01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.

05:21Their bodies are strong and well fed.
05:24They are immune to the common trouble to men.
05:27They do not suffer as other men do.
05:31Arrogance is their necklace, and violence covers them like clothing.
05:36Their prosperity causes them to do wrong, and their thoughts are sinful.

05:46They proudly threaten violence.
05:49They speak as if they rule in heaven, and lay claim to the earth.
05:55Therefore, they have more than enough food to eat, and even suck up the water of the sea.
06:01They say, how does God know what we do?
06:05Is the Most High aware of what goes on?
06:10Take a good look.
06:12This is what the wicked are like.
06:15Those who always have it so easy, and get richer and richer.
06:20I concluded, surely in vain I have kept my motives pure, and maintained a pure lifestyle.
06:29I suffer all day long, and I am punished every morning.
06:35If I had publicized these thoughts, I would have betrayed your people.
06:40And when I tried to make sense of this, it was troubling to me.
06:47Then I entered the precincts of God's temple, and I understood the destiny of the wicked.
06:55Surely you put them in slippery places, and you bring them down to ruin.
07:01How desolate they become in a mere moment.
07:05Terrifying judgments make their demise complete.
07:10They are like a dream after one wakes up.
07:13O Lord, when you awake, you will despise them.
07:18Yes, my spirit was bitter, and my insides felt sharp pain.
07:24I was ignorant, and lacked insight.
07:27I was as senseless as an animal before you.
07:32But I am continually with you.
07:34You hold my right hand.
07:37You guide me by your wise advice, and then you will lead me to a position of honor.
07:43Whom do I have in heaven but you?
07:46I desire no one but you on earth.
07:50My flesh and my heart may grow weak, but God always protects my heart and gives me stability.
07:58Yes, look, those far from you die.
08:01You destroy everyone who is unfaithful to you.
08:06But as for me, God's presence is all I need.

08:34Why, O God, have you permanently rejected us?
08:38Why does your anger burn against the sheep of your pasture?
08:46Remember your people, whom you acquired in ancient times,
08:49whom you rescued, so that they could be your very own nation, as well as Mount Zion, where you dwell.
08:58Hurry to the permanent ruins, and to all the damage the enemy has done to the temple.
09:05Your enemies roar in the middle of your sanctuary.
09:09They set up their battle flags.
09:11They invade like lumberjacks, swinging their axes in a thick forest.
09:17And now they are tearing down all its engravings with axes and crowbars.
09:23They set your sanctuary on fire.
09:26They desecrate your dwelling place by knocking it to the ground.
09:32They say to themselves, we will oppress all of them.
09:37They burn down all the places where people worship God in the land.
09:43We do not see any signs of God's presence.
09:46There are no longer any prophets.
09:48And we have no one to tell us how long this will last.
09:53How long, O God, will the adversary hurl insults?
09:57Will the enemy blaspheme your name forever?
10:02Why do you remain inactive, intervene and destroy him?
10:09But God has been my King from ancient times,
10:12performing acts of deliverance on the earth.
10:16You destroyed the sea by your strength.
10:19You shattered the heads of the sea monster in the water.

10:52Remember how the enemy hurls insults, O Lord,

11:01Do not hand the life of your dove over to a wild animal.
11:06Do not continue to disregard the lives of your oppressed people.
11:12Remember your covenant promises,
11:14for the dark regions of the earth are full of places where violence rules.
11:21Do not let the afflicted be turned back in shame.
11:25Let the oppressed and the poor praise your name.
11:29Rise up, O God, defend your honour.

