or I will make it to the final three.
03:36There should be one woman in there.
03:37Good night, child boy.
03:38Good night, child boy.
03:40Good night, child boy.
03:40Good night, child boy.
03:41Good morning.
03:57Good morning, Sam.
03:59Tim Gunn's here.
04:00Tim Gunn.
04:01Oh.
04:03So what are you doing here?
04:05We're taking a field trip.
04:06Oh, what?
04:07Heidi mentioned garden party.
04:10You know, I've heard of those fabulous
04:12Park Avenue apartments
04:13where people actually have gardens,
04:15but I had no idea.
04:16All right, thank you.
04:17I'm gonna go wake up the girls.
04:24Is someone out on the door?
04:28Good morning.
04:29Good morning, Tim.
04:30How are you, Chloe?
04:31Good.
04:32So get your stuff together
04:33and meet me downstairs in about five minutes.
04:35Okay.
04:36Oh, that's cool.
04:36Well, we get a trip with Tim again.
04:38Yeah.
04:38That'll be fun.
04:39So I'll see you downstairs.
04:40Okay.
04:45I didn't know where we would go.
04:47I thought, oh, maybe we're going to the Tavern on the Green
04:50or something because I've been dying to get to Central Park.
04:53When Tim was taking us down the street,
04:55I was thinking, you know,
04:56there's no fabric stores really in this area.
04:59What has he got planned?
05:00Heidi delivered your challenge,
05:10which is to design an outfit for a garden party.
05:13And where better to shop for this challenge
05:15than the Flower District,
05:17where we are right now?
05:19My mouth just dropped.
05:20I'm like, oh, my God, I don't want to deal with this.
05:22My brain was, like, thinking really fast,
05:24like, how am I going to do what I'm going to pick?
05:25You have three destinations here, the plant house,
05:29Fisher and Page, which is right across the street,
05:32and Jamali, which is just down the block.
05:34We have $100 and an hour to shop,
05:37so use your time strategically,
05:39think very creatively about your designs,
05:42and make it work.
05:43I just dreaded it.
05:44Of course, the whole time I was like...
05:47But really, I was like, oh, dear Lord.
05:50I had to stay long enough for the damn flower,
05:54make a dress out of flower.
05:55Task.
05:57All right, off you go.
06:04We had three different stores to choose from,
06:06so I went to Jamali first
06:08because they had the actual construction tools
06:11to engineer flowers.
06:13I don't know.
06:14I don't know what I need right now.
06:16I was a little perplexed.
06:18I'm like, God, what do you get?
06:20What do you get?
06:20What do you get?
06:21You know, how are we going to put this together?
06:22Oh.
06:25I was looking for things that would be bendable.
06:31I thought they could bend.
06:32You didn't see that.
06:33Things that would last,
06:35but I had no idea what I was going to make.
06:38I spent $70 at the florist supply store.
06:47I got some mesh and things to kind of build into the construction
06:51of whatever garment I was going to make.
06:53I didn't want to deal with anything really delicate,
07:01so, you know, I chose leaves
07:03because I knew at least we'll stay alive
07:05at least for a day.
07:07Right now, I only have $65 left to spend.
07:11I know.
07:11You're in trouble.
07:12I know.
07:13Wow, flowers are expensive.
07:15Only good ones.
07:16Right.
07:18I worked in a florist when I was a kid.
07:21So I don't feel like I'm in the deep end of the swimming pool.
07:24Andre, 30 minutes.
07:25Brilliant.
07:26I'm done.
07:27You're done?
07:27I'm finished, and I'm waiting for everybody else.
07:34I don't know what my idea is yet,
07:35but I'm kind of buying flowers
07:37that will add more flower to the structure.
07:41For $30, if I could get that ficus,
07:44a small one of these,
07:46and, like, a small one of these.
07:48They sold me three plants for $30.
07:51I love plant house.
07:53All right, you're done.
07:54Nick's done.
07:54Andre's done.
07:55And Cara's done.
07:58We have five minutes.
08:00What are you going to do?
08:01Just these two.
08:02Seven bucks.
08:03Almost every penny spent.
08:06What ribbon can I get for $5?
08:08Where did Chloe go?
08:09You should go back to Jamali.
