00:00If Shadour is the man, then just say it.
00:05Say it as soon as you can.
00:07Because I still think he needs the confidence of knowing
00:09that his head coach believes in him enough to hand him the ball
00:12to start the season off.
00:16History tells me that if Watson is healthy,
00:20and that is the key to the entire conversation,
00:24Yes, it is.
00:25Watson should be able to go out there
00:28and win the competition without even blinking an eye.
00:32If he's healthy and playing at maximum capacity.
00:37He's had so much time off.
00:39And if he's playing at 80% capacity,
00:41and I'm thinking 80% of what we saw a long time ago
00:45before he ever came here,
00:46if he's 80% of that,
00:48I would assume he's able to beat out Shadour Sanders.
00:51And that's not about Shadour,
00:53but that's how good Deshaun was at one point.
00:55And you would think that to Todd Munkin that would be crystal clear.
00:59Yeah.
01:00Especially knowing that.
01:01He'll know.
01:01He'll know.
01:02Especially knowing that.
01:03And, you know, we say this all the time
01:05when someone's in a contract here,
01:06but, you know, Deshaun's playing for another season
01:10if he wants to keep playing or not.
01:13And so he should be motivated to want to be at peak performance
01:17making peak decisions when he gets out on the field,
01:21although we're not going to know until they actually play a game.
01:26Boy, you would think that Watson should be able,
01:29if Watson's the guy that people want him to be,
01:34he should be able to just jump out right away and take the job.
01:38There shouldn't be any questions.
01:39I would agree with that, but there are questions.
01:43But I agree with exactly what you said.
01:45I would think he's the guy.
01:47That said, it looks like, and it's my favorite line I've read in some time,
01:54Dan Lobby from the Plain Dealer saying,
01:56they are going to add somebody, right?
01:58Or are we really going to get the Deshaun-Shadour competition
02:01that they're threatening us with?
02:05Dan, I never cease to chuckle when I think or say that line.
02:08It's outstanding.
02:12That said, right now that's where you're sitting.
02:15Josh Edwards covers football for CBS Sports,
02:20and he went to Twitter the other day and wrote something about it,
02:24and he says, my guess is that Will Levis, who is in Tennessee,
02:28and of course, they have Cam Ward there now.
02:29They brought in Will as a second-round pick and then brought in Cam Ward.
02:33He said, Will Levis is traded to the Packers,
02:36and Anthony Richardson is traded to the Browns.
02:40He did this the other day.
02:44I don't know where that gets you.
02:45Again, I ask you, if Deshaun Watson is who we just said he could be,
02:54why do you need to bring him in?
02:56I'll tell you why in a second, but interestingly enough,
02:59Josh Edwards was on with the guys over the weekend,
03:03Spencer German and Earl the Pearl.
03:05And this is what Josh Edwards had to say in regards to the quarterback situation
03:10and Anthony Richardson in talking to Spencer and Earl.
03:13Ultimately think that Will Levis and Anthony Richardson will be moved before the draft
03:18because both of their teams have already made amends to that
03:22or signed a backup quarterback.
03:24I think the Browns are going to be in that conversation for those two players.
03:27I think a team like the Packers, who are trying to replace Malik Willis,
03:31are going to be in that conversation.
03:33So I think it makes more sense if you're a team like the Browns
03:37who could get one of those former first-round picks with a day-three pick somewhere,
03:42whether that's a fourth or a fifth-round pick.
03:45You're talking about the same draft capital you would use on one of these potential rookies.
03:49That's a more worthwhile dart throw to me than going down the route of a Carson Beck
03:54or a Drew Aller.
03:57I couldn't agree with him more.
03:58Yeah, I don't disagree with that at all.
04:00I just think there's something to be said for experience.
04:04It's the right way to put it.
04:06And so if you wanted to bring in either one of those guys over.
04:08Richardson has some.
04:09But we're talking about doing this instead of drafting a quarterback this year,
04:12which to me makes a lot of sense.
04:14The idea of drafting a quarterback this year makes no sense to me.
04:19None.
04:19Unless they do it early, Jeff.
04:21Then all of a sudden.
04:22Well, that changes the dynamic.
04:24You don't expect that, do you?
