00:00Are people hammering me on social media for it, for being a little worried?
00:03I hope they are. I hope I'm getting smoked on social media.
00:05Well, we are getting the typical, guys, you're reaching, this is not a story.
00:12I want to tell you guys.
00:14Ken wanted it to be a reach. He wanted it not to be a story.
00:16I don't want it to be a story. If you're listening to this, I'm going to call an audible again.
00:21You're going to hate me, Owen. Can I get the rootin' tootin' freshin' fruitin' berg again, real quick?
00:27What kind of interaction have you had with Miles Garrett?
00:30Yeah, of course, knew that would be a question.
00:33I'm going to leave a lot of that interaction between me and Miles.
00:37There has been some.
00:39There has been some, yes.
00:42I didn't like how you immediately went to, I'm going to leave that between me and Miles.
00:47What do you got to leave between you two?
00:49I didn't even have to ask. You could always just say, ah, my conversations with the players are always private.
00:54But that's kind of a follow-up question.
00:58Like, does he intend on being here?
01:00I expect him to be here, yeah, voluntary.
01:02But this is voluntary.
01:03We have mandatory camp coming up on June 9th.
01:06I expect him to be here June 9th.
01:08That's not hard.
01:09Is that hard to say?
01:11And I just didn't like the answer.
01:12And so when I hear an actual coach, like,
01:16rumors, rumors, schmumers, it happens all the time.
01:19But when I hear an actual coach kind of hem and haw about it, I'm just like, oh, God.
01:24It seems like they don't know what to say.
01:26Yeah.
01:26When you don't know what to say because you don't know the situation fully,
01:31because you don't want to give away too much or anything, it just bothers me.
01:35And so now, for the first time, I'm kind of toying with the notion, like, okay, what if they do
01:40trade him?
01:40You know, what if they did?
01:41And I'm going, I don't want him traded yet.
01:43I don't want to start the season.
01:45And, like, someday, I'm not going to lie, I don't think he's going to finish his career anymore with the
01:50Browns.
01:50I've kind of gotten back and forth.
01:52I didn't think he would before the contract signed.
01:54Then I thought he was here forever.
01:56Then they redid this contract.
01:57And it's just like, yeah, we'll probably get to the end of it.
02:00And I just thought maybe we'd get to the end of it.
02:03And you and I would be bickering about, hopefully it wouldn't matter because they'd be a good team by that,
02:07but it'd be bickering about what you could have got had you done it earlier, this, that, and the other.
02:12Now I have to toy with the notion.
02:13I do.
02:14I have to consider the option that he may not be here by mid-June or may not be here
02:19in August with the Micah Parsons stuff,
02:21or whatever it might be.
02:22I have to wonder about that and then wonder about the fallout.
02:26And the fallout to me is just so tremendous.
02:30We've had Todd Munkin in studio.
02:32We've talked to Todd Munkin.
02:33Todd Munkin is a, no, I'm an easy pigeon for people who are nice.
02:36If you're nice to me, I'm going to be pretty nice back and talk about you nice.
02:39Let's be serious.
02:41You are more, um, you're, you're, you're a more difficult judge than I am when it comes to that stuff.
02:48He was nice to you, but you'll, you'll still call it as you see it.
02:51And you seem to like, I'm like, I don't want to, I don't want to torpedo his season right before
02:55the season starts.
02:56Because now I got to go to these guys and go, yeah, we traded away our best defensive player, but
03:00we're still trying to make the playoffs, guys.
03:03We're still trying like, that's tough.
03:06So I really hope when I'm hearing that audio that I'm just starting to get fatigued from hearing it.
03:15And then I'm, I'm maybe getting a little bit too worked up.
03:18I'm hoping that I'm blowing this out of proportion a little bit.
03:21I really, really am because if they move on from him and they get those picks, those picks are going
03:26to be great.
03:26You were going to get a substantial haul back, but, and I will make myself feel better with that yet.
03:32There will still be, what are we doing this season?
03:34Is this season just a watch?
03:36Do you think I got 17 games to get through and that's going to be a slog if it doesn't
03:41go our way without that guy.
03:42Do you think a miles trade would be a shock to Todd Munkin?
03:47Yes.
03:50Wait, at this point, well, after I just heard Mike Rutenberg, I can't say yes.
03:53Well, like what if, what if when Todd Munkin interviewed and they asked January?
03:56Terry Todd Munkin or may Todd Munkin might not be that crazy to may Todd Munkin after I just heard
04:02what the defensive coordinator say.
