00:00So with Rasheed Rice's news, I thought it was interesting where everybody wanted to get just another like troubled wide
00:09receiver off the field.
00:11Because we talked about earlier about how it's OK if you have issues on the field, like I'm OK if
00:15you take your helmet off and get ejected in a game.
00:19I don't think we ever really saw off the field issues with Travis Kelsey, but boy, there was a tally
00:23sheet for a while that we were running out of where it was on the field issues that eventually got
00:27settled.
00:28Missing curfew gets benched for a first half against the Chargers, throws a towel as a flag, mimicking arrest actions,
00:33gets kicked out of the game.
00:34Chief Damner lose the game because of him against Jacksonville. The dice move against Denver.
00:39All that stuff was on the field. It wasn't off the field. Eventually you can fix that or it, you
00:45know, gets moved on, but it's never like a law issue.
00:48And so when you look at the situation that we are seeing with Rasheed Rice, I don't know if Stefan
00:54Diggs would be somebody that I would consider because of what we've seen off the field.
00:58And I mean, A.J. Brown is a guy whose name obviously pops up in the algorithm of Chiefs followers
01:02on Twitter and stuff like that.
01:04Has A.J. Brown ever done anything off the field that anybody knows of?
01:06No, he read the book on the field and people were mad about that. But so what?
01:10I mean, who cares? That didn't really hurt from what he was doing on the field.
01:14His quarterback and play caller, as they showed you after that season, were the reasons why A.J. Brown didn't
01:19get my new offensive coordinator in Philadelphia.
01:21So now A.J. Brown is not a problem. He's just he's got an ego, which every athlete should have
01:25an ego when you're playing, especially without position.
01:27Yes. And again, at that position, too, that's the most one V one position in football, in my opinion.
01:32Yeah, it is. Yeah. And and corners are paid to stop you and you're paid to beat them.
01:36That's right. And I think that's why corners, the toughest position to play.
01:39So when the corner gets it, he gets it's to me. It's a very pitcher batter relationship.
01:44Like if the pitcher strikes you out and, you know, gets jacked up, remember that.
01:49So then when you beat the corner, you get jacked up and you beat him.
01:52So I think that's always going to be the territory of that position, because I don't think you can play
01:56that position and not have ego.
01:57Right. Whether Larry Fitzgerald didn't show it, I believe his ego in those situations, like I'm about to cook this
02:03guy.
02:03DeAndre Hopkins had that ego. It was just well tempered. Some people's aren't.
02:08But again, I don't think that can happen. And I don't know if you can be great.
02:14Your guy, double J. Jefferson Jefferson. Massive ego.
02:17Yeah, you got. Oh, yeah, you got to be. But it's but it's controlled.
02:20Jamar Chase. Massive ego. It's about 75 percent control.
02:25Can I ask you what Jamar Chase is? There's anything he's done off the field?
02:27No. No. OK, no.
02:29Just Justin Jefferson's done nothing off the field.
02:31C.D. Lamb. I don't believe so.
02:35I don't think he's done anything off the field.
02:37No, I don't think anything off the field other than the trophy.
02:39He's been accused of two things off the field, one of which is was complete bogus with his personal chef
02:44read into that court case.
02:45Complete bogus. Nothing of that happened.
02:47Completely innocent. Right. That was thrown away.
02:49He is dealing with a civil lawsuit that could also be complete bogus.
02:52Someone accusing him of trying to steal his Ferrari, him and his brother.
02:56Right. We'll see if that's bogus.
02:57We'll see if that's bogus.
02:57Part of me kind of feels like, yeah, we'll see.
02:59People are trying to get athletes.
03:02They're trying to get athletes.
03:03And they think of the court of public opinion, people automatically blame the athlete.
03:06Oh, people don't like digs? Let's go after him.
03:08So I'm holding my breath on that latest.
03:10So off the field, he's had rumblings, but nothing's ever really come to terms.
03:15Nothing's really ever happened.
03:15Now, he's had rumblings in his organization.