08:11Oh, this is $4.99.
08:13I'm done.
08:14I'm done.
08:18Back to the workroom.
08:25Thank you, Tanner.
08:26You're welcome.
08:33Did I get enough?
08:34I hope so.
08:35I bought five bushels of this leaves thing
08:38that I'm going to individually place
08:40each leaf on top of each other,
08:42so it's going to look like a cascaded print.
08:44Two.
08:45Oh, here it is, number three.
08:46I've won three challenges now.
08:48Obviously, the judges like what I'm doing,
08:50and so whatever I'm doing,
08:52I'm just going to keep doing
08:53because it seems that it's working.
08:55So hopefully that's enough
08:56to get me to top three.
08:57You actually have the most wins so far.
09:00I've only been doing fashion design
09:01for three years.
09:02Pretty darn good at it.
09:04I've just graduated from college,
09:05so my biggest weakness as a designer
09:07is actual industry experience.
09:10You're pretty good at everything you do, huh?
09:12That's kind of sick, Daniel.
09:13I tried to play basketball once.
09:15Uh-huh.
09:15That didn't work out very well.
09:16Okay, everybody, can you gather around?
09:23Mm-hmm.
09:25I have a very nice announcement.
09:28The winner of this challenge
09:30has immunity for the next challenge.
09:33Oh.
09:34Yeah!
09:35It's a big incentive.
09:37Oh, that's huge.
09:38It's a very nice.
09:39It's huge.
09:40So really...
09:41Make it work.
09:43Make it work.
09:44I'd really like to win this one
09:46because I'd really like to know
09:47that I've made it to the last four.
09:49That has become my new goal
09:51is to just get to the last four
09:53and then let, you know, God sort it out.
09:55So let's get back to work.
09:57You have until midnight tonight.
09:59Okay.
09:59And that's it.
10:00I'll be back in a few hours.
10:03Okay.
10:03All right?
10:04Carry on.
10:05Mm-hmm.
10:06Why don't I buy more flowers?
10:12I don't think I can play it safe.
10:14I think I've got to pull out all the stops.
10:16It's a do or die for me, I think.
10:19It would be great to win first place on this one
10:22because then I could do something really offensive
10:25for the next challenge and not be penalized for it.
10:28And that's what I'm really hoping to do.
10:31Oh.
10:32Coming up on Project Runway.
10:34She would expect this to hold up just as the material.
10:37No, no, no, no, no.
10:38Designers, make it work.
10:40Carry on.
10:42Santino, I want to hear more.
10:43Oh, God.
10:45Bye.
10:52First off, the florist saw it work.
10:55My design is just a summer dress
10:57that's wrapped across in the front with straps
11:00and it's going to look like this cool textural print
11:03that if you look far away, you really can't tell
11:05that it's actually made of leaves.
11:07I'm braiding raffia.
11:09It's a fakey-looking, grassy thing.
11:13I have no idea right now what I'm going to be using.
11:16Now I've got a pile of green.
11:18And the only thing I want to do with it is smoke it,
11:20to show you the truth.
11:22I'm making an outfit consisting of a tropical leaf,
11:27a ficus tree, and some type of fern.
11:29I want to do something really pretty
11:32and sophisticated and sexy,
11:34but also definitely whimsical.
11:37The ferns that I purchased,
11:39I'm using for the entire bottom of the skirt,
11:41and then the flowers will be surrounding the bust line.
11:45It's just kind of opening up and cascading.
11:48I chose a lot of dead or half-dead things
11:51or things that would die beautifully.
11:53I got a couple bags of Spanish moss,
11:55baby's breath, and dried lavender.
11:57My actual project is like a little topiary dress,
12:00kind of reminiscent of late 50s haute couture
12:03and, like, also a French garden.
12:08My design was this fitted bodice with a bustier
12:13and then a full skirt.
12:15That would be the foundation for it,
12:16and then I would put the flowers, the plants,
12:18everything on it.
12:19Hi, everybody.
12:21Hello.
12:22Can I interrupt you briefly?
12:24Mm-hmm.
12:24I'd like to walk around to see what you're doing.
12:26Okay.
12:26Okay?
12:27Hi, Chloe.
