00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:50Give us this day our daily bread.
03:53Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 12
05:00Deliver, Lord, for the godly have disappeared.
05:04People of integrity have vanished.
05:07People lie to one another.
05:09They flatter and deceive.
05:12May the Lord cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that boasts.
05:18They say, we speak persuasively.
05:21We know how to flatter and boast.
05:24Who is our master?
05:27Because of the violence done to the oppressed,
05:30because of the painful cries of the needy,
05:32I will spring into action, says the Lord.
05:35I will provide the safety they so desperately desire.
05:40The Lord's words are absolutely reliable.
05:44They are as untainted as silver purified in a furnace on the ground,
05:49where it is thoroughly refined.
05:53You, Lord, will protect them.
05:56You will continually shelter each one from these evil people.
06:00For the wicked seem to be everywhere when people promote evil.
06:06Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
06:10as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
06:14world without end.
06:16Amen.
06:20Psalm 13
06:22How long, Lord, will you continue to ignore me?
06:26How long will you pay no attention to me?
06:30How long must I worry and suffer in broad daylight?
06:35How long will my enemy gloat over me?
06:39Look at me, answer me, O Lord my God,
06:43revive me, or else I will die.
06:46Then my enemy will say,
06:49I have defeated him.
06:51Then my foes will rejoice because I am shaken.
06:56But I trust in your faithfulness.
07:00May I rejoice because of your deliverance.
07:03I will sing praises to the Lord when he vindicates me.
07:08Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
07:12as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
07:16world without end.
07:18Amen.
07:22Psalm 14
07:25Fools say to themselves,
07:27There is no God.
07:28They sin and commit evil deeds.
07:31None of them does what is right.
07:35The Lord looks down from heaven at the human race
07:37to see if there is anyone who is wise and seeks God.
07:43Everyone rejects God.
07:45They are all morally corrupt.
07:47None of them does what is right,
07:50not even one.
07:52All those who behave wickedly do not understand.
07:56Those who devour my people as if they were eating bread
07:59and do not call out to the Lord.
08:03They are absolutely terrified,
08:05for God defends the godly.
08:09You want to humiliate the oppressed,
08:12even though the Lord is their shelter.
08:15I wish the deliverance of Israel would come from Zion.
08:19When the Lord restores the well-being of his people,
08:23may Jacob rejoice.
08:24May Israel be happy.
08:27Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
08:29and to the Holy Spirit,
08:31as it was in the beginning,
08:33is now, and ever shall be,
08:35world without end.
08:37Amen.
08:45The book of Proverbs, chapter 31.
08:49These are the words of King Lemuel,
08:52an oracle that his mother taught him.
08:57O my son, son of my womb,
09:01O son of my vows,
09:03do not give your strength to women,
09:05nor your ways to that which ruins kings.
09:10It is not for kings, O Lemuel,
09:12it is not for kings to drink wine,
09:14or for rulers to crave strong drink,
09:18lest they drink and forget what is decreed,
09:21and remove from all the poor their legal rights.
09:25Give strong drink to the one who is perishing,
09:28and wine to those who are bitterly distressed.
09:31Let them drink and forget their poverty,
09:34and remember their misery no more.
09:37Open your mouth on behalf of those unable to speak,
09:41for the legal rights of all the dying.
09:45Open your mouth, judge in righteousness,
09:48plead the cause of the poor and needy.
09:52Who can find a wife of noble character,
09:55for her value is far more than rubies.
09:59The heart of her husband has confidence in her,
10:02and he has no lack of gain.
10:06She brings him good and not evil
10:08all the days of her life.
10:11She obtains wool and flax,
10:13and is pleased to work with her hands.
10:16She is like the merchant ships,
10:18bringing her food from afar.
10:21She gets up while it is still night,
10:24and provides food for her household
10:26and a portion to her female servants.
10:30She considers a field and buys it,
10:32and from her own income she plants a vineyard.
10:37She begins her work vigorously,
10:39and she strengthens her arms.
10:41She knows her merchandise is good,
10:44and her lamp does not go out in the night.
10:49Her hands take hold of the distaff,
10:51and her hands grasp the spindle.
10:55She extends her hands to the poor,
10:58and reaches out her hand to the needy.
11:01She is not afraid of the snow for her household,
11:05for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
11:09She makes for herself coverlets.
11:12Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
11:17Her husband is well known in the city gate,
11:20when he sits with the elders of the land.
11:23She makes fine linen garments and sells them,
11:27supplying the merchants with sashes.
11:31She is clothed with strength and honour,
11:33and can laugh at the time to come.
11:37She opens her mouth with wisdom.
11:39Loving instruction is on her tongue.
11:43She watches over the ways of her household.
11:47She does not eat the bread of idleness.
11:52Her children rise up and call her blessed.
11:55Her husband also praises her.
12:05Charm is deceitful and beauty is fleeting,
12:08but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised.
12:12Give her credit for what she has accomplished,
12:16and let her works praise her in the city gates.
12:21This is the word of the Lord.
12:24Thanks be to God.
12:38Mary said,
12:40My soul exalts the Lord,
12:42and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
12:47because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
12:52For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
12:57because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
13:01and holy is his name.
13:03From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
13:10He has demonstrated power with his arm.
