00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 108
05:00I am determined, O God.
05:02I will sing and praise you with my whole heart.
05:06Awake, O stringed instrument and harp.
05:09I will wake up at dawn.
05:12I will give you thanks before the nations, O Lord.
05:15I will sing praises to you before foreigners.
05:19For your loyal love extends beyond the sky, and your faithfulness reaches the clouds.
05:26Rise up above the sky, O God.
05:29May your splendour cover the whole earth.
05:33Deliver by your power and answer me, so that the ones you love may be safe.
05:39God has spoken in his sanctuary.
05:43I will triumph.
05:44I will parcel out Shechem.
05:46The valley of Succoth I will measure off.
05:49Gilead belongs to me as does Manasseh.
05:53Ephraim is my helmet.
05:55Judah my royal sceptre.
05:58Moab is my washbasin.
06:00I will make Edom serve me.
06:01I will shout in triumph over Philistia.
06:05Who will lead me into the fortified city?
06:08Who will bring me to Edom?
06:12Have you not rejected us, O God?
06:15O God, you do not go into battle with our armies.
06:22Give us help against the enemy, for any help men might offer is futile.
06:28By God's power we will conquer.
06:31He will trample down our enemies.
06:35Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
06:39as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
06:44world without end.
06:46Amen.
06:52Psalm 109
06:57O God, whom I praise, do not ignore me,
07:01for they say cruel and deceptive things to me.
07:04They lie to me.
07:06They surround me and say hateful things.
07:08They attack me for no reason.
07:12They repay my love with accusations,
07:15but I continue to pray.
07:17They repay me evil for good and hateful love.
07:23Appoint an evil man to testify against him.
07:26May an accuser stand at his right side.
07:29When he is judged, he will be found guilty.
07:32Then his prayer will be regarded as sinful.
07:35May his days, may his days be few, may another take his job.
07:40May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow.
07:44May his children roam around begging, asking for handouts,
07:49as they leave their ruined home.
07:52May the creditor seize all he owns.
07:56May strangers loot his property.
08:00May no one show him kindness.
08:02May no one have compassion on his fatherless children.
08:07May his descendants be cut off.
08:09May the memory of them be wiped out by the time the next generation arrives.
08:16May his ancestors' sins be remembered by the Lord.
08:19May his mother's sin not be forgotten.
08:24May the Lord be constantly aware of them
08:27and cut off the memory of his children from the earth.
08:31For he never bothered to show kindness.
08:34He harassed the oppressed and the needy
08:36and killed the disheartened.
08:39He loved to curse others,
08:42so those curses have come back upon him.
08:44He had no desire to bless anyone,
08:47so he has experienced no blessings.
08:51He has made cursing a way of life,
08:54so curses poured into his stomach like water
08:57and seeped into his bones like oil.
09:01May a curse attach itself to him,
09:03like a garment one puts on,
09:05or a belt one wears continually.
09:10May the Lord repay my accusers in this way,
09:13those who say evil things about me.
09:17O Sovereign Lord,
09:19intervene on my behalf for the sake of your reputation.
09:22Because your loyal love is good,
09:25deliver me.
09:26For I am oppressed and needy
09:28and my heart beats violently within me.
09:32I am fading away like a shadow at the end of the day.
09:36I am shaken off like a locust.
09:39I am so starved my knees shake.
09:43I have turned into skin and bones.
09:46I am disdained by them.
09:48When they see me, they shake their heads.
09:51Help me, O Lord, my God,
09:54because you are faithful to me, deliver me.
09:57Then they will realize this is your work
09:59and that you, Lord, have accomplished it.
10:03They curse, but you will bless.
10:05When they attack, they will be humiliated,
10:08but your servant will rejoice.
10:11My accusers will be covered with shame
10:14and draped in humiliation as if it were a robe.
10:18I will thank the Lord profusely
10:20in the middle of a crowd.
10:22I will praise him
10:23because he stands at the right hand of the needy
10:26to deliver him from those who threaten his life.
10:31Glory be to the Father and to the Son
10:33and to the Holy Spirit,
10:35as it was in the beginning,
10:37is now and ever shall be,
10:40world without end.
