00:00Was testing positive for THC.
00:02That was a condition of his probation going back to the felony charges with the car crash in Dallas, as
00:10we all know, from back in 2024.
00:13Let's start there again, and then we'll get to some Royals because there was some new information from when we
00:17at least got off the air, which was the fact that Adam Schefter sent out a tweet.
00:21I don't know.
00:21What was that?
00:22Five o'clock, six o'clock last night, something like that.
00:24Yeah, sometime in the evening.
00:24And that was that Rasheed Rice had undergone a procedure to clean up his knee prior to this all happening.
00:32It was a cleanup procedure on his right knee to remove, quote, loose debris that was causing some inflammation.
00:38And that was going to sideline him for a couple months as he recovered from that.
00:43So that came out after we got the news about 30 days in jail.
00:47Now, look, OTAs was coming up, so we would have heard from the Chiefs that he wasn't practicing at some
00:52point and why eventually.
00:53But that came out after the 30 days, which I'll be honest, it makes him look even dumber.
00:58It really does, because now you're telling me on top of just violating your probation, okay, and the consequences of
01:06that, which is serving 30 days in jail and going into a contract year and everything else that we all
01:10know and we all, I think, can acknowledge, is the fact that you had surgery.
01:15Knowing that you're going to have to recover from having surgery, even if it's a minor procedure to remove some
01:21debris in your knee, now you're going to be behind bars trying to recover from the knee injury to rehab
01:27to get ready for the start of the NFL season.
01:28And I don't know about you, they don't have a Dr. Rick Burkholter in the jail for you, okay?
01:33No, you don't think maybe a celly would help him run through his exercises?
01:38No, he doesn't get, I don't think he gets access to the little, like, bands or whatever to do, I
01:43don't think they get that.
01:43Is there no visitation or anything like that?
01:45I'll say when I, the last time I had knee surgery, they send you home with, like, a manila folder
01:49full of, like, just some, like, bad computer printouts of the exercises you should be doing in between, like, the
01:56assigned physical therapy.
01:58You would go to, like, once a week?
02:00No, Gold, it makes him look ten times dumber.
02:03I thought yesterday when we got off the show, this is the maximum stupid Rasheed Rice would look today.
02:08Genuinely.
02:09He already tested positive, he knew he was on probation, he now has to go to jail for 30 days.
02:14I thought, you know what, that's probably enough stupidity for the day for him.
02:19Only to find out that he did it while recovering.
02:22And it's like, come on, man, now you know you were coming back from surgery.
02:26You were already going to miss OTAs anyway, and then on top of it, you thought you were going to,
02:31what, either not get tested, or whatever thing you tried to do to circumvent testing positive didn't work, and you
02:38get busted instead, it makes you look way worse.
02:41Way worse.
02:42Although, I will say, and I, you know, like, we've been gearing this way for the last two years in
02:47this show anyway.
02:48I genuinely think the way that Adam Schefter phrased that was the most agent type of sentence structure he could
03:00have possibly done to try to make Rasheed Rice look at it.
03:03Because, like, well, it's not an additional 30 days.
03:06You know, those are the 30 days he was going to spend in jail anyway.
03:08I didn't even reference the fact that he didn't have to go to jail at all if he just didn't
03:13test positive for it.
03:16And also, mentioning the surgery at this time, I got to say, feels awfully convenient.
03:19Like, oh, sorry, man, my knee hurt a little bit.
03:22I smoked a little weed, and then I got busted.
03:24See, like, it feels like you're trying to, like, spin it in some capacity.
03:26Yeah, I mean, people on the text line, a few people have texted, and doesn't this explain it more?
03:29Maybe he was using it to help with his pain.
03:31Take your time a little!
03:32Can I be honest?
03:33Like, I don't care if that's what it was.
03:35That still means you're a complete moron, right?
03:38Like, if you actually were having pain from the surgery, there are prescribed medications that they can give you.
03:45It doesn't excuse anything.
03:47And that's what Cody was saying, is, like, is Adam Schefter trying to make it seem like, okay, this is
03:52why my client, if you're the agent, my client was doing it.
03:56No, no, no, no, no.
03:57You, you're well aware of your terms of your probation, having knee surgery, and then, what, accidentally smoking weed?
