00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:50Give us this day our daily bread.
03:53Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 22
05:00My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?
05:04I groan in prayer, but help seems far away.
05:10My God, I cry out during the day, but you do not answer.
05:14And during the night, my prayers do not let up.
05:18You are holy.
05:19You sit as king, receiving the praises of Israel.
05:24In you, our ancestors trusted.
05:26They trusted in you, and you rescued them.
05:30To you, they cried out, and they were saved.
05:33In you, they trusted, and they were not disappointed.
05:37But I am a worm, not a man.
05:40People insult me, and despise me.
05:43All who see me taunt me.
05:45They mock me, and shake their heads.
05:49They say, commit yourself to the Lord.
05:52Let the Lord rescue him.
05:54Let the Lord deliver him, for he delights in him.
05:59Yes, you are the one who brought me out from the womb,
06:02and made me feel secure on my mother's breast.
06:07I have been dependent on you since birth.
06:10From the time I came out of my mother's womb,
06:13you have been my God.
06:15Do not remain far away from me, for trouble is near,
06:18and I have no one to help me.
06:22Many bulls surround me.
06:25Powerful bulls of Bashan hem me in.
06:29They open their mouths to devour me,
06:31like a roaring lion that rips its prey.
06:35My strength drains away like water.
06:38All my bones are dislocated.
06:41My heart is like wax.
06:43It melts away inside me.
06:46The roof of my mouth is as dry as a piece of pottery.
06:51My tongue sticks to my gums.
06:53You set me in the dust of death.
06:57Yes, wild dogs surround me.
07:00A gang of evil men crowd around me.
07:02Like a lion, they pin my hands and feet.
07:07I can count all my bones.
07:09My enemies are gloating over me in triumph.
07:13They are dividing up my clothes among themselves.
07:16They are rolling dice for my garments.
07:20But you, O Lord, do not remain far away.
07:24You are my source of strength.
07:26Hurry and help me.
07:29Deliver me from the sword.
07:31Save my life from the claws of the wild dogs.
07:36Rescue me from the mouth of the lion
07:38and from the horns of the wild oxen.
07:40You have answered me.
07:43I will declare your name to my countrymen.
07:46In the middle of the assembly, I will praise you.
07:50You loyal followers of the Lord, praise him.
07:54All you descendants of Jacob, honor him.
07:57All you descendants of Israel, stand in awe of him.
08:02For he did not despise or detest the suffering of the oppressed.
08:06He did not ignore him.
08:08When he cried out to him, he responded.
08:12You are the reason I offer praise in the great assembly.
08:16I will fulfill my promises before the Lord's loyal followers.
08:20Let the oppressed eat and be filled.
08:23Let those who seek his help praise the Lord.
08:27May you live forever.
08:30Let all the people of the earth acknowledge the Lord and turn to him.
08:34Let all the nations worship you.
08:37For the Lord is king and rules over the nations.
08:42All of the thriving people of the earth will join the celebration and worship.
08:46All those who are descending into the grave will bow before him,
08:51including those who cannot preserve their lives.
08:56A whole generation will serve him.
08:58They will tell the next generation about the Lord.
09:03They will come and tell about his saving deeds.
09:06They will tell a future generation what he has accomplished.
09:11Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
09:16as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
09:19world without end.
09:22Amen.
09:25Psalm 23
09:28The Lord is my shepherd.
09:31I lack nothing.
09:33He takes me to lush pastures.
09:35He leads me to refreshing water.
09:38He restores my strength.
09:40He leads me down the right paths for the sake of his reputation.
09:44Even when I must walk through the darkest valley,
09:48I fear no danger.
09:50For you are with me.
09:52Your rod and your staff reassure me.
09:56You prepare a feast before me in plain sight of my enemies.
10:00You refresh my head with oil.
10:03My cup is completely full.
10:06Surely your goodness and faithfulness will pursue me all my days,
10:10and I will live in the Lord's house for the rest of my life.
10:16Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
10:20as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
10:25world without end.
10:27Amen.
10:34The book of Ecclesiastes chapter 4
10:38Again I saw all the cruel things which are done under the sun.
10:43There was the weeping of those who have evil done to them,
10:47but they had no comforter.
10:49And from the hands of the evildoers there went out power,
10:52but they had no comforter.
10:55So my praise was for the dead who have gone to their death,
10:58more than for the living who still have life.
11:02Yes, happier than the dead or the living seemed,
11:05he who has not ever been,
11:08who has not seen the evil which is done under the sun.
11:13I saw that the cause of all the work
11:15and of everything which is done well
11:17was man's envy of his neighbour.
11:21This again is no purpose and a desire for wind.
11:25The foolish man folding his hands
11:28takes the flesh of his body for food.
11:31One hand full of rest is better than two hands full of trouble
11:35and the desire for wind.
11:38Then I came back and I saw an example
