00:00Let's head to the phone lines right now to be joined by somebody who is an inspiration to me.
00:04He is an inspiration to continue to push upward and allward. Aaron Ladd of KOMU Channel 8 in
00:11Columbia, Missouri joins us on the show today. Aaron, how are you doing today?
00:17Just another appearance in the drive where I'm asking for my open. I don't know where it is
00:22or where it went or we could possibly find it or recreate it, but it just feels incomplete without
00:28it. You know what, Aaron, for the football season, I'll talk to management and I'll get
00:32you an open. We're not going to have it in the spring. We're not going to have it in the
00:36summer, but you know what? There's going to be a time where Missouri is playing a game
00:41and I'm going to be real hopeful and optimistic that they're going to win. They're not going
00:45to, but I'm going to, I'm going to act all week. Like they are going to win. We'll have
00:49you on. We'll have an open for you. That's my word. I'm holding it to that. You know,
00:53you're a man of your word. I try to be Aaron. Have you seen the Michael Jackson movie?
00:58I have seen the Michael Jackson movie. Yes. I went to a matinee showing here in Columbia.
01:03You know, I'm an MJ fan. I got a lot of the albums on vinyl. My parents spun them in
01:06the
01:06house. What's your favorite Michael Jackson song?
01:10Ooh, I'm an off the wall guy. I think off the wall does not get enough respect. I know
01:14Thriller is the blockbuster. Everybody's got Thriller itself, like a household appliance.
01:19But rock with you. I mean, that's timeless music right there. Love burn this disco out
01:25too. The outro on that album. Really underrated. I go anything off the wall.
01:29I've been listening to a lot of human nature since seeing the movie.
01:33They didn't really dig into, I mean, and that was the problem with the film. I know you have
01:37your thoughts on this, but there was a lot of ground to cover and not enough time. And it feels
01:42like we kind of went ankle deep on a lot of the topics that you could have gone like maybe
01:47waist
01:47deep on. I mean, this is one of those popular music artists of all time and one of the best
01:53discographies of all time. I feel like it was a little incomplete and yeah, there was family
01:58drama around it. And now they're trying to hawk off a sequel. So look, I get it, but you know,
02:02I was, it was, it was just okay. What do you want the second one to be called? They can't
02:07call it
02:07Michael too. That's just a stupid name for a movie. What do you want the sequel to be called?
02:12It's definitely going to be Michael too, but I think it's got to be man in the mirror. That just
02:16seems
02:17like a good name for it. Maybe the Michael Jackson experience. Isn't that what he was kind of going
02:22with some of the later, the later tours and that kind of stuff. Right now we're talking to our guy,
02:28Aaron Ladd here on the show, Aaron, there's a lot of things that I want to get your opinion on.
02:33Let's start with this. What was your first reaction when you saw the Rasheed Rice news?
02:39Uh, thankful, thankful one, because I, I have a chief podcast and the rundown was looking a little
02:45light locked on chief squad show. We're live on YouTube seven o'clock Tuesday and Thursday. I was
02:50looking at the rundown and I was like, Oh man, maybe we can dig into Airbnb being in the accelerator
02:55program or dissect the draft class once again. And there it is. The content creator, if nothing else
03:02for out of nowhere, uh, presents another topic du jour. Look, I mean, some people, you just can't
03:08say, you just can't save them. You can teach it. You can walk a horse to water, but you can't
03:12teach it to drink. It's clear to me. And I mentioned this on the show yesterday, just not
03:18a great teammate move. We're talking about everybody being on the same page and pulling
03:23the rope in the same direction. And you've already had your one mess up to, even if we
03:30want to consider some of the earlier headlines we saw this off season, you're already on thin
03:34ice. You can't step on a rake again and feelings on weed aside. We know you're the biggest weed
03:40headed KC dot, but come on, bro. Like you're, you're on a limit, a limit. You're on a minutes
03:46restriction. You're grounded already. You can't keep testing the limits. And for KC, they're
03:51just pot committed to him at this point in time. He's on the rookie deal. They're not committed
03:55to him after this season. We understand that this will probably be it, but it's, it's just
03:59like, how can I continue to trust you when you've shown us time and time again, what you
04:03do when you're outside the facility? I mean, that's my issue with all of it is from the
04:08concept of smoking weed. I just, I don't really care about that part of it. I understand it's
04:12illegal in Texas, but our country stands on marijuana is changing. You did something that
04:18put yourself on probation. You already know he was like, yes, ma'am. No man, when they gave
04:23him all the rules. And then it just continues to show a trend that he just doesn't think that
04:28the rules apply to him. He doesn't think that he needs to follow the rules. That's what
04:32I'm upset about. Not the actual infraction that we're discussing, but this is what happens
04:37when there's no accountability dot, like to take this as step forward, where she rice
04:42was vindicated from the car crash in Dallas. At the end of the day, that's a situation that
04:47could have, and should have maybe been a lot worse from what happened consequence wise
04:52on the actual road to how the NFL handle it, to how the chiefs handle it. He kind of slid
04:57back in with little accountability and them saying, Hey, you know, he's going to get
05:01right. We'll wrap our arms around him. But when we have this leadership conversation
05:05around the chiefs a lot, and it's a word that's been thrown around ad nauseum. When
05:08you talk about homes, Kelsey and Reed and the brain trust, they're like, Oh, we've got
05:12strong leaders. We've got veterans in this room. This is an example of those veterans
05:17met, you know, falling short, not, not coming and not holding one of their start. This
05:22is why receiver one we're talking about. This is not some guy on the back end of the
05:26roster that may not make a spot. You're depending on him. You invest your draft capital in him.