04:06You don't accidentally smoke weed.
04:07Stop.
04:07Tripped over a loose floorboard.
04:08We're doing way too, we're doing way too much work to try to, no.
04:12Let's just be honest with the situation.
04:14He, he made another dumb decision, and it landed him in jail.
04:18And, yeah, he's now going to have to recover behind bars from, from a knee procedure as well.
04:24I'm not, I'm not buying that, or it doesn't change the scenario that he was maybe doing it because he
04:30was in pain.
04:31Give me a break.
04:31But I, but that's obviously the spin they were going for yesterday.
04:35Like, hey, you know what?
04:36He's not just making common mistakes.
04:38It was, he was recovering from surgery, and it doubles gold because it doubles as the, he wasn't going to
04:44be available for OTAs anyway.
04:47It's not like he's missing time with the Chiefs.
04:49He was unavailable during that time.
04:51You're like, no, but he was available to at least sit in on a meeting, meet with a coach, have
04:57a conversation, see Patrick Mahomes, do whatever, right?
05:00There were options available to him.
05:01He took them all away the second he made a mistake and then had to get sent to jail.
05:05And look, I, I still think there's a chance he won't serve the full 30 days.
05:09It wouldn't be uncommon for someone to get early release on a 30 day sentence, but also, I don't know
05:15what the protocol is.
05:16The judge wanted to make a, you know, wanted to make an example of him on that day.
05:20He broke probation.
05:21He immediately sent him.
05:22So, you know, you know, what's the one that in, in, I hear you, you can, we can, people can,
05:27I've, I've heard that a lot.
05:29No, I'm going to say like, I've heard that a lot of people like, well, they're making an example out
05:31of him.
05:32But look, we also acknowledge though, going back to the car accident that, that he caused, if it was you
05:37or I, you would have already been in jail.
05:39So yeah, I, I don't, I don't think this is making an example out of him.
05:43If it was you or I that had the, what was it?
05:44Eight felony charges related to that car crash in Dallas, you would not, you would not have been out of,
05:50you would, you would have been behind bars already.
05:51So I, I don't buy the, oh, poor him.
05:54He, he, he's being made an example of, no, I don't know.
05:57It's not that I don't feel bad for him.
05:59He's being made.
05:59Like if anything, because of how easy it was for you the first time, you should be made an example
06:05of, you know, like you got off relatively light for the amount of carnage you could have caused.
06:12And the amount of damage you did cause certainly easier than any other regular citizen, just walking around on two
06:17feet.
06:17So if they want to send you straight to jail for a little weed, well, I don't feel bad.
06:21Did your, you set this up.
06:23You got off easy the first time.
06:24Now that we've had some time since the news yesterday broke.
06:27Did your stance change at all on whether or not, if you were Brett Veach or Andy Reed, would you
06:33just say, all right, it's enough is enough.
06:35It's going to have football consequences, but we're done.
06:37I, I don't think that's what they're going to do, by the way.
06:41I don't think, I think they would have done that a long time ago.
06:44I don't think, and ultimately it would have to be Andy Reed's decision.
06:47I guess ownership could come in and say, we're, we're freaking done with this.
06:50I don't care, but it would probably take Andy Reed and Brett Veach saying, all right, we've, we've had enough.
06:57And I don't, I don't think on in may, they would do that.
07:00My guess is no, Andy loves a second chance.
07:03I would guess that there'd not be that if I were them, I'd probably walk.
07:07The problem is, is that if I were them, I would have also set myself up slightly better in case
07:12I had to.
07:13And like, that goes back to the draft and stuff we can maybe talk about down the road or tomorrow
07:16even, but it's like all of that.
07:19I would have positioned myself differently so that maybe I had an option in there.
07:23They are in a tough spot.
07:24They're in a difficult position as it relates to that because getting rid of him, what the hell is your
07:30offense then?
07:31What are you going to hit?
07:32Are you going to become 50, 50 in the run game and all of a sudden do nothing but give
07:36it to Ken Walker?
07:37Well, that seems unlikely.
07:39You're just going to give it to Emmitt Johnson and Ken Walker.