04:27You're talking about Ty Simpson.
04:29Jeff, I want to believe that they're not thinking about doing that.
04:34And I'm not.
04:35It's the Browns.
04:36Jeff, they will do what you do not expect them to do.
04:39And please be prepared for them to trade six out.
04:45Especially, I'm just saying this, and you can sit on this.
04:49Ohio State fans that might be sitting there where, you know,
04:52there could be a really, really good Buckeye on the board.
04:55And the Browns go, see you.
04:56And move back in the draft.
04:58And let it slip through their hands.
04:59And then we get to sit back for the next few years and watch.
05:03Maybe, perhaps.
05:04I'm not even going to say it because I don't want it to happen.
05:06But a very, very good Ohio State player goes somewhere else
05:10because the Browns decided to trade back.
05:13Here's why.
05:14And you know I've been intrigued by Anthony Richardson for some time.
05:19This is the reason.
05:20He's still younger than Gabriel and Sanders.
05:23That's not going to change, by the way.
05:26When you're younger, you usually stay that way.
05:28It's interesting how that works.
05:32Unless they're in a multiverse.
05:34At one point, he was so highly thought of that he was a top five pick.
05:39And he has the physical skills and the physical build
05:43and the arm and the running ability
05:47that if I'm Todd Munkin, I want to get my hands on that guy.
05:52And I want to see if I can be the guy to do it.
05:55You're not going to like me.
05:56Hold on.
05:56Hold on.
05:57And he doesn't have to do it this year.
06:00That's the catch to me.
06:02He doesn't have to come in here and be the guy.
06:06Tell me you're going to get somebody in the 2027 draft
06:10who has the physical gifts that Anthony Richardson has.
06:16And, you know, maybe you could.
06:18That'd be wonderful.
06:19And if that's – because this is certainly looking like a 2027
06:24we're getting a quarterback thing.
06:27Unless Shador happens to pop and is great.
06:30That's why I would go – I would swap, you know,
06:35get Anthony Richardson and a seventh for a sixth.
06:38Okay.
06:38And if you could do that for a guy who was a top five pick, Andy,
06:41why wouldn't you?
06:43At least give him a look.
06:45Based on your argument, though, not argument, just wisdom.
06:50Or BS.
06:51Yeah.
06:53You would – if I wanted to debate you on that,
06:56I would go back and say, well, there were a lot of people
06:59that thought Shador Sanders should have been one of the top two picks
07:01in the draft.
07:02Well, he wasn't, though.
07:03I know, but you're – like, if you believe that he should have been
07:10in the top five, let's just say top five of the draft.
07:12I'll be nice.
07:14And instead of a fifth-round pick, because of extenuating circumstances
07:19that were outside of his control, if you believe that,
07:21if you were Todd Munkin, wouldn't you also want to put that kind of effort
07:26and energy into said quarterback, right?
07:29Like, if you're going to use the logic of, based on what he was coming out,
07:37that I don't think you can.
07:38Like, I think you can –
07:40You're making –
07:41If that's the case, then I'm going with Shador.
07:43He's already here.
07:44It doesn't cost you anything.
07:45And, you know, I want to work with him, too.
07:47Richardson wouldn't cost you much at all.
07:49No, I know that.
07:50But I'm also – but what it does cost you is –
07:54Not reps, because you're not sharing them equally.
07:56Well, and it's a headache thing.
07:58You know, like, it's like, okay –
07:59Why would it be a headache?
08:00Talented football players, those aren't headaches.
08:04Those are helps.
08:07I'm looking for a clear-cut answer.
08:09I am so tired of being groggy about what the quarterback is or isn't.
08:14I want this team to stand behind a quarterback, and I want that quarterback to rise to the occasion
08:19and go out there and play.
08:21And I don't really have a lot of hope for this season, but you better believe a year from now,
08:26after the draft, that I hope we're in that position.
08:30All I know is that of the four quarterbacks, the three that are here and Anthony Richardson,
08:36the one who intrigues me the most is Anthony Richardson.
08:41And I would love to see Todd Munkin get his hands on this guy and see if he can coach
08:48him up.
08:49He turns 24 in May.
08:51Young guy, did not play very well in Indianapolis.