05:31He's already shown a proclivity to make mistakes. Where is that leadership in action to actually
05:36say, nah, actually you're going to sit down for a little bit as the consequences of your
05:39own action. Right now we're talking to Aaron lad on the show, going through a bunch of
05:44different topics. Do you think that he is an Indica man or a sativa man? Oh man. I mean,
05:52it can't be Indica if you're, if you're road racing in Dallas off the weed, I mean, you
05:57got to be smoking something or ingesting some THC that gives you a little bit of energy.
06:01Rasheed Rice to me seems like he smokes weed as he's doing other things. Just a guess,
06:06just a hunch, just speculation. Do you think he's a gummies guy?
06:11You know, there's crazy what they're doing with weed these days. I mean, you can get a THC
06:16mule here in Columbia that I've been a fan of very recently. Who knows? Maybe it was a,
06:20maybe it was a topical. Maybe he's rubbing some cream on the knee. You think that's what you think
06:24he tested positive. Cause he's using THC been gay. You know, he's got some stretch marks that
06:31he's not a fan of, or he just got a new tattoo and he's rubbing some CBD THC mix on
06:35there. We can't
06:36judge. Okay. No, that makes, that makes a lot of sense. This is a question that just randomly popped
06:41in my head that you were the first person I've ever asked this question to let's say that Travis
06:46Kelsey gives you an invitation to their wedding. Are you taking a plus one? Because this would be,
06:52if there is a young shorty that you're trying to get at saying, you got that golden ticket right
06:58there puts you in a different stratosphere, or are you going there by yourself and trying to see how
07:04you can finesse? Yeah. At a wedding like this, I think the odds of finessing are rather low. I think
07:13if you're going in there fishing, there's not many fish to choose from. You never know. You,
07:18you have no clue. I mean, but just you think about some of the most famous and most beautiful women
07:23in
07:23the, in the, in the world are going to be in that room. Everybody ain't there with a man.
07:28And you know how I'm spending this to kind of make me, give me a little bit of a different
07:32perspective on it. You know, I'm taking mom or grandma, you know, I'm taking somebody like,
07:37Oh, you know, if you take your mom to Travis Kelsey and Taylor's wedding, they should immediately
07:43revoke your invitation and tell you, you're not allowed to come. That's nuts. You got taking
07:48moms out to see, I mean, you never know what could be there. And mom's not a big Taylor Swift
07:52fan,
07:52but she could fake it. What is mom going through? What is she networking? No, I'm not taking my mom
07:55to this. I'll take my mom to a lot of things. I'm not taking her to this. No, not at
08:00all.
08:02The problem is you take one that, you know, you're unsure of, or you don't know, and then
08:08you just wasted it. This is a golden ticket we're talking about. And I know with mom,
08:12we're on the heels of mother's day. You know, she earned that, you know, she could put her in
08:16rooms like this. That's a lifetime experience. You don't just hand out a once in a lifetime
08:20experience to somebody that's given you a once in a nighttime experience. Yeah. But I, but my thought
08:25process would be if you had a, for sure invitation to this, you don't just have to invite the girls,
08:31you know, go to the girl that's got the 2 million followers on Instagram. You finally have an end.
08:37You got a chance. Now you're right. You could, you're rolling the dice on what her personality
08:41could be, but no, I'm not taking one of the local shorties for something like this. No,
08:45you got to swing big on this. You got to swing. Absolutely big. Yeah. You got that
08:50Rasheed mindset off the court. Clearly right now we're joined by Aaron Ladd joining us on the show
08:57today. What are people saying in Columbia about this? Ahmad Hardy situation?
09:03There's a lot of the temperament is that it could have been worse. I mean, from all the reports that
09:08we've seen talking with Laurel, Mississippi and all the police officers down there, he was in the
09:12wrong place at the wrong time. And Ahmad Hardy is a new father. He doesn't seem to be someone who's
09:18putting himself continually in bad situations. Word to a topic we had right before this.
09:23He seems to be on the straight and narrow. And the uncertainty now is around the timeline.