12:02The Prophet Daniel, Chapter 2
12:07Therefore Daniel went in to Ariok,
12:09whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon.
12:13He went in and said this to him,
12:15Don't destroy the wise men of Babylon.
12:19Bring me in before the king,
12:20and I will show to the king the interpretation.
12:25Then Ariok brought in Daniel before the king in haste,
12:28and said to him,
12:29I have found a man of the children of the captivity of Judah,
12:34who will make known to the king the interpretation.
12:39The king answered Daniel,
12:41whose name was Belteshazzar,
12:44Are you able to make known to me the dream which I have seen,
12:48and its interpretation?
12:51Daniel answered before the king and said,
12:55The secret which the king has demanded cannot be shown to the king
12:59by wise men, enchanters, magicians, or soothsayeres.
13:04But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets,
13:07and he has made known to the king Nebuchadnezzar
13:10what will be in the latter days.
13:15Your dream and the visions of your head on your bed are these.
13:19As for you, O king,
13:21your thoughts came on your bed
13:22as to what would happen hereafter,
13:26and he who reveals secrets
13:28has made known to you what will happen.
13:31But as for me,
13:32this secret is not revealed to me
13:34for any wisdom
13:35that I have
13:37more than any other living person,
13:40but to the intent
13:41that my interpretation
13:43may be made known to the king,
13:45and that you may know
13:47the thoughts of your heart.
13:50You, O king, saw,
13:51and behold,
13:53a great image.
13:54This image,
13:56which was mighty,
13:57and whose brightness was excellent,
14:00stood before you,
14:01and its appearance
14:03was terrifying.
14:05As for this image,
14:06its head
14:07was of fine gold,
14:09its breast and its arms
14:11of silver,
14:12its belly and its thighs
14:14of brass,
14:15its legs of iron,

14:17part iron and part clay.
14:21You looked
14:22until the stone
14:23was cut out without hands,
14:26which struck the image
14:27on its feet
14:28that were of iron and clay,

14:35the clay,

14:36the silver,

14:37were broken into pieces together
14:40and became like the chaff
14:42of the summer threshing floors.
14:45The wind carried them away
14:46so that no place
14:48was found for them.
14:50And the stone
14:51that struck the image
14:52became a great mountain
14:54and filled the whole earth.
14:59This is the dream,
15:00and we will tell its interpretation.
15:02before the king.
15:05You, O king,
15:06are king of kings,
15:07to whom the God of heaven
15:09has given the kingdom
15:10the power,
15:10the strength,
15:11and the glory.
15:13Wherever the children
15:14of men dwell,
15:16he has given the animals
15:17of the field
15:18and the birds of the sky
15:19into your hand
15:20and has made you
15:22ruler over them all.
15:25You are the head of gold.
15:28After you,
15:29another kingdom
15:29will arise
15:30that is inferior to you
15:31and another
15:33third kingdom
15:34of brass
15:35which will rule
15:36all over the earth.
15:38The fourth kingdom
15:39will be as strong
15:40as iron
15:41because iron
15:43breaks in pieces
15:44and subdues
15:45all things.
15:46And as iron
15:47that crushes

15:49it will break
15:50in pieces
15:51and crush.
15:53Whereas you saw
15:54the feet and toes
15:55part of potter's clay
15:57and part of iron,
15:58it will be
15:59a divided kingdom.
16:01But there will be
16:02in it
16:02the strength
16:03of the iron
16:04because you saw
16:05the iron mixed
16:06with the miry clay.
16:08And as the toes
16:09of the feet
16:10were part iron
16:11and part clay,
16:12so the kingdom
16:13will be partly strong
16:14and partly broken.
16:17Whereas you saw
16:18the iron mixed
16:19with miry clay,
16:20they will mingle
16:21themselves
16:21with the seed
16:22of men.
16:24But they won't
16:25cling one to another
16:26even as iron
16:27does not mix
16:28with clay.
16:30In the days
16:31of these kings,
16:32the king of heaven
16:34will set up
16:35a kingdom
16:35which will never
16:36be destroyed.
16:37Nor will its
16:38sovereignty
16:39be left
16:40to another people.
16:41But it will
16:42break in pieces
16:43and consume
16:44all these kingdoms
16:45and will stand
16:46forever.
16:48because you saw
16:50that a stone
16:50was cut out
16:51of the mountain
16:52without hands
16:53and it broke
16:54in pieces
16:55the iron,
16:56the brass,
16:57the clay,
16:57the silver
16:58and the gold.
16:59The great god
17:01has made known
17:01to the king
17:02what will happen
17:03hereafter.

17:06is certain
