00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 93
05:00The Lord reigns.
05:03He is robed in majesty.
05:05The Lord is robed.
05:06He wears strength around his waist.
05:09Indeed, the world is established.
05:11It cannot be moved.
05:14Your throne has been secure from ancient times.
05:18You have always been king.
05:21The waves roar, O Lord.
05:23The waves roar.
05:24The waves roar and crash.
05:27Above the sound of the surging water and the mighty waves of the sea,
05:32the Lord sits enthroned in majesty.
05:36The rules you set down are completely reliable.
05:41Holiness aptly adorns your house, O Lord, for ever.
05:46Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
05:51As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
05:57Amen.
06:00Psalm 94
06:03O Lord, the God who avenges, O God who avenges, reveal your splendour.
06:10Rise up, O judge of the earth, pay back the prod.
06:15O Lord, how long will the wicked, how long will the wicked celebrate?
06:20They spew out threats and speak defiantly.
06:25All the evildoers boast.
06:28O Lord, they crush your people.
06:31They oppress the nation that belongs to you.
06:35They kill the widow and the resident foreigner.
06:38They murder the fatherless.
06:40Then they say, the Lord does not see this.
06:44The God of Jacob does not take notice of it.
06:48Take notice of this, you ignorant people.
06:51You fools, when will you ever understand?
06:56Does the one who makes the human ear not hear?
06:59Does the one who forms the human eye not see?
07:04Does the one who disciplines the nations not punish?
07:07He is the one who imparts knowledge to human beings.
07:12The Lord knows that people's thoughts are morally bankrupt.
07:18How blessed is the one whom you instruct, O Lord.
07:23The one whom you teach from your law in order to protect them from times of trouble until the wicked
07:31are destroyed.
07:34Certainly, the Lord does not forsake his people.
07:38He does not abandon the nation that belongs to him.
07:42For justice will prevail, and all the morally upright will be vindicated.
07:49Who will rise up to defend me against the wicked?
07:52Who will stand up for me against the evil doers?
07:56If the Lord had not helped me, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.
08:02If I say, my foot is slipping, your loyal love, O Lord, supports me.
08:08When worries threaten to overwhelm me, your soothing touch makes me happy.
08:15Cruel rulers are not your allies, those who make oppressive laws.
08:20They conspire against the blameless and condemn to death the innocent.
08:25But the Lord will protect me, and my God will shelter me.
08:30He will pay them back for their sin.
08:33He will destroy them because of their evil.
08:36The Lord our God will destroy them.
08:39Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
08:44As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
08:48World without end.
08:50Amen.
08:57The Book of Jeremiah, Chapter 28
09:02It came about in that year, when Zedekiah first became the king of Judah, in the fourth year of the
09:08fifth month,
09:09that Hananiah, the son of Azor the prophet, who came from Gibeon, said to Jeremiah in the house of the
09:15Lord,
09:15before the priests and all the people,
09:18These are the words of the Lord of armies, the God of Israel.
09:22By me, the yoke of the king of Babylon has been broken.
09:26In the space of two years, I will send back into this place all the vessels of the Lord's house,
09:32which Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, took away from this place to Babylon.
09:37And I will let Jeconiah, the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, come back to this place,
09:43with all the prisoners of Judah who went to Babylon, says the Lord.
09:48For I will have the yoke of the king of Babylon broken.
09:54Then the prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah before the priests and all the people
09:59who had come into the house of the Lord,
10:02So be it. May the Lord do so.
10:05May the Lord give effect to the words you have said,
10:08and let the vessels of the Lord's house and all the people who have been taken away
10:13come back from Babylon to this place.
10:17But still, give ear to the word which I say to you and to all the people.
10:23The prophets who were before me and before you from early times
10:27gave word to a number of countries and great kingdoms
10:30about war, destruction and disease.
10:36The prophet, whose words are of peace when his words come true,
10:41will be seen to be a prophet whom the Lord has sent.
10:47Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke from the neck of the prophet Jeremiah
10:51and it was broken by his hands and before all the people.
10:56Hananiah said,
10:57The Lord has said,
10:59Even so will I let the yoke of the king of Babylon
11:02be broken off the necks of all the nations
11:04in the space of two years.
11:07And the prophet Jeremiah went away.
11:13Then after the yoke had been broken off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah
11:17by Hananiah the prophet,
11:19the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah saying,
11:22Go, say to Hananiah, this is what the Lord has said.
11:27Yokes of wood have been broken by you,
11:30but in their place I will make yokes of iron.
11:34For the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said,
11:37I will put a yoke of iron on all the necks of these nations,
11:41making them servants to King Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon.
11:45They are to be his servants,
11:47and in addition I have given him the beasts of the field.