07:40Emmitt Johnson, by the way, scheduled to join the show today at 1.15.
07:45But yeah, it's, they're in a tough spot.
07:48I look like, am I finished with it?
07:50Yeah.
07:50You know what makes it easier?
07:52Gold to just be like, whatever, they can just stick this thing out.
07:54It's a year.
07:55I don't have to, I mean, I, we've already made it clear.
07:57I wouldn't give him an extension.
07:58I wouldn't franchise tag him.
08:00This is the last calendar year he's employed by this team.
08:04If, if I were in charge, get your comp pick next year after he walks.
08:07Look, if he had three years left in the deal, it'd actually be a harder decision for me.
08:11I'd be more inclined to get rid of him.
08:12You're like, but why?
08:13He has more time on his deal.
08:14Yeah.
08:14Cause I don't want to sit around and deal with this for the next three years.
08:17If you're the chiefs, all you got to do with it is the next 10 months, like 10 months.
08:21And then you can just wash your hands of it and be done.
08:24So like from their perspective, I imagine they wake up this morning and say, eh, we can, we can finish
08:28out 10 more months of this.
08:29We stuck with them through the car wreck.
08:31We stuck with them through some of the other allegations that took place.
08:35Like if we've made it this long, we'll make it through a probation violation for weed.
08:40We only got to do 10 more months of this and then we're free of it.
08:43So I imagine they woke up and we're like, well, I don't figure out a way.
08:46Yeah.
08:46The only way I see him getting cut before the season would have been, and I guess it still could
08:50happen, but would it be if Clark Hunt made the phone call and said, all right, enough.
08:54I'm sick of this guy embarrassing me, but think about what my, my franchise and, you know, and, and embarrassing
08:59the city, frankly, on top of it.
09:01But I don't, I don't think that's where we're at with the situation.
09:05And I don't think Clark necessarily medals in that.
09:09You know, the Kareem Hunt thing people will bring up.
09:11That was so different.
09:12There was video, there was video evidence lied to the team and all that.
09:15So that, that's why that whole circumstance to me was different.
09:18This would take Andy Reed and Brett Veach being like, all right, we, it's time.
09:22And I don't think they're there.
09:24It is rare, not just for the chiefs, for any team, any team in the, in football to cut a
09:34player for problematic stuff.
09:36Right?
09:37Like, I mean, it's any team.
09:39So like, that's the part that I don't want to like, try to pretend that's not on the other side.
09:43It's like, it's, it's rare.
09:45So let's not pretend like it's not players get in trouble all the time.
09:48They are not just cut from teams because they got in trouble.
09:50And in fairness, I would say the two previous things, both the allegations that obviously did not bear any fruit
09:56when it was done legally, let's say, and the actual accident that did, it stuck with them through that.
10:02They're going to, they're going to bounce them because of a 30 days.
10:05No, but probably not.
10:06Oh, it builds up.
10:06I get it.
10:07Yeah, but this, yeah, it builds up.
10:08And then the, the, I guess the, the sad reality of it is that does anybody actually think that the
10:13remaining terms of however many years it is of his probation, that he's not going to have another violation.
10:19I mean, like, I, I, I, I would love to sit here and tell you, I think, you know, he's
10:24somebody that has learned his lesson or whatever.
10:25I, I, I think this proves that he hasn't.
10:27So he made it, he made it 10 months the last time before the probation violation.
10:31So that's all you got to get, but this is before, like you would have thought if there was ever
10:34a time, if there was ever a time for him to be on the straight and narrow, right.
10:40And follow the, follow the contract, follow the laws in terms of your probation.
10:45And it would be entering the final year of your rookie deal when a massive payday is on the way.
10:50And he couldn't even do that.
10:51So why would I think that a year from now, after maybe he gets a nice little two or three
10:55year deal from somebody, if he even gets that.
10:58Okay.
10:58If he's even able to get that anymore, why would I think that that's when the wake up call is
11:02going to happen?
11:02He's 26 years old and he's about to have an opportunity to get a massive payday and he still can't
11:07get it right.
11:07And I, again, yes, you're right.
11:08It's double.
11:09It's like probation and a massive payday and he couldn't even stay in line for that portion of time.
11:15And that's always the issue.
