00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:56Psalm 82
04:59God stands in the assembly of El.
05:03In the midst of the gods he renders judgment.
05:07He says,
05:08How long will you make unjust legal decisions and show favoritism to the wicked?
05:14Defend the cause of the poor and the fatherless.
05:17Vindicate the oppressed and suffering.
05:20Rescue the poor and needy.
05:22Deliver them from the power of the wicked.
05:26They neither know nor understand.
05:28They stumble around in the dark, while all the foundations of the earth crumble.
05:34I thought,
05:35You are gods.
05:36All of you are sons of the Most High.
05:39Yet, you will die like mortals.
05:41You will fall like all other rulers.
05:45Rise up, O God, and execute judgment on the earth.
05:49For you own all the nations.
05:53Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
05:57As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
06:03Amen.
06:07Psalm 83
06:11O God, do not be silent.
06:14Do not ignore us.
06:15Do not be inactive, O God.
06:18For look, your enemies are making a commotion.
06:21Those who hate you are hostile.
06:24They carefully plot against your people,
06:27and make plans to harm the ones you cherish.
06:30They say,
06:31Come on, let's annihilate them,
06:34so they are no longer a nation.
06:36Then the name of Israel will be remembered no more.
06:41Yes, they devise a unified strategy.
06:44They form an alliance against you.
06:47It includes the tents of Edom,
06:50and the Ishmaelites,
06:52Moab, and the Hagrites,
06:54Jebal, Ammon, and Amalek,
06:57Philistere, and the inhabitants of Tyre.
07:00Even Assyria has allied with them,
07:03lending its strength to the descendants of Lot.
07:07Do to them,
07:08as you did to Midian,
07:09as you did to Caesar and Jebin,
07:12at the Kishon river.
07:14They were destroyed at Endor.
07:16Their corpses were like manure on the ground.
07:21Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeb,
07:24and all their rulers like Zeber and Zalmunna,
07:26who said,
07:27Let us take over the pastures of God.
07:31O my God,
07:33make them like dead thistles,
07:35like dead weeds blown away by the wind.
07:39Like the fire that burns down the forest,
07:41or the flames that consume the mountainsides,
07:44chase them with your gale winds,
07:46and terrify them with your windstorm.
07:50Cover their faces with shame,
07:52that they might seek you,
07:54O Lord.
07:55May they be humiliated and continually terrified.
08:00May they die in shame.
08:03Then they will know that you alone are the Lord,
08:06the Most High over all the earth.
08:09Glory be to the Father,
08:11and to the Son,
08:12and to the Holy Spirit,
08:14as it was in the beginning,
08:16is now,
08:16and ever shall be,
08:18world without end.
08:20Amen.
08:24Psalm 84
08:28How lovely is the place where you live,
08:31O Lord of Heaven's armies!
08:33I desperately want to be in the courts of the Lord's temple.
08:37My heart and my entire being shout for joy to the living God.
08:43Even the birds find a home there,
08:46and the swallows build a nest,
08:47where she can protect her young near your altars.
08:51O Lord of Heaven's armies,
08:53my King and my God!
08:56How blessed are those who live in your temple,
08:59and praise you continually!
09:02How blessed are those who find their strength in you,
09:05and long to travel the roads that lead to your temple!
09:11As they pass through the Bakar Valley,
09:13He provides a spring for them.
09:16The rain even covers it with pools of water.
09:20They are sustained as they travel along.
09:23Each one appears before God in Zion.
09:28O Lord God of Heaven's armies,
09:30hear my prayer.
09:31Listen, O God of Jacob!
09:34O God, take notice of our shield!
09:36Show concern for your chosen King!
09:40Certainly spending just one day in your temple courts
09:44is better than spending a thousand elsewhere.
09:48I would rather stand at the entrance to the temple of my God
09:52than live in the tents of the wicked.
09:56For the Lord God is our sovereign protector.
09:59The Lord bestows favour and honour.
10:02He withholds no good thing from those who have integrity.
10:07O Lord of Heaven's armies,
10:09how blessed are those who trust in you!
10:13Glory be to the Father,
10:15and to the Son,
10:16and to the Holy Spirit,
10:17as it was in the beginning,
10:19is now, and ever shall be,
10:22world without end.
10:24Amen.
10:30The Book of Proverbs, Chapter 1
10:35Wisdom calls out in the streets.
10:37She shouts loudly in the plazas.
10:40At the head of the noisy streets,
10:42she calls in the entrances of the gates.
10:45To the city,
10:46she utters her words.
10:49How long will you, simpletons, love naivety?
10:53How long will mockers delight in mockery
10:56and fools hate knowledge?
10:59If only you will respond to my rebuke,
11:02then I will pour out my thoughts to you,
11:04and I will make my words known to you.
11:08However, because I called,
11:10and you refused to listen,
11:11because I stretched my hand,
11:13but no one paid attention,
11:15because you neglected all my advice
11:18and did not comply with my rebuke.
