00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:50Give us this day our daily bread.
03:53Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 106
05:00Praise the Lord.
05:02Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, and his loyal love endures.
05:07Who can adequately recount the Lord's mighty acts, or relate all his praiseworthy deeds?
05:15How blessed are those who promote justice, and do what is right, all the time.
05:22Remember me, O Lord, when you show favour to your people.
05:25Pay attention to me when you deliver, so that I may see the prosperity of your chosen ones.
05:32Rejoice along with your nation, and boast along with the people who belong to you.
05:38We have sinned like our ancestors.
05:41We have done wrong.
05:42We have done evil.
05:44Our ancestors in Egypt failed to appreciate your miraculous deeds.
05:50They failed to remember your many acts of loyal love.
05:54And they rebelled at the sea, by the Red Sea.
05:58Yet, he delivered them for the sake of his reputation, that he might reveal his power.
06:04He shouted at the Red Sea, and dried up.
06:08He led them through the deep water, as if it were a desert.
06:11He delivered them from the power of the one who hated them.
06:16Rescued them from the power of the enemy.
06:20The water covered their enemies.
06:22Not even one of them survived.
06:25They believed his promises.
06:28They sang praises to him.
06:30They quickly forgot what he had done.
06:34They did not wait for his instructions.
06:37In the wilderness, they had an insatiable craving for meat.
06:41They challenged God in the wastelands.
06:45He granted their request, then struck them.
06:49With a disease.
06:52In the camp, they resented Moses and Aaron, the Lord's holy priest.
06:58The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan.
07:01It engulfed the group led by Abiram.
07:05Fire burned their group.
07:08The flames scorched the wicked.
07:11They made an image of a calf at Horeb and worshipped a metal idol.
07:15They traded their majestic God for the image of an ox that eats grass.
07:21They rejected the God who delivered them.
07:24The one who performed great deeds in Egypt.
07:27Amazing feats in the land of Ham.
07:30Mighty acts by the Red Sea.
07:34He threatened to destroy them.
07:37But Moses, his chosen one, interceded with him and turned back his destructive anger.
07:44They rejected the fruitful land.
07:47They did not believe his promise.
07:50They grumbled in their tents.
07:52They did not obey the Lord.
07:54So he made a solemn vow that he would make them die in the wilderness.
07:59Make their descendants die among the nations and scattered them amongst foreign lands.
08:05They worshipped Baal of Peor and ate sacrifices offered to the dead.
08:11They made the Lord angry by their actions and a plague broke out among them.
08:19Phinehas took a stand and intervened and the plague subsided.
08:24This was credited to him as a righteous act for all generations to come.
08:31They made him angry by the waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered because of them.
08:37For they aroused his temple, and he spoke rashly.
08:42They did not destroy the nations as the Lord had commanded them to do.
08:47They mixed in with the nations and learnt their ways.
08:51They worshipped their idols, which became a snare to them.
08:55They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons.
08:59They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan.
09:07The land was polluted by bloodshed.
09:11They were defiled by their deeds and unfaithful in their actions.
09:17So the Lord was angry with his people and despised the people who belonged to him.
09:22He handed them over to the nations, and those who hated them ruled over them.
09:29Their enemies oppressed them.
09:31They were subject to their authority.
09:35Many times he delivered them, but they had a rebellious attitude and degraded themselves by their sin.
09:43Yet he took notice of their distress when he heard their cry for help.
09:49He remembered his covenant with them, and relented because of his great loyal love.
09:55He caused all their conquerors to have pity on them.
10:11The Lord God of Israel deserves praise, in the future and for evermore.
10:17Let all the people say, we agree, praise the Lord.
10:24Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
10:30is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
10:35Amen.
10:42The prophet Jeremiah chapter 34
10:47The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon,
10:52and all his army, and all the kingdoms of the earth which were under his rule,
10:58all the people who were fighting against Jerusalem and its towns, saying,
11:04The Lord, the God of Israel, has said,
11:07Go and say to Zedekiah king of Judah,
11:10This is what the Lord has said,
11:13See, I will give this town into the hands of the king of Babylon,
11:17and he will have it burnt with fire.
11:20You will not get away from him, but will certainly be taken and given into his hands.
11:27And you will see the king of Babylon, eye to eye,
11:31and he will talk with you, mouth to mouth,
11:34and you will go to Babylon.
11:38But give ear to the word of the Lord, Zedekiah king of Judah.
11:42This is what the Lord has said about you.
11:46Death will not come to you by the sword.
11:50You will come to your end in peace.
11:53And such burnings as they made for your fathers, the earlier kings before you,
11:57will be made for you.
11:59And they will be weeping for you and saying,
12:02O Lord, but for I have said the word, says the Lord.
