00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 53
05:01Fools say to themselves, there is no God.
05:05They sin and commit evil deeds.
05:07None of them does what is right.
05:10God looks down from heaven at the human race,
05:14to see if there is anyone who is wise, and seeks God.
05:19Everyone rejects God.
05:21They are all morally corrupt.
05:23None of them does what is right.
05:26Not even one.
05:29All those who behave wickedly do not understand.
05:32Those who devour my people, as if they were eating bread,
05:36and do not call out to God.
05:40They are absolutely terrified,
05:42even by things that do not normally cause fear.
05:46For God annihilates those who attack you.
05:50You are able to humiliate them because God has rejected them.
05:55I wish the deliverance of Israel would come from Zion.
05:59When God restores the well-being of his people,
06:03may Jacob rejoice.
06:04May Israel be happy.
06:09Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
06:13as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
06:17world without end.
06:19Amen.
06:21Amen.
06:25Psalm 54
06:29O God, deliver me by your name.
06:32Vindicate me by your power.
06:34O God, listen to my prayer.
06:37Pay attention to what I say.
06:39For foreigners attack me.
06:41Ruthless men who do not respect God
06:44seek my life.
06:47Look, God is my deliverer.
06:49The Lord is among those who support me.
06:52May those who wait to ambush me be repaid for their evil.
06:57As a demonstration of your faithfulness, destroy them.
07:02With the freewill offering, I will sacrifice to you.
07:06I will give thanks to your name, O Lord, for it is good.
07:12Surely he rescues me from all trouble,
07:15and I triumph over my enemies.
07:20Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
07:24as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
07:28world without end.
07:30Amen.
07:35Psalm 55
07:39Listen, O God, to my prayer.
07:41Do not ignore my appeal for mercy.
07:45Pay attention to me, and answer me.
07:47I am upset and distressed.
07:49I am beside myself,
07:51because of what the enemy says,
07:54and of how they wicked pressure me.
07:57For they hurl trouble down upon me,
08:00and angrily attack me.
08:04My heart beats violently within me.
08:07The horrors of death overcome me.
08:10Fear and panic overpower me.
08:13Terror overwhelms me.
08:16I say, I wish I had wings like a dove.
08:20I would fly away and settle in a safe place.
08:25Look, I will escape to a distant place.
08:28I will stay in the wilderness.
08:31I will hurry off to a place that is safe
08:34from the strong wind and the gale.
08:38Confuse them, O Lord.
08:40Frustrate their plans,
08:41for I see violence and conflict in the city.
08:46Day and night, they walk around its walls,
08:49while wickedness and destruction are within it.
08:54Disaster is within it.
08:55Violence and deceit do not depart from its public square.
09:01Indeed, it is not an enemy who insults me,
09:04or else I could bear it.
09:06It is not one who hates me arrogantly,
09:08who taunts me,
09:09or else I could hide from him.
09:13But it is you, a man like me,
09:16my close friend in whom I confided.
09:21We would share personal thoughts with each other.
09:24In God's temple, we would walk together among the crowd.
09:30May death destroy them.
09:32May they go down alive in Sheol,
09:34for evil is their dwelling place and in their midst.
09:39As for me, I will call out to the Lord,
09:42and the Lord will deliver me.
09:45During the evening, morning, and the noontime,
09:47I will lament and moan,
09:49and he will hear me.
09:52He will rescue me and protect me from those who attack me,
09:55even though they greatly outnumber me.
10:00God, the one who has reigned as king from long ago,
10:03will hear and humiliate them.
10:07They refuse to change and do not fear God.
10:11He attacks them.
10:13He breaks his solemn promises to them.
10:17His words are as smooth as butter,
10:19but he harbors animosity in his heart.
10:24His words seem softer than oil,
10:26but they are really like sharp swords.
10:31Throw your burden upon the Lord,
10:33and he will sustain you.
10:35He will never allow the godly to be shaken.
