00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name.
03:14Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace,
03:24that they may be cleansed from all their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind, through Jesus Christ our
03:32Lord.
03:33Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
04:10Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
04:39as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:56Psalm 37
04:59Do not fret when wicked men seem to succeed.
05:04Do not envy evildoers,
05:06for they will quickly dry up like grass,
05:09and wither away like plants.
05:12Trust in the Lord, and do what is right.
05:15Settle in the land, and maintain your integrity.
05:19Then you will take delight in the Lord,
05:21and He will answer your prayers.
05:24Commit your future to the Lord,
05:27trust in Him,
05:28and He will act on your behalf.
05:31He will vindicate you in broad daylight,
05:34and publicly defend your just cause.
05:37Wait patiently for the Lord,
05:40wait confidently for Him.
05:42Do not fret of the apparent success of a sinner,
05:45a man who carries out wicked schemes.
05:48Do not be angry and frustrated.
05:51Do not fret.
05:52That only leads to trouble.
05:55Wicked men will be wiped out,
05:57but those who rely on the Lord
05:59are the ones who will possess the land.
06:03Evil men will soon disappear.
06:05You will stare at the spot where they once were,
06:09but they will be gone.
06:11But the oppressed will have possessed the land,
06:14and enjoy great prosperity.
06:18Evil men plot against the godly,
06:21and viciously attack them.
06:23The Lord laughs in disgust at them,
06:26for He knows that their day is coming.
06:30Evil men draw their swords,
06:32and prepare their bows,
06:33to bring down the oppressed and needy,
06:36and to slaughter those who are godly.
06:40Their swords will pierce their own hearts,
06:43and their bows will be broken.
06:46The little bit that a godly man owns
06:48is better than the wealth of many evil men,
06:52for evil men will lose their power,
06:54but the Lord sustains the godly.
06:58The Lord watches over the innocent day by day,
07:02and they possess a permanent inheritance.
07:06They will not be ashamed when hard times come.
07:09When famine comes,
07:11they will have enough to eat.
07:13But evil men will die.
07:16The Lord's enemies will be incinerated.
07:19They will go up in smoke.
07:23Evil men borrow,
07:24but they do not repay their debt.
07:26But the godly show compassion,
07:28and are generous.
07:31Surely those favoured by the Lord
07:33will possess the land,
07:35but those rejected by Him
07:37will be wiped out.
07:39The Lord grants success to the one
07:42whose behaviour He finds commendable.
07:46Even if He trips,
07:48He will not fall headlong,
07:49for the Lord holds His hand.
07:53I was once young,
07:55now I am old.
07:57I have never seen a godly man abandoned,
08:00or his children forced to search for food.
08:04All day long He shows compassion,
08:06and lends to others,
08:08and His children are blessed.
08:13Turn away from evil,
08:14do what is right,
08:16then you will enjoy lasting security.
08:20For the Lord permits justice,
08:22and never abandons His faithful followers.
08:27They are permanently secure,
08:29but the children of evil men
08:31are wiped out.
08:35The godly will possess the land,
08:37and will dwell in it permanently.
08:40The godly speak wise words,
08:43and permit justice.
08:45The law of their God
08:46controls their thinking,
08:48and their feet do not slip.
08:51Evil men set an ambush for the godly,
08:53and try to kill them.
08:55But the Lord does not surrender the godly,
08:58nor allow them to be condemned
09:00in a court of law.
09:03Rely on the Lord,
09:05obey His commands.
09:07Then He will permit you to possess the land,
09:10and you will see the demise of evil people.
09:14I have seen ruthless evil men
09:17growing in influence,
09:18like a green tree grows in its native soil.
09:22But then one passes by,
09:24and suddenly they have disappeared.
09:27I looked for them,
09:28but they could not be found.
09:31Take note of the one who has integrity.
09:34Observe the upright,
09:36for the one who promotes peace
09:37has a future.
09:40Sinful rebels are totally destroyed.
09:43Evil men have no future.
09:45But the Lord delivers the godly.
09:48He protects them in times of trouble.
09:52The Lord helps them and rescues them.
09:54He rescues them from evil men,
09:57and delivers them.
09:58For they seek His protection.
10:03glory be to the Father,
10:04and to the Son,
10:05and to the Holy Spirit,
10:07as it was in the beginning,
10:09is now,
10:10and ever shall be,
10:11world without end.
10:13Amen.