09:29I think you talked to some people around Columbia, they say earlier in the season. I think that's
09:35the optimistic side of things. I think the more realistic side of things is having him back and
09:39ready and healthy for SEC play. But the question and drink even talks about this at one of the
09:44Mizzou to you stops is it's not about will Ahmad Hardy return to football. I mean, he will return
09:50to football and playing high level at some point, but will he still have that elite edge? I mean,
09:54we're talking about the reigning SEC rushing yards leader. This is not just a guy. This is
09:59the guy that's the straw that stirred the drink from Mizzou in the running game. So I think the general
10:06consensus is he will be back in 2026, but later rather than sooner, am I wrong for when I've saw
10:14this, my immediate thought process was of course, it's Mizzou. Like I want him to be a hundred percent.
10:21I wanted to be fine. But my original thought was of course, heading into the season, their best player
10:28is dealing with something like this. It's the tigers, man.
10:32You gotta, you gotta shake that mindset. My guy, he just, Aaron, you live in Columbia and cover the
10:38Missouri tigers. Everybody you're around has the same mindset as me. Everybody. I think a lot of
10:44Mizzou fans have that feeling that this other shoe is going to drop. Cause it always tell me when it
10:50doesn't drop. Are you say the feeling of when things are going to always drop it's dropped my entire
10:56life. Tell me the story, which it doesn't drop for Mizzou off the top of my head. It doesn't
11:06exist. Even in Missouri's best years, even in Josie against Johnny Manziel. That was, that was a,
11:14that was a phenomenal season. You're right. But even in Missouri, 2007, best Missouri team of my
11:20lifetime. They beat Kansas. They still get screwed out of the orange bowl. Missouri's best basketball
11:25team. At least in the last 20 years, they win the big 12 tournament. They're a two seed in the
11:30NCAA
11:30tournament. They lose in the first round. Most Missouri stories in with calamity.
11:38Speaking of calamity, I'm curious how the Jason Crowe jr. Experience goes. I mean, the last time
11:42don't even know, don't even start putting negative energy into this from the very, very beginning.
11:47He's going to be the best point guard in the country. He's going to be Darius a cuff and be
11:50a top
11:51five pig. Don't even, I'm not even going to let you put that negative energy on this show today.
11:55I'm just saying the last time was who had a five-star freshman hired his dad on the staff.
12:00We would get five games out of it. Three. Okay. Here you go. I only have two more questions to
12:07ask
12:07you now after this, where does thunder and spurs rank in best basketball games of your lifetime?
12:13It's gotta be very, very high. It's up there. It's up there. And I tuned in late to the two
12:20overtime thing as I was getting things together at KOV8 news here. But every time I tune into the Spurs,
12:27I'm amazed by Wimby. And I hate to see the contrarian take now that the popular side of it
12:35now that's coming out where he's already getting some hate and he hasn't really earned some of the
12:41acclaim that he's getting according to some. But I think a lot of people are getting also tired of
12:47the Thunder experience and 8-0 in the playoffs to this point. This is what we want to see. This
12:51is the finals. This is, who cares who's coming out the East, even though that was a hell of a
12:55game
12:55yesterday too in Madison Square Garden. You want to see the two best go at it. I don't think there's
13:00any arguing right now. I mean, maybe Nikola Jokic is in that conversation. Luka when he's healthy.
13:05But Wimby and Shea are the next Magic and Bird or the next Kobe and LeBron. That's the two-headed
13:11monster that you're going to be seeing on billboards and around the NBA for the next 10 years. And we're
13:17getting a taste of that in the early part of their careers. I mean, Wimby's 22 and putting 40 and
13:2120
13:22in a playoff game. I want seven games of this, please, ASAP.
13:27Aaron, on a scale from 1 to 10, what rating are you giving Iceman?
13:31I was waiting for this question. Why are you waiting for the end for this? I just want to
13:34know what rating you're going to give it because it's going to determine whether I'm going to hang
13:37up on you or not. It's a six. It's a light six for me right now. Look, it's not his
13:43best effort,
13:44but not his worst effort. The subject matter to me is a little old. I mean, we're kind of past
13:50the
13:50beef at this point. I appreciate that he did try to give some variety. Hey, here's the rap album.
13:55Here's the summer album. Here's the R&B album. But the flooding the zone aspect of
14:00it all and so much of the hypocrisy that we saw in the battle were kind of underlined in some
14:05of
14:05these albums. I mean, he does not have much accountability for his role in the beef and
14:09why so many people have turned their back on him. His fans will love it. They'll see the bright
14:15sides in it. I mean, of the 42 songs, 43 songs, you know, there's 10 or 15 that will grow
14:21and play
14:21in the clubs. And I ran to one of the albums today. So, you know, it's Drake. He's ever present.
14:27It's fine. But is it reestablishing his spot at the top of hip hop again? No, that is our
14:33guy, Aaron Ladd joining us on the show today. Aaron, we'll catch up with you, man. I appreciate
14:38you. Yeah. When's that border war documentary coming out, man? I got my tickets. I'm sitting
14:42here. Here you go. Lying. Why are you told so many lies in this thing? You know, you sound
14:47a lot like Kendrick Lamar, a lot of lies in today's interview. A lot of, a lot of lies. I
14:51can't
14:51support that. I can't be a part of that. A lot of lies from our guy, Aaron Ladd. Rob,
14:58what do you think the career?