12:28So how are you doing?
12:29I'm still working on my complete design,
12:32but I'm going to put the skirt down
12:33and do the whole skirt
12:34and see what I want to do with the top.
12:36Okay.
12:37You're going to bring all those petals into the sewing machine?
12:40I think it's fine.
12:41Look, this is not going away.
12:42It hasn't just been, like, a few hours.
12:44But it just happened?
12:48Mm-hmm.
12:49This can't happen on the runway.
12:50Oh, no, I know.
12:51I'm going to check it.
12:52I'm going to make sure that it won't fall off.
12:54It sounds very ambitious.
12:55It's not that ambitious.
12:57I'm confident.
12:58I'm going to glue this baby like no tomorrow,
12:59so it's going to be okay.
13:00All right, do it.
13:02I don't know what the rest is.
13:04I don't know where I'm going,
13:05but this has been so long.
13:06Wait a minute.
13:06That doesn't give me...
13:07That doesn't...
13:08I don't want to walk away from you
13:09with your saying,
13:10I know where I'm going.
13:11Tim, it's really just happening organically.
13:13It's happening organically.
13:14My skirt is unresolved.
13:16That's what I'm wearing.
13:16All right, well, as you're working,
13:18resolve these issues as soon as you can.
13:22So all this fern is yours, Daniel?
13:24Yes, it is.
13:25Wow.
13:26As are those gorgeous flowers.
13:29And then here,
13:30I'd love to do a small basket weave,
13:31but the fact is, realistically,
13:33it's only a few inches wide.
13:35Okay.
13:36I mean, it's four inches.
13:37I can do that relatively simple.
13:39It's time.
13:40It is time.
13:43Nick.
13:44Wow.
13:44I wasn't expecting that.
13:47Were you expecting to use the stones?
13:49No, I wasn't.
13:50And I just wanted to utilize what I have
13:52since I don't have that much.
13:53I spent everything down to, like,
13:55I think a dollar.
13:57And I didn't really get much.
13:59Do you have enough material
14:00to really do all this?
14:03Right.
14:03Yeah, I might not...
14:04It might be rather short.
14:07I do think the length may be determined
14:10by how much you have.
14:11Exactly.
14:12Yeah.
14:13I think so, too.
14:13It may become a micro-mini.
14:17Look at this.
14:19You know, I wanted to go with plants
14:20more so than flowers,
14:22just because I didn't want to run into
14:23the situation flowers don't last.
14:26I guess I just see these being so powerful,
14:29it makes me question why all the form here.
14:32But it's up to you.
14:33Yeah, I'm just playing.
14:33Yeah, I'm just playing with this right now.
14:35Okay.
14:36Keep working.
14:37All right, thanks, Tim.
14:39Where's Andre?
14:40What happened to Andre?
14:41Andre?
14:41Where is Andre?
14:45I think he's outside.
14:47Okay.
14:47He's outside.
14:50I was upstairs asking,
14:52what happened to Andre?
14:53What happened to Andre?
14:54Make it work.
14:56Make it work.
14:57I've been down here
14:58turning these into grass.
14:59Designers, designers,
15:01look out for Andre.
15:02He's our little lamb, okay?
15:05To expect this to hold up
15:06just as the material,
15:08it's not possible.
15:09Carry on.
15:10Carry on.
15:11No, this is going to take forever.
15:26I knew that was going to take a long time.
15:29I just didn't estimate
15:30how long it would take.
15:32Oh, my God!
15:33This is taking forever.
15:37Okay, can I ask,
15:38did y'all just come out to your parents?
15:41I just came out to my parents a year ago.
15:43You just came out,
15:44like a year ago.
15:45Two parents.
15:46Yeah.
15:46That makes sense back in my day,
15:48but, you know,
15:49but, like,
15:50that was, like,
15:51the rent-a-date
15:51with the Catholic high school
15:53because I could dance,
15:55I could dress well.
15:5620 years later,
15:5720 years later,
15:57they're like,
15:57why didn't we figure it out?
15:59I grew up in Michigan.
16:01It's Bible,
16:01like, it's still the Bible Belt.
16:02I grew up in a really strict Christian family.
16:05Wow, Daniel,
16:06I didn't know.