03:18I mean, he has been moved on from the Vikings, the Bills, the Texans.
03:22I mean, the Vikings he was with forever, and it was time to move on.
03:24The Bills he was with for four or five years, and they reached a point it was time to move
03:27on.
03:27I mean, I don't know.
03:27And he got hurt with Houston.
03:29So, yeah, I mean, yeah, sometimes it's time to move on.
03:32After five or six seasons, not winning that picture of him at the AFC Championship game with his hands on
03:36his hips going, what the hell?
03:38Was it a sort of more contract, though?
03:39They didn't want to give him that next year.
03:41I think it was.
03:42They didn't want to pay him.
03:43So, he's kind of, I don't know, like, I love this stat from Pat Thorman, who's an NFL guy.
03:48People will say in the NFL, and maybe they're just making this up.
03:50I don't know.
03:51They go, Source seems like he's worn out as welcome.
03:52I've heard that a lot about Stephon Diggs.
03:54So, if that's the case, but for one year or two years, it's hard to wear out your welcome that
03:59fast.
04:00It's similar to A.J. Brown to me.
04:01I mean, he wants to win, and he wants to be a part of winning.
04:03I mean, it's similar to A.J. Brown.
04:05I mean, if Stephon Diggs was on an Eagles-like offense, we would see a lot of the same thing.
04:09And what's wrong with wanting to win?
04:10Isn't that what we want out of our players, you know?
04:12Exactly.
04:13This comes from Pat Thorman.
04:14Last year, Diggs finished ninth in catches and 15th in receiving yards.
04:17He only played 55% of the snaps.
04:19Right.
04:19But when he was in, he was in.
04:21He was in, and he was good.
04:22And so, that's a year off of an ACL tear.
04:23That's why I'm interested to see what Drake May does this year.
04:26Give him some receivers.
04:28Yep.
04:28A.J. Brown and Romeo Dobbs already.
04:30Well, we don't know that A.J. Brown is going to go there.
04:32I mean, look, man.
04:34And if Clark Hunt decides and gives the checkbook to Brett Veach and says, go get A.J. Brown,
04:39then they're going to go get A.J. Brown, and he'll be here.
04:41And it all depends on what, you know, ownership allows you to do.
04:44Do you want A.J. Brown if he doesn't want to be here?
04:45I don't know that he doesn't want to be here.
04:47I think there's 31 teams he doesn't want to be on.
04:48Are you being serious about that?
04:49There's one team that he wants to play for.
04:51I think he's with Big Mike.
04:51Yeah.
04:52There's one team he wants to play for.
04:53Okay.
04:53Great.
04:54But you know what?
04:54You're going to play for Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes instead.
04:56And you're going to be the number one guy.
04:58Yeah.
04:59I think he's going to be down about that.
05:00If he's down about that, then I don't want him here.
05:03Yeah.
05:03I don't want somebody here who doesn't want to be.
05:05If you want to go play in New England and hope your coach lasts the season, you know,
05:08then fine.
05:09Go ahead and do that.
05:10But I don't, I think they, they just linked them together and nobody else has said anything.
05:14It's like in high school, oh, so-and-so are dating.
05:17So nobody moves in on them and they're not in a great relationship and they'd be willing
05:20to date anybody.
05:20If somebody just asked, like, I think A.J.
05:23Brown is that guy who just wanted out, knew this guy was his coach.
05:26We obviously connected the dots with Russini to New England and maybe he doesn't realize
05:31there are other suitors out there.
05:33And now with Rasheed Rice being behind bars, maybe the Chiefs decide, you know what?
05:37We need to fix this thing today and for the future.
05:40We are going to trade for A.J.
05:41Brown and give him the money that he wants.
05:43He'll be happy.
05:43I think the one thing that hurts the Chiefs cause is being so damn good.
05:47Yeah.
05:47And the other thing that hurts that is A.J.
05:49Brown has one of those things that Chiefs have.
05:51Yep.
05:51Like he's got that ring.