10:39But you, O Lord, will bring them down to the deep pit.
10:44Violent and deceitful people
10:46will not live even half a normal lifespan.
10:51But as for me, I trust in you.
10:55Glory be to the Father,
10:57and to the Son,
10:58and to the Holy Spirit,
11:00as it was in the beginning,
11:01is now, and ever shall be,
11:04world without end.
11:06Amen.
11:15The Prophet Jeremiah, Chapter 7
11:20The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord,
11:23saying,
11:24Take your place in the doorway of the Lord's house,
11:27and give out this word there,
11:29and say,
11:30Give ear to the word of the Lord,
11:32all you of Judah who come inside these doors,
11:35to give worship to the Lord.
11:38The Lord of armies, the God of Israel, says,
11:42Let your ways and your doings be changed for the better,
11:45and I will let you go on living in this place.
11:49Put no faith in false words, saying,
11:52The temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord,
11:54the temple of the Lord, are these.
11:58For if your ways and if your doings are truly changed for the better,
12:03if you truly give right decisions between a man and his neighbour,
12:08if you are not cruel to the man from a strange country,
12:12to the child without a father,
12:14and to the widow,
12:15and do not put the upright to death in this place,
12:19or go after other gods,
12:21causing damage to yourselves,
12:24then I will let you go on living in this place,
12:28in the land which I gave to your fathers in the past and for ever.
12:33See, you put your faith in false words,
12:37which are of no profit.
12:38Will you take the goods of others,
12:40put men to death,
12:41and be untrue to your wives,
12:44taking false oaths,
12:46having perfumes burnt to the bale,
12:49going after other gods which are strange to you?
12:53Come and take your place before me in this house,
12:56which is named by my name,
12:58and say,
12:59We have been made safe,
13:01so that you may do all these disgusting things.
13:05Has this house, which is named by my name,
13:07become a whole of thieves to you?
13:11Truly I,
13:12even I have seen it,
13:15says the Lord.
13:18But go now to my place,
13:19which was in Shiloh,
13:21where I put my name at first,
13:23and see what I did to it,
13:25because of the evil doing of my people Israel.
13:28Now, because you have done all these things,
13:31says the Lord,
13:32and I sent my word to you,
13:35getting up early and sending,
13:37but you did not listen,
13:38and my voice came to you,
13:40but you gave no answer.
13:42For this reason I will do to this house,
13:45which is named by my name,
13:47and in which you have put your faith
13:49unto the place which I gave you and your fathers,
13:53as I have done to Shiloh.
13:56I will send you away from before my face,
13:59as I have sent away all your brothers,
14:01even the seed of Ephraim.
14:04As for you, Jeremiah,
14:06make no prayers for these people,
14:08send up no cry of prayer for them,
14:11make no request for them to me,
14:13for I will not listen.
14:17Do you not see what they are doing
14:19in the towns of Judah
14:20and in the streets of Jerusalem?
14:24The children go for wood,
14:26the fathers get the fire burning,
14:29the women are working the paste
14:31to make cakes for the Queen of Heaven,
14:33and drink offerings are drained out
14:35to other gods,
14:37leaving me to wrath.
14:39Are they moving me to wrath,
14:41says the Lord?
14:42Are they not moving themselves to their shame?
14:48So this is what the Lord God has said.
14:51See, my wrath and my passion
14:54will be let loose on this place,
14:56on man and beast,
14:57on the trees of the field,
14:59on the produce of the earth.
15:01It will be burning and will not be put out.
15:05These are the words of the Lord God of armies,
15:08the God of Israel.
15:09Put your burnt offerings
15:11with your offerings of beasts
15:12and take flesh for your food.
15:15For I said nothing to your fathers
15:17and gave them no orders
15:18on the day I took them out of Egypt,
15:20about burnt offerings
15:22or the offerings of beasts.
15:24But this was the order I gave to them,
15:27saying,
15:28Listen to my voice
15:29and I will be your God
15:30and you will be my people.
