00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:56Psalm 12
05:00Deliver, Lord, for the godly have disappeared.
05:04People of integrity have vanished.
05:07People lie to one another.
05:09They flatter and deceive.
05:12May the Lord cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that boasts.
05:18They say, we speak persuasively.
05:21We know how to flatter and boast.
05:23Who is our master?
05:26Because of the violence done to the oppressed,
05:29because of the painful cries of the needy,
05:32I will spring into action, says the Lord.
05:34I will provide the safety they so desperately desire.
05:40The Lord's words are absolutely reliable.
05:44They are as untainted as silver purified in a furnace on the ground,
05:49where it is thoroughly refined.
05:53You, Lord, will protect them.
05:55You will continually shelter each one from these evil people.
06:00For the wicked seem to be everywhere when people promote evil.
06:06Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
06:10as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
06:14world without end.
06:16Amen.
06:19Psalm 13
06:22How long, Lord, will you continue to ignore me?
06:26How long will you pay no attention to me?
06:30How long must I worry and suffer in broad daylight?
06:35How long will my enemy gloat over me?
06:39Look at me, answer me, O Lord my God,
06:42revive me, or else I will die.
06:46Then my enemy will say,
06:48I have defeated him.
06:51Then my foes will rejoice because I am shaken.
06:56But I trust in your faithfulness.
06:59May I rejoice because of your deliverance.
07:03I will sing praises to the Lord when he vindicates me.
07:08Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
07:12as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
07:16world without end.
07:17Amen.
07:21Psalm 14
07:24Fools say to themselves,
07:26There is no God.
07:28They sin and commit evil deeds.
07:31None of them does what is right.
07:34The Lord looks down from heaven at the human race
07:37to see if there is anyone who is wise and seeks God.
07:43Everyone rejects God.
07:44They are all morally corrupt.
07:47None of them does what is right,
07:49not even one.
07:52All those who behave wickedly do not understand.
07:56Those who devour my people as if they were eating bread
07:59and do not call out to the Lord.
08:03They are absolutely terrified,
08:05for God defends the godly.
08:09You want to humiliate the oppressed,
08:12even though the Lord is their shelter.
08:15I wish the deliverance of Israel would come from Zion.
08:19When the Lord restores the well-being of his people,
08:22may Jacob rejoice.
08:24May Israel be happy.
08:27Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
08:31as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
08:35world without end.
08:37Amen.
08:43The Prophet Ezekiel, Chapter 17
08:48Yahweh's word came to me, saying,
08:50Son of man, tell a riddle.
08:52Speak a parable to the house of Israel, saying,
08:55Thus says the Lord Yahweh,
08:57A great eagle with great wings and long feathers,
09:01full of feathers, which had various colours,
09:04came to Lebanon,
09:04and took the top of the cedar.
09:07He cropped off the topmost of its young twigs
09:10and carried it off to a land of traffic.
09:13He planted it in a city of merchants.
09:17He also took some of the seed of the land,
09:20planting it in a fruitful soil.
09:23He placed it beside many waters.
09:25He set it as a willow tree.
09:27It grew, and it became a spreading vine of low stature,
09:32whose branches turned to him,
09:34its roots being under him.
09:36And so it became a vine, producing branches, shooting out sprigs.
09:43There was another great eagle with great wings and many feathers.
09:47Behold, this vine bent its roots toward him,
09:51and shot out its branches to him from the beds of its plantation,
09:55that he might water it.
09:58It was planted in good soil by many waters,
10:01that it might produce branches,
10:03and produce fruit,
10:05that it might be a good vine.
10:08So, says the Lord Yahweh, will it prosper?
10:11Won't he pull it up by its roots,
10:14cut off its fruits,
10:15that it may wither,
10:17that all its fresh springing leaves may wither?
10:21It cannot be raised through its roots
10:23by a strong arm or many people.
10:27Yes, behold, being planted,
10:29will it prosper?
10:31Won't it utterly wither when the east wind touches it?
10:34It will wither in the beds where it grew.
10:39Moreover, Yahweh's word came to me, saying,
10:42Say now to the rebellious house,
10:44why don't you know what these things mean?
10:46Tell them,
10:47Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem,
10:51and took its king and its princes,
10:53taking them to Babylon.
10:55He took some of the royal offspring
10:57and made a covenant with him.
11:00He also brought him under an oath,
11:03taking away the mighty of the land,
11:06that the kingdom might be brought low,
11:08that it might not lift itself up,
11:10but that by keeping his covenant it might stand.
11:15But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt,
11:19that they may give him horses and many people.
11:23Will he prosper?
11:25Will he who does such things escape?
11:27Will he break the covenant and still escape?
11:31As I live, says the Lord Yahweh,
11:34surely in the place where the king dwells,
11:36who made him king,
11:37whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke,
11:41even with him in the middle of Babylon,
11:43he will die.