04:04And it's, it, when the defensive coordinator is just hemming and hawing, it's like somebody got you ready for this
04:09question.
04:11Then you went and just beat them to the punch on it.
04:13And so now I'm like, did, what do you know?
04:15What do you know?
04:16What are they getting you ready for?
04:18Cause he could have, he could have answered and goes, yeah, the speculation is stupid.
04:22We don't do this anywhere else, guys.
04:23This is voluntary.
04:25Uh, it is that we want guys here, but if, if people have things they have to do, there's a
04:29CBA it's voluntary.
04:31I'll see him at mandatory minicamp.
04:33We expect him to be a mandatory minicamp.
04:35To me, it sounds like he didn't necessarily want to say that, but he, that's what he's supposed to say.
04:40Which one?
04:41Mike Rutenberg.
04:42I don't, I don't think he wanted to, I think he gave the company line, right?
04:46Yeah.
04:48I don't know that he necessarily believed that answer.
04:53Maybe.
04:54I don't know that they've talked for real.
04:56I just.
04:56Oh yeah.
04:57That, that's what I was wondering too.
04:58I go, have you actually spoken?
05:00I, I, I don't know if they spoke it.
05:02They've spoken.
05:04And I, there does come a time.
05:06And he comes off to me like a guy who just wants to put the truth out there, right?
05:09There does come a time when you hear this so often that it just starts to affect my brains and
05:14it affects my, my, my mental state of where the Browns are going to be in 2027.
05:18I ain't going to lie to anybody, but you guys tune in whether or not you want to tune in
05:23and hear it.
05:24And if you don't want to hear it, you tune out.
05:25That's fine.
05:26But for me, I get texted about it every day from all these people going, you are not seeing the
05:30truth here, Kenny.
05:31You need to recognize the truth.
05:33And I wonder if there are people out there who say, I'm either making a big deal out of this,
05:37which I hope they are.
05:38I hope that they say I'm acting crazy or are there people out there, Anthony, I do not have social
05:43media in front of me.
05:44Are they saying that finally I got my head out of the sand about this?
05:48It just depends.
05:49Like the, the, there's always the Homer part of the fan base and there's always the Doomer part of the
05:53fan base.
05:54And there seems to be no in between these days.
05:56So if you're the Homer part of the fan base, you're, you're saying basically what you had said, you know,
06:02up until yesterday or up until today, which is miles misses this every year.
06:07Non-story.
06:07And I've said that up until yesterday.
06:09And then I heard that answer.
06:10And then you played the Denzel Ward answer.
06:11He's like, yeah, I'm in constant contact.
06:13I'm not there all the time.
06:14And I'm texting all these coaches and I'm talking to Brandon Lynch and all these guys.
06:18I'm like, Oh God.
06:20Call when I wake up, call before bed.
06:22Yeah.
06:22It's like, listen to Denzel here yesterday at his youth football camp.
06:27Even though I haven't been there, like, uh, I've been with like coach Lynch.
06:30Uh, he's been calling me.
06:31We've been getting on calls and going over the playbook.
06:33And so I've still been learning the playbook and the new plays that's been going in.
06:36And, uh, so continue to do that.
06:38And then like, so I've been watching, uh, the practices that they've been doing and how they run the plays
06:43and how guys are looking.
06:44So I'm still involved just from afar.
06:46I'm looking at it from a different view.
06:48This, um, just give me like an Instagram post of you looking through a Microsoft surface.
06:53Wouldn't that be nice?
06:54Just give me one of those.
06:55I'll feel a lot better.
06:56As I've said throughout, it would be so easy to quiet all of this.
07:01This would be the easiest thing to quiet.
07:03I don't follow him on Instagram.
07:04I just, I need an Instagram story.
07:06Just him looking through something with Browns on it.
07:08That's all.
07:09And I'll feel a lot better about it.
07:10I have another question.
07:11Got some more audio to play for people here in a second about another person who could be a Cleveland
07:15Brown.
07:15Let me get the gene in Cleveland first.
07:16Gene, the dancing machine hit it.
07:18Yeah.
07:19Hey, listen, this media is way overblown.
07:21This is ridiculous.
07:22Why don't we worry about the guys?
07:25Garrett's got double digit sacks eight years in a row.
07:27Nobody else on the team has got 10.
07:29Alex Wright.
07:30Where's he at?
07:31You're hoping Logan Fagan.
07:32Fano can come through.
07:33You have nobody else on his team that can help this guy.