15:33Go in all the way ordered by me,
15:35so that all may be well for you.
15:38They took no note and did not listen,
15:40but were guided by the thoughts
15:42and the pride of their evil hearts,
15:44not going back and not forward.
15:48From the day when your fathers came out of Egypt
15:51until this day,
15:52I have sent my servants,
15:53the prophets, to you,
15:55getting up early every day
15:57and sending them.
15:58But still they take no note
16:00and would not listen,
16:02but they made their necks stiff,
16:04doing worse than their fathers.
16:06You are to say all these words to them,
16:08but they will not listen.
16:10You will send out your voice to them,
16:12but they will not answer.
16:14You are to say to them,
16:16this is the nation
16:17which has not listened
16:18to the voice of their God,
16:19nor taken his teaching to heart.
16:22Good faith is dead
16:24and cut off from their mouths.
16:28Let your hair be cut off
16:29by Jerusalem and let it go,
16:31and let a song of grief
16:33go up on the open hilltops.
16:35For the Lord is turned away
16:37from the generation of his wrath
16:38and has given them up.
16:41For the children of Judah
16:42have done what is evil
16:43in my eyes,
16:44says the Lord,
16:46they have put disgusting images
16:48in their house
16:49which is named by my name,
16:51making it unclean.
16:53They have put up
16:54the high place of Topheth
16:55in the valley of the son of Hinnom,
16:58burning their sons
16:59and their daughters
17:00there in a fire,
17:02a thing which was not ordered by me
17:04and never came into my mind.
17:07For this cause the days are coming,
17:09said the Lord,
17:09when it will no longer be named Topheth
17:12or the valley of the son of Hinnom,
17:14but the valley of death,
17:16for there they will put the dead
17:18in the earth in Topheth
17:19until there is no more room.
17:22The bodies of this people
17:23will be food for the birds of heaven
17:25and for the beasts of the earth,
17:27and there will be no one
17:28to send them away.
17:30In the towns of Judah
17:32and in the streets of Jerusalem
17:34I will put an end
17:35to the laughing voices,
17:37the sound of joy
17:38and the voice of newly married men
17:40and the voice of their brides,
17:43for the land will become a waste.
17:46This is the word of the Lord.
17:50Thanks be to God.
17:52Amen.
18:02Mary said,
18:04My soul exalts the Lord
18:07and my spirit has begun to rejoice
18:10in God my Saviour,
18:12because he has looked upon the humble state
18:15of his servant.
18:17For from now on
18:19all generations
18:20will call me blessed,
18:22because he who is mighty
18:23has done great things for me
18:25and holy is his name.
18:28From generation to generation
18:31he is merciful
18:32to those who fear him.
18:35He has demonstrated power
18:37with his arm.
18:38He has scattered those
18:40whose pride wells up
18:41from the sheer arrogance
18:42of their hearts.
18:44He has brought down
18:46the mighty from their thrones
18:47and has lifted up
18:49those of lowly position.
18:51He has filled the hungry
18:53with good things
18:54and has sent the rich
18:55away empty.
18:57He has helped
18:58his servant Israel
19:00remembering his mercy
19:02as he promised
19:03to our ancestors,
19:05to Abraham
19:06and to his descendants
19:08forever.
19:10Glory be to the Father
19:12and to the Son
19:13and to the Holy Spirit
19:14as it was in the beginning
19:17is now and ever shall be
19:19world without end.
19:22Amen.
19:29The Gospel according to
19:30Saint Matthew
19:31chapter 22
19:35Jesus talking to them
19:37again in parables
19:38said,
19:38The kingdom of heaven
19:40is like a certain king
19:41who made a feast
19:42when his son was married
19:43and sent his servants
19:44out to bring the guests
19:46to the feast,
19:47but they would not come.
