00:00Hello, good afternoon. Quite a lot of sunshine around for many of us today, but it will still
00:05feel quite fresh in the shade. And once the sun goes down, it's going to be a chilly one tonight.
00:10Now we've got a bit of cloud around. You can see the satellite picture from this morning,
00:14a thicker band of cloud across more central areas of the UK. That's where we've got a cold front.
00:19Now that's moving southwards through today. So after a brighter start to the day, some more cloud
00:23and a spell of wetter weather will push into more southern areas. Meanwhile, it's brightening up
00:28across more northern areas. Having said that though, a northeasterly wind will continue to
00:34bring cloud across more eastern coasts of northern areas and quite a severe wind chill as well. So
00:40it will feel particularly fresh across north sea coasts. Now any rain that pushes into the south
00:45should be fairly light. I don't think it will last all that long, but it will likely be a cloudier
00:50afternoon here. And then with fairly limited sunshine into the late afternoon, temperatures
00:54struggling to climb much above the low double digits. For many of us will be around 10,
01:0011 degrees. Could just about get to around 15 degrees in the south because it's pretty warm
01:05in the sunshine, particularly if it is sheltered. But once the sun goes down, there will be a
01:11significant chill tonight, particularly across England and Wales. Rurally, we could see temperatures
01:16down as low as minus five. Further north, this next band of rain pushes in from the northwest
01:21overnight, bringing more in the way of cloud to Northern Ireland, much of northern and central
01:26parts of Scotland. So it will be a milder night here than last night. But for the south, it's going
01:31to be a much colder night than last night. As I said, rurally down to around minus five, minus six,
01:37possibly. We could still see a frost though across parts of southern Scotland and much of northern
01:42England. It's rural areas where we are expecting that frost to develop. So gardeners, beware overnight
01:48tonight. But there will be some brighter weather around to start Tuesday once again for many
01:52southern areas. Further north, this band of cloud and rain sinks south and eastwards. It will fragment
01:57quite a lot of showery rain really into the afternoon. Many of us should stay relatively dry
02:01through the day. But again, it turns cloudier across the south into the afternoon. Very similar story
02:07to today, in fact, to come on Tuesday. The difference being, though, that the wind direction is slightly
02:12different. It's still quite fresh, but a northwesterly, which means more western areas will be slightly
02:18fresher, with more eastern areas slightly warmer. So temperatures around 12 to 14 degrees. So
02:25somewhat warmer day. You can see the temperatures tomorrow compared to today. For many eastern areas,
02:30after quite a fresh breeze through today, tomorrow will be a little bit warmer. Whilst on the west,
02:35well, it looks a bit fresher into tomorrow. But temperatures quite widely still, just below average
02:40for this point in May. And we are expecting it to stay quite cool through the rest of the week
02:44too.
02:45Through Tuesday night, once again, we could see a touch of frost developing for many southern
02:50areas. In particular, the winds are quite strong further north and west, and that should restrict
02:54any frost forming. But it's going to feel fresh. Some quite persistent showers pushing through
02:59on Wednesday as well. So an unsettled rest of the week to come. But if you'd like more details
03:04on your full week ahead forecast, well, Alex Deacon will have all the details for you later on today
03:10on YouTube. So make sure you check it out. And I'll see you again a little bit later. Bye bye.
