00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:56Psalm 69
04:59Deliver me, O God, for the water has reached my neck.
05:04I sink into the deep mire where there is no solid groan.
05:09I am in deep water, and the current overpowers me.
05:13I am exhausted from shouting for help.
05:16My throat is sore, and my eyes grow tired of looking for my God.
05:22Those who hate me without cause are more numerous than the hairs of my head.
05:28Those who want to destroy me, my enemies for no reason, outnumber me.
05:34They make me repay what I did not steal.
05:38O God, you are aware of my foolish sins.
05:41My guilt is not hidden from you.
05:44Let none who rely on you be disgraced because of me.
05:51O Sovereign Lord of heaven's armies,
05:54let none who seek you be ashamed because of me, O God of Israel.
06:00For I suffer humiliation for your sake and am thoroughly disgraced.
06:06My own brothers treat me like a stranger.
06:09They act as if I were a foreigner.
06:13Certainly zeal for your house consumes me.
06:16I endure the insults of those who insult you.
06:21I weep and refrain from eating food, which causes others to insult me.
06:27I wear sackcloth and they ridicule me.
06:32Those who sit at the city gate gossip about me.
06:37Drunkards mock me in their songs.
06:40O Lord, may you hear my prayer and be favourably disposed to me.
06:45O God, because of your great loyal love,
06:49answer me with your deliverance.
06:52Rescue me from the mud.
06:54Do not let me sink.
06:56Deliver me from those who hate me from the deep water.
07:00Do not let the current overpower me.
07:03Do not let the deep swallow me up.
07:06Do not let the pit devour me.
07:09Answer me, O Lord, for your loyal love is good.
07:13Because of your great compassion, turn toward me.
07:17Do not ignore your servant, for I am in trouble.
07:21Answer me right away.
07:23Come near and redeem me.
07:25Because of my enemies, rescue me.
07:30You know how I am insulted, humiliated and disgraced.
07:35You can see all my enemies.
07:38Their insults are painful and make me lose heart.
07:42I look for sympathy but receive none, for comforters but find none.
07:49They put bitter poison in my food, and to quench my thirst they give me vinegar to drink.
07:57May their dining table become a trap before them.
08:00May it be a snare for that group of friends.
08:05May their eyes be blinded, make them shake violently.
08:10Pour out judgment on them.
08:12May your raging anger overtake them.
08:14May their camp become desolate, their tents uninhabited.
08:21For they harass the one whom you discipline.
08:24They spread the news about the suffering of those whom you punish.
08:28Hold them accountable for their sins.
08:31Do not vindicate them.
08:33May their names be deleted from the scroll of the living.
08:37Do not let their names be listed with the godly.
08:41I am oppressed and suffering.
08:43O God, deliver and protect me.
08:46I will sing praises to God's name.
08:49I will magnify him as I give thanks.
08:52That will please the Lord more than an ox or a bull with horns and hooves.
08:59The oppressed look on.
09:01Let them rejoice.
09:02You who seek God, may you be encouraged.
09:05For the Lord listens to the needy.
09:07He does not despise his captive people.
09:11Let the heavens and the earth praise him,
09:14along with the seas and everything that swims in them.
09:17For God will deliver Zion and rebuild the cities of Judah,
09:21and his people will live again in them and possess Zion.
09:28The descendants of all his servants will inherit it,
09:31and those who are loyal to him will live in it.
09:36Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
09:40as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
09:44world without end.
09:47Amen.
09:50Psalm 70
09:53O God, please be willing to rescue me.
09:57O Lord, hurry and help me.
10:00May those who are trying to take my life be embarrassed and ashamed.
10:05May those who want to harm me be turned back and ashamed.
10:10May those who say,
10:11Aha! Aha!
10:13Be driven back and disgraced.
10:16May all those who seek you be happy and rejoice in you.
10:21May those who love to experience your deliverance say continually,
10:25May God be praised.
10:29I am oppressed and needy.
10:31O God, hurry to me,
10:33for you are my helper and my deliverer.
10:36O Lord, do not delay.
10:40Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
10:44as it was in the beginning,
10:46is now, and ever shall be,
10:49world without end.
10:51Amen.
10:58The book of Job, chapter 38
11:04Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind.
11:10Who is this that darkens counsel with words without knowledge?
11:15Get ready for a difficult task like a man.
11:18I will question you, and you will inform me.
11:22Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?
11:26Tell me if you possess understanding.
11:29Who set its measurements, if you know?
11:32Or who stretched a measuring line across it?
11:36On what were its bases set?
11:38Or who laid its cornerstone
11:40when the morning stars sang in chorus,
11:43and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
11:47Who shut up the sea with doors
11:49when it burst forth,
11:51coming out of the womb?
11:53When I made the storm clouds its garment,
11:56and thick darkness its swaddling band?
11:59When I prescribed its limits,
12:01and set in its place its bolts and doors?
