00:00So if you could have a do-over with a Kansas City Chiefs player, I mean Max.
00:04I don't know where this one came from.
00:06I really don't.
00:07This is good.
00:08As soon as I saw the name, I'm like, oh, okay, I get where Max.
00:10I feel like I know what your take's going to be.
00:12But, Bob, why don't you start off since your name's at the top?
00:14Yeah.
00:15Thinking about Rasheed Rice.
00:16I was.
00:16I was thinking about Rice yesterday.
00:18Like, I don't know.
00:18Prisons fascinate me.
00:19They always have, right?
00:21And I guess it was because of the Scared Straight program in high school.
00:23We got to tour them and see them.
00:25Have you been to the Rock?
00:26I have not.
00:27That's weird.
00:28I figured you'd have already been there.
00:29Well, it would cost money, dude.
00:31I can see it.
00:32You know, I took the cruise back.
00:33It's like the Statue of Liberty for you.
00:35You're like, it's there.
00:35It's right there.
00:36But I'll pay to go to the Statue of Liberty.
00:38The Rock, for whatever reason, I just never have.
00:40Because I think it's actually pretty expensive to go out there.
00:42Is it really?
00:43Yeah, I think it is.
00:44I think it's somewhere between $50 and $100 or something.
00:46But I could be totally wrong.
00:47That may be just me.
00:48I haven't been out there since, like, 2014.
00:51But, no, I've never been to the Rock.
00:52But prisons have always just kind of fascinated me with what goes on.
00:56I like prison movies, all that kind of stuff, right?
00:58And so I'm thinking about Rasheed Rice, man.
01:00And part of the fascination that I have with the prisons is I think about all of these people that
01:06are in there that have just wasted their lives and wasted opportunities that were given to them.
01:11No matter what they are in life, they're sitting behind these bars rotting.
01:14And you hope they learn.
01:15And I'm hoping Rasheed Rice learns, you know, that what he did and what he could continue to do could
01:21even be more than 30 days in prison if he doesn't behave himself off the field.
01:25I hope he really does get that scared straight message.
01:28But we'll see ultimately what happens.
01:29So I'm like, I wish we could just give this guy a do-over, right?
01:32Like, if we could just start this career over and hit, like, a do-over button, I would love to
01:38give Rasheed Rice a do-over because he's going to be done with the Chiefs at the end of this
01:42season most likely.
01:43And we're going to look at that and we're going to go, what do we get out of Rasheed Rice?
01:47Man, if we could hit the do-over and he could just stay out of trouble off the field, maybe
01:51he does turn into that best wide receiver in franchise history like they had the expectation for when they drafted
01:57him a couple of years ago.
02:00So your do-over is Rasheed Rice?
02:01Yeah.
02:02It is.
02:03Or, no, I mean, thinking about Rasheed Rice.
02:05I was going to say, I thought there was somebody else on that.
02:06Yeah, Clyde Edwards-Alaire, I'd love to give the do-over to.
02:09I'd love to give the do-over button to Clyde Edwards-Alaire.
02:12But Rasheed Rice, no, he's number one on that list.
02:13But Clyde is number two on that list.
02:15That first game that he had, man.
02:17That first game that he had was so good.
02:19It was like, we got our guy.
02:21But do we remember anything after, really, that first game with Clyde Edwards-Alaire?
02:2425 carries, 138 yards, and a touchdown.
02:27I'm not trying to be a Richard, but I remember that game, and then I remember he became a nurse.
02:31Yeah.
02:31Well, that's exactly right.
02:33That's the point.
02:34Yeah, you're right.
02:35And more power to him, because if I didn't do this, I'd probably get in the medical field in that
02:38sort of way.
02:39Because, dude, just pay me to lift bodies onto beds or help you out some way.
02:43I don't know anything about a vein or an artery, but, man,
02:45I'd be doing my part in life.
02:47Yeah, helping out.
02:48There's a lot of hot naces out there.
02:50I had 160 yards as rookie year against Buffalo in week six.