19:49Again he sent out
19:50other servants
19:51with orders to say
19:52to the guests,
19:53Look,
19:53I have made ready
19:54my feast,
19:55my oxen
19:55and my fat beasts
19:56have been put to death.
19:58Everything is ready.
19:59Come.
20:00But they gave no attention
20:02and went about
20:03their business,
20:04one to his farm
20:05and other to his trade.
20:07The others put violent
20:08hands on the servants
20:09and did evil to them,
20:11even putting them to death.
20:14But the king was angry.
20:15He sent his armies
20:16and those who had put
20:17his servants to death.
20:18He gave up to destruction,
20:20burning their towns
20:21with fire.
20:23Then he said to his servants,
20:25The feast is ready,
20:26but the guests
20:27were not good enough.
20:28Go to the crossroads,
20:30bring all those
20:31who you see
20:31to come to the bridal feast.
20:33The servants went out
20:35into the streets
20:36and got together
20:37all whom they came across,
20:39bad and good.
20:40And the feast
20:41was full of guests.
20:43But when the king
20:44came in to see the guests,
20:45he saw there was a man there
20:47who had not on
20:48a guest's robe
20:49and he said to him,
20:50Friend,
20:51how did you come in here
20:52not having a guest's robe?
20:54And he had nothing to say.
20:57The king said to the servant,
20:59Put cords around
21:00his hands and feet
21:01and put him out
21:02into the dark.
21:04There there will be weeping
21:05and cries of sorrow.
21:08For out of all
21:09to whom the good news
21:10has come,
21:11only a small number
21:12will gain salvation.
21:15This is the word
21:17of the Lord.
21:18Thanks be to God.
21:30Now according to your word,
21:33Sovereign Lord,
21:34permit your servant
21:35to depart in peace.
21:37For my eyes
21:38have seen your salvation,
21:40that you have prepared
21:42in the presence
21:43of all peoples,
21:45a light for revelation
21:46to the Gentiles
21:48and for glory
21:49to your people Israel.
21:53Glory be to the Father
21:54and to the Son
21:55and to the Holy Spirit,
21:57as it was in the beginning,
21:59is now and ever shall be,
22:01world without end.
22:03Amen.
22:08I believe in God,
22:10the Father Almighty,
22:12maker of heaven and earth,
22:14and in Jesus Christ,
22:15his only Son,
22:16our Lord,
22:18who was conceived
22:19by the Holy Spirit,
22:21born of the Virgin Mary,
22:23suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
22:26was crucified,
22:28dead,
22:29and buried.
22:29He descended into hell.
22:32On the third day
22:33he rose again
22:34from the dead.
22:35He ascended into heaven
22:37and is sitting
22:39at the right hand
22:40of God,
22:40the Father Almighty.
22:43From there
22:43he shall come
22:44to judge the living
22:45and the dead.
22:47I believe
22:48in the Holy Spirit,
22:49the Holy Catholic Church,
22:51the communion
22:52of saints,
22:53the forgiveness
22:54of sins,
22:55the resurrection
22:56of the body,
22:58and the life everlasting.
23:00Amen.
23:06The Lord be with you
23:08and with your spirit.
23:12Let us pray.
23:16Lord, have mercy upon us.
23:20Christ, have mercy upon us.
23:24Lord, have mercy upon us.
23:31Our Father,
23:32who is in heaven,
23:34holy is your name.
23:37May your kingdom come.
23:39May your will be done
23:41on earth as it is in heaven.
23:44Give us this day
23:45our daily bread.
23:46Forgive us our trespasses
23:48as we forgive those
23:50who trespass against us.
23:53Lead us not into temptation,
23:55but deliver us from evil.
23:58For yours is the kingdom,
24:01the power and the glory,
24:03for ever and ever.
24:06Amen.
24:10O Lord, show your mercy upon us
24:13and grant us
24:16and grant us your salvation.
24:19Protect and guide those
24:21in authority over us
24:24and mercifully hear us
24:26when we call upon you.
24:30Endue your ministers