11:53Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet,
11:57Give ear, Hananiah, the Lord has not sent you,
12:00but you are making this people of their faith in something false.
12:05For this reason the Lord has said,
12:08See, I will send you away from the face of the earth.
12:11This year death will overtake you,
12:14because you said words against the Lord.
12:18So death came to Hananiah the prophet the same year,
12:21in the seventh month.
12:24This is the word of the Lord.
12:27Thanks be to God.
12:39Mary said,
12:40My soul exalts the Lord,
12:43and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
12:47because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
12:53For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
12:58because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
13:01and holy is his name.
13:04From generation to generation
13:06he is merciful to those who fear him.
13:10He has demonstrated power with his arm.
13:14He has scattered those whose pride wells up
13:17from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
13:20He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
13:23and has lifted up those of lowly position.
13:27He has filled the hungry with good things,
13:30and has sent the rich away empty.
13:33He has helped his servant Israel,
13:36remembering his mercy,
13:38as he promised to our ancestors,
13:41to Abraham,
13:42and to his descendants for ever.
13:46Glory be to the Father,
13:48and to the Son,
13:49and to the Holy Spirit,
13:51as it was in the beginning,
13:53is now,
13:54and ever shall be,
13:55world without end.
13:57Amen.
14:04The Gospel according to St. Matthew,
14:07chapter 26.
14:10When Jesus had come to the end of all these words,
14:13he said to his disciples,
14:14After two days is the Passover,
14:16and the Son of Man will be given up to the death of the cross.
14:21Then the chief priests and the rulers of the people
14:24came together
14:24in the house of the high priest,
14:26who was called Caiaphas,
14:29and they made designs together
14:30to take Jesus by some trick,
14:33and put him to death.
14:35But they said,
14:36Not while the feast is going on,
14:38for there may be trouble among the people.
14:41Now when Jesus was in Bethany,
14:44in the house of Simon the leper,
14:45there came to him a woman,
14:47having a bottle of perfume of great price.
14:50And she put the perfume on his head,
14:52when he was seated at the table.
14:55But when the disciples saw it,
14:57they were angry, saying,
14:58To what purpose is this waste?
15:01We might have got much money for this
15:03and given it to the poor.
15:05But Jesus, seeing it, said to them,
15:08Why do you trouble this woman?
15:10She has done a kind act to me.
15:12For the poor you will always have with you,
15:15but me you have not for ever.
15:18So in putting this perfume on my body,
15:21she did it to make me ready for my last resting place.
15:25Surely, I say to you,
15:26wherever this good news goes out in all the world,
15:29what this woman has done will be talked of in memory of her.
15:35Then one of the twelve,
15:36who was named Judas Iscariot,
15:39went to the chief priests and said,
15:41What will you give me if I give him up to you?
15:45The price was fixed at thirty pieces of silver.
15:49And from that time,
15:50he was waiting for a chance to give him into their hands.
15:55Now, on the first day of unleavened bread,
15:58the disciples came to Jesus, saying,
16:01Where are we to make ready for you to take the Passover meal?
16:04He said to them,
16:06Go into town to this man and say to him,
16:08The master says my time is near.
16:11I will keep the Passover at your house with my disciples.
16:16The disciples did as Jesus had said to them,
16:19and they made ready the Passover.
16:23Now, when the evening was come,
16:25he was seated at table with the twelve disciples.
16:28And while they were taking food,
16:30he said,
16:30Truly, I say to you,
16:32that one of you will be false to me.
16:35They were sad and said to him,
16:38One by one,
16:39is it I, Lord?
16:41And he made answer and said,
16:43He who puts his hand into the plate with me,
16:46the same will be false to me.
16:49The son of man goes,
16:51even as the writings say of him.
16:53But a curse is on the man
16:55through whom the son of man will be given up.
16:59It would have been well for that man
17:01had he never come into the world.
17:05Judas, who was false to him,
17:07answered and said,
17:08Is it I, Master?
17:10Jesus said to him,
17:12Yes.
17:14When they were taking food,
17:16Jesus took bread,
17:17and after blessing it,
17:18he gave the broken bread to the disciples
17:20and said,
17:21Take, eat.
17:22This is my body.
17:24He took a cup,
17:26and having given praise,
17:27he gave it to them,
17:28saying,
17:29Take all of it.
17:31For this is my blood of the Testament,
17:34which is given for men
17:35for the forgiveness of sins.
17:37I say to you
17:38that from now on
17:40I will not take
17:41of this fruit of the vine
17:42until the day
17:43I take it new with you
17:45in my Father's kingdom.
17:48And after a song of praise to God,
17:51they went out
17:52to the mountain of olives.
17:55This is the word of the Lord.
17:58Thanks be to God.