02:53And then after that, I don't remember that game.
02:55Oh, I remember that Buffalo game.
02:56The Buffalo game, two touchdowns, or one?
02:58I know he had one in the corner.
02:59Let me see.
03:01Buffalo, zero touchdowns.
03:04Zero touchdowns.
03:04I don't remember it either.
03:05Yeah, I guess you don't remember it.
03:07I had two touchdowns in that game.
03:09He had none.
03:09Oh, okay.
03:10But I remember that game.
03:11It was a quarter of the end zone.
03:12But I remember everybody, when they saw that game, they were like, okay, cool.
03:16Exactly.
03:16This is part of that LSU offensive tree.
03:18But, I mean, again, like, to Bob's point, we'd all love to do that one over.
03:22Yeah.
03:22Because we all watched that team.
03:23That's the greatest offensive team I've ever seen in college history.
03:27And you realize that was like 2019 now, guys, how long ago that was?
03:30Just to put it into perspective, because Clyde was the 2020 draft when Goodell was sitting in his living room
03:35eating M&Ms, right?
03:35And the only reason I know that is 2020 draft is because Jamar Chase decided not to go to the
03:40draft and wait a year.
03:41Because when Jefferson came out as a rookie, they were like, man, you're really good.
03:44He's like, what's with my other guy that comes out into the league?
03:46And you're like, oh, Jamar's better.
03:47And then the debate started without even one of them playing.
03:50Yeah, which one's going to be better?
03:51And it's still going on now.
03:53And the debate is still going on right now.
03:54Because that's how good both of those guys are.
03:56And Clyde was the running back on that team.
03:57And Joe Burrow, obviously, was the quarterback on that team.
04:00They just rehired the head coach of that team to coach at LSU right now.
04:03I love that.
04:04Absolutely.
04:04That's a great move by them.
04:06But no, Clyde is that one guy.
04:07We're like, damn, if we could just get a do-over on him.
04:10Because what if he works out?
04:11Who knows?
04:12Maybe we win a couple of suits.
04:13Never mind.
04:15But seriously, like Clyde is that guy.
04:17That would have been awesome.
04:17Yeah, he had 400-yard games, one of which was that first game ever in the league.
04:22And he only had three others after that.
04:24Yep.
04:24All in his first two seasons.
04:26Yeah.
04:26What about you, Dusty?
04:28Kareem Hunt.
04:29That's a good one, too.
04:30Yep.
04:31Watching what he did that first.
04:33You talk about Clyde's first game.
04:34That first game that Kareem Hunt had against the Patriots, where I believe the next couple
04:39of weeks, people were copying plays that Andy Reid had drawn up for Kareem Hunt.
04:43He had the one fumble, right?
04:45You remember that game?
04:46Remember that moment?
04:47Like, fumbled one time at, what, Toledo?
04:49One time.
04:50And then fumbles once.
04:52Andy Reid taps him on the helmet.
04:53And then just explodes.
04:55Just got right back to him, man.
04:56Leads the league in rushing that year.
04:57It was one of the down years in running back eras for the NFL.
05:01What do you have, like 1,100?
05:02Not even that, right?
05:03I think it was more than that.
05:04I'll have to look here real quick.
05:05Was it 1,300 yards?
05:06Yeah, I think it was like 1,300.
05:07So, leads the league in rushing that year.
05:10He's elusive on all aspects of the field.
05:13He can catch.
05:13He can block.
05:14He was the perfect piece for the Andy Reid offense.
05:19He really was.
05:19And that offense, when he was doing that in 17, and then you have him for, like, the
05:25first six weeks in 18, and you're like, man, Mahomes, Hunt, Hill, Kelsey, holy smoke.
05:33Like, that's four guys.
05:34Yep.
05:35And now we're like, all right, we got Mahomes, and Kelsey's 35.
05:42Who's the receiver we're leading?
05:44I mean, Kareem Hunt made that offense what it was.