16:08It was hard, of course.
16:09Yeah.
16:10To be labeled a fag
16:11in an upper-middle-class white America
16:13was difficult,
16:14but everyone has been very supportive.
16:16I have made some really good friends,
16:18and that helped me grow
16:19into the person that I am today.
16:21There's certain things you're going to get in a guy,
16:23and certain things you're going to get in a girl,
16:24and my ex-girlfriend doesn't know.
16:26What?
16:27Really?
16:27Oh, so you had girlfriend?
16:28Oh, yeah.
16:29That's my fear,
16:30is to date a gay guy.
16:31Yeah, you're extra special.
16:31Your biggest fear
16:33is to date a gay guy?
16:34For real?
16:35It's funny.
16:36It's definitely funny.
16:38Will you please do Tim again,
16:40but create more?
16:42Andre,
16:42I always have to start
16:44my sentences with Andre.
16:46It gets me into the character.
16:48I say,
16:48Andre,
16:49you really embarrassed me tonight
16:51at Red Lobster.
16:51There's already a big age difference, Andre,
16:54and you acting like a big baby
16:57and throwing a plate of lobster
16:59in my lap at dinner
17:00is not appropriate.
17:03I just kind of created
17:05this little story in my head
17:06that, you know,
17:07Tim and Andre had this romance going.
17:10Andre,
17:11I still think we can make it work.
17:13Why are Tim Gunn and I together
17:16in your sick, twisted world?
17:19Andre is laughing along with it.
17:21I'm a little bit like,
17:22oh my God,
17:23does Tim Gunn know about this joke
17:25between him and Andre?
17:26If we continue to fight
17:27in front of my colleagues
17:28at Red Lobster,
17:29we're going to have to break up.
17:32They've gone through
17:32the honeymoon period,
17:34and now they get into
17:35these little squabbles
17:37at Red Lobster.
17:38We're going to try
17:38to make this work.
17:41You and me.
17:42Let's make it work.
17:43Is there anyone out there
17:45like Santino in the world?
17:48I don't think so.
17:50And if there is,
17:51don't call me, please,
17:52because one is enough.
18:01So what's the skirt?
18:02I don't know.
18:03What do you think you don't know?
18:04I don't know.
18:05Really?
18:05I really don't know.
18:07But Kari,
18:08you have three hours.
18:09Well, work it out.
18:10It's really important.
18:12Really critically important.
18:14Really important.
18:17But all this has to go away.
18:19Yeah, yeah.
18:20All of it.
18:21Right.
18:22The skirt's got to work.
18:23Yes, I know, I know, I know.
18:25Yeah.
18:26Okay.
18:28I love the look.
18:29Do you have enough of this?
18:30For this?
18:31That's the other issue.
18:32Oh, God.
18:33I know.
18:33So I'm working my way.
18:35I'm just working my way.
18:36And if not, then...
18:38Short one.
18:38Exactly.
18:39So where are you?
18:41Oh, God.
18:42I don't know.
18:43I'll be honest.
18:44I don't know.
18:45I'm gluing like a mad woman.
18:46Watch your time.
18:48I know.
18:49I'm going to have to throw something on.
18:51I know.
18:52No, you are.
18:52I know.
18:53You really are.
18:56Andre!
18:58Look at...
18:59I know.
18:59It's really messy.
19:00Look at this flotsam and jetsam.
19:02It looks like I did yard work.
19:04Yeah.
19:05I'm really happy.
19:06It's still...
19:06And it's still functional, too.
19:08And, like, I put a zipper in it.
19:11You do have a zipper?
19:12I actually sewed it like it was a real dress.
19:14And I lost a lot of grass.
19:16You have to fill in with some more stuff.
19:17Yeah, I know.
19:18In certain places.
19:19Yeah.
19:19All right.
19:22Carry on.
19:23All right.
19:24Santino.
19:26What happened to Andre?
19:28What happened to Andre?
19:29I want to hear more.
19:32I understand you're doing a devastating impersonation.
19:39And I want to hear it.
19:40Oh, my God.
19:41Tim.
19:43Oh, no.
19:43You're going to make me...
19:44Oh, my God.
19:46He's confronting him.
19:48Today, you know, we've been talking.
