00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
04:10Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:56Psalm 41
04:58How blessed is the one who treats the poor properly.
05:01When trouble comes, may the Lord deliver him.
05:06May the Lord protect him, and save his life.
05:09May he be blessed in the land.
05:13Do not turn him over to his enemies.
05:16The Lord supports him on his sickbed.
05:19You have healed him from his illness.
05:23As for me, I said, O Lord, have mercy on me.
05:28Heal me, for I have sinned against you.
05:31My enemies ask this cruel question abet me.
05:35When will he finally die and be forgotten?
05:40When someone comes to visit, he pretends to be friendly.
05:45He thinks of ways to defame me, and then he leaves and slanders me.
05:51All who hate me whisper insults abet me to one another.
05:56They plan ways to harm me.
05:59They say, an awful disease overwhelms me, and now that he is bedridden, he will never recover.
06:07Even my close friend, whom I trusted, he who shares meals with me, has turned against me.
06:14As for you, O Lord, have mercy on me, and raise me up, so I can pay them back.
06:21By this, I know that you are pleased with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.
06:28As for me, you uphold me, because of my integrity.
06:33You allow me permanent access to your presence.
06:38The Lord God of Israel deserves praise in the future and forevermore.
06:43We agree. We agree.
06:48Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
06:53as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
06:59Amen.
07:03Psalm 42
07:06As a deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God.
07:13I thirst for God, for the living God, I say.
07:16When will I be able to go and appear in God's presence?
07:21I cannot eat.
07:22I weep day and night.
07:25All day long, they say to me, where is your God?
07:29I will remember and weep, for I was once walking along with a great throng to the temple of God,
07:36shouting and giving thanks along with the crowd as we celebrated the holy festival.
07:43Why are you depressed, O my soul?
07:46Why are you upset? Wait for God.
07:49I will again give my thanks to God for his saving intervention.
07:55I am depressed, so I will pray to you while in the region of the upper Jordan, from Hermon to
08:02Mount Mizar.
08:04One deep stream calls out to another, at the sound of your waterfalls.
08:09All your billows and waves overwhelm me.
08:15By day the Lord decrees his loyal love, and by night he gives me a song, a prayer to the
08:21God of my life.
08:24I will pray to God, my high ridge, why do you ignore me?
08:29Why must I walk around mourning, because my enemies oppress me?
08:35My enemies' taunts cut into me to the bone, as they say to me all day long, where is your
08:41God?
08:43Why are you depressed, O my soul?
08:47Why are you upset?
08:49Wait for God, for I will again give thanks to my God for his saving intervention.
08:58Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
09:02as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
09:08Amen.
09:11Psalm 43
09:15Vindicate me, O God, fight for me against an ungodly nation.
09:20Deliver me from deceitful and evil men.
09:24For you are the God who shelters me.
09:27Why do you reject me?
09:29Why must I walk around mourning, because my enemies oppress me?
09:34Reveal your light and your faithfulness.
09:37They will lead me, they will escort me back to your holy hill, and to the place where you live.
09:45Then I will go to the altar of God, to the God who gives me ecstatic joy, so that I
09:52express my thanks to you, O God, my God, with a harp.
09:59Why are you depressed, O my soul?
10:02Why are you upset?
10:05Wait for God, for I will again give thanks to my God for his saving intervention.
10:13Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
10:20is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
10:24Amen.
10:25Amen.
10:33The prophet Jeremiah, chapter 1.
10:38The words of Jeremiah, the son of Hilkiah, of the priests who were in Anathoth, in the land of Benjamin,
10:46to whom the word of the Lord came in the days of Josiah, the son of Ammon, king of Judah,
10:51in the thirteenth year of his rule.
10:56It came again in the days of Jehoiakim, the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, up to the eleventh year
11:02of Zedekiah, son of Josiah, king of Judah, until Jerusalem was taken away in the fifth month.
11:12Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Before you were formed in the body of your mother,
11:17I had knowledge of you.
11:20Before your birth, I made you holy.
11:23I have given you the work of being a prophet to the nations.
11:29Then I said, O Lord, see, I have no power of words, for I am but a child.