05:52And I think he wants to go back with Vrabel because Vrabel used him in Tennessee.
05:58Like, that was the guy.
05:59Oh, yeah.
06:00Yeah.
06:00But don't you think Andy Reid would use you?
06:01No, I do.
06:03But I think he wants Vrabel to get that ring and he wants to go back to that system that
06:08he knows and he's comfortable with and he doesn't have to have all that.
06:11Whereas, like, we know that Andy Reid's playbook is difficult.
06:15It might be.
06:16And A.J.
06:16Brown could probably figure it out in a simple training camp in St.
06:19Joe, but he ain't got to figure nothing out in Vrabel's playbook and they can get that
06:24together.
06:24And that's something that has lost time between the two of them.
06:27Great point that you bring up there about the playbook and learning the stuff in training
06:30camp.
06:30So, obviously, you know, my dad is back on the giant bandwagon in a big way.
06:34Oh, yeah.
06:34He likes Dart.
06:35Loves Dart.
06:36Loves the whole thing.
06:37And Scadabo.
06:38Scadabo.
06:39Scadabo.
06:39Scadabo.
06:40That's how he pronounces his name, I'm sure, too.
06:44But he sent me a video yesterday of Phil Simms and Jackson Dart talking about, you know,
06:48the seam pass or whatever it was, right?
06:50It's an 11-minute video of Phil Simms talking to Jackson Dart.
06:52Compelling.
06:53Very entertaining, right?
06:55And they start talking about plays.
06:57And Phil Simms says, man, we had about three plays that we just ran different variations
07:02of, three plays that we felt great with.
07:04And he looks at Jackson Dart and he goes, you probably have more than that, don't you?
07:07And Dart's like, we got about five or six plays that we feel really comfortable with that
07:10we can write variations of.
07:11So, you got five or six plays that an NFL quarterback is telling me now that basically
07:16you're running every single time and just variations off of those plays.
07:20Why is the playbook so hard to learn again?
07:23Yep.
07:24You know?
07:24I think the guy you go get is Dwan Jennings.
07:29I would like, well, he's gone.
07:31Oh, yeah, he's in Minnesota, right?
07:31He's in Minnesota.
07:32Yeah, Dwan Jennings.
07:33What about Debo Samuel?
07:34Any trouble off the field?
07:35No trouble off the field as far as I know.
07:37He's a guy that doesn't have a ring?
07:39Doesn't have a ring?
07:39Nope.
07:40He's a guy that can figure out a playbook?
07:41Veteran?
07:42Yeah, I played with Kyle Shanahan.
07:43I figured he'd be able to figure out another.
07:45Played a lot like Rushy Rice?
07:46Yeah, absolutely.
07:47Yak guy.
07:48Give him the ball quickly.
07:50A little older, but I mean, he's only 30.
07:51I mean, he's younger than Stefan Diggs and A.J. Brown.
07:54Is he younger than Juju?
07:55Are you guys looking?
07:56Was that the guy?
07:57Or is he older than Juju?
07:58But it's like weird because we think that Juju's so old, but really he's like still younger
08:02than D.
08:02Juju's like 25 years old or something.
08:04It's weird.
08:04He's like an ageless one there.
08:05Yeah.
08:06But are you guys looking for a wide receiver right now to fix today?
08:09Or are you looking for a wide receiver to fix tomorrow?
08:13Because the way that I'm looking at it is I'm trying to make a trade because I want to solve
08:17this position moving forward.
08:19We're going to be here next year, guys, because these guys are out of contract, right?
08:24And in my opinion, you can't give Rushy Rice a contract and trust him that he's going
08:29to be able to go out there and perform every single day.
08:32He has given you his body of work, right?
08:35He has shown you that he is not somebody that you can rely on.
08:38Take that evidence and use it.
08:40He's not somebody you can rely on.
08:42So the way that I'm looking at this now, yeah, you're in a situation now that's kind
08:47of desperate because you got a guy in jail, but you're also going to need wide receivers
08:51moving forward.