19:51And I'm just, like, talking in your voice.
19:54What have I been saying?
19:55You and Andre go to Red Lobster.
19:59Andre and I go to Red Lobster?
20:01Yeah.
20:02And then you guys get into an argument.
20:04And then you're like, Andre, stop doing this.
20:08Every time we have a little tiff, you go and run in the bathroom.
20:13What happened to Andre?
20:14It's all you do now.
20:15What happened to your own mind?
20:18I'm sorry, Tim.
20:19You know it's with love.
20:21No, no, I do know.
20:22And I love you back.
20:23Thanks.
20:23Thanks, Tim.
20:24All right.
20:27All right.
20:28I'm verklempt.
20:31I think it's probably the one time when anyone has ever made Santino blush
20:36and really kind of put him in his place in a really funny way.
20:46We have to be done by 12 o'clock, and I'm close,
20:49but I definitely think that there's a lot more fantastic possibilities
20:53that I could put into this thing.
20:57I didn't have a lot of leaves to fill in the skirt,
21:00so I'm just basically going to cut it off at this level,
21:03so all that's going to be gone.
21:05So it'll be a mini dress all wrapped around.
21:07Oh, my God.
21:08Oh, my God.
21:12Oh, my God.
21:13What the hell am I going to do?
21:13I'm so not done.
21:18I've sprayed it thoroughly with shellac.
21:21Can you smell?
21:25I'm sending a bush down the road.
21:28My dress is not done at all.
21:36It's time management, and I did not manage my time well this time.
21:42Coming up on Project Runway.
21:44Chloe, I'm looking at this.
21:45You need tons of time.
21:46You need an extra set of hands.
21:47I know.
21:48You know what?
21:48Sometimes you just can't finish it,
21:50and I'm not going to blame anybody.
21:51I just didn't have enough time.
22:01I felt very close to being out on the last challenge.
22:05I really want to just kind of get through another challenge.
22:09Naturally, winning would be nice.
22:12I think I'd just sleep the day away because I'm immune.
22:16If I won this challenge,
22:18I would be taking away the immunity
22:20from somebody who doesn't deserve to be in that room
22:23because there's people that need to go home.
22:26I always try to put 110% into each challenge.
22:30I came to New York to be in the top three, if not win.
22:33I don't think any of us is going home today,
22:35so this is a nice thing.
22:36I doubt.
22:38I think all of the...
22:39Somebody has to.
22:40I know, but all the 35D projects look really good.
22:43Chloe has a lot to cover.
22:45You can't leave spaces in between.
22:48Did you see how she started doing that?
22:49You can't do that.
22:51Honestly, it could be any of us.
22:52It could be anybody.
22:53We'll see.
22:53I'm not going home, though.
22:55It's not me.
22:57How are you feeling about your garment today?
22:59I'm kind of nervous.
23:00It's not done at all.
23:01You'll get it done.
23:02I'm not nervous.
23:03I'm going to speed it up.
23:04I'm going to have an hour.
23:05I'm going to finish that sucker.
23:07That's how I think.
23:08They can do it.
23:09I can do it.
23:17My dress was fine.
23:19That one leaf wilted because I treated all the leaves before I left for the evening.
23:24I can't stop worrying about the damn skirt.
23:29Stop worrying about the damn skirt.
23:30Just a big spot.
23:31Just a big spot.
23:32You know, bottom line, I guess that's the design.
23:34You've got to be happy with your design.
23:35It might not be finished, but I'm happy with it.
23:38Good morning, everybody.
23:39Good morning, Tim.
23:40Our theme this morning is don't stop working.
23:44Just keep going.
23:45You have a ton of stuff to do.
23:46Your models are coming in in a minute.
23:48Send them down to the Theresa May Hair Salon and to the L'Oreal Paris Makeup Room alone.
23:53Just give them instructions.
23:54Stay here.
23:56Use the Banana Republic Accessory Wall.
23:58Use it very strategically.
24:00It's 945.
24:01You have until noon.
24:03Chloe, I'm looking at this.
24:04You need tons of time.
24:05You need an extra set of hands.
24:07I know.
24:08So you have about two hours just work like there's no tomorrow because for one of you, there won't be.