05:48And what he did for Alex Smith and what he did for Patrick Mahomes as a first-year starter
05:54through, like, six weeks of the season, and then it was done because of dumb mistakes
05:58and lies, because you can't lie, and you can't be a domestic abuser.
06:02And I don't know if I can go back in time and, like, change people, but, man, to kind
06:10of, like, if you could take some of the future and go back to the past and take three Super
06:17Bowl rings and a check that says $35 million and say, hey, man, all you've got to do is
06:25stay disciplined and true to yourself, and all of this will be yours, right?
06:30And I don't know if that would change him, because I think part of the success led to
06:36the downfall.
06:37And unfortunately...
06:38And then he kept falling down, too.
06:40And then there was a DUI in Cleveland, and then you realize when he said in the back of
06:43the cop car, I should be a Super Bowl champion, I should have done that.
06:46That was sad.
06:47That was very sad.
06:49I actually felt bad for him in that moment.
06:51But, I mean, we talk about Rice hitting that gut-check moment, I think that was Kareem's
06:55moment.
06:56No doubt.
06:56Because then after that, he gets signed by Cleveland, he goes to the Browns, has a couple
07:00of good years, and then he comes to Kansas City, and the narrative of Kareem Hunt changed.
07:04If we had today's Kareem Hunt in 2017, 2018, 2019, no, he's probably not here.
07:11He probably doesn't get a second contract.
07:13No, no, probably not.
07:13No.
07:13That's just probably the way the NFL works back then.
07:15Three more seasons, two and a half more seasons.
07:18A prime.
07:18A prime.
07:19And then you let him go, and everybody's good with that.
07:21And he was everything that we wanted a running back in the NFL today.
07:25Block, catch, run, explosive.
07:28Not going to have like 80, not going to have like 95 speed on Madden.
07:31No.
07:31But he's going to have breaking tackle ability, and he's going to have the agility of like
07:37what, because like, I just watched a highlight, which is funny we're doing this topic, because
07:40I just watched 2017 Kareem Hunt, like, highlight on Twitter.
07:44And the first thing they showed was the Patriots game, and I'm just like, oh, my God.
07:47Yeah, that's where he came onto the scene.
07:50And they blew them out.
07:52That was the game everybody goes, is it time for ready to retire?
07:54Is it time for time to retire?
07:55Well, that was another Chiefs beating that cost them.
07:57It was 2014, and then that game, like, every time the Chiefs beat his ass, they go, is
08:01he ready to retire?
08:02And he'd go on to win two more.
08:03Literally.
08:04Maybe three.
08:0642-27.
08:07Blew him out.
08:08Blew him at 27 was a garbage time.
08:11How many touchdowns?
08:12Three.
08:12And how many total yards?
08:15I have to go back, because I was going to his 28, 148 yards.
08:19Oh, my God.
08:20He had 98 yards receiving, 148 yards rushing.
08:22That was one.
08:23That wheel route, though, that was one play he had, like, 50-some yards.
08:27It was spectacular.
08:28It was great.
08:29So, yeah, 250 yards.
08:31And hopefully that's what Emmitt Johnson can be this year for the Chiefs, kind of that
08:34guy out of the backfield to do those things.
08:36I don't think Ken Walker is necessarily going to be a Kareem Hunt style.
08:39I think Emmitt Johnson is more of a guy that can be that style of running back, out in
08:43the flats, catching passes, doing that thing.
08:45I'd like Walker to be more of a runner.
08:46But I think what we've learned so far through these first two names is that people know ours.
08:51They won't know Max.
08:53But also, what it comes down to is we're talking about people who didn't take care of business
08:57off the field that have turned into people.
09:00Oh, man, if you just took care of business and were a normal human being, you'd still
09:04be playing in the NFL and making a lot of money and not be behind bars.
09:07It's amazing what happens when you're an adult off the field.
09:11Mack, who do you have?
09:12My guy, I think he was a total adult off the field.
09:15It just wasn't on the or off the field.
09:17He wasn't just he wasn't on the field enough.
