00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:03Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name.
03:14Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace,
03:24that they may be cleansed from all their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind, through Jesus Christ our
03:32Lord.
03:33Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
04:10Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
04:39as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
04:43world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:58Psalm 142
05:01To the Lord I cry out, to the Lord I plead for mercy.
05:06I pour out my lament before him.
05:08I tell him about my troubles.
05:11Even when my strength leaves me, you watch my footsteps.
05:15In the path where I walk, they have hidden a trap for me.
05:21Look to the right and see.
05:24No one cares about me.
05:26I have nowhere to run.
05:28No one is concerned about my life.
05:31I cry out to you, O Lord.
05:33I say, you are my shelter, my security in the land of the living.
05:40Listen to my cry for help, for I am in serious trouble.
05:44Rescue me from those who chase me, for they are stronger than I am.
05:50Free me from prison, that I may give thanks to your name.
05:55Because of me the godly will assemble, for you will vindicate me.
06:00Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
06:04As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
06:11Amen.
06:17Psalm 143
06:20O Lord, hear my prayer.
06:22Pay attention to my plea for help.
06:25Because of your faithfulness and justice, answer me.
06:30Do not sit in judgment on your servant, for no one alive is innocent before you.
06:38Certainly my enemies chase me.
06:40They smash me into the ground.
06:43They force me to live in dark regions, like those who have been dead for ages.
06:49My strength leaves me.
06:51I am absolutely shocked.
06:55I recall the old days.
06:58I meditate on all you have done.
07:00I reflect on your accomplishments.
07:04I spread out my hands to you in prayer.
07:08My soul thirsts for you in a parched land.
07:12Answer me quickly, O Lord.
07:15My strength is fading.
07:17Do not reject me, or I will join those descending into the grave.
07:23May I hear about your loyal love in the morning, for I trust in you.
07:28Show me the way I should go, because I long for you.
07:34Rescue me from my enemies, O Lord.
07:37I run to you for protection.
07:41Teach me to do what pleases you, for you are my God.
07:45May your kind presence lead me into a level land.
07:51O Lord, for the sake of your reputation, revive me.
07:55Because of your justice, rescue me from trouble.
08:00As a demonstration of your loyal love, destroy my enemies.
08:06Annihilate all who threaten my life, for I am your servant.
08:11Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
08:16As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
08:20World without end.
08:22Amen.
08:30The book of Proverbs, chapter 22
08:35A good name is to be chosen, rather than great wealth.
08:39Good favour more than silver or gold.
08:43The rich and the poor meet together, and the Lord is the creator of them both.
08:49A shrewd person sees danger, and hides himself.
08:53But the naive keep right on going, and suffer for it.
08:58The reward for humility and fearing the Lord, is riches and honour and life.
09:05Thorns and snares are in the path of the perverse, but the one who guards himself keeps far from them.
09:14Train a child in the way that he should go, and when he is old, he will not turn from
09:20it.
09:22The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
09:29The one who sows iniquity will reap trouble, and the rod of his fury will end.
09:36A generous person will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.
09:43Drive out the scorner, and contention will leave.
09:47Strife and insults will cease.
09:50The one who loves a pure heart, and whose speech is gracious.
09:55The king will be his friend.
09:58The eyes of the Lord guard knowledge, but he overthrows the words of a faithless person.
10:05The sluggard says, there is a lion outside, I will be killed in the middle of the street.
10:13The mouth of Nodotris is like a deep pit.
10:17The one against whom the Lord is angry will fall into it.
10:23Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far from
10:29him.
10:31The one who oppresses the poor to increase his own gain, and the one who gives to the rich, both
10:40end up only in poverty.
10:50For it is pleasing if you keep these sayings within you, and they are ready on your lips.
10:57So that your confidence may be in the Lord, I am making them known to you today, even to you.
11:05Have I not written thirty sayings for you, sayings of counsel and knowledge, to show you true and reliable words,
11:13so that you may give accurate answers to those who sent you?
11:19Do not exploit a poor person because he is poor, do not crush the needy in court, for the Lord
11:27will plead their case, and will rob those who are robbing them.
11:32Do not make friends with an angry person, and do not associate with a wrathful person, lest you learn his
11:39ways, and entangle yourself in a snare.
11:44Do not be one who strikes hands in a pledge, or who puts up security for debts.
11:51If you do not have enough to pay, your bed will be taken right out from under you.
11:57Do not move an ancient boundary stone, which was put in place by your ancestors.
12:04Do you see a person skilled in his work? He will take his position before kings.
12:10He will not take his position before obscure people.
12:16This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
12:31Mary said, My soul exalts the Lord, and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour.
12:40Because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
12:45For from now on all generations will call me blessed, because he who is mighty has done great things for
12:53me, and holy is his name.
12:56From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
13:03He has demonstrated power with his arm.