08:52That's why I'm in the make the big trade at this point in time, because it solves a position
08:57and helps you this year, but also solidifies it moving forward.
09:01I would love to do that.
09:03I just I don't other than AJ Brown, I don't think that guy's out there.
09:06I don't think they're going to go all in.
09:08I don't even know if they could go all in.
09:11I don't I don't want to do pickings.
09:12No, I'm good on that.
09:14I'm good on that.
09:15Did you consider Brett for Miller?
09:17Did a book Chamberlain for Danny Manning, have they reached out to Wiggins?
09:21You think I'm a goddamn fool?
09:23I also just wanted to double check that Dan Kilgore is going to practice today.
09:26I'm sick and tired of all this bullshit.
09:28Coach, we appreciate the time.
09:29Thanks for joining us.
09:30Mack, I'm so sorry to cut you off.
09:32No, you're fine.
09:32From the 816, it's not Vrabel's playbook, it's the OC's playbook.
09:35Vrabel's a defensive guy.
09:37Ah, yeah.
09:39That was worth cutting everybody off for.
09:41Get back.
09:42I mean, what the hell was that?
09:46I don't know if that's sarcasm.
09:48I hope it is.
09:49I hope it is, too.
09:51Yes, it's Josh McDaniel's playbook.
09:52You're right.
09:53Vrabel's the head coach.
09:55He wants to go play with Mike Vrabel because he liked his time in Tennessee with Mike Vrabel.
09:59Going home again.
10:00I mean, you know, it doesn't always work out that way.
10:03It doesn't always work out for the best.
10:05But, I mean, how could you not want to come here if you're A.J. Brown?
10:08I think the Chiefs move.
10:12Kansas?
10:12I think it's got to be for somebody like a Justin Jefferson or, like, maybe you kick the tires with
10:22Marvin Harrison Jr.
10:23Yep.
10:24I get it.
10:25That's a fun one.
10:26Arizona's going to go and draft a quarterback next year, and they're going to want something to be there.
10:32But, I mean, I think that's the move you have to make because of the situation that the front office
10:38in Kansas City has put themselves into.
10:40You draft a guy with Rasheed Rice with a history.
10:42Thought he'd work out.
10:43It didn't.
10:44Xavier Worthy.
10:45Speed.
10:46We're going to give it a year, right?
10:47We're all in agreement.
10:48We're going to give Xavier Worthy this year.
10:50Okay?
10:51Tyquan Thornton, a good guy.
10:52But if you're going to make the move where you don't have to draft a guy and hope or figure
10:58out if a guy is going to be a clear-headed individual on the field, you're going to have to
11:02make that sacrifice because of where you're currently at.
11:06And if that sacrifice has to be, you've got to give him a first, a second, and a fourth.
11:09I know that's not the real, but that's what I'm trying to get at.
11:13I think that's where you've got to go.
11:14And that's the big conundrum right now.
11:17It ultimately comes down.
11:18You need to find somebody that's going to do that with you.
11:19Yeah, with you, too.
11:20But ultimately, it does.
11:21It comes down to ownership, giving Brett Veach and the organization the go-ahead to do something like this.
11:26And, you know, I think they probably will.
11:28Like, I don't know, guys.
11:29Maybe I'm just naive.
11:30But the more we're talking about this, the more I'm thinking in the back of my mind, we're going to
11:34see some surprise trade that's going to blow the football world up here soon.
11:38On June 1?
11:40Yeah.
11:40Yeah.
11:4110 days.
11:41Yeah.
11:41I would love that.
11:42That would be sick.
11:43Like, I think a post-June 1st type of trade.
11:46Like, I really do.
11:47I think we're going to see something big.
11:49I don't know why I have that feeling.
11:52And, again, this is not based on anybody I've talked to or anything like that.
11:55I just have this feeling that the Chiefs did that 6-11 thing last year.
11:59This thing happened now.
12:00Now the window's open to truly kick that door down.
12:03Go get a wide receiver.