24:16Hello, everybody.
24:17Hi, Grace.
24:18You know, I go hair and makeup first and then come back and help me if I'm not done.
24:22There's your instruction.
24:24There wasn't going to be time for me to go visit the hair and makeup people, so we came up with this sort of crown to sort of finalize the whole outfit together.
24:33It's going to be itchy.
24:35Tell them to give you, like, big hair but curly at fresh Park Avenue.
24:39I need fresh Park Avenue, not stuffy Park Avenue.
24:42Yeah.
24:47I thought, okay, for hair and makeup this time, I'll go a little bit further out.
24:53I put a bunch of leaves in her hair, almost like a skull cap.
25:02I'm very, very worried about finishing.
25:05You can only do so much with the time that we have.
25:07And you know what?
25:08Sometimes you just can't finish it.
25:09And I'm not going to blame anybody, you know, saying, I'm sorry, I didn't have enough time.
25:13It's just, I just didn't have enough time.
25:16Chloe, I'm coming to help you, babe.
25:17Yeah.
25:17Right before the runway show, I glued on all the blue flowers, so there was a lot of work that had to be done.
25:34And the empty space was glued in for me.
25:36I'm going to make the bell.
25:37I'm going to make you stop me so you're busy, babe.
25:39There's four men to two women at the moment, and Chloe and I, we're kind of really spurring each other on to get to the top three.
25:45We have to have a woman representing.
25:51You're going to tell me I'm hot dressed or something.
25:54Do you need to work with yours?
25:56Go ahead.
25:57Go ahead.
25:58I'm fine.
25:59Are you?
26:00Yeah.
26:00Okay, good.
26:01Thank you so much.
26:02I'm a walking bush.
26:11You're a walking bush.
26:13These are not comfortable.
26:14It feels so weird.
26:16For me, it was a great achievement.
26:18I was like, ooh, I'm kind of good at this.
26:20And to be honest, looking around, everybody's garden dress looked amazing.
26:24I was like, wow, this is going to be a hard one.
26:26Who's going to go?
26:28Okay, designers and models, this is it.
26:31We're ready to go, so follow me.
26:34We're going now.
26:36I didn't finish it, but, you know, hopefully they like it.
26:44Coming up on Project Runway.
26:47I am a little bit surprised that you guys didn't use more flowers.
26:51It's stiff.
26:52I mean, let's be honest.
26:53She looks like a doormat.
26:58Hello.
26:59Hi.
26:59Hi.
27:00Welcome to the runway.
27:03As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day you might be out.
27:07There are six of you now, and after tonight, there will be only five left.
27:12This challenge is about innovation.
27:15We asked you to design an outfit for a garden party, using flowers and plants as your materials.
27:21Let's meet the judges.
27:22The fabulous Michael Kors, king of jet-set American style, fashion director Nina Garcia of Elle magazine,
27:32and design team Mark Badgley and James Mischka.
27:37We will be judging your designs as they come down the runway.
27:40One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
27:45Rebecca looks very sophisticated, very elegant, and I love the fact that almost from far away,
28:04it wouldn't look like plants, which I think is very important because we're not costume designers,
28:09we're fashion designers.
28:10When I saw the look coming down the runway, I was like, I hope to God it doesn't come apart.
28:24I was just sort of going, God, I hope one of those plants doesn't fall off the dress.
28:39I feel pretty good about my petal leave dress.
28:42This has the effect that I was looking for.
28:44I didn't have the complete effect because I ran out of time.
28:54I pray the whole time I'm sitting there that everything stays together.
29:01I mean, I can just imagine, like, one huge panel off the skirt just falling off.
29:14My dress is really cute and chic and very, very French.
29:18Like the topiary French cotton.
29:24I feel so completely confident with this garment.
29:36It's executed beautifully.
29:38It looks beautiful.
29:39It's exactly where I wanted to go.
29:54Designers, we've tallied your scores.
30:04I'm going to keep all of you guys on the runway.
30:07Let's bring out your models.
30:09I thought that we all were going to buy, like, petals of roses and kind of, like, sew all the rose petals together.
30:28It just surprised me that everything is so green, you know?
30:30Green is the new black.
30:31Yeah.