11:21So I myself will laugh
11:23when disaster strikes you.
11:25I will mock you, what?
11:27When what you dread comes.
11:30When what you dread comes like a whirlwind
11:32and disaster strikes you
11:34like a devastating storm,
11:36when distressing trouble comes upon you.
11:41Then they will call to me,
11:42but I will not answer.
11:44They will diligently seek me,
11:46but they will not find me,
11:48because they hated moral knowledge
11:51and did not choose to fear the Lord.
11:54They did not comply with my advice.
11:56They spurned all my rebuke.
12:00Therefore they will eat
12:01from the fruit of their way,
12:03and they will be stuffed full
12:04of their own counsel.
12:07For the waywardness of the simpletons
12:09will kill them,
12:10and the careless ease of fools
12:12will destroy them.
12:14But the one who listens to me
12:16will live in security
12:17and will be at ease
12:20from the dread of harm.
12:23This is the word of the Lord.
12:26Thanks be to God.
12:39Mary said,
12:40My soul exalts the Lord,
12:43and my spirit has begun to rejoice
12:45in God my Saviour,
12:47because He has looked
12:49upon the humble state of His servant.
12:53For from now on all generations
12:55will call me blessed,
12:58because He who is mighty
12:59has done great things for me,
13:01and holy is His name.
13:04From generation to generation
13:06He is merciful to those who fear Him.
13:10He has demonstrated power with His arm.
13:13He has scattered those
13:15whose pride wells up
13:17from the sheer arrogance
13:18of their hearts.
13:20He has brought down the mighty
13:22from their thrones,
13:23and has lifted up those
13:25of lowly position.
13:27He has filled the hungry
13:28with good things,
13:29and has sent the rich away empty.
13:33He has helped His servant Israel,
13:36remembering His mercy,
13:38as He promised to our ancestors,
13:40to Abraham and to his descendants
13:44for ever.
13:46Glory be to the Father,
13:48and to the Son,
13:48and to the Holy Spirit,
13:50as it was in the beginning,
13:52is now, and ever shall be,
13:55world without end.
13:57Amen.
14:05The Gospel according to St. Matthew,
14:07chapter 8.
14:10After he came down from the mountain,
14:12large crowds followed him.
14:15A leper approached,
14:16and bowed low before him,
14:18saying,
14:19Lord, if you are willing,
14:21you can make me clean.
14:23He stretched out his hand,
14:25and touched him, saying,
14:26I am willing.
14:28Be clean.
14:30And immediately the man's leprosy
14:32was cleansed.
14:34Then Jesus said to him,
14:37See that you do not speak to anyone,
14:39but go,
14:40show yourself to a priest,
14:42and bring the offering
14:42that Moses commanded,
14:44as a testimony to them.
14:48When Jesus came to Capernaum,
14:50a certain captain
14:51came to him with a request,
14:53saying,
14:54Lord,
14:55my servant is ill in bed
14:57at the house,
14:58with no power in his body,
15:00and is in great pain.
15:02He said to him,
15:04I will come and make him well.
15:07The captain answered,
15:09saying,
15:11Lord,
15:11I am not good enough
15:12for you to come under my roof,
15:14but only say the word
15:15and my servant
15:16will be made well.
15:18Because I myself
15:19am a man under authority,
15:21having under me
15:22fighting men,
15:23and I say to this one,
15:24Go,
15:25and he goes,
15:25and to another,
15:27Come,
15:27and he comes,
15:28and to my servant,
15:30Do this,
15:30and he does it.
15:34With these words,
15:36Jesus turned in surprise
15:38and said to those
15:38who followed him,
15:39saying,
15:40Truly I say to you,
15:42I have not seen
15:43such great faith,
15:44no,
15:45not in Israel.
15:47I say to you
15:48that numbers will come
15:49from east and west,
15:50and will take their seats
15:51with Abraham,
15:52Isaac,
15:53and Jacob,
15:54in the kingdom of heaven.
15:56But the sons of the kingdom
15:58will be put out
15:58into the dark,
16:00and there will be weeping
16:01and cries of pain.
16:05Jesus said to the captain,
16:07Go in peace,
16:09as your faith is,
16:10so let it be done
16:12for you.
16:15The servant was made well
16:16that hour.
16:19When Jesus came
16:20to Peter's house,
16:21he saw that his wife's mother
16:23was in bed very ill.
16:25He put his hand on hers,
16:27and the disease went from her,
16:29and she got up
16:30and took care of his needs.
16:34In the evening,
16:35they took to him
16:36a number of people
16:37who had evil spirits,
16:38and he sent the spirits
16:40out of them
16:40with a word,
16:41making well all
16:43those who were ill,
16:44so that the words
16:46of Isaiah the prophet
16:47might come true.
16:49He himself
16:50took our pains
16:51and our diseases.
16:54This is the word
16:55of the Lord.
16:57Thanks be to God.
