29 June - National morning forecast presented by Annie Shuttleworth.
Transcript
00:00Good afternoon. A bit of relief from last week's heat for many of us this week.
00:04Still got high pressure dominating the weather in southern areas.
00:07It's still going to feel quite warm as well, particularly in the sunshine.
00:10But areas of low pressure will bring rain at times.
00:13We do have an area of low pressure out in the Atlantic.
00:15You can see that on the satellite picture from this morning.
00:19That's going to push in from the west throughout today.
00:22But ahead of that, this azores high still influencing our weather,
00:25bringing plenty of dry and bright weather, particularly in the east.
00:29But there will be some rainfall across the west in the form of showers,
00:33relatively light through much of the day.
00:35It's not until this evening and into tomorrow where we see any heavier showers,
00:39perhaps some thunderstorms as well.
00:41So plenty of sunny spells, particularly across more eastern areas.
00:44It will still feel quite warm as well.
00:46High UV levels despite that cloud cover as well.
00:50Temperatures climbing towards 24 degrees in the southeast,
00:53widely in the low 20s central southern England.
00:55High teens further north and across the far west as well.
00:59We've got a slightly fresher breeze here as well.
01:01The winds will strengthen through tonight across the west,
01:03thanks to this area of low pressure.
01:05And spells of quite heavy rain will push up across parts of Northern Ireland
01:08and parts of Scotland.
01:10Central areas of Scotland, the central belt,
01:12is where we could see the heaviest rainfall throughout tonight
01:14and into Tuesday as well.
01:17There's a risk of some thundery downpours on these showers into Tuesday.
01:20Some strong, gusty, westerly winds as well through the day.
01:24However, it is going to be quite a mild night tonight with all that cloud around.
01:28Definitely warmer than last night.
01:29Temperatures holding up to around 17 or 18 degrees across the south
01:33in the mid-teens further north and west.
01:36It's still quite a warm one,
01:37but it is going to be a wet start to the day on Tuesday
01:40for parts of Northern Ireland as well as much of Scotland's spells
01:43of rain pushing up from the south and west.
01:45A few showers also pushing in to parts of the southwest England,
01:49parts of West Wales as well.
01:50This is where we see this risk of thunderstorms through the day.
01:53You can see those heavier, brighter colours on the rainfall there.
01:57The east should escape much of the rain through the day.
02:01It's going to be quite a warm and bright day.
02:03Temperatures on Tuesday climbing towards 25 degrees in the south and east,
02:07so feeling a little bit warmer.
02:08But I think you will notice a bit more of a breeze,
02:10particularly in the afternoon.
02:13So showery rain continues to move eastwards through Tuesday evening
02:17as these heavy, possibly thundery showers pushing to more north-eastern areas of England,
02:21central areas of England as well.
02:23The east of England seeing those rainfall showers into the evening,
02:27Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning,
02:29before we see another bit of respite thanks to high pressure.
02:33Another area of low pressure, though,
02:34pushes up to the north and west through the latter part of Wednesday
02:37before high pressure becomes more dominant as we head towards the weekend.
02:41So it's going to warm up a little bit as we head towards the weekend once again.
02:44Temperatures not expected to be as high as they were last week.
02:48But Alex will have more details on your full week ahead forecast
02:51in your latest week ahead on YouTube later on today.
02:55Have a good one. Bye-bye.