30:32I'm just going to start with Nick and ask our guest judges, Mark and James, if they have some questions about your outfit.
30:40Why don't you think you used more color?
30:42There's so much green everywhere.
30:44That's how it turned out to be when I went to the floral shop.
30:47I was just picking out greens without realizing.
30:49I was actually picking out plants that would be bendable.
30:53And it just evolved.
30:54I let the plants and what I had sort of transform themselves as I worked with them.
30:59I am a little bit surprised that you guys didn't use more flowers.
31:03I mean, it's color.
31:05It's beautiful.
31:06It's so inspirational.
31:09You didn't really go for that.
31:11Right.
31:11I also, I know I've been doing a lot of, like, Paris Sulton goes on a resort.
31:17I just wanted to stray away from what you might expect of me.
31:24I don't know.
31:25To me, it's not sophisticated.
31:27Okay.
31:30Chloe.
31:31This one looks to me like it almost took the most time.
31:34It's very cloth-like.
31:36It's beautiful.
31:36It's light.
31:37It looks like it's the most wearable.
31:38I think it's great.
31:40When we give you a project, I like the end result.
31:44I think you put a lot of thought into it.
31:46It looks very beautiful.
31:47It's very professional looking.
31:50And in a strange, weird way.
31:53Very wearable.
31:54It's a lot of work.
31:56Kara.
31:58I think this is the best fit dress up here.
32:00I think it's beautiful.
32:02It looks like it's built on a little pristine corset.
32:05And I thought that raffia work in the back was amazing.
32:09It's a lot of texture.
32:10I think it's great.
32:11I really do.
32:11I think it's beautiful.
32:13I think you definitely used the materials.
32:18You used texture.
32:19You kept your eye sort of involved.
32:23And I think that you went wild in the flower market and grabbed interesting, different things and used them in a different, interesting way.
32:33You had fun with it.
32:34Andrรฉ.
32:35Andrรฉ.
32:36Andrรฉ.
32:37What are the materials on this dress?
32:40What is it actually made out of?
32:42What is it made out of?
32:42It's made of Spanish moss and raffia.
32:45And the purple flowers are lavender and then baby's breath.
32:49I think if you're going to do something simple, I think, number one, you have to care about the fit.
32:55I think that the way that the dress jumps away from her body in the front is very odd.
33:01I think the other thing is that it's stiff and it's not joyous.
33:08And she looks a little, I mean, let's be honest, if you use that much moss, she looks like a doormat.
33:12I think it could have had a little more personality.
33:15It's a little flat.
33:19The next designer I want to continue with is Daniel.
33:22I think this one's great.
33:23I think it's adorable.
33:25I love it.
33:26I love it.
33:26It has a lot of color in it compared to the other ones.
33:28I love the proportion.
33:29It's like a little waspy garden party dress.
33:32I think it's very charming.
33:34The inspiration did come from a waspy little very charming garden party dress.
33:39I wanted something that could translate from a 20-year-old, which could be more whimsical, to a 50-year-old that could still be very practical.
33:46I love to see the flowers.
33:47I think that you sprinkled them in the bottom.
33:51It looks beautiful.
33:52I am crazy about the basket weave that you did on the bodice.
33:56It looks great.
33:57It's adorable.
33:58Thank you so much.
33:58Thank you so much.
34:01Santino.
34:02Unfortunately, to me, some of the vegetation gets a little plasticky or waxy looking, and it starts to look a little synthetic-y, I think, with the crinoline.
34:12Right.
34:13There, I would have loved some beautiful, beautiful, colorful flowers to maybe soften what it is.
34:20Did you do something to the leaves to make it more plastic?
34:23Yes.
34:24I sprayed them, um, to preserve the color.
34:27The shine of it makes it look very plastic.
34:30Right.
34:31And it robs it from its natural feeling.
34:35Right.
34:37I have no problem with it being shiny.
34:39Because you're German.
34:40It's nice when they're...
34:41Maybe your plants at home need some dusting off, but I like it when they're shiny.
34:46Okay, we heard what you had to say.
34:51We're going to have a little chat, and then I'm going to call you back onto the runway.
34:57You can leave the runway.
35:07Definitely there were problems today.