17:09Now, according to your word,
17:11Sovereign Lord,
17:13permit your servant
17:14to depart in peace.
17:16For my eyes
17:17have seen your salvation
17:18that you have prepared
17:20in the presence
17:21of all peoples,
17:23a light for revelation
17:25to the Gentiles,
17:26and for glory
17:28to your people Israel.
17:31Glory be to the Father,
17:33and to the Son,
17:34and to the Holy Spirit,
17:36as it was in the beginning,
17:38is now,
17:38and ever shall be,
17:40world without end.
17:41Amen.
17:47I believe in God
17:49the Father Almighty,
17:51maker of heaven
17:52and earth,
17:53and in Jesus Christ,
17:54his only Son,
17:55our Lord,
17:56who was conceived
17:58by the Holy Spirit,
17:59born of the Virgin Mary,
18:02suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
18:05was crucified,
18:06dead,
18:07and buried.
18:08He descended
18:09into hell.
18:10On the third day
18:12he rose again
18:13from the dead.
18:14He ascended
18:15into heaven
18:16and is sitting
18:17at the right hand
18:18of God the Father Almighty.
18:21From there
18:22he shall come
18:23to judge
18:23the living
18:24and the dead.
18:26I believe
18:27in the Holy Spirit,
18:28the Holy Catholic Church,
18:30the communion
18:31of saints,
18:32the forgiveness
18:33of sins,
18:34the resurrection
18:35of the body,
18:36and the life everlasting.
18:39Amen.
18:44The Lord be with you
18:47and with your spirit.
18:51Let us pray.
18:55Lord, have mercy upon us.
18:58Christ, have mercy upon us.
19:03Lord, have mercy upon us.
19:09Our Father,
19:11who is in heaven,
19:13holy is your name.
19:15May your kingdom come.
19:17May your will be done
19:19on earth
19:20as it is in heaven.
19:22Give us this day
19:24our daily bread.
19:25Forgive us
19:26our trespasses
19:27as we forgive those
19:29who trespass against us.
19:31lead us not
19:33into temptation,
19:34but deliver us
19:35from evil.
19:37For yours
19:38is the kingdom,
19:39the power
19:40and the glory,
19:42for ever
19:43and ever.
19:44Amen.
19:49O Lord,
19:50show your mercy upon us
19:52and grant us
19:54and grant us
19:55your salvation.
19:58Protect and guide
19:59those in authority
20:01over us
20:03and mercifully
20:04hear us
20:05when we call upon you.
20:08Endue your ministers
20:10with righteousness
20:12and make your chosen
20:14people joyful.
20:17O Lord,
20:18save your people
20:21and bless
20:22your inheritance.
20:25Give peace
20:26in our time,
20:27O Lord,
20:29because there is
20:30none other
20:31who fights for us
20:32but only you,
20:33O God.
20:35O God,
20:37make clean
20:37our hearts
20:38within us
20:40and take not
20:41your Holy Spirit
20:43from us.
20:52Let us pray.
20:55O God,
20:56who has prepared
20:57for those who love you
20:58such good things
20:59as past man's understanding,
21:02pour into our hearts
21:03such love toward you
21:05that we,
21:06loving you above all things,
21:08may obtain your promises
21:10which exceed
21:11all that we can desire.
21:13through Jesus Christ
21:15our Lord.
21:17Amen.
21:26O God,
21:27from whom
21:28all holy desires,
21:30all good counsels
21:31and all just works
21:32proceed,
21:34give to your servants
21:35that peace
21:36which the world
21:38cannot give,
21:39that our hearts
21:40may be set
21:41to obey
21:42your commandments
21:43and also
21:44that by you
21:45we,
21:46being defended
21:48from the fear
21:48of our enemies,
21:50may pass our time
21:51in rest and quietness.
21:53Through the merits
21:55of Jesus Christ
21:56our Saviour.
21:58Amen.
22:03Lighten our darkness
22:04we beseech you,
22:05O Lord,
22:06and by your great mercy
22:08defend us all
22:09from perils
22:10and dangers
22:11of this night.
22:13For the love
22:14of your only Son
22:15our Saviour
22:16Jesus Christ.
22:18Amen.
22:21Almighty God,
22:23who has given us grace
22:24at this time
22:25with one accord
22:26to make our common
22:28supplications
22:29to you
22:29and promises
22:31that when two or three
22:32are gathered together
22:33in your name
22:34you will grant
22:35their requests.
22:38Fulfill now,
22:39O Lord,
22:40the desires
22:41and petitions
22:42of your servants
22:43as may be
22:45most beneficial
22:45for them,
22:48granting us
22:48in this world
22:49knowledge of your truth
22:51and in the world
22:52to come
22:53life everlasting.
22:56Amen.
22:59With the grace
23:00of our Lord Jesus Christ
23:01and the love
23:02of God
23:02and the fellowship
23:04of the Holy Spirit
23:05be with us all
23:07evermore.
23:08Amen.