09:19Dorian O'Daniel.
09:20D.O.D., baby.
09:21D.O.D.
09:22Oh, this guy was supposed to be a stud linebacker, sideline to sideline.
09:26And here's my do over.
09:27Here's my take here.
09:29This was a coaching malpractice here by Spagnuolo.
09:33This guy should have been on the field more.
09:34We've been looking for linebackers.
09:36Nick Bolton was not here yet.
09:37Willie Gay.
09:38I don't even know if he was quite here yet.
09:41Anthony Hitchens.
09:42I don't know if they had paid him yet from Dallas.
09:44Oh, he Anthony Hitchens was gone by the time Spags got here.
09:47Yeah.
09:48Well, Dorian O'Daniel was gone by the time Spags here got here as well.
09:52So I guess this is a Bob Sutton issue.
09:53I guess I'm mad at Bob Sutton.
09:54Wow.
09:54We're going all the way back to Bob Sutton.
09:57Like all the athletes in Kansas City sports, you can hit the do over button on.
10:00Mac goes with Dorian O'Daniel.
10:02Did you and Binkley consult on this one?
10:04No.
10:05No, he's going to get a text suit.
10:05Totally agree, Mac.
10:06Yeah.
10:07Get Binkley on line.
10:08I just know D.O.D. was.
10:09I know what you're talking about because I remember D.O.D.
10:11I remember the hype train of D.O.D.
10:13I thought he was the style of linebacker that we have now.
10:16Smaller, faster.
10:17You wanted him to be Drew Tranquil.
10:19Yes, 100%.
10:20Leo Chanel.
10:20Yes, I wanted him to be used in multiple facets.
10:23I thought he was fast.
10:23I thought he could be like a Nick Bolton.
10:26Somebody says, Max Pick needs a do over.
10:30Take the rest of the month.
10:34Somebody says, do over for Brett Veach.
10:36He should have drafted D.K. Metcalf.
10:39There we go.
10:41Always.
10:42I feel that, though.
10:43I was so mad knowing that they didn't take him.
10:46But whatever.
10:47It's Tyreek Hill's fault.
10:48It's not.
10:49No, it is.
10:50It absolutely is.
10:51No, you take the better player at the same position.
10:54It doesn't matter about stylistic.
10:55They went on to win a couple of Super Bowls.
10:56Take the 6'5 guy with an A-pack.
10:57I'm fine.
10:57It's fine.
10:58It really is fine.
10:59I will say.
11:00They won Super Bowls.
11:01Different conversations.
11:01Yeah, they whipped on not taking D.K., but so many other teams did to where, like, where I finally
11:08got peace with it.
11:10He was like, yeah, we fumbled the bag there.
11:14But why did everybody else?
11:15Like, you know what I mean?
11:16Like, you look at a guy who's 6'5", who could break an entire ice chest over his own eight
11:24-pack and ran a 4'3".
11:25But yet, everyone passed.
11:28There's a lot of workout warriors that we see all the time.
11:30Oh, my God.
11:31That guy looks like an Adonis, and then he can't play.
11:33But yet, then we take Xavier Worthy in the first round.
11:37Yeah.
11:38And I'm just like, where did we?
11:39They wanted the speed.
11:40They covet speed.
11:42Like, that's, you know, the Royals covet analytics or whatever.
11:46The Chiefs have always coveted speed.
11:48From the time Andy Reid walked in the door, it's been all about speed.
11:51It's never been about that big, powerful, wide receiver that we've all coveted, right?
11:56It's funny.
11:56Fans have wanted this.
11:57We want this big, wide receiver.
11:59And Andy Reid's like, man, we're good.
12:00Same 40 time.
12:01I'll take the guy with the same 40 time, five more inches and 50 more pounds.
12:05Again, it does not matter.
12:07You're right.
12:07Who won Super Bowls.
12:08But it also does matter, because the team would have been better.
12:09But how could it have been better when it did?
12:13That's where you're missing the boat, Mac.
12:16And I will say that.