11:40of what is to no purpose under the sun.
11:43It is one who is by himself,
11:46without a second,
11:47without a son or a brother.
11:50But there is no end to all his work
11:52and he never has enough wealth.
11:55For whom then am I working
11:56and keeping myself from pleasure?
11:59This again is to no purpose and a bitter work.
12:03Two are better than one
12:04because they have a good reward for their work.
12:08If one has a fall,
12:10the other will give him a hand.
12:12But unhappy is the man who is by himself
12:15because he has no helper.
12:18So again,
12:19if two are sleeping together,
12:21they are warm.
12:22But how may one be warm by himself?
12:25Two attacked by one would be safe
12:28and three cords twisted together
12:29are not quickly broken.
12:33A young man who is poor and wise
12:35is better than a king
12:36who is old and foolish
12:37and will not be guided
12:39by the wisdom of others.
12:42Out of a prison,
12:43a young man comes to be king,
12:45though by birth he was only a poor man
12:47in the kingdom.
12:49I saw all the living under the sun
12:51around the young man
12:52who was to be the ruler
12:54in place of the king.
12:56There was no end of all the people,
12:58of all those whose head he was.
13:01But they who came later
13:03will have no delight in him.
13:05This again is to know purpose
13:08and desire for wind.
13:11This is the word of the Lord.
13:13Thanks be to God.
13:28Mary said
13:29My soul exalts the Lord
13:32and my spirit has begun to rejoice
13:34in God my Saviour
13:36because he has looked
13:38upon the humble state of his servant.
13:42For from now on
13:44all generations will call me blessed
13:46because he who is mighty
13:48has done great things for me
13:50and holy is his name.
13:53From generation to generation
13:55he is merciful to those
13:58who fear him.
13:59He has demonstrated power
14:02with his arm.
14:03He has scattered those
14:05whose pride wells up
14:06from the sheer arrogance
14:07of their hearts.
14:09He has brought down
14:11the mighty from their thrones
14:12and has lifted up
14:13those of lowly position.
14:16He has filled the hungry
14:17with good things
14:19and has sent the rich
14:20away empty.
14:22He has helped
14:23his servant Israel
14:25remembering his mercy
14:27as he promised
14:28to our ancestors
14:29to Abraham
14:31and to his descendants
14:33for ever.
14:35Glory be to the Father
14:37and to the Son
14:38and to the Holy Spirit
14:39as it was in the beginning
14:41is now and ever shall be
14:44world without end.
14:46Amen.
14:53The Gospel according to
14:54Saint Matthew
14:55chapters 18 and 19
14:59Then Peter came
15:00and said to him
15:01Lord, how many times
15:03may my brother do wrong
15:05against me
15:05and I give him forgiveness?
15:08Seven times?
15:10Jesus said to him
15:12I tell you not
15:14till seven times
15:15but till seventy
15:17times seven.
15:19For this reason
15:20the kingdom of heaven
15:21is like a king
15:21who went over
15:22his accounts
15:23with his servants.
15:25At the start
15:26one came to him
15:27who was in debt
15:28for ten thousand talents.
15:30Because he was not able
15:32to make payment
15:33his Lord gave orders
15:35for him
15:35and his wife
15:36and sons
15:37and daughters
15:37and all he had
15:39to be given
15:40for money
15:40and payment
15:41to be made.
15:43So the servant
15:44went down on his face
15:45and gave him worship
15:46saying
15:46Lord, give me time
15:48to make a payment
15:49and I will give you all.
15:52The Lord of that servant
15:54being moved with pity
15:55let him go
15:56and made him free
15:57of the debt.
16:00But that servant
16:01went out
16:01and meeting
16:02one of the other servants
16:03who was in debt
16:05to him
16:05for a hundred pennies
16:07took him by the throat
16:08saying
16:09pay your debt.
16:11So that servant
16:12went down on his face
16:13requesting him
16:14and saying
16:15give me time
16:16and I will make payment
16:18but he would not.
16:19He went
16:20and put him in prison
16:21until he had made payment
16:23of the debt.
16:25So when the other servants
16:27saw what was done
16:28they were very sad
16:29and came
16:30and gave word
16:31to their Lord
16:32of what had been done.
16:34his Lord
16:35sent for him
16:35and said
16:36you evil servant
16:38I made you free
16:39of all that debts
16:40because of your request
16:42to me.
16:43Was it not right
16:44for you to have mercy
16:45on the other servant
16:46even as I
16:48had mercy
16:49on you?
16:51His Lord
16:52was angry
16:52and put him
16:54in the hands
16:54of those
16:55who would give him
16:56punishment
16:56until he paid off
16:58all the debts
17:00so will my father
17:02in heaven
17:02do to you
17:03if you do not
17:04everyone
17:06from your hearts
17:07give forgiveness
17:08to his brother.
17:11And it came about
17:12that after saying
17:13these words
17:14Jesus went away
17:15from Galilee
17:16and went into
17:17the other parts
17:18of Judea
17:19on the other side
17:20of the Jordan.
17:21A great number
17:23went after him
17:24and he made them
17:25well there.
17:27This is the word
17:28of the Lord.
17:30Thanks be to God.
17:40Now according
17:41to your word
17:42Sovereign Lord
17:43permit your servant
17:45to depart in peace
17:46for my eyes

17:49your salvation

17:52in the presence
17:52of all peoples

17:55for revelation
17:56to the Gentiles

17:59to your people