12:05When I said,
12:06Do here you may come, and no further.
12:08Here your broad waves will be confined.
12:13Have you ever in your life commanded the morning,
12:16or made the dawn know its place,
12:18that it might seize the corners of the earth,
12:21and shake the wicked out of it?
12:25The earth takes shape like clay under a seal.
12:29Its features are dyed like a garment.
12:33Then from the wicked the light is withheld,
12:35and the arm raised in violence is broken.
12:40Have you gone to the springs that fill the sea,
12:43or walked about in the recesses of the deep?
12:47Have the gates of death been revealed to you?
12:51Have you seen the gates of deepest darkness?
12:55Have you considered the vast expanses of the earth?
12:59Tell me, if you know it all.
13:01In what direction does light reside,
13:04and darkness, where is its place,
13:06that you may take them to their borders,
13:09and perceive the pathways to their homes?
13:14You know, for you were born before them,
13:16the number of your days is great.
13:21Have you entered the storehouse of the snow,
13:24or seen the armory of the hail,
13:26which I reserved for the time of trouble,
13:29for the day of war and battle?
13:32In what direction is lightning dispersed,
13:35or the east wind scattered over the earth?
13:39Who carves out its channel for the heavy rains,
13:42and a path for the rumble of thunder,
13:44to cause it to ruin an uninhabited land,
13:49a desert where there are no human beings,
13:52to satisfy a devastated and desolate land,
13:55and to cause it to sprout with vegetation?
14:02Does the rain have a father?
14:04Who goes farther than the drops of the dew?
14:08From whose womb does the ice emerge,
14:11and the frost from the sky,
14:12who gives birth to it?
14:14When the waters become hard like stone,
14:17when the surface of the deep is frozen solid?
14:22Can you tie the bands of the Pleiades,
14:24or release the cords of Orion?
14:27Can you lead out the constellations in their seasons,
14:30or guide the bear with its cubs?
14:35Do you know the laws of the heavens?
14:38Can you set up their rule over the earth?
14:42Can you raise your voice to the clouds,
14:44so that a flood of water covers you?
14:48Can you send out lightning bolts,
14:50and they go?
14:51Will they say to you,
14:53Here we are?
14:56Who has put wisdom in the heart,
14:58or has imparted understanding to the mind?
15:02Who by wisdom can count the clouds?
15:04Who can tip over the water jars of heaven,
15:07when the dust hardens into a mass,
15:09and the clumps of earth stick together?
15:14Do you hunt prey for the lioness,
15:16and satisfy the appetite of the lions,
15:19when they crutch in their dens,
15:21when they wait in ambush in the thicket?
15:24Who prepares prey for the raven,
15:27when its young cry out to God,
15:30and wander about for lack of food?
15:34This is the word of the Lord.
15:37Thanks be to God.
15:51Mary said,
15:53My soul exalts the Lord,
15:55and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
16:00because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
16:05For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
16:09because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
16:14and holy is his name.
16:16From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
16:23He has demonstrated power with his arm.
16:26He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
16:32He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
16:35and has lifted up those of lowly position.
16:39He has filled the hungry with good things,
16:42and has sent the rich away empty.
16:45He has helped his servant Israel,
16:48remembering his mercy,
16:50as he promised to our ancestors,
16:53to Abraham,
16:54and to his descendants forever.
16:58Glory be to the Father,
17:00and to the Son,
17:01and to the Holy Spirit,
17:02as it was in the beginning,
17:05is now,
17:06and ever shall be,
17:08world without end.
17:09Amen.
17:18The Gospel according to St. Matthew,
17:21Chapter 6.
17:25Be careful not to display your righteousness
17:27merely to be seen by people.
17:29Otherwise,
17:30you will have no reward with your Father in heaven.
17:34Thus,
17:35whenever you do a charitable giving,
17:37do not blow a trumpet before you.
17:39as the hypocrites do in synagogues,
17:42and on streets,
17:43so that people will praise them.
17:46I tell you the truth,
17:48they have their reward.
17:50But when you do your giving,
17:52do not let your left hand know
17:54what your right hand is doing,
17:56that your gift may be in secret.
17:59And your Father,
18:00who sees in secret,
18:02will reward you.
18:05Whenever you pray,
18:06do not be like the hypocrites,
18:07because they love to pray
18:09while standing in synagogues,
18:11and on street corners,
18:13so that people can see them.
18:16Truly,
18:16I say to you,
18:17they have their reward.
18:19But whenever you pray,
18:21go into your room,
18:22close the door,
18:23and pray to your Father in secret.
18:27and your Father,
18:28who sees in secret,
18:29will reward you.
18:32When you pray,
18:33do not babble repetitiously like the Gentiles,
18:36because they think that by their many words
18:39they will be heard.
18:41Do not be like them,
18:43for your Father knows what you need
18:45before you ask him.
18:46So pray this way.