12:04That's a big-name guy that you can have for this year and have him signed up for the next
12:09couple of years.
12:09I just feel really optimistic maybe about this because this is what the Chiefs do, right?
12:15We've talked about this.
12:16When a problem arises, they solve it, right?
12:19And so there's a problem that's arisen right now.
12:22Even though they are, and I will say this, counting on Rasheed Rice to be fine once the season starts.
12:26And, like, he's going to be fine.
12:28They knew he was going to have the knee surgery, all this kind of stuff.
12:31They believe he's going to be fine.
12:33But do you trust him, and can you move forward with this guy?
12:37And that's why I think you need to act now.
12:38The door's been open for you to go make a move that you weren't anticipating to make,
12:42but now you have to make, and you could take advantage of it in a big way.
12:45Because if you think about it, you could use next year's draft as capital.
12:49Yeah, I do not want to do that.
12:51I know you don't.
12:51Yeah, I'm not doing that.
12:52I know you don't, but that's what you'd have to do if you wanted to acquire someone of that sort
12:56of situation.
12:57Like, Arizona goes, ah, didn't work for us with Marvin Harris Jr.,
13:00but Jeremiah Smith, this guy, this guy, they're all in the draft next year.
13:04We can take our quarterback in the early picks.
13:06We'll take our receiver in the back end of the pick where we get the Chiefs pick,
13:09and then they can go have Marvin Harrison.
13:10But then you're like, maybe you would have found that.
13:13That's just the only way it works is to use the draft capital next year
13:16that we think is so open and booming.
13:21That's just where you're stuck.
13:22But also, too, guys, let's have this conversation for real.
13:25Next year we'll be saying the same thing about the 28 draft, right?
13:28Oh, it's going to be a great draft because we do this every year.
13:30We hype up the next year's draft.
13:32Then we get to that draft.
13:33We're like, oh, okay.
13:34Yeah, I don't know.
13:35I thought that, too.
13:36The more I'm done reading, and this is going to be a historic draft, Bob.
13:3927 will absolutely.
13:40It's not just about the quarterbacks.
13:41Every position is deep, and I don't want to give up any sort of capital,
13:45especially for being in a situation that you've mentioned has arisen.
13:47We already knew this situation was here.
13:49Nothing's changed for this season.
13:50They already knew this was their biggest priority.
13:52They already knew that they had kind of screwed up the future when it comes to this position.
13:56They made their bed.
13:57They need to lie in it this season and eat it.
13:58This is what they're doing.
13:59Stephon Diggs is the least version of that.
14:01You can get him for cheap on a one- or two-year deal and then worry about the draft
14:04in the future.
14:04But, yeah, I think that's where you build.
14:06I don't think you trade your 2027 picks.
14:09And also, I know this is not the fun conversation.
14:12They've got to restructure their whole cap to sign the rookie class.
14:14And I know you hate this conversation, Bob, but you've mentioned cash on hand for Clark not having any of
14:18it.
14:18Now you're bringing in A.J. Brown?
14:20That's what I'm saying.
14:21It doesn't seem like that's realistic.
14:22It's up to ownership if they want to, right?
14:24That's where it ultimately is.
14:26Both teams, every team.
14:27It's up to whatever the owner allows you to do.
14:29And if Clark picks up the phone and says, hey, Brett, here's a blank check.
14:33Go get A.J. Brown.
14:34Then you go get A.J. Brown.
14:35You know?
14:36But if he says, no, we can't this year, then you can't.
14:38I was too busy flying two days ago.
14:41I didn't see this.
14:44How about the Royals organization real quick?
14:46Did you see this video of the Royals surprise Chad Epperson with his son who works for the Royals during
14:52the lineup exchange?
14:53Oh, yeah.
14:54That was cool.
14:54Yeah, yeah.
14:55That's awesome.
14:56I missed this.
14:56He said you could tell it got to him a lot.
14:57I'll retweet it.
14:58But I did not know that this happened.
15:00I was obviously traveling.