10:22The prophet Ezekiel,
10:25chapter 27.
10:28Yahweh's word came to me again,
10:30saying,
10:31You,
10:32son of man,
10:32take up a lamentation over Tyre,
10:35and tell Tyre,
10:37you who dwell at the entry of the sea,
10:39who are the merchants of the peoples
10:41to many islands.
10:43Thus says the Lord Yahweh,
10:46you,
10:47Tyre,
10:47have said,
10:48I am perfect in beauty.
10:50Your borders are in the heart of the seas.
10:52Your builders have perfected your beauty.
10:56They have made all your planks of cypress trees from Senir.
11:00They have taken cedar from Lebanon to make a mast for you.
11:04They have made your oars from the oaks of Bashan.
11:09They have made your benches of ivory inlaid with boxwood
11:12from the islands of Kittim.
11:15Your sail was of fine linen with embroidered work from Egypt,
11:19that it might be to you for a banner.
11:24Blue and purple from the islands of Elisha were your awning.
11:29The inhabitants of Sidon and Arvad were your rowers.
11:34Your wise men, Tyre, were in you.
11:36They were your pilots.
11:38The old men of Jibal and the wise men
11:41were your repairers of ship seams in you.
11:45All the ships of the sea with their mariners
11:47were in you to deal with your merchandise.
11:52Persia, Ludd and Put were in your army, your men of war.
11:56They hung the shield and helmet in you.
11:59They showed your beauty.
12:01The men of Arvad with your army were on your walls all the red.
12:04On valiant men were in your towers.
12:08They hung their shields on your walls all the red.
12:11They have perfected your beauty.
12:15Tarshish was your merchant by reason of the multitude of all kinds of riches.
12:21They traded for your wares with silver, iron, tin and lead.
12:27Javan, Tubal, and Meshech were your traders.
12:32They traded the persons of men and vessels for brass, your merchandise.
12:38They, of the house of Togamari, traded for your wares with horses, warhorses and mules.
12:48The men of Dedan traded with you.
12:51Many islands were the market of your hand.
12:54They bought your horns of ivory and ebony in exchange.
12:59Syria was your merchant by reason of the multitude of your handiwork.
13:04They traded for your wares with emeralds, purple, embroideries, linens, coral and ruby.
13:12Judah, on the land of Israel, were your traders.
13:16They traded wheat of minneth, confections, honey, oil and balm for your merchandise.
13:24Damascus was your merchant for the multitude of your handiwork.
13:28By reason of the multitude of all kinds of riches, with the wine of hellborn and white wool.
13:35Vedan and Javan traded with yarn for your wares.
13:39Bright iron, caesia and calamus were among your merchandise.
13:45Dedan was your trafficker in precious clothing for riding.
13:49Arabia and the princes of Kedar were the merchants of your hand.
13:53Lambs, rams and goats.
13:55In these they were your merchants.
13:58The traders of Sheba and Rama were your traders.
14:02They traded for your wares with the chief of all spices and with precious stones and gold.
14:08Haran, Kanae and Eden, the traders of Sheba, Ashur and Chilmad were your traders.
14:14They were traders in choice wares, in wrappings of blue and embroideries, in chests of rich clothing, bound with cords
14:23and bed of cedar among your merchandise.
14:27The ships of Tarshish were your caravans for your merchandise.
14:32You were replenished and made very glorious in the heart of the seas.
14:36Your rowers have brought you into great waters.
14:40The east wind has taken you into the heart of the seas.
14:43Your riches, your wares, your merchandise, your mariners, your pilots, your repairers of ships, dealers in your merchandise, and all
14:53your men of war who are in you.
14:55With all your company, which is among you, will fall into the heart of the seas in your day of
15:02ruin.
15:04Of the sound of the cry of your pilots, the pastures will shake.
15:08All who handle the oars, the mariners and the pilots of the sea, will come down from their ships.
15:15They will stand on the land and cause their voice to be heard of you and will cry bitterly.
15:22They will throw dust on their heads.
15:24They will wallow in the ashes.
15:26They will make themselves bold for you and clothe themselves with sackcloth.
15:31They will weep for you in bitterness of soul, with bitter mourning.
15:36In their wailing, they will take up a lamentation for you and lament over you, saying,
15:42Who is there like Tyre, like her who is brought to silence in the middle of the sea?
15:49When your wares went out of the seas, you filled many peoples.
15:53You enriched the kings of the earth with a multitude of your riches and of your merchandise.