07:36This reminds me of Jim Brown when Modell sent Brown.
07:39He was going to fine him if he didn't come back to camp.
07:42Greatest running back ever.
07:43Well, no one's.
07:43Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
07:45Nobody is going after Miles Garrett saying he's bad.
07:49I just want to know he's going to be on the floor.
07:51This would be a topic of conversation right now.
07:53We have other problems on this team.
07:55The guy that hurt his knee yesterday, what has he done from Ohio State to tackle?
07:58He hasn't done anything.
08:02Well, because all of that stuff, though, is moot if they end up trading Miles Garrett, right?
08:06None of that stuff matters.
08:08Why would you trade the only guy you got?
08:10Why do any good players get traded ever?
08:12Because their timelines don't match the rest of the team.
08:15This is one of the greatest defensive players.
08:17Great players get traded all the time in sports.
08:18They're not the greatest in your team history.
08:22He's the greatest player.
08:24You got Jim Brown and him.
08:26They're the greatest athletic players ever to put on a Browns uniform.
08:29And no one's even close.
08:31They're in another stratosphere.
08:32No one's even.
08:33And the other thing, he has a life.
08:35He's out there enjoying his life.
08:37He's different.
08:38He's different.
08:39It's not about Gene.
08:41I have said, I don't know where.
08:42Alex Wright is not a problem to me.
08:44Or, I mean, Mike Hall.
08:45Did he end up being fine?
08:46They said they don't think it's severe or anything like that.
08:50Because, I mean, I want him to have a decent future here.
08:52I mean, my God, he was a second-round pick.
08:54Gene, it's not about him not being there.
08:56I don't need him to be there.
08:57I mean, I've made that abundantly clear.
09:00I just want to make sure he's on the team this year.
09:02That's what my issue is.
09:04He'll be on the team.
09:05Todd Monk.
09:06I hope you're right.
09:07Listen, Todd Monk went into the Baltimore locker room last year
09:13and said, we got to stop 95.
09:15You better believe he said that before the game when they played the Browns.
09:18And he still had four sacks in that game.
09:21He couldn't stop them.
09:22There's no way Monk or anybody else in this organization is going to let that go.
09:27So they're just...
09:28And if it happens what you just said to me, it's going to make me feel even worse.
09:31You think Miles is going to finish his career at Cleveland Brown?
09:35It's going to be close.
09:37I mean, he's going to sign another contract.
09:39He's not...
09:40That's true.
09:41Could do that.
09:42He could play...
09:43He could be 35 years old and still get 8 to 10 sacks.
09:47He's a genetic freak.
09:49He's a genetic accident.
09:50He's up there.
09:51People just aren't that big and can move that fast and bend the way he does.
09:55So there's no offer you would ever entertain for somebody this good?
10:01The minute you trade Miles Garrett for four or five first-round fast-foot picks, none of
10:07those players are going to be half as good as him.
10:10Yeah, but they've had him and they haven't won.
10:12So how do you form a football team that can win?
10:15And that's his fault?
10:16No.
10:17Nobody's saying it's his fault.
10:18No, no.
10:18No, Gene.
10:19Nobody's saying it's his fault.
10:20Gene, let's see.
10:21Right.
10:21So you need great players to win.
10:23I know where you're...
10:24Jim Brown only won one championship here, but they held on to him until they won it.
10:28Well, Gene, I know where you're coming from, okay?
10:30And I agree with you for the most part.
10:33Let me turn it in a different direction here, and thank you very much for the call.
10:37If you're trading him for a bunch of draft picks, there's only one position you're really
10:40worried about.
10:40See, this is why it's the perfect storm, is you have five different quarterbacks we're
10:44talking about.
10:45I mean, good God, we're about to talk about Brendan Soresby here in just a moment, once
10:48I get done with this sentence, is you know that quarterbacks matter, and they matter
10:53more than defensive ends.
10:55There's been...
10:55I mean, Joe Burrow's always going to be a threat, and his defensive end has been
10:58Trey Hendrickson, has been nice, and they don't care.
11:01Lamar Jackson's always a threat.
11:03These guys, they got good football players on their team.
11:04But you need to have that quarterback.
11:06And it is the perfect storm of getting yourself ready for 2027.
11:10Nobody, except for their most ardent fans, think that these guys that are in their quarterback
11:15room right now are franchise QBs.
11:17I mean, we're about to have a Brendan Soresby conversation here in a second.
11:20So I now can't deny that that's a possibility.