08:56And, of course, you know, checked himself out of the game.
08:58Okay?
08:59Young guy, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, whatever.
09:03I think taking a flyer on a guy like that –
09:06and the Colts gave him permission to try and seek a trade.
09:10Taking a flyer on a young guy like that makes all the sense in the world to me.
09:16And then your coaching staff can look at him, see what they think.
09:19If they don't like him, get rid of him.
09:21But I think he's – I think he has much more physical talent than any of the quarterbacks who are
09:27here.
09:30Can Todd Munkin coach him up and get him to be to the level that many folks thought he would
09:35be coming out of the draft?
09:36That's why I'd take a chance and see what you get because it won't cost you very much.
09:41Our buddy Scott Petrack kind of feeling, you know, this smells like Shadur.
09:46And then Deshaun Watson is there.
09:50But Scott thinks best overall it would probably be to go with Shadur.
09:55And I – best case scenario is that Shadur shows he should win the job that he does.
10:00And the way this is stacked right now, I would agree with that.
10:03But I brought up Anthony Richardson after reports over the weekend, and you heard him right here on the fan,
10:11talking about Anthony Richardson and the Browns as a destination for him.
10:17And I do think that's interesting.
10:20Josh Edwards from CBS is the guy who said it, and he wrote it for CBS, and he said it
10:24here on our air.
10:25And we heard that a little bit ago.
10:27He also mentioned Will Levis.
10:30And Will Levis was maybe going to be the answer in Tennessee and went down and didn't do a phenomenal
10:38job,
10:39and then they stunk, and then they got the number one pick, and they took Cam Ward.
10:44Dan's laughing.
10:46Can we just point out the wording of didn't do a phenomenal job and Will Levis?
10:51That was so kind, it was ridiculous.
10:54I'm not going to say anybody stunk.
10:56Look, that, you know, I mean, when a guy is 28, 29 years old and stinks, well, you can go
11:03ahead and say he stinks.
11:04That's like when you go to your kid's second grade art show and your wife and you look at each
11:08other and go,
11:09well, that was something nice.
11:12That finger painting was awesome.
11:14Wow.
11:14Yeah.
11:15That really looks like it happened.
11:18Those primary colors on the thumb are fantastic.
11:23Uh-huh.
11:23That's what that was.
11:26Forgive me for not being a complete jackass all the time.
11:30Will was the first pick in the second round back in the 2023 draft, and they thought they had something
11:36there.
11:37And, you know, he's not been real good.
11:42But you could make the argument, Andy, that he is a guy who could come in and be your starting
11:47quarterback,
11:48either here or elsewhere.
11:49And remember in that, in 2024, he was okay.
11:55He had improved over his rookie season, completed 63% of his passes through 13 touchdowns, 12 picks, just over
12:042,000 yards in 12 games.
12:06Titans were lousy.
12:07They were 2-10, which led them to Cam Ward.
12:11And I wonder, had they not been lousy and been the team sitting there for Cam Ward, would Will Levis
12:18still be their starting quarterback?
12:20They brought in Mitch Trubisky as their backup this year, which is why Will Levis is available.
12:25And I just wonder, Dan, even you, Dan, would have to agree with this.
12:31He's had more success in his NFL career than Anthony Richardson.
12:38Just...
12:39Well, see, here...
12:40What are we doing?
12:42Here's what we're doing.
12:43What is this?
12:44What we're doing is this.
12:46We're praying that his shoulder was the problem in 24?
12:50You're going to bring in a guy who puts mayonnaise in his coffee and hand him the keys to the
12:54franchise?
12:55What we're going to do is this.
12:56If he puts mayonnaise in his coffee and is proud of it.
12:59What we're going to do is this.
13:01We're going to talk about options because the ones who are here don't float my boat real well.
13:07Shadur, crapshoot.
13:08Okay, fine.
13:11Deshaun Watson, crapshoot at this point.
13:13Okay, fine.
13:14Dylan Gabriel, double crapshoot.
13:17Okay?
13:18That said...
13:19Not here.
13:20I was going to say, this sounds like Spaulding Smales up the fairway.
13:22That said, this just completely looks like a situation where the Browns are going to make do at quarterback
13:32and go into the 2027 draft and draft a quarterback.
