00:00Hello, very good day to you. Now, it is still hot across parts of the southeast today, just not as
00:06hot as it was yesterday.
00:07And we have things turning fresher from the northwest through the next 24 hours or so.
00:13That's because there is a front, a cold front lying, and it's making its way southeastwards across the UK.
00:19I did want to highlight high pressure out in the Atlantic at the moment and also some other weather systems.
00:24These are important for what's happening next week. But let's focus on what's happening through today.
00:30And this front has brought some rain across parts of Scotland in particular, but it's not bringing a huge amount,
00:36just a bit more cloud, really, to many places.
00:38And yes, that fresher air that's making its way in.
00:42So by this afternoon, still hot and sunny across the southeast, but elsewhere, a lot more cloud than we've seen
00:48through recent days for many parts of England and Wales.
00:50A few spots of rain, yes, across parts of northern and western Scotland, perhaps Northern Ireland, some relatively frequent showery
00:57rain, but nothing particularly heavy, really.
01:00And there will be some brightness around, even though it is quite cloudy.
01:03As I mentioned, yes, still hot in the southeast, but when we saw temperatures in excess of 38 Celsius yesterday,
01:08we're looking at highs of around 35 Celsius today.
01:12So a bit of a drop, still hot nonetheless.
01:14Fresher temperatures nearer normal towards the north and west behind that front with the cloud, a bit of rain as
01:19well.
01:21Into the evening, and the front does make its way across parts of the southeast, so things will turn a
01:27bit cloudier here.
01:28Could be some heavy, thundery showers developing overnight, particularly during the early hours of Saturday morning across eastern parts of
01:35England, Lincolnshire, East Anglia.
01:37Maybe London could see some heavy downpours, 20, 30 millimetres perhaps, in just a couple of hours.
01:43Elsewhere, a bit of cloud here and there, a bit of showery rain, especially across northwestern parts of Scotland.
01:48Here it's going to be quite frequent.
01:50Because of that fresher air that's coming in, temperatures are going to be a bit lower than they have been
01:54through some recent nights, especially across the south.
01:57But nonetheless, it's still going to be very warm.
01:5920, 21 Celsius perhaps a little bit high, but we may have a tropical night in the far southeast.
02:05I think most places will dip into the teens.
02:08Low teen or low double digits across some northern areas.
02:11In fact, some rural spots will drop into single figures.
02:15Then Saturday, a few hefty showers still across parts of the east of England first thing, but they will clear
02:21away.
02:21And then a few showers dotted around elsewhere across other parts of England, Wales, Northern Ireland.
02:26Most of them will clear through the morning as well, so largely dry by the afternoon.
02:30Not across Scotland.
02:31Here, the showery rain will continue to pile in from the northwest.
02:34Some heavier ones across northern and western parts, and eventually the showery bursts of rain will feed to eastern and
02:39southern areas as well.
02:41Now, there will be some sunshine around, but not as much as recent days across parts of the southeast.
02:46It is looking a fair bit cloudier here.
02:48And with that fresher air and less sunshine, well, temperatures will be markedly down as well.
02:52Still mid to high 20s across some parts of the south, southeast.
02:56So that is still hot, but it's just not as exceptionally hot as it has been through yesterday and also
03:01through today.
03:02And, yes, temperatures elsewhere will be much nearer normal.
03:06A quick look towards Sunday, and it's a sunnier picture across central and southern parts of England first thing.
03:12A bit more cloud developing through the afternoon for fair places, but still quite bright.
03:17And then across much of Scotland and northern England, cloud building through the day as rain across northern Ireland edges
03:23its way in.
03:24It doesn't look especially heavy, but just turning a bit damp while central and southern parts should stay dry.
03:29It will be a little bit fresher across those central and southern areas compared to Saturday, but still very warm,
03:35if not even hot perhaps in a few places.
03:38And then again, temperatures near average or high teens, low 20s, so maybe a little bit above average for some
03:42places further north.
03:44There is more changeable weather to come next week.
03:47More rain perhaps than we've seen so far this month for some parts of England and Wales.