18:50Our Father in heaven,
18:51may your name be honoured,
18:53may your kingdom come,
18:55may your will be done on earth
18:57as it is in heaven.
19:00Give us today our daily bread.
19:04Forgive us our debts,
19:05as we ourselves have forgiven our debtors.
19:09Do not lead us into temptation,
19:12or deliver us from the evil one.
19:17For if you forgive others their sins,
19:20your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
19:24But if you do not forgive others,
19:26your Father will not forgive you your sins.
19:31When you fast,
19:32do not look sullen like the hypocrites,
19:35for they make their faces unattractive,
19:38so that people will see them fasting.
19:41I tell you the truth,
19:43they have their reward.
19:45When you fast,
19:47put oil on your head and wash your face,
19:49so that it will not be obvious to others
19:52when you are fasting,
19:54but only to your Father who is in secret.
19:58And your Father who sees in secret
20:00will reward you.
20:04This is the word of the Lord.
20:06Thanks be to God.
20:18Now according to your word,
20:20Sovereign Lord,
20:21permit your servant to depart in peace.
20:25For my eyes have seen your salvation
20:27that you have prepared
20:29in the presence of all peoples,
20:32a light for revelation to the Gentiles
20:35and for glory to your people Israel.
20:40Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
20:44as it was in the beginning,
20:46is now and ever shall be,
20:48world without end.
20:51Amen.
20:56I believe in God,
20:57the Father Almighty,
20:59maker of heaven and earth,
21:01and in Jesus Christ,
21:03his only Son,
21:04our Lord,
21:05who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
21:08born of the Virgin Mary,
21:10suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
21:13was crucified,
21:15dead,
21:16and buried.
21:17He descended into hell.
21:19On the third day,
21:20he rose again from the dead.
21:23He ascended into heaven
21:25and is sitting at the right hand of God,
21:28the Father Almighty.
21:30From there,
21:31he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
21:34I believe in the Holy Spirit,
21:37the Holy Catholic Church,
21:39the communion of saints,
21:40the forgiveness of sins,
21:43the resurrection of the body,
21:45and the life everlasting.
21:48Amen.
21:53The Lord be with you,
21:56and with your spirit.
22:00Let us pray.
22:03Lord,
22:04have mercy upon us.
22:07Christ,
22:08have mercy upon us.
22:11Lord,
22:12have mercy upon us.
22:18Our Father,
22:19who is in heaven,
22:21holy is your name.
22:24May your kingdom come.
22:26May your will be done on earth
22:28as it is in heaven.
22:31Give us this day our daily bread.
22:34Forgive us our trespasses,
22:36as we forgive those who trespass against us.
22:40Lead us not into temptation,
22:43but deliver us from evil.
22:45For yours is the kingdom,
22:48the power and the glory,
22:50for ever and ever.
22:52Amen.
22:58O Lord,
22:59show your mercy upon us,
23:01and grant us your salvation.
23:06Protect and guide those in authority over us,
23:11and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
23:17Endue your ministers with righteousness,
23:20and make your chosen people joyful.
23:26O Lord,
23:27save your people,
23:29and bless your inheritance.
23:34Give peace in our time,
23:36O Lord,
23:38because there is none other who fights for us,
23:41but only you,
23:42O God.
23:44O God,
23:45make clean our hearts within us,
23:49and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
24:01Let us pray.
24:04O God,
24:05who has prepared for those who love you
24:07such good things as past man's understanding,
24:11pour into our hearts such love toward you,
24:14that we, loving you above all things,
24:17may obtain your promises,
24:20which exceed all that we can desire.
24:22Through Jesus Christ,
24:25our Lord.
24:26Amen.
24:35O God,
24:36from whom all holy desires,
24:39all good counsels,
24:40and all just works proceed,
24:42give to your servants that peace which the world cannot give,
24:48that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
24:51and also that,
24:54by you,
24:55we,
24:56being defended from the fear of our enemies,
24:59may pass our time in rest and quietness.
25:02Through the merits of Jesus Christ,
25:05our Saviour.
25:07Amen.
25:12Lighten our darkness,
25:13we beseech you,
25:14O Lord,
25:14and by your great mercy defend us all
25:18from perils and dangers of this night.
25:22For the love of your only Son,
25:24our Saviour,
25:25Jesus Christ.
25:26Amen.
25:30Almighty God,
25:32who has given us grace at this time with one accord,
25:35to make our common supplications to you,
25:39and promises that when two or three are gathered together in your name,
25:43you will grant their requests.
25:47Fulfill now,
25:48O Lord,
25:49the desires and petitions of your servants,
25:52as may be most beneficial for them,
25:56granting us in this world knowledge of your truth,
26:00and in the world to come,
26:02life everlasting.
26:05Amen.
26:08With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
26:10and the love of God,
26:11and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
26:14be with us all evermore.
26:17Amen.