16:00In the time that you were broken by the seas, in the depths of the waters,
16:05your merchandise and all your company fell within you.
16:09All the inhabitants of the islands were astonished at you,
16:13and their kings are horribly afraid.
16:16They are troubled in their face.
16:19The merchants among the people hiss at you.
16:22You have become a terror, and you will be no more.
16:28This is the word of the Lord.
16:31Thanks be to God.
16:44Mary said,
16:46My soul exalts the Lord,
16:48and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
16:53because He has looked upon the humble state of His servant.
16:58For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
17:03because He who is mighty has done great things for me,
17:07and holy is His name.
17:10From generation to generation He is merciful to those who fear Him.
17:16He has demonstrated power with His arm.
17:19He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
17:26He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
17:29and has lifted up those of lowly position.
17:32He has filled the hungry with good things,
17:35and has sent the rich away empty.
17:38He has helped His servant Israel,
17:41remembering His mercy,
17:43as He promised to our ancestors,
17:46to Abraham,
17:48and to his descendants forever.
17:51Glory be to the Father,
17:53and to the Son,
17:54and to the Holy Spirit,
17:55as it was in the beginning,
17:58is now,
17:59and ever shall be,
18:01world without end.
18:03Amen.
18:11The Gospel according to Saint Mark,
18:13chapters 8 and 9.
18:19Then the Pharisees came and began to argue with Jesus,
18:23asking for a sign from heaven to test Him.
18:28Sighing deeply in His spirit,
18:31Jesus said to them,
18:33Why does this generation look for a sign?
18:37I tell you the truth,
18:39no sign will be given to this generation.
18:42And then He left them,
18:44returned to the boat,
18:45and went to the other side of the sea.
18:50Now they had forgotten to take bread with them,
18:52except for the one loaf they had with them in the boat.
18:55And Jesus ordered them,
18:57Watch out!
18:59Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees,
19:01and the yeast of Herod.
19:04So they began to discuss with one another about bread.
19:10When Jesus discovered this,
19:12He said to them,
19:13Why are you arguing about having no bread?
19:16Do you still not see or understand?
19:19Have your hearts been hardened?
19:21Though you have eyes,
19:22don't you see?
19:24Though you have ears,
19:25can't you hear?
19:26Don't you remember?
19:27When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand,
19:31how many baskets full of pieces did you pick up?
19:35Twelve, they replied.
19:38And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand,
19:42how many baskets full of pieces did you pick up?
19:46Seven, they replied.
19:49Then he said to them,
19:50Do you still not understand?
19:57And they arrived in Bethsaida,
19:59and they brought a blind man to Jesus,
20:01and asked him to touch him.
20:04He took the blind man by the hand,
20:06and brought him outside the village.
20:09Then he spat on his eyes,
20:11placed his hands on his eyes,
20:13and asked,
20:15Do you see anything?
20:19Regaining his sight,
20:20he said,
20:21I see people,
20:22but they look like trees walking.
20:26Then Jesus placed his hands on the man's eyes again.
20:31He opened his eyes,
20:32and his sight was restored.
20:34He could see everything clearly.
20:38Jesus sent him home again,
20:40saying,
20:41Do not even go into the village.
20:46Then Jesus and his disciples
20:48came to the villages of Caesarea Philippi.
20:52On the way,
20:53he asked the disciples,
20:55Who do people say that I am?
20:58They said,
21:00John the Baptist,
21:02others say Elijah,
21:03and still others,
21:05one of the prophets.
21:08He asked them,
21:10But who do you say that I am?
21:14Peter answered him,
21:16You are the Christ.
21:18Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.
21:23Then Jesus began to teach them
21:25that the Son of Man
21:26would suffer many things,
21:27and be rejected by the elders,
21:29chief priests,
21:30and experts in the law,
21:32and be killed.
21:33But after three days would rise again.
21:37Jesus spoke quite openly about this,
21:40and so Peter took him aside
21:42and began to rebuke him.
21:45But after turning and looking around
21:47at his disciples,
21:49he rebuked Peter and said,
21:52Get behind me, Satan.
21:55You are not setting your mind
21:57on God's interests,
21:59but on man's.
22:02And turning to the mass of people
22:04with his disciples,
22:06he said to them,
22:07If any man has the desire
22:09to come after me,
22:11let him give up all other desires,
22:14and take up his cross,
22:16and come after me.