10:42Amen.
10:50The Book of Proverbs, Chapter 11
10:56The one who puts up security for a stranger
10:58will surely have trouble,
11:01but whoever avoids shaking hands will be secure.
11:05A generous woman gains honour
11:08and ruthless men seize wealth.
11:12A kind person benefits himself,
11:15but a cruel person brings himself trouble.
11:20The wicked earn deceitful wages,
11:23but those who sow righteousness
11:26reap a genuine reward.
11:30True righteousness leads to life,
11:33but the one who pursues evil
11:35pursues it to his own death.
11:38The Lord abhors those who are perverse in heart,
11:42but those who are blameless in their ways
11:45are his delight.
11:48Be assured that the evil person
11:50will certainly be punished,
11:52but the descendants of the righteous
11:54will not suffer unjust judgment.
11:59Like a gold ring in a pig's snout
12:01is a beautiful woman
12:03who rejects discretion.
12:06What the righteous desire
12:08leads only to good,
12:10but what the wicked hope for
12:12leads to wrath.
12:15One person is generous
12:16and yet grows more wealthy,
12:19but another withholds more than he should
12:21and comes to poverty.
12:25A generous person will be enriched
12:27and the one who provides water for others
12:30will himself be satisfied.
12:34People will curse the one
12:36who withholds grain,
12:37but they will praise the one
12:39who sells it.
12:41The one who diligently seeks good
12:44seeks favour,
12:45but the one who searches for evil
12:47it will come to him.
12:51The one who trusts in his riches
12:53will fall,
12:54but the righteous will flourish
12:56like a green leaf.
12:59The one who troubles his family
13:01will inherit nothing
13:02and the fool will be a servant
13:04to the wise person.
13:07The fruit of the righteous
13:09is like a tree producing life
13:11and the one who wins souls
13:13is wise.
13:16If the righteous are recompensed
13:19on earth,
13:20how much more
13:21the wicked sinner?
13:25This is the word of the Lord.
13:28Thanks be to God.
13:42Mary said,
13:43My soul exalts the Lord
13:46and my spirit has begun
13:48to rejoice in God my Saviour
13:51because he has looked
13:52upon the humble state
13:54of his servant.
13:57For from now on
13:58all generations
13:59will call me blessed
14:00because he who is mighty
14:03has done great things for me
14:05and holy is his name.
14:08From generation to generation
14:10he is merciful to those
14:12who fear him.
14:14He has demonstrated power
14:16with his arm.
14:17He has scattered those
14:19whose pride wells up
14:20from the sheer arrogance
14:22of their hearts.
14:24He has brought down
14:25the mighty from their thrones
14:27and has lifted up
14:28those of lowly position.
14:30He has filled the hungry
14:32with good things
14:33and has sent the rich
14:35away empty.
14:36He has helped
14:38his servant Israel
14:39remembering his mercy
14:41as he promised
14:42to our ancestors,
14:44to Abraham
14:45and to his descendants
14:47forever.
14:49Glory be to the Father
14:51and to the Son
14:52and to the Holy Spirit
14:53as it was in the beginning
14:56is now
14:57and ever shall be
14:58world without end.
15:01Amen.
15:10The Gospel according
15:12to Saint Matthew
15:13Chapter 11
15:16When Jesus had finished
15:17instructing his twelve disciples
15:20he went on from there
15:21to teach and preach
15:22in their towns.
15:24When John heard
15:26in prison about the deeds
15:27that Christ had done
15:28he sent his disciples
15:30to ask a question
15:32Are you the one
15:33who is to come
15:34or shall we look
15:35for another?
15:37Jesus answered them
15:39Go
15:40tell John what you hear
15:42and see
15:43the blind see
15:44the lame walk
15:45the lepers are cleansed
15:48the deaf hear
15:50the dead are raised
15:51and the poor
15:52have the good news
15:53proclaimed to them
15:55Blessed is anyone
15:56who takes no offence
15:58at me
16:01While they were going away
16:03Jesus began to speak
16:04to the crowd
16:05about John
16:07What did you
16:08go out
16:08into the wilderness
16:09to see?
