00:00Hello, good afternoon. The heat wave continues across the west. Across the east though, it's
00:05going to be a much cooler day today than the previous days. That's because we've got high
00:10pressure pushing across the UK. It's been here for a while, sinking the air across the
00:15UK, causing it to heat. And that's why the temperatures have been so exceptionally high.
00:19But the position of that high pressure means we've got an easterly wind pushing in across
00:24more eastern areas. And that's going to drag in some cloud, bring a fresher feel here.
00:28But it was a very warm night across the southwest. Temperatures didn't dip below 21.4 degrees
00:35across Cornwall last night. That was in Camborne, setting a new provisional record for the highest
00:43UK minimum temperature for May. Now, it is going to be another warm night tonight, but it's
00:49not going to be quite as warm as last night. Temperatures will slowly start to ebb away
00:54once we get into tomorrow. There's a risk of thunderstorms developing, though,
00:58across many southwestern areas. We've also seen some heavy showers already through this
01:02morning across the southeast. But for most of us, it's going to be a hot and sunny day.
01:08Still some cloud lingering through much of the day, though, across parts of eastern and
01:12southern Scotland, in particular, perhaps the north coast of the eastern parts of England,
01:17too, where we get that easterly wind continuing through the day. So it's going to bring a fresher
01:21feel for many of those areas. Temperatures just in the high teens across many eastern
01:26areas into East Anglia as well. Across the west, though, a big difference. Temperatures
01:31in the low 30s still. And actually across the northwest, we're probably going to see the
01:35highest temperatures of the week so far across Northern Ireland and western Scotland. This
01:39is how the temperatures today, the maximum temperatures compared to the temperatures from yesterday.
01:45And you can see for parts of Northern Ireland down into central and western areas of the UK into the
01:51northwest of Scotland. It's going to be a warmer day today. Across the east, though, with that
01:55easterly wind feeling cooler. But the heat will return across the east into Thursday. That's where
02:02temperatures take a final peak before they slowly ebb away into the weekend. We'll see the end of the
02:07heat wave by this weekend. But that risk of thunderstorms due to the heat continues through this evening
02:13across parts of Wales into parts of Northern England. We may not see too much rain actually
02:18reaching the ground, but we could see some quite frequent lightning, some hail as well. We saw some
02:22unusually large hail for the UK yesterday. There's a risk of more of that later this afternoon and into
02:28the early part of the evening. The southerly winds start to move in through this evening. That does a
02:34few things. It pushes much of the cloud across the east away, but it also drags in some mist and
02:39murk across the south and west. So it's going to be a bit of a murky start to the day
02:43across parts of Cornwall as well as southwest Wales. Those of us away for half term may notice
02:49a bit of a difference in the start of the day, but it's still going to be a pretty mild
02:52start
02:52actually. Quite warm, in fact, across the south. Temperatures in the mid-teens as well for Northern
02:58Ireland and Western Scotland. Across the east, though, still quite fresh with a lot of cloud lingering.
03:04Bit of a murky start here as well. So a bit more cloud through Thursday to come. That cloud will
03:09push
03:10up from the southwest, covering much of the southwest into Wales. It's very thin clouds, so it brings
03:14sort of milky, hazy sunshine. Across the north and east, though, a warmer and sunnier day, more in the
03:21way of sunshine with southerly winds pushing in. So you will notice a difference across the east,
03:27with temperatures climbing back into the 20s, if not the 30s, across parts of the southeast. Again,
03:32a pretty hot day, to be honest, across the south and west, but just not quite as hot as today.
03:37You can see how
03:38those temperatures compare for tomorrow compared to today. And you can see across parts of South
03:43Wales, southern England in particular, it's going to be a much cooler day. Temperatures a good five
03:48or six degrees cooler for some areas, but a hotter day again across the east. Still the probably the
03:53hottest day of this hot spell across more parts of western Scotland to come on Thursday. Temperatures
04:00returning into the 30s for London. So through Thursday, we could see a further risk of some heavy
04:07showers into the south and east through Thursday evening. Most of us, though, seeing a pretty dry
04:12day. Plenty of late sunshine as well before the sun goes down. And we see more cloud pushing in,
04:19southwesterly winds starting to pick up. That's ahead of Friday. It could be quite a breezy day
04:23on Friday. And we start to see that change to more Atlantic, unsettled weather as we head into the
04:29weekend. And that heat wave that's been with us for a while will finally end for those of us not
04:35enjoying the heat at the moment. But remember, there's a risk of thunderstorms throughout the
04:39next couple of days. So please stay tuned to the forecast. Don't forget to keep checking in on