11:37But the Lord said to me, Do not say, I am but a child, for wherever I send you, you
11:43are to go.
11:45Whatever I give you orders to say, you are to say.
11:49Have no fear because of them, for I am with you to keep you safe, says the Lord.
11:56Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth, and said to me, See, I have put my
12:02words in your mouth.
12:04This day I have put you over the nations and over the kingdoms, for uprooting and smashing down, for destruction
12:11and overturning, for building up and for planting.
12:18Again, the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Jeremiah, what do you see?
12:23And I said, I see a branch of an almond tree.
12:28And the Lord said to me, You have seen well, for I keep watch over my word to give effect
12:34to it.
12:38The word of the Lord came to me a second time, saying, What do you see?
12:45And I said, I see a boiling pot, and its face is from the north.
12:52Then the Lord said to me, Out of the north evil will come, bursting upon all the people of the
12:58land.
12:59For see, I will send for all the families of the kingdoms of the north, says the Lord.
13:04And they will come, everyone placing his high seat at the way into Jerusalem, and against its walls on every
13:12side, and against all the towns of Judah.
13:16I will give my decision against them on account of all their evil doing, because they have given me up,
13:22burning perfumes to other gods, and worshipping the works of their hands.
13:28So make yourself ready.
13:30Go, say to them everything I give you orders to say.
13:34Do not be overcome by fear of them, or I will send fear on you before them.
13:40For see, this day I have made you a walled town, and an iron pillar, walls of brass, against all
13:49the land, against the kings of Judah, against its captains, against its priests, and against the people of the land.
13:56They will be fighting against you, but they will not overcome you, for I am with you, says the Lord,
14:02to give you salvation.
14:06This is the word of the Lord.
14:09Thanks be to God.
14:22Mary said,
14:24My soul exalts the Lord, and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour, because he has looked
14:32upon the humble state of his servant.
14:36For from now on all generations will call me blessed, because he who is mighty has done great things for
14:44me, and holy is his name.
14:47From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
14:54He has demonstrated power with his arm.
14:57He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
15:03He has brought down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up those of lowly position.
15:10He has filled the hungry with good things, and has sent the rich away empty.
15:16He has helped his servant Israel, remembering his mercy, as he promised to our ancestors, to Abraham, and to his
15:26descendants for ever.
15:29Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
15:36is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
15:40Amen.
15:54When they were near Jerusalem, and had come to Bethpage, to the mountain of olives, Jesus sent two disciples, saying
16:02to them,
16:02Go into the town in front of you, and straight away you will see an ass with a cord around
16:08her neck, and a young one with her.
16:12Let them loose, and come with them to me.
16:16If anyone says anything to you, say, The Lord has needed them, and straight away he will send them with
16:23you.
16:24Now this took place, so that the words of the prophet might come true.
16:29Say to the daughter of Zion, See, your king comes to you, gentle, and seated on an ass, and on
16:37a young ass.
16:40The disciples went and did as Jesus had given them orders, and got the ass and the young one, and
16:47put their clothing on them, and he took his seat on it.
16:52All the people put their clothing down in the way, and others got branches from the trees, and put them
16:58in the way.
17:00Those who went before him, and those who came after, gave loud cries, saying, Glory to the Son of David,
17:07a blessing on him, who comes in the name of the Lord.
17:13Glory in the highest.
17:16When he came into Jerusalem, all the tone was moved, saying,
17:20Who is this?
17:23And the people said,
17:24This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth of Galilee.
17:30Jesus went into the temple, and sent out all who were trading there, overturning the tables of the money changers,
17:37and the seats of those trading in doves.
17:41He said to them,
17:43He said to them,
17:43It is in the writings, my house is to be named a house of prayer, but you are making it
17:48a whole of thieves.
17:50The blind and the broken in body came to him in the temple, and he made them well.
17:58But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the works of power, he did, and the children crying out
18:04in the temple, Glory to the Son of David, they were angry and said to him,
18:10Have you any idea what they are saying?
18:14Jesus said to them,
18:16Yes, have you not read the scriptures?