13:06He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
13:12He has brought down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up those of lowly position.
13:18He has filled the hungry with good things, and has sent the rich away empty.
13:25He has helped his servant Israel, remembering his mercy as he promised to our ancestors, to Abraham, and to his
13:35descendants for ever.
13:38Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
13:45is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
13:49Amen.
13:55The Gospel according to St. Matthew, Chapter 15
14:02The Pharisees and experts in the law came from Jerusalem to Jesus, and asked,
14:08Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders?
14:12For they don't wash their hands when they eat.
14:17He answered them, Why do you disobey the commandments of God, because of your tradition?
14:24For God said, Honour your father and mother, and whoever insults his father or mother must be put to death.
14:31But you say, If someone tells his father or mother, Whatever help you would have received from me is given
14:37to God.
14:38He does not need to honour his father.
14:42You have nullified the word of God on account of your tradition.
14:47Hypocrites!
14:49Isaiah prophesied correctly about you when he said,
14:52This people honours me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
14:57They worship me in vain, teaching as doctrine the commandments of men.
15:04Then he called the crowd to him and said, Listen and understand.
15:09What defiles a person is not what goes into them, it's what comes out that defiles a person.
15:17Then the disciples came to him and said, Don't you know that when the Pharisees heard this saying, they were
15:23offended?
15:25He replied, Any plant that my heavenly father did not plant will be uprooted.
15:31Leave them, for they are blind guides.
15:35If someone who is blind leads another who is blind, both will fall into the pit.
15:44Peter asked him, Explain this parable to us.
15:50Jesus said, Even after all this, are you still so foolish?
15:56Don't you understand that whatever goes into the mouth enters the stomach and then passes out into the sewer?
16:03But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these are the things that defile
16:09a person.
16:10For out of the heart come evil ideas, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony and slander.
16:23These are the things that defile a person.
16:26It is not eating with unwashed hands that defiles a person.
16:32This is the word of the Lord.
16:35Thanks be to God.
16:42Collect for peace.
16:44O God, from whom all holy desires, all good counsels and all just works proceed.
16:53Give to your servants that peace which the world cannot give, that our hearts may be set to obey your
17:01commandments.
17:02And also that by you, we being defended from the fear of our enemies, may pass our time in rest
17:11and quietness.
17:13Through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour.
17:20Amen.
17:24Collect for aid against all perils.
17:30Lighten our darkness, we beg you, O Lord.
17:33And by your great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night.
17:40For the love of your only Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
17:46Amen.
17:58Now according to your word, Sovereign Lord, permit your servant to depart in peace.
18:04For my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples.
18:12A light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.
18:20Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
18:26is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
18:30Amen.
18:36I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our
18:44Lord.
18:44Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered unto Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead,
18:56and buried.
18:57He descended into hell.
18:59On the third day he rose again from the dead.
19:03He ascended into heaven, and is sitting at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
19:10From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
19:14I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection
19:23of the body, and the life everlasting.
19:27Amen.
19:33The Lord be with you, and with your spirit.
19:40Let us pray.
19:43Lord, have mercy upon us.
19:47Christ, have mercy upon us.
19:51Lord, have mercy upon us.
19:58Our Father, who is in heaven, holy is your name.
20:04May your kingdom come.
20:06May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
20:11Give us this day our daily bread.
20:13Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
20:20Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
20:25For yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever.
20:33Amen.
20:38O Lord, show your mercy upon us, and grant us your salvation.
20:46Protect and guide those in authority over us, and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
20:57Endure your ministers with righteousness, and make your chosen people joyful.
21:05O Lord, save your people, and bless your inheritance.
21:14Give peace in our time, O Lord, because there is none other who fights for us but only you, O
21:22God.
21:24O God, make clean our hearts within us, and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
21:39Let us pray.
21:43O God, whose never-failing providence orders all things, both in heaven and on earth.
21:48We humbly beseech you to put away from us all hurtful things, and to give us those things which are
21:56profitable for us.
21:58Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
22:01Amen.
22:10O God, from whom all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works proceed, give to your servants that
22:20peace which the world cannot give, that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments.
22:27And also that, by you, we, being defended from the fear of our enemies, may pass our time in rest
22:36and quietness.
22:37Through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour.
22:42Amen.
22:46Light in our darkness we beseech you, O Lord, and by your great mercy defend us all from perils and
22:55dangers of this night.
22:57For the love of your only Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
23:02Amen.
23:06Almighty God, who has given us grace at this time with one accord, to make our common supplications to you,
23:14and promises that when two or three are gathered together in your name, you will grant their requests.
23:22Fulfill now, O Lord, the desires and petitions of your servants, as may be most beneficial for them, granting us
23:32in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the world to come life everlasting.
23:40Amen.
23:43With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
23:49be with us all evermore.
23:52Amen.