35:09Because we all wanted to see, like, big flower dresses, but I think everyone saw Austin's thing last time and saw it, like, shrink and triple-it and nothing.
35:15So they were all afraid of that, I think.
35:17Personally, I like Cara, I like Chloe, and I like Daniel.
35:21For me, it's, like, between the three of them, I thought they did, like, the best job.
35:25I thought Daniel's dress was, first off, a really wearable, chic, but still at the same time charming.
35:33It wasn't old.
35:34Um, great-looking dress that looked like a real dress, a real garment.
35:38And he's got a really meticulous eye.
35:40Daniel really captured the spirit of the project, I think.
35:43He pushed it, it was impeccable.
35:45I liked it very much.
35:49Chloe's dress, if someone would be wearing that in a party and it wouldn't be as bright, it probably would look like fabric.
35:56Oh, totally.
35:56Yeah, it's not as obvious that it's, like, a bush.
35:59You know, she really thinks about a woman's body, so that's a great thing.
36:05Cara's, I thought, was fantastic.
36:07I really liked it, I thought it was very flirty, very feminine.
36:11She used texture.
36:12She really used texture in a big way, so that's very admirable.
36:16It was floral and texture and, yeah.
36:21Both Nick and Andre were my lowest scores.
36:24He can never really explain why he made the garment in a logical way.
36:31I think it was, he's saying he's trying to get away from Paris Hilton, but that was the most Paris Hilton thing I've seen on this whole show, by far.
36:38It's hard to make leaves look vulgar.
36:40But, I mean, there's a little bit of vulgarity, I think, in everything he does.
36:47Andre, to me it was boring.
36:49It was like a moss dress with a bit of fringe on the end and a fringe up top.
36:53Yes, it was dull, but you could see it was Audrey Hepburn, and he thought about it.
36:58But she looked, like, so stiff in it.
37:00I didn't, I didn't see the creativity in it.
37:06Santino.
37:07I think he needs to think a little bit more about the woman.
37:11He's thinking about wearable art.
37:13It's how do you balance someone who's creative and talented, which he is, but with caring about dressing real people.
37:23All right, let's call them back out.
37:32There are six of you now on the runway.
37:35One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
37:40Santino.
37:51There are six of you now on the runway.
37:54One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
38:06Santino.
38:06You're in.
38:11You can leave the runway.
38:25Kara.
38:28You're in.
38:30You can leave the runway.
38:31I thought my outfit was the front runner.
38:36The detailing on the dress, which I worked hard at achieving, the judges really recognized.
38:43So, thanks, guys.
38:45And now for the winner of this challenge.
38:52Congratulations.
38:53Daniel, you're the winner of this challenge.
38:57I think it's fantastic that you used flowers.
39:01That means you have immunity for the next challenge, and you cannot be out.
39:06Congratulations.
39:07Thank you very much.
39:08You can leave the runway.
39:10Hearing my name called as the winner is, of course, a very great feeling.
39:13But as happy as I am, my heart does still go out to the designer that's leaving.
39:19That's four.
39:25Chloe.
39:27You're in.
39:28You can leave the runway.
39:29Thank you very much.
39:30There are two of you left.
39:45One of you will be in, and one of you will be out.
39:54Andre.
39:55Yes.
39:55Apart from the poor fit, you were not innovative enough, it did not make enough of a statement.
40:08Nick, I know you were trying to restrain yourself on this one, but at the same time, we thought
40:15that your taste level wasn't there.
40:21Nick.
40:23You're in.
40:24You can leave the runway.
40:33Oh, shut up.
40:35Only one person's allowed to cry on the runway.
40:38Heaven's sake.
40:42Andre, that means you're out.
40:44I know.
40:44I know.
40:45I know.
40:48Thanks.
40:52Thanks.
40:52Thanks.
40:54Here I am at the end of the line, I guess.
41:01When I was in the competition, I felt like I was this angel, and I kind of floated above
41:06the street.
41:06And now I just feel like I'm walking on the ground like everybody else, and that's kind
41:10of tough.
41:11Hi, everybody.
41:12Hi.
41:13Hi.
41:14Hi.
41:15Andre.
41:16An extremely strong showing, but somebody had to be out.
41:19Right.