12:09Then Jeremiah the prophet said these things to Zedekiah king of Jerusalem,
12:14when the army of the king of Babylon was fighting against Jerusalem
12:18and against all the towns of Judah, which had not been taken,
12:22against Lachish and against Azekah,
12:25for these were the last remaining of the walled towns of Judah.
12:31The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord
12:34after King Zedekiah had made an agreement with all the people in Jerusalem
12:40to give news in public that the servants were to be set free,
12:45that every man was to let his Hebrew manservant
12:48and his Hebrew servant girl go free,
12:51so that no one may make use of a Jew his countryman as a servant.
12:57This was done by all the rulers and the people
12:59who had taken part in the agreement,
13:02and everyone let his manservant and his servant girl go free,
13:07not to be used as servants any longer.
13:12They did so and let them go,
13:15but later they took them back again
13:18as servants and servant girls
13:20that they had let go free
13:22and put them again under the yoke as servants and servant girls.
13:28For this reason the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
13:32The Lord, the God of Israel, has said,
13:35I made an agreement with your fathers
13:37on the day I took them from Egypt
13:39out of the prison house, saying,
13:43At the end of seven years every man is to let go
13:46his countryman who is a Hebrew,
13:49who has become yours for a price
13:51and has been your servant for six years.
13:55You are to let him go free.
13:58But your fathers gave no attention and did not listen.
14:03Now, turning away from evil,
14:06you had done what was right in my eyes,
14:08giving a public undertaking
14:10for every man to make his neighbour free.
14:13And you had made an agreement before me
14:15in the house which is named by my name.
14:20But again you have put shame on my name,
14:23and you have taken back every one
14:25his man-servant and servant-girl
14:28whom you previously sent away free.
14:31And you have put them back under the yoke again
14:34to be your servants and servant-girls.
14:38And so the Lord has said,
14:40You have not listened to me
14:42and undertaken publicly
14:44every man to let loose
14:46his countryman and his neighbour.
14:48Look, I undertake to let loose
14:51against you the sword and disease
14:53and need of food.
14:54I will send you wandering
14:56among all the kingdoms of the earth.
14:59I will give the men
15:00who have gone against my agreement
15:02and did not give effect
15:03to the words of the agreement
15:05which they made before me
15:06when the ox was cut in two
15:09and they went between the parts of it.
15:11The rulers of Judah
15:13and the rulers of Jerusalem,
15:15the unsecked servants,
15:17the priests
15:18and all the people of the land
15:20who went between the parts of the ox.
15:21Even these I will give up
15:23into the hands of their haters
15:25and into the hands of those
15:27who have designs against their lives.
15:31Their dead bodies will become food
15:33for the birds of heaven
15:34and the beasts of the earth.
15:38Zedekiah king of Judah
15:39and his rulers
15:40I will give into the hands
15:42of their haters
15:43and into the hands of those
15:45who have designs against their lives
15:48and into the hands
15:49of the king of Babylon's army
15:51which has gone away from you.
15:54See, I will give orders,
15:56says the Lord
15:57and make them come back
15:58to this town
15:59and they will make war on it
16:01and take it
16:02and burn it with fire
16:04and I will make the towns of Judah
16:06laid waste
16:07and unpeopled.
16:11This is the word of the Lord.
16:13Thanks be to God.
16:26Mary said
16:27My soul exalts the Lord
16:30and my spirit has begun to rejoice
16:32in God my Saviour
16:34because he has looked
16:36upon the humble state
16:38of his servant.
16:40For from now on
16:42all generations
16:43will call me blessed
16:44because he who is mighty
16:46has done great things for me
16:48and holy is his name.
16:51From generation to generation
16:53he is merciful
16:55to those who fear him.
16:57He has demonstrated power
17:00with his arm.
17:01He has scattered those
17:03whose pride wells up
17:04from the sheer arrogance
17:05of their hearts.
17:07He has brought down
17:09the mighty from their thrones
17:10and has lifted up
17:11those of lowly position.
17:14He has filled the hungry
17:15with good things
17:17and has sent the rich
17:18away empty.
17:20He has helped
17:21his servant Israel
17:23remembering his mercy
17:25as he promised
17:26to our ancestors,
17:28to Abraham
17:29and to his descendants
17:31for ever.
17:33glory be to the Father
17:35and to the Son
17:36and to the Holy Spirit
17:37as it was in the beginning
17:39is now
17:41and ever shall be
17:42world without end.
17:44Amen.
17:52The Gospel according to
17:54Saint Matthew
17:54chapter 27
17:58When it was morning
17:59all the chief priests
18:00and those in authority
18:02took thought together
18:03with the purpose
18:05of putting Jesus to death.