18:20From the lips of children and babies at the breast, you have made your praise complete.
18:28Then he went away from there, and went out of the town to Bethany, and stayed there for the night.
18:36In the morning when he was coming back into the town, he had a desire for food.
18:42Seeing a fig tree by the wayside, he came to it, and saw nothing on it but leaves only.
18:48He said,
18:50Let there be no fruit from you this time forward for ever.
18:55Straight away the fig tree became dry and dead.
19:00When the disciples saw it, they were surprised, saying,
19:04How did the fig tree become dry in so short a time?
19:10Jesus in answer said to them,
19:13Truly I say to you, if you have faith without any doubt,
19:17not only may you do what has been done to the fig tree,
19:20but even if you say to this mountain,
19:23be taken up and put in the sea,
19:26it will be done.
19:28All things, whatever you make request for in prayer,
19:32in faith,
19:34you will get.
19:36This is the word of the Lord.
19:39Thanks be to God.
19:52Now, according to your word, Sovereign Lord,
19:56permit your servant to depart in peace.
19:59For my eyes have seen your salvation,
20:02that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
20:06a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
20:10and for glory to your people Israel.
20:15Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
20:19as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
20:23world without end.
20:25Amen.
20:30I believe in God the Father Almighty,
20:34maker of heaven and earth,
20:36and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
20:39who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
20:43born of the Virgin Mary,
20:45suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
20:48was crucified, dead, and buried.
20:51He descended into hell.
20:54On the third day he rose again from the dead.
20:57He ascended into heaven,
20:59and is sitting at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
21:04From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
21:09I believe in the Holy Spirit,
21:11the holy Catholic Church,
21:13the communion of saints,
21:15the forgiveness of sins,
21:17the resurrection of the body,
21:19and the life everlasting.
21:22Amen.
21:27The Lord be with you,
21:30and with your spirit.
21:34Let us pray.
21:38Lord, have mercy upon us.
21:41Christ, have mercy upon us.
21:46Lord, have mercy upon us.
21:52Our Father, who is in heaven,
21:56holy is your name.
21:58May your kingdom come.
22:01May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
22:05Give us this day our daily bread.
22:08Forgive us our trespasses,
22:10as we forgive those who trespass against us.
22:15Lead us not into temptation,
22:17but deliver us from evil.
22:20For yours is the kingdom,
22:23the power and the glory,
22:25for ever and ever.
22:27Amen.
22:32O Lord, show your mercy upon us,
22:36and grant us your salvation.
22:41Protect and guide those in authority over us,
22:46and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
22:51Endure your ministers with righteousness,
22:55and make your chosen people joyful.
23:00O Lord, save your people,
23:04and bless your inheritance.
23:08Give peace in our time,
23:11O Lord,
23:12because there is none other who fights for us,
23:15but only you,
23:16O God.
23:19O God, make clean our hearts within us,
23:23and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
23:35Let us pray.
23:38Let your merciful ears, O Lord,
23:41be open to the prayers of your humble servants,
23:44that they may obtain their petitions,
23:47make them ask such things as will please you.
23:50Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
23:53Amen.
24:02O God, from whom all holy desires,
24:06all good counsels,
24:07and all just works proceed,
24:10give to your servants that peace
24:12which the world cannot give,
24:15that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
24:19and also that by you
24:21we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
24:25may pass our time in rest and quietness.
24:29Through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Saviour.
24:33Amen.
24:38Lighten our darkness, we beseech you, O Lord,
24:42and by your great mercy defend us all
24:45from perils and dangers of this night.
24:49For the love of your only Son,
24:51our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
24:53Amen.
24:57Almighty God,
24:59who has given us grace at this time with one accord
25:02to make our common supplications to you,
25:06and promises that when two or three are gathered together in your name,
25:10you will grant their requests.
25:14Fulfill now, O Lord,
25:16the desires and petitions of your servants,
25:19as may be most beneficial for them,
25:23granting us in this world knowledge of your truth,
25:27and in the world to come,
25:29life everlasting.
25:31Amen.
25:35With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
25:37and the love of God
25:38and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
25:41be with us all evermore.
25:44Amen.
