00:00Good afternoon. I think most of us will have noticed the difference to the feel in the weather.
00:04Much fresher and much cooler for many of us through this afternoon.
00:08Still relatively warm in any sunshine, which there will still be some of,
00:12particularly across southern areas through this afternoon.
00:14But on this morning's satellite picture, you can see cloudier skies across more northern areas
00:19and cloudier skies pushing into the northwest.
00:22That's the next batch of rain set to move in through this evening.
00:25But ahead of that, it's remaining largely dry across the UK.
00:28We've got this high pressure extending across the UK to bring plenty of dry weather.
00:33A few showers, though, across more northern areas of England in particular,
00:37some areas of southern Scotland as well.
00:39They're quite light, though, and they will continue into this afternoon.
00:42But I think for most of us, it is going to remain largely dry.
00:45The winds will ease across more eastern areas of the UK as well into this afternoon.
00:50So for many of us, it will feel pretty fine and pleasant in any sunshine,
00:54particularly across the south, where temperatures will climb towards the low 20s.
00:58But for most of us, temperatures are going to be between 18 and 20 degrees,
01:03which is a little below average for the time of year.
01:05The first time we've seen that in quite a while.
01:08So make the most of the cooler weather if you've been looking forward to it,
01:11as it's not going to last that long into this weekend.
01:14But Friday is going to be another relatively dry day for many of us.
01:18Overnight tonight, we see rain push into more northwestern areas of Scotland.
01:22It will turn heavy at times across the Western Isles and the Highlands.
01:25Winds touching gale force across the Western Isles as well by the early hours of Friday.
01:31Elsewhere, a relatively dry picture, some mist and fog developing.
01:34You can see a few showers moving in land across some areas of northern England,
01:39perhaps across the southwest.
01:40But I think you'll be pretty lucky to catch one of these overnight.
01:44So for most of us, a clear picture.
01:46And temperatures will fall away a little bit lower than they have done lately.
01:49So quite a cool night to come rurally in the countryside that could be down into the low single figures.
01:55So a bit of a fresh start to Friday.
01:57But the sun will soon get to work.
01:59So it will still feel quite warm in the sunshine.
02:01Friday is going to be a warmer day than Thursday because there will be more sunshine around.
02:06Less in the way of cloud, particularly across England and Wales.
02:09Different story, though, for the far north and west of Scotland in particular,
02:13where the rain will persist through much of the day.
02:16But a dry day for Northern Ireland and elsewhere across Scotland and light winds too.
02:21So as I said, feeling a little bit warmer on Friday.
02:23Temperatures climbing towards the mid-20s.
02:2525 degrees in the south and east, the low 20s for much of England and Wales.
02:30Even the low 20s across more southeastern areas of Scotland.
02:33So quite a pleasant day, to be honest.
02:36We'll turn a little bit hotter as we head towards the weekend.
02:39As we start to pick up these southerly winds across the UK.
02:43So another risk of some mist and fog ahead of this warmer weekend for parts of England and Wales.
02:49And then rain will start to spread in from the north and west.
02:52So a bit of a split picture north-west to south and east for this weekend.
02:56But Claire will have all the details on your full weekend forecast on YouTube later on today.
03:02Bye-bye.