13:35Jeff?
13:36Yeah.
13:36Let me finish this.
13:37And that's okay?
13:38Let me finish this.
13:39But what if you could bring in a guy like Richardson or Will Levis, give him to the quarterback whisperer,
13:46Todd Munkin,
13:46and see what he can do?
13:48Jeff, you'll have nothing and like it.
13:52Did you have to look that line up?
13:53No, I knew the line.
13:54I didn't have to look it up.
13:56Jerk.
13:58Except what you're doing is you're not even ordering out of the concession stand.
14:02You're digging in the garbage can next to it.
14:04Well, you know why?
14:05No, I want a hamburger.
14:06You know why?
14:07No, I want a cheeseburger.
14:08Is he going to eat it?
14:09Just take the...
14:1150 bucks says he eats it.
14:1220 bucks.
14:1350.
14:1450.
14:1450?
14:14Says he eats it.
14:15I trust you.
14:16Is it 50?
14:17Yes, 50 says he eats it.
14:18That was a lot of money back then.
14:19Yeah, I was going to say, damn, in the 70s.
14:20They're going to go big time for that.
14:21It was in the 80s.
14:22I mean, it was Brian Doyle Murray, too.
14:24It wasn't even Bill.
14:25That's the point.
14:27I didn't have to look that up either, Jeff.
14:29I just make this point.
14:34Can you tell me that Shadour or Deshaun Watson would be better this year and beyond than Will
14:44Levis?
14:45Oh, I'm going to Bobby Knight on you.
14:47Hang on.
14:47I got a bottle.
14:48If you're watching, I need to...
14:49Can you tell me that they'll be better than Anthony Richardson?
14:54That's my only point.
14:55No, but just eat your Spam.
14:57I'm not...
14:57I don't understand why you're trying to eat something else besides the Spam that you've
15:01been served.
15:01I think you're trying to force a free agent on it.
15:03I haven't had Spam in a long time.
15:04It's fantastic with eggs.
15:05Eat your Spam.
15:06I haven't had it in a long time.
15:07I don't know why you're trying to find something else besides what's here that's not better than
15:12what's here.
15:12Just accept what's in front of you.
15:14Eat your Spam.
15:15Hi, take this lump of mediocrity here.
15:18Keep your fingers crossed that Todd can coach that up.
15:21I would just like to add another piece to the mediocrity.
15:25And see if Todd can get something out of that.
15:27Eat your Spam.
15:28Just eat it.
15:29Jeff, you can put cheese on that thing and it's not filet mignon.
15:31Darn right.
15:32You're not saving this.
15:33There's nothing you are going to throw out right now that is going to save the quarterback
15:37situation.
15:38Are you satisfied with the three question marks that are here?
15:44The Browns just might be and that's okay.
15:46No, but everything else is a question mark too.
15:49This isn't, there's nothing.
15:50There's no clarity.
15:50It's an important position in sports and they're sitting there thinking, eh, Deshaun hasn't
15:55played in 17 years, but by golly, that surgically repaired shoulder might be okay.
15:59Watch out for that Achilles.
16:01How about this one, Jeff?
16:02Hey, maybe we're going to suck this year and that might not be the worst thing ever because
16:05we might get another quarterback next year in the draft.
16:08You know, Andy, Andy, I get that except, except for this.
16:12You ready?
16:13They keep telling us they want to win games.
16:16Well, they better.
16:17They're trying to sell tickets.
16:18They keep telling us they want to win games.
16:20That's lovely.
16:21I keep telling you I want to lose weight yet.
16:23Here I am.
16:26You keep telling us you're going to win the lottery and split the cash with us, but I
16:30already at least give us a little bit splitting anything.
16:32If I win the biggie, you each get a mill.
16:35All right, cool.
16:35We'll know when Jeff wins it because we'll never see him again.
16:38Wait, do we have to pay tax on that too?
16:39Yeah, you get a million and a half and then you can pay tax.
16:42Well, yeah, that's true.
16:45I don't know.
16:46I'm just saying, guys, I keep looking at the guys who are here and I keep
16:50thinking, okay.
16:54Stop looking.
16:55That's what I, I just think, okay, fine.