18:10Now, according to your word,
18:12Sovereign Lord,
18:14permit your servant
18:15to depart in peace.
18:17For my eyes have seen your salvation
18:20that you have prepared
18:21in the presence of all peoples,
18:25a light for revelation to the Gentiles
18:27and for glory to your people Israel.
18:33Glory be to the Father
18:34and to the Son
18:35and to the Holy Spirit,
18:37as it was in the beginning,
18:39is now and ever shall be,
18:41world without end.
18:43Amen.
18:48I believe in God,
18:50the Father Almighty,
18:52maker of heaven and earth,
18:54and in Jesus Christ,
18:55his only Son,
18:56our Lord,
18:58who was conceived
18:59by the Holy Spirit,
19:01born of the Virgin Mary,
19:03suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
19:06was crucified,
19:08dead,
19:08and buried.
19:09He descended into hell.
19:12On the third day,
19:13he rose again from the dead.
19:15He ascended into heaven
19:17and is sitting at the right hand
19:20of God the Father Almighty.
19:22From there,
19:23he shall come to judge
19:24the living and the dead.
19:27I believe in the Holy Spirit,
19:29the Holy Catholic Church,
19:31the communion of saints,
19:33the forgiveness of sins,
19:35the resurrection of the body,
19:37and the life everlasting.
19:40Amen.
19:46The Lord be with you
19:48and with your spirit.
19:52Let us pray.
19:56Lord, have mercy upon us.
19:59Christ, have mercy upon us.
20:04Lord, have mercy upon us.
20:10Our Father,
20:12who is in heaven,
20:14holy is your name.
20:16May your kingdom come.
20:19May your will be done
20:20on earth as it is in heaven.
20:23Give us this day
20:25our daily bread.
20:26Forgive us our trespasses,
20:28as we forgive those
20:30who trespass against us.
20:33lead us not into temptation,
20:35but deliver us from evil.
20:38For yours is the kingdom,
20:41the power and the glory,
20:43for ever and ever.
20:46Amen.
20:50O Lord, show your mercy upon us
20:53and grant us your salvation.
20:59O Lord,
21:00protect and guide those
21:01in authority over us
21:04and mercifully hear us
21:06when we call upon you.
21:10Endue your ministers
21:11with righteousness
21:12and make your chosen people
21:16joyful.
21:18O Lord, save your people
21:21and bless your inheritance.
21:26give peace in our time,
21:29O Lord,
21:31because there is none other
21:32who fights for us
21:33but only you,
21:34O God.
21:37O God, make clean
21:38our hearts within us
21:41and take not
21:43your Holy Spirit
21:44from us.
21:53Let us pray.
21:56O God,
21:57who declares
21:58your almighty power
21:59most chiefly
22:00in showing mercy
22:00and pity,
22:03mercifully grant to us
22:04such a measure
22:05of your grace
22:06that we,
22:07running the way
22:08of your commandments,
22:09may obtain
22:10your gracious promises
22:12and be made sharers
22:14in your heavenly treasure.
22:15Through Jesus Christ,
22:17our Lord.
22:19Amen.
22:27O God,
22:28from whom
22:29all holy desires,
22:31all good counsels
22:33and all just works
22:34proceed,
22:35give to your servants
22:37that peace
22:37which the world
22:39cannot give,
22:40that our hearts
22:42may be set
22:42to obey
22:43your commandments
22:44and also
22:45that,
22:46by you,
22:47we,
22:48being defended
22:49from the fear
22:50of our enemies,
22:51may pass our time
22:52in rest
22:53and quietness.
22:55Through the merits
22:56of Jesus Christ,
22:58our Saviour.
22:59Amen.
23:04Lighten our darkness,
23:05we beseech you,
23:06O Lord,
23:07and by your great mercy
23:09defend us all
23:10from perils
23:11and dangers
23:12of this night.
23:14For the love
23:15of your only Son,
23:16our Saviour,
23:17Jesus Christ.
23:19Amen.
23:23Almighty God,
23:24who has given us grace
23:25at this time
23:26with one accord
23:27to make our common
23:29supplications to you
23:31and promises
23:32that when two or three
23:33are gathered together
23:34in your name,
23:36you will grant
23:37their requests.
23:39Fulfill now,
23:41O Lord,
23:42the desires
23:42and petitions
23:43of your servants,
23:45as may be most
23:46beneficial for them,
23:49granting us
23:49in this world
23:50knowledge of your truth
23:52and in the world
23:54to come
23:54life everlasting.
23:57Amen.
24:00With the grace
24:01of our Lord Jesus Christ
24:02and the love of God
24:04and the fellowship
24:05of the Holy Spirit
24:06be with us all
24:08evermore.
24:09Amen.
24:10Amen.