18:07They put cords on him
18:08and took him away
18:09giving him up
18:11to Pilate the ruler.
18:15Then Judas
18:16who was false to him
18:17seeing that he was
18:19to be put to death
18:20in his regret
18:21took back
18:22the thirty pieces of silver
18:24to the chief priests
18:25and those in authority
18:27saying
18:28I have done wrong
18:29in giving into your hands
18:30an upright man.
18:33But they said
18:34what is that to us?
18:36It's your business.
18:39He put down the silver
18:40in the temple
18:41and went out
18:42and hanged himself.
18:47The chief priests
18:48took the silver
18:49and said
18:50It is not right
18:51to put it in the temple store
18:52for it is blood money.
18:55And so they made a decision
18:57to get with the silver
18:58the potter's field
18:59as a place
19:00for the dead
19:01of other countries.
19:03And for this cause
19:04that field was named.
19:06The field of blood
19:08to this day.
19:11Then came true
19:12that which was said
19:13by Jeremiah the prophet
19:15and they took
19:16the thirty pieces
19:17of silver
19:17the price of him
19:19who was valued
19:20by the children
19:20of Israel
19:22and they gave them
19:23for the potter's field
19:25as I had word
19:26from the Lord.
19:32Jesus was before Pilate
19:34who put a question
19:35to him
19:35Are you the king
19:37of the Jews?
19:40Jesus replied
19:41You say so.
19:44But when the chief priests
19:45and those in authority
19:46made statements
19:48against him
19:48he did not reply.
19:52Pilate asked him
19:54Do you give no attention
19:56to what the witnesses
19:57say against you?
20:00Again Jesus gave no reply
20:02not even a word
20:04so that the ruler
20:06was greatly surprised.
20:09Now at the feast
20:10it was the tradition
20:12for Pilate
20:13to let free
20:15to the people
20:15one prisoner
20:16of their selection.
20:19they then had
20:20an important prisoner
20:21whose name was Barabbas
20:23so when they had
20:24come together
20:25Pilate said to them
20:26Who will you have
20:27Barabbas or Jesus
20:29who is named Christ?
20:31for he saw
20:32that it was
20:32for envy
20:33that they had
20:34given him up
20:36but while he was
20:37on the judge's seat
20:38his wife
20:39sent to him
20:40saying
20:40Have nothing to do
20:42with that upright man
20:44for I have had
20:45much trouble
20:46this day
20:46in a dream
20:47because of him
20:50Meanwhile
20:51the chief priests
20:51and those in authority
20:52had got the people
20:53to make requests
20:54for Barabbas
20:56and for Jesus
20:57to be put to death
21:00So when Pilate
21:02asked them
21:03and said
21:04Which of the two
21:05is it your pleasure
21:06that I let go free?
21:07They said
21:09Barabbas
21:11Pilate replied
21:11What then
21:12am I to do
21:13with this Jesus
21:14who is named Christ?
21:16And they said
21:17Let him be put to death
21:19on the cross
21:22Pilate replied
21:23Why
21:23what evil
21:24has he done?
21:26But the crowd
21:27shouted out
21:28even louder
21:29To the cross
21:30with him
21:34So when Pilate
21:35saw that he was
21:36able to do nothing
21:37but that trouble
21:39was starting to brew
21:40he took water
21:42and washing his hands
21:43before the people
21:44said
21:44The blood of this
21:46upright man
21:47is not on my hands
21:48You are responsible
21:51And all the people
21:53made answer
21:53and said
21:54Let his blood
21:55be on us
21:56and on our children
21:59Pilate
22:00Pilate
22:00allowed
22:00Barabbas
22:01to go free
22:02But after having
22:04Jesus whipped
22:04he gave him up
22:06to be put to death
22:07on the cross
22:09This is the word
22:10of the Lord
22:12Thanks be to God
22:24Now according to your word
22:26Sovereign Lord
22:27Permit your servant
22:29to depart in peace
22:30For my eyes
22:32have seen your salvation
22:34that you have prepared
22:36in the presence
22:36of all peoples
22:38A light
22:39for revelation
22:40to the Gentiles
22:42and for glory
22:43to your people

23:07and earth
23:08and in Jesus Christ

23:12who was conceived
23:13by the Holy Spirit
23:14born of the Virgin Mary
23:17suffered
23:17unto Pontius Pilate
23:20was crucified
23:21dead
23:22and buried
23:23he descended
23:25into hell
23:25on the third day
23:27he rose again
23:28from the dead
23:29he ascended
23:31into heaven
23:31and is sitting
23:33at the right hand
23:34of God
23:34the Father Almighty
23:36from there
23:37he shall come
23:38to judge
23:38the living
23:39and the dead