11:46Pharaoh with his mighty army and the great company
11:49won't help him in the war,
11:51when they cast up mounds and build forts
11:53to cut off many people.
11:56For he has despised the oath
11:58by breaking the covenant.
12:00Behold, he had given his hand
12:02and yet done all these things.
12:04He will not escape.
12:06Therefore, says the Lord Yahweh,
12:08as I live,
12:09I will surely bring on his own head
12:11my oath that he has despised
12:13and my covenant that he has broken.
12:16I will spread my net over him.
12:18He will be taken in my snare.
12:21I will take him to Babylon
12:22and he will enter into judgment
12:25for his trespass that he has trespassed against me.
12:29All his fugitives in all his bands
12:32will fall by the sword.
12:34Those who remain will be scattered to every wind.
12:37Then you will know that I, Yahweh,
12:39have spoken it.
12:41Thus says the Lord Yahweh,
12:44I will take some of the lofty top of the cedar
12:46and I will plant it.
12:47I will crop off from the top
12:49most of its young twigs a tender one.
12:52I will plant it on a high and lofty mountain.
12:55I will plant it in the mountain
12:56of the height of Israel.
12:58It will produce boughs and bear fruit.
13:01It will be a good cedar.
13:03Birds of every kind will dwell
13:05in the shade of its branches.
13:07All the trees of the field
13:09will know that I, Yahweh,
13:11brought down the high tree
13:12have exalted the low tree,
13:14drying up the green tree
13:16and made the dry tree flourish.
13:19I, Yahweh, have spoken it
13:21and have done it.
13:24This is the word of the Lord.
13:26Thanks be to God.
13:39Mary said,
13:41My soul exalts the Lord
13:43and my spirit has begun to rejoice
13:46in God my Saviour
13:48because He has looked
13:50upon the humble state of His servant.
13:54For from now on
13:55all generations will call me blessed
13:58because He who is mighty
14:00has done great things for me
14:02and holy is His name.
14:05From generation to generation
14:07He is merciful to those who fear Him.
14:12He has demonstrated power with His arm.
14:15He has scattered those
14:16whose pride wells up
14:18from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
14:21He has brought down the mighty
14:23from their thrones
14:24and has lifted up those
14:26of lowly position.
14:27He has filled the hungry
14:29with good things
14:30and has sent the rich away empty.
14:34He has helped His servant Israel
14:36remembering His mercy
14:38as He promised to our ancestors
14:41to Abraham
14:43and to His descendants forever.
14:47Glory be to the Father
14:48and to the Son
14:49and to the Holy Spirit
14:51as it was in the beginning
14:53is now and ever shall be
14:55world without end.
14:58Amen.
15:06The Gospel according to St. Mark
15:08Chapter 6
15:11Now Jesus left that place
15:12and came to His home town
15:14and His disciples followed.
15:18When the Sabbath came
15:19He began to teach in the synagogue.
15:22Many who heard Him
15:23were astonished saying
15:24where did He get these ideas?
15:28What is this wisdom
15:29that has been given to Him?
15:31What are these miracles
15:33that are done through His hands?
15:35Surely isn't this the carpenter
15:37the son of Mary
15:39and the brother
15:39of James, Joseph,
15:41Judas and Simon?
15:44Aren't His sisters with us today?
15:47And so they took offense at Him.
15:50Jesus said to them
15:52A prophet is not without honor
15:54except in His hometown
15:55and amongst His relatives
15:57and in His own house.
16:01He was not able
16:02to do a miracle there
16:03except to lay His hands
16:05on a few sick people
16:06and heal them.
16:08He was amazed
16:09because of their unbelief.
16:12Then He went around
16:13the villages and taught.
16:17Jesus called the twelve
16:18and began to send them out
16:19two by two
16:21giving them authority
16:22over all the unclean spirits.
16:25He instructed them
16:26to take nothing
16:27for their journey
16:28except a staff
16:29no bread,
16:30no bag,
16:31no money in their belts
16:32and to put on sandals
16:34but not to wear
16:35two tunics.
16:37He said to them
16:38Whenever you enter a house
16:39stay there
16:40until you leave the area.
16:42If a place will not
16:43welcome you
16:44or listen to you
16:45as you go out
16:46from there
16:47shake the dust
16:48of your feet
16:49as a testimony
16:50against them.
16:53And so they went out
16:54and preached
16:54that all should repent.
16:57They cast out
16:58many demons
16:58and anointed
16:59many sick people
17:00with oil
17:01and healed them.
17:04This is the word
17:05of the Lord.
17:07Thanks be to God.
17:19Now according to your word
17:22Sovereign Lord
17:22permit your servant
17:24to depart in peace

17:36to the Gentiles
17:37and for glory
17:38to your people