11:16And this was why when you and I came in today, it was like, man, I can't believe somehow he
11:20looked dumber because of like the knees stuff and all this stuff.
11:24And look, I'll say if at any point this year, his knee flares up and he has to miss a
11:30game.
11:31I'm like, yeah, dummy, you couldn't do proper rehab for the first 30 days post your surgery because you're sitting
11:39in a jail cell.
11:40So no, no, no surprise.
11:41And he doesn't feel as good.
11:43And look, he's still got plenty of time to rehab and all that stuff.
11:45But so much as a flare up gold and I'm going to blame jail, whether it's true or not, I'm
11:49going to assume it's that, you know, because there's going to be no way to disprove it.
11:53I guess is the point, not like I'm just choosing to, it's like, he won't be able to prove that
11:57it's not because he didn't spend the 30 days and I can't technically prove it's because he couldn't rehab it.
12:01But if he has a flare up from this knee problem that exists in the regular season, I'm going to
12:06assume he couldn't do the 30 days of regular rehab with Rick at the facility that he would get post
12:11-surgery like a professional athlete typically would.
12:14Or if he has to miss a couple of training camp days, we're going to bring it up.
12:17Or if he has, you know, like now that's going to linger over the course of it.
12:20And by the way, in this, I don't know when he had the surgery or if they knew he was
12:24going to have the surgery and all this other stuff that goes back to the, did you not want more
12:28protection inside the wide receiver unit or who are you signing and when, you know, like how long till Tyreek
12:33is a chief?
12:34Did you catch a LaShawn McCoy and his podcast yesterday?
12:37So I'm at the Rishi Rice scenario, former chief LaShawn McCoy, by the way, I never personally smoked weed before.
12:43A lot of my homeboys did.
12:44They must love it, man.
12:46If you go smoke weed to go for 30 days in jail, you must really love it.
12:50Him and Josh Gordon should throw a party home.
12:52They should be puffed and parties should be called puff, puff, pants.
12:56If you can smoke weed and go to jail for 30 days, you must really love it, home.
13:01You know what I mean?
13:01You must really love it.
13:02No blunt is worth 30 days in jail to me, bro.
13:05That's crazy.
13:06And I don't know what type of brand.
13:07I know it's a lot of different brands.
13:08It's a Cali, but wherever it's from, 30 days worth?
13:11In 30 days, he's going to be back to play with the Chiefs, right?
13:14He already know the offense.
13:15He know Andy Reid.
13:16Andy Reid knows brothers like to smoke that green.
13:18He knows that.
13:19And he understands that.
13:21But who don't understand that is Rasheed Rice.
13:24You cannot smoke the green because you are in trouble, son.
13:28So when I look at this young brother, I'm like, damn.
13:30Put myself in his shoes.
13:32Phone ring.
13:33Ring, ring.
13:35Yo, what up?
13:36What you doing?
13:40I'm just relaxing.
13:43You know what I'm saying?
13:43Yo, you can't smoke.
13:45I know.
13:46If you get caught in 30 days, f**k it.
13:51So that was LaShawn McCoy talking about she rides.
13:55I think a lot of times it's not even that conscious.
13:58Like, if you've been around anybody who's gotten in trouble consistently, it's fun consistently.
14:02It's not usually that conscious.
14:04It's just the absolute blindness to ever thinking you'll get in trouble.
14:10And you're like, but you just got in trouble.
14:13What makes you think you're getting away this time?
14:15You know?
14:16Like, why?
14:18Like, none of this would even be the case.
14:20Nobody even care if he had a little knee procedure and smoked some weed.
14:22If he hadn't driven 120 miles an hour and left a crime scene.
14:26Again, it's not about the weed.
14:27It's not.
14:29It's the fact that under his terms of probation, he couldn't smoke weed.
14:33Nobody.
14:33There's other guys on the team that smoke weed.
14:35That's not a problem.
14:36That's not a problem.
14:37There are plenty of other guys on Kansas City Chiefs that smoke weed.
14:39That is not the issue.
14:40I've never felt that level of invincible.
14:42I'll say that.
14:43I've never just been like, ah, you know, I'm already in trouble.
14:46Time to risk it.
14:47See if I can get more.