13:13He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
13:19He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
13:22and has lifted up those of lowly position.
13:25He has filled the hungry with good things,
13:29and has sent the rich away empty.
13:32He has helped his servant Israel,
13:35remembering his mercy,
13:37as he promised to our ancestors,
13:40to Abraham,
13:41and to his descendants forever.
13:45Glory be to the Father,
13:47and to the Son,
13:48and to the Holy Spirit,
13:49as it was in the beginning,
13:52is now,
13:53and ever shall be,
13:55world without end.
13:57Amen.
14:04The Gospel according to St. Matthew,
14:07Chapter 17
14:12When they came to the people,
14:14a man went down on his knees to him,
14:17saying,
14:18Lord, have mercy on my son,
14:20for he is off his head,
14:22and in great pain.
14:24Frequently he goes and falls into the fire,
14:28frequently into the water.
14:30I took him to your disciples,
14:33but they were not able to make him well.
14:38Jesus answering said,
14:40O false and foolish generation,
14:43how long will I be with you?
14:45How long will I put up with you?
14:48Let him come here to me.
14:51Jesus gave orders to the unclean spirit,
14:53and it went out of him.
14:56The boy was made well from that hour.
15:01Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said,
15:06Why were we not able to send it out?
15:10He said to them,
15:12Because of your little faith.
15:14Truly I say to you,
15:16if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed,
15:18you will say to this mountain,
15:21Be moved from this place to that,
15:23and it will be moved.
15:26Nothing will be impossible for you.
15:31While they were going about in Galilee,
15:33Jesus said to them,
15:35The Son of Man will be given up
15:37into the hands of men.
15:40This is the word of the Lord.
15:43Thanks be to God.
15:56Now, according to your word,
15:58Sovereign Lord,
15:59permit your servant to depart in peace.
16:02For my eyes have seen your salvation,
16:06that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
16:10a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
16:13and for glory to your people Israel.
16:18Glory be to the Father,
16:20and to the Son,
16:21and to the Holy Spirit,
16:22as it was in the beginning,
16:24is now,
16:25and ever shall be,
16:27world without end.
16:29Amen.
16:34I believe in God the Father Almighty,
16:38Maker of heaven and earth,
16:39and in Jesus Christ,
16:41his only Son,
16:42our Lord,
16:43who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
16:46born of the Virgin Mary,
16:48suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
16:52was crucified,
16:54dead,
16:54and buried.
16:55He descended into hell.
16:57On the third day,
16:59he rose again from the dead.
17:01He ascended into heaven,
17:03and is sitting at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
17:08From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
17:13I believe in the Holy Spirit,
17:15the Holy Catholic Church,
17:17the communion of saints,
17:19the forgiveness of sins,
17:21the resurrection of the body,
17:23and the life everlasting.
17:26Amen.
17:31The Lord be with you,
17:34and with your spirit.
17:38Let us pray.
17:42Lord, have mercy upon us.
17:45Christ, have mercy upon us.
17:50Lord, have mercy upon us.
17:56Our Father,
17:57who is in heaven,
18:00holy is your name.
18:02May your kingdom come.
18:04May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
18:09Give us this day our daily bread.
18:12Give us this day our daily bread.
18:12Forgive us our trespasses,
18:14as we forgive those who trespass against us.
18:18Lead us not into temptation,
18:21but deliver us from evil.
18:24For yours is the kingdom,
18:26the power and the glory,
18:28for ever and ever.
18:31For ever and ever.
18:31Amen.
18:37O Lord, show your mercy upon us,
18:39and grant us your salvation.
18:45protect and guide those in authority over us,
18:50and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
18:55Endure your ministers with righteousness,
18:59and make your chosen people joyful.
19:04O Lord, save your people,
19:08and bless your inheritance.
19:12Give peace in our time, O Lord,
19:16because there is none other who fights for us,
19:19but only you, O God.
19:22O God, make clean our hearts within us,
19:27and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
19:38Let us pray.
19:42Grant to us, Lord, we beseech you,
19:45the spirit to think and do always
19:47such things as we write.
19:51that we who cannot do anything
19:52that is good without you,
19:54may by you be enabled
19:57to live according to your will.
19:59Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
20:02Amen.
20:10O God, from whom all holy desires,
20:15all good counsels,
20:16and all just works proceed,
20:19give to your servants that peace
20:21which the world cannot give,
20:23that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
20:28and also that, by you,
20:30we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
20:34may pass our time in rest and quietness.
20:38Through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Saviour.
20:42Amen.
20:47Lighten our darkness, we beseech you, O Lord,
20:51and by your great mercy defend us all
20:53from perils and dangers of this night.
20:57For the love of your only Son,
20:59our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
21:02Amen.
21:06Almighty God,
21:07who has given us grace
21:09at this time with one accord
21:11to make our common supplications to you,
21:14and promises that when two or three
21:17are gathered together in your name,
21:19you will grant their requests.
21:23Fulfill now, O Lord,
21:25the desires and petitions of your servants,
21:28as may be most beneficial for them,
21:32granting us in this world
21:34knowledge of your truth
21:35and in the world to come
21:38life everlasting.
21:40Amen.
21:43May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
21:46and the love of God
21:47and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
21:49be with us all evermore.
21:53Amen.