22:19Whoever has a desire
22:20to keep his life
22:21will have it taken from him.
22:24And whoever gives up his life
22:25because of me
22:26and the good news
22:27will keep it.
22:29For what profit does a man have
22:31if he gets all the world
22:33but loses his life?
22:36What would a man give
22:37in exchange for his life?
22:40Whoever has a feeling of shame
22:42because of me
22:43and my words
22:44in this false and evil generation,
22:47the Son of Man
22:48will have a feeling of shame
22:50because of him
22:51when he comes in the glory
22:53of his Father
22:54with the holy angels.
22:56He said to them,
22:57Truly I say to you,
22:59there are some here
23:01who will have no taste of death
23:03until they see
23:04the kingdom of God
23:06come with power.
23:09This is the word of the Lord.
23:12Thanks be to God.
23:24Now according to your word,
23:26Sovereign Lord,
23:27permit your servant
23:28to depart in peace.
23:31For my eyes have seen
23:32your salvation
23:33that you have prepared
23:35in the presence of all peoples,
23:38a light for revelation
23:40to the Gentiles
23:41and for glory
23:43to your people Israel.
23:46Glory be to the Father
23:48and to the Son
23:49and to the Holy Spirit,
23:50as it was in the beginning,
23:52is now and ever shall be,
23:55world without end.
23:57Amen.
24:02I believe in God
24:03the Father Almighty,
24:05maker of heaven and earth,
24:07and in Jesus Christ,
24:09his only Son,
24:10our Lord,
24:11who was conceived
24:13by the Holy Spirit,
24:14born of the Virgin Mary,
24:16suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
24:19was crucified,
24:21dead,
24:22and buried.
24:23He descended into hell.
24:25On the third day
24:26he rose again
24:27from the dead.
24:29He ascended into heaven
24:31and is sitting
24:32at the right hand
24:33of God the Father Almighty.
24:36From there he shall come
24:37to judge the living
24:38and the dead.
24:41I believe in the Holy Spirit,
24:43the Holy Catholic Church,
24:45the communion of saints,
24:46the forgiveness of sins,
24:49the resurrection of the body,
24:51and the life everlasting.
24:54Amen.
24:59The Lord be with you
25:02and with your spirit.
25:06Let us pray.
25:09Lord, have mercy upon us.
25:13Christ, have mercy upon us.
25:17Lord, have mercy upon us.
25:24Our Father,
25:25who is in heaven,
25:27holy is your name.
25:30May your kingdom come.
25:32May your will be done
25:34on earth as it is in heaven.
25:37Give us this day
25:38our daily bread.
25:40Forgive us our trespasses,
25:42as we forgive those
25:43who trespass against us.
25:46lead us not into temptation,
25:48but deliver us from evil.
25:51For yours is the kingdom,
25:54the power and the glory,
25:57for ever and ever.
25:58Amen.
26:04O Lord, show your mercy upon us
26:06and grant us your salvation.
26:13protect and guide those in authority
26:15over us.
26:17And mercifully hear us
26:20when we call upon you.
26:24Endue your ministers with righteousness
26:27and make your chosen people joyful.
26:32O Lord, save your people
26:35and bless your inheritance.
26:40Give peace in our time, O Lord,
26:44because there is none other
26:45who fights for us
26:47but only you, O God.
26:50O God, make clean our hearts within us
26:55and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
27:07Let us pray.
27:11Almighty and everlasting God,
27:14give unto us an increase of faith,
27:17hope and charity
27:19that we might obtain that which you promise
27:22and make us love that which you command.
27:27Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
27:29Amen.
27:39O God, from whom all holy desires,
27:43all good counsels and all just works proceed,
27:46give to your servants that peace
27:49which the world cannot give,
27:52that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments
27:56and also that by you,
27:59we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
28:03may pass our time in rest and quietness.
28:07Through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Saviour.
28:10Amen.
28:16Lighten our darkness, we beseech you, O Lord,
28:19and by your great mercy defend us all
28:22from perils and dangers of this night.

28:35Almighty God,
28:36who has given us grace

28:39to make our common supplications to you
28:42and promises that when two or three
28:45are gathered together in your name,
28:48you will grant their requests.
28:51Fulfill now, O Lord,
28:54the desires and petitions of your servants
28:56as may be most beneficial for them,
29:00granting us in this world
29:02knowledge of your truth
29:04and in the world to come,
29:06life everlasting.
