17:07Mary said,

18:36The Gospel according to Saint Mark,
18:38Chapter 4
18:42Jesus began to teach by the sea,
18:45and as an immense crowd gathered around Him,
18:47He got into a boat,
18:49sitting in it on the sea,
18:51while all the people were on the shore
18:53at the water's edge.
18:56Then He taught them many truths in parables.
18:59In the course of His teaching,
19:01He said to them,
19:02Listen,
19:03the sower went out to sow.
19:05As he was sowing,
19:07some of the seed fell along the path,
19:08and the birds came and ate it up.
19:12Some fell on rocky ground,
19:14where it did not have much soil.
19:17Because the soil wasn't deep,
19:19it sprang up at once.
19:22But when the sun rose,
19:24it scorched,
19:25and because their roots were not deep enough,
19:28withered away.
19:30Some of the seed fell among brambles,
19:33but the brambles shot up,
19:35choking it,
19:36and it yielded no return.
19:39Some fell into good soil,
19:41and shooting up,
19:42it grew,
19:43yielding a return amounting to 30, 60,
19:46even 100 fold.
19:49Jesus said,
19:51Let anyone who has ears to hear,
19:54hear.
19:58Afterwards,
19:59when He was alone,
20:00His followers and the 12
20:01asked Him about His parables,
20:03and He said,
20:05To tell you the hidden truth
20:07of the kingdom of God
20:08has been imparted.
20:11But to those who are outside,
20:13it's all teaching
20:14takes to form parables,
20:16so that,
20:17though they have eyes,
20:18they may see and not see,
20:21and though they have ears,
20:22they will hear without hearing.
20:25Otherwise,
20:26someday they might turn
20:27and be forgiven.
20:30You do not know the meaning
20:32of this parable,
20:33He went on.
20:34How then will you understand
20:35the other parables?
20:39The sower sows the message.
20:41The people meant by the seed
20:43that falls along the path
20:45are these,
20:45when the message is sown.
20:48But as soon as they hear it,
20:50Satan comes immediately
20:51and carries away the message
20:52that has been sown in them.
20:56So too those meant by the seed
20:58sown on the rocky places
20:59are the people who,
21:01when they have heard the message,
21:03at once accept it joyfully.
21:05But as they have no root,
21:07they stand only for a short time.
21:09And so when trouble
21:11or persecution arises
21:13because of the message,
21:14they fall away at once.
21:18Those meant by the seed
21:19sown among the brambles
21:21are different.
21:22They are the people
21:23who hear the message
21:25but the cares of life,
21:27the glamour of wealth
21:27and the cravings
21:29for other things
21:30come in,
21:31completely choking the message
21:33so that it gives no return.
21:36But the people meant
21:38by the seed sown
21:38on the good ground
21:39are those who hear the message,
21:42welcome it
21:42and yield a return,
21:4530, 60
21:46and even 100 fold.
21:51When the light comes in,
21:53do people put it
21:53under a vessel
21:54or under the bed
21:56and not on its table?
21:59There is nothing covered
22:01which will not be seen openly
22:02and nothing has been made secret
22:04which will not come to light.
22:07If anyone has ears,
22:09let him give ear.
22:12Take care what you give ear to.
22:15In the same measure
22:17as you give,
22:18you will get
22:18and more will be given to you.
22:22He who has,
22:24to whom will be given
22:25and he who has not,
22:27from him will be taken
22:29even that which he has.

22:35as if a man put seed
22:36in the earth,

23:10It is like a grain
23:11of mustard seed

23:13when it is put in the earth,

23:15than all the seeds

23:18But when it is planted
23:20it comes up
23:20and becomes taller
23:22than all the plants
23:23putting out
23:24great branches
23:25so that the birds
23:26of heaven
23:27are able to take
23:28rest in its shade.
23:33With a number
23:34of such stories
23:35Jesus gave them
23:36his teaching
23:36as they were able
23:37to take it.
23:39Without a story
23:40he said nothing to them
23:41but privately
23:43to his disciples
23:44he made all things
23:46clear.
23:48This is the word
23:50of the Lord.