11:24Like, they could literally win more games next year without Myles Garrett and an average
11:32to below average player in his position, and a much better quarterback.
11:36That could alone have you win more games.
11:38Like, this notion that Myles Garrett is the only way you can win, when I see a team win
11:44the Super Bowl and go to the AFC Championship and NFC Championship game every year and make
11:47the playoffs every year, that don't have the best defensive player.
11:49Like, it's about building a team, and the question is, can they build a team right now
11:54while Myles is in his prime that he can help you?
11:58Because, I mean, he should be able to help you once you get to the playoffs.
12:02That's kind of where it is.
12:03Are you, when it comes to that quarterback, are you willing to give a chance to Brendan
12:08Soresby if he comes out in the supplemental draft?
12:10Oh, I'm investigating.
12:12I mean, without a doubt, Kenny, when I hear he could be a top five pick next year and
12:15you can get him this year without tanking.
12:17When you first brought it up, I was like, absolutely not.
12:19Then I got Brear 05 over here from the other day, where I'm like, okay, I could kind of
12:25hear this, but go right on ahead.
12:28If you're going to draft Brendan Toresby, you should do it with the idea that this is going
12:32to be a redshirt year for him.
12:34And with the benefit that if you do draft him and you do get him, maybe there's some sort
12:38of NFL suspension.
12:39I'm not sure how they're going to work that.
12:41There's obviously the Terrell Pryor precedent.
12:43You would hope that at least this was treated like a drug suspension where you can have
12:47the guy in the building and he can be doing some work with your people.
12:49And so you get to know him and you get kind of a head start on what would be his
12:53rookie
12:54year of 2027.
12:57That's that makes it much more palatable for me yet.
13:02If you get Brendan Soresby in the supplemental draft in July, I don't want to have already
13:07traded Miles Garrett then because then you're, you're, you're killing your season before
13:12it even starts.
13:12You're killing your father, Larry.
13:13You're killing your season before it even starts.
13:16I really, truly believe that.
13:18So we're going to have this guy in the supplemental draft.
13:20If you take him and he already has his own bowl of wax, we'll get to in just a moment.
13:25But now I have this guy who's in the hole here that might be on my team, might not be
13:29on my team.
13:30You got to get some stuff figured out with the NFL because of the gambling stuff.
13:33Then I go into next year's draft class.
13:35What am I going to do?
13:36Am I going to, am I going to, am I going to completely ignore Dante Moore?
13:40Say you don't get the number one overall pick.
13:42Am I going to ignore Dante Moore or Lenore Sellers or all those guys?
13:45Because I took Brendan Soresby who has an admitted gambling problem and he's got to get
13:50his stuff figured out with the NFL.
13:52If he doesn't get his injunction, I hope for the good of everybody, I hope he gets his
13:56injunction and he's able to play college football.
13:58And if he goes out there and he proves it fine, because I got Albert Breer in the same breath
14:02saying, well, there's been people who said he's going to be a top five guy.
14:04And I could say, yeah, there were people who thought that Drew Aller was going to be a
14:07top five guy.
14:08The guy's name was Andrew Barry.
14:10Had he had came out after the Notre Dame game, if the Notre Dame game went well for
14:13Drew Aller, they were going to take him in the top five.
14:15Damn it.
14:16Like, like this is what gets brought up.
14:18So you can give me Brendan Soresby might be a top five guy, but damn, man.
14:22I love this guy's athleticism and arm talent way more than Drew Aller.
14:25Matt Barkley could have been a first round pick.
14:27Garrett Nussmeyer was going to be a first round pick.
14:29You can go on and on with all these guys who ended up going back, ended up sucking
14:33up the room.
14:33And then we never heard from him again.
14:35So if you're telling me he could be a top five pick, that's great.
14:39But there's been plenty other guys who've been saying that, and I'm going to give up
14:42maybe a second round pick and the supplemental draft for him.
14:45And then I'm going to get rid of Miles Garrett before that too.
14:47Holy wow.
14:48And then I have to make sure that he doesn't have more problems gambling and ends up
14:53in problems with us.
14:54That's a big question.
14:54Which you have to ask yourself, do you or do you not believe?
14:59Do you or do you not believe that this is a football team that can support a guy who
15:04comes in with admitted problems?
15:07What do most Browns fans think?
15:09They've never been before, but maybe Todd Munkett, it's different.
15:13I don't know.
15:13Is the leper going to change its spots tone?
15:15I don't know.
15:15I don't know.
15:16I don't know.