16:11A reed
16:12shaken by the wind
16:14What did you
16:15go out
16:16to see?
16:17A man dressed
16:18in fancy clothes
16:20Look
16:21those who wear
16:22fancy clothes
16:23are in the homes
16:24of kings
16:26So what did you
16:27go out
16:28to see?
16:29A prophet
16:31Yes
16:31I tell you
16:32and more than a prophet
16:34for this is the one
16:35about whom it is written
16:37Look
16:38I am sending
16:39my messenger
16:40ahead of you
16:40who will prepare
16:42your way
16:43before you
16:45I tell you
16:46the truth
16:46among those
16:47born of women
16:48no one has arisen
16:49greater than
16:50John the Baptist
16:52Yet the one
16:53who is least
16:53in the kingdom
16:54of heaven
16:54is greater
16:55than he is
16:58From the days
16:59of John the Baptist
16:59until now
17:00the kingdom
17:00of heaven
17:01has suffered
17:02violence
17:03and forceful
17:04people
17:05they hold
17:05of it
17:07For all the prophets
17:09and the law
17:09prophesied
17:10until John
17:11appeared
17:14If you are
17:15willing to
17:16accept it
17:16he is
17:17Elijah
17:18who is to
17:19come
17:19The one
17:21who has
17:21ears
17:22had better
17:22listen
17:25To what
17:26should I
17:27compare
17:27this generation?
17:29They are
17:30like children
17:31sitting in the
17:31market bases
17:32who called out
17:33to one another
17:34We played the flute
17:35for you
17:36yet you did not
17:37dance
17:38We wailed
17:39in the morning
17:40yet you did
17:41not weep
17:43For John
17:44came
17:44neither eating
17:45nor drinking
17:46and they say
17:47He has a demon
17:51The Son of Man
17:52came eating
17:52and drinking
17:53and they say
17:54to him
17:55Look
17:55a glutton
17:56and a drunk
17:57a friend
17:58of tax collectors
17:59and sinners
18:01but wisdom
18:02is vindicated
18:03by her deeds
18:06Then Jesus
18:07began to
18:08criticise openly
18:09the cities
18:09in which
18:10he had done
18:10many of his
18:11miracles
18:12because they
18:13did not repent
18:15Woe to you
18:16Chorazin
18:18Woe to you
18:19Bethsaida
18:21If the miracles
18:22done in you
18:22had been done
18:23in Tyre
18:24and Sidon
18:24they would have
18:25repented
18:26long ago
18:26in sackcloth
18:27and ashes
18:31But I tell you
18:32it will be
18:33more bearable
18:34for Tyre
18:34and Sidon
18:35on the day
18:36of judgment
18:37than it will be
18:38for you
19:04At that time
19:06Jesus said
19:06I praise you
19:08Father
19:08Lord of heaven
19:09and earth
19:10because you
19:11have hidden
19:11these things
19:12from the wise
19:13and intelligent
19:16but you have
19:17revealed them
19:17to little children
19:20Yes Father
19:20for this was
19:21your gracious will
19:23All things
19:24have been handed
19:25over to me
19:26by my Father
19:28No one knows
19:29the Son
19:29except the Father
19:30and no one knows
19:32the Father
19:32except the Son
19:34and anyone
19:35to whom the Son
19:36decides to reveal him
19:39Come to me
19:40all you
19:41who are weary
19:42and burdened
19:43and I will give you rest
19:45Take my yoke upon you
19:47and learn from me
19:49because I am gentle
19:51and humble in heart
19:53and you will find rest
19:55for your souls
19:57For my yoke is easy to bear
19:59and my load
20:01is not hard
20:02to carry
20:04This is the word
20:06of the Lord
20:08Thanks be to God
20:21Now according to your word
20:23Sovereign Lord
20:24Permit your servant
20:26to depart in peace
20:27For my eyes

20:31that you have prepared
20:33in the presence
20:33of all peoples
20:35A light for revelation
20:37to the Gentiles
20:39and for glory
20:40to your people Israel
20:44Glory be to the Father