16:59Jeff, you're bringing up these other guys and I feel the same way.
17:03All they're telling me is that we're looking for our quarterback next year.
17:07Or we're hoping to get really lucky with Shadour, especially maybe Dylan Gabriel.
17:15I don't even think that anymore.
17:17And Jeff, it's a clean slate.
17:19And maybe Deshaun.
17:20Maybe Deshaun.
17:22Well, Todd's not mentioned much about Dylan Gabriel.
17:25Yeah, I wouldn't.
17:26You wouldn't count him in this.
17:28It's a two guy race.
17:29Gabriel thing doesn't make any sense right now.
17:31None of it.
17:32It's a two guy race.
17:33The only person it made sense to was Kevin.
17:35If I could bring in Will Levis or especially Anthony Richardson, hold on,
17:41and dispatch Dylan Gabriel, I would feel better about the threesome at quarterback
17:47and think that maybe, just maybe, we have a guy who could be a good quarterback.
17:55And Richardson would be that guy more than Will Levis for me.
17:58Excuse me, deckhand, can you take that chair over there and move it to the starboard side
18:02of the Titanic?
18:04Jeff, you've been kidnapped by Kmart.
18:09Seriously.
18:10I mean, really, ask yourself in your heart there, Bette Midler.
18:14Do you think any one of these guys is going to make a difference?
18:20I think Anthony, I think Anthony, I've got to tell you, Bette Midler did look good after
18:24hitting the treadmill there for a couple of weeks and were ruthless people.
18:27She was great on Seinfeld.
18:28Oh, Danny DeVito was awesome in that movie.
18:32Yes, he was.
18:33He was so good.
18:34I honestly think Anthony Richardson still has an outside chance of becoming a pretty good
18:40NFL quarterback.
18:42And I would be willing to take a chance and give up, I don't even need to get your lousy
18:48seventh round pick in return.
18:49I'll give you a sixth for him and bring him in.
18:52And if he's no good, okay, cost you a sixth round pick that Andrew Barry wouldn't have
18:56got right anyway.
18:58I don't know.
18:59I mean, he got his picks right last year, although he gave away that.
19:03He didn't have a sixth last year.
19:04No, I know.
19:05But you know what he should do is just trade the third round pick for as long as he ever
19:10think, let's just say he thinks he's going to be here 10 more years.
19:13Just get to the three-year mark.
19:15Every three years, just throw away that third round pick because he's been outstanding at
19:19that.
19:21I don't understand.
19:24You guys don't agree on the quarterback thing, though?
19:27I mean, wouldn't you rather have Will Levis or Anthony Richardson than Dylan Gabriel as
19:33the third quarterback here?
19:34Okay, sure.
19:35Yeah.
19:35And maybe...
19:36No, because it makes no difference.
19:38Well, I think it does.
19:40I honestly think those two guys are developable.
19:45Isn't Gabriel, though, too?
19:46I mean, you could say that.
19:47No, I don't.
19:47You know why, Andy?
19:48Because I don't like five-foot-nine-inch quarterbacks.
19:50I know.
19:51I just don't.
19:52I'm sorry.
19:53You know, Dylan throws a nice ball and everything else.
19:56He's 5'10 on a good day.
19:59And give me Anthony Richardson at 6'5", 6'4", 244 pounds, and runs like a running back and
20:08then runs you over like he's a linebacker.
20:10Give me that guy.
20:12Give me that guy.
20:14Give me Will Levis at 6'4", like 240, 230, who can throw.
20:20Give me those guys.
20:21I don't need the little guy.
20:23I didn't need him when they drafted him.
20:27We've talked about Dylan because he was the third-round pick, and they obviously liked
20:30him better than Shadour at the time.
20:33Whether the new coaching staff does or not, who knows?
20:35Whether the guy who drafted them liked Shadour better, who knows?
20:40All I know is, man, if you're going to give me a choice, I'm getting rid of Dylan, and I'm
20:45going to bring in Anthony Richardson or Will Levis and let those guys compete.
20:49And maybe they beat the snot out of Shadour and Deshaun Watson in a competition.
20:54And then you might have your starting quarterback and not have to draft one in the 2027 draft.