12:16I think you're being very short-sighted on this.
12:19To have three Super Bowl championships in seven years.
12:21They're different conversations.
12:23That's not that they weren't.
12:24They're completely different conversations.
12:24For me, they're not, though.
12:25No, they are.
12:25For me, they're not.
12:26Because I don't really care what they missed on, because they didn't fail.
12:29It wasn't like what's going on with the Royals right now, right?
12:32Where they're failing, and they're missing on everything right now.
12:36The Chiefs may have missed on a guy.
12:38They could have had a better wide receiver here.
12:40But it's not going to change the end results.
12:42It's not going to change.
12:43Like, you won Super Bowls.
12:45It's not like, man, we could have won a Super Bowl if we had DK Metcalf.
12:49You legitimately won three in five years.
12:51And so, when you have those end results, it's hard for me to go back and care, really, quite frankly,
12:56about them taking McCall Harbin over DK Metcalf.
12:59Again, and if you want to really boil it down, McCall catches a game-winning touchdown pass, too.
13:03So, he contributed to that team winning Super Bowls in multiple Super Bowls.
13:07Not to say that DK Metcalf wouldn't.
13:09If they hadn't won Super Bowls and they were always struggling in that passing game,
13:13it's a great conversation to have.
13:15I look at it and go, I've had a great run watching this team.
13:19They've got three Super Bowl championships.
13:20They've been to five of those.
13:21There's really not much more they could have done in that five- to seven-year span.
13:26And I don't know how they become a better overall team just by having DK Metcalf versus, you know,
13:33McCall Harbin based on the end results.
13:38Did Georgia win the national title that year?
13:41What year?
13:42Were they drafted McCall Harbin the next year?
13:4420, that would have been, what, 2020, 2019?
13:47No, that was 21 probably, right?
13:51Or was he drafted before COVID?
13:53I thought it was before.
13:55Because I know the reason they drafted Dee Ford was because he just went nuts on Jameis Winston.
14:00Because Dee Ford Auburn sacked Winston, I think, like, a couple times in that championship game
14:05or maybe it was SEC.
14:06It was 2019, it was McCall Harbin, and they did not win the national championship.
14:09They had been in it.
14:10But he did, he had, like, a game or something that stuck out.
14:14He did, yeah.
14:14And you're like, oh, who's this kid?
14:16Oh, yeah.
14:16And then Tyreek has the incident at the airport that gets blown out of proportion,
14:19and then we play the whole recording on this show, or not on this show,
14:22but on this station.
14:23It was one of the wildest days of my life.
14:25And then all of a sudden you're like, oh, yeah, McCall Harbin, that's the next Tyreek.
14:29But what's funny is DK was Tyreek, but tall.
14:32Yeah.
14:33And here we are still trying to recreate Tyreek Hill.
14:35Because I can't remember what he did at Ole Miss.
14:37Are we trying to do that or is the organization trying to do that?
14:39Well, that's what I mean.
14:39Of course, yeah.
14:40No, I can't recreate anything.
14:43I'm legitimately asking, though.
14:44Are we as fans trying to recreate Tyreek Hill, or is the organization trying to re –
14:50because if the organization is trying to recreate Tyreek Hill, we need to have a long talk, Brett.
14:55We really do.
14:56Well, they don't just cover speed.
14:57That's my point is it's not just speed that they covered.
15:00It's not.
15:00Because if it was speed, they would have taken DK – or they would have considered other guys.
15:03It's a size, speed combination.
15:06It is a speed, size.
15:07Look at Deshaun Jackson, right?
15:09How successful was Andy Reid with Deshaun Jackson?
15:13Pretty damn successful, right?
15:14He's coached the two best deep threats of all time.
15:16And that's what I'm getting at.
15:17That's his bread and butter.
15:18So, if that's your bread and butter as a coach, and you're really good at doing that,
15:22then you set your guys up to have that success.
15:25You give Andy Reid the players that he wants, right?
15:28That's kind of how you do business.
15:30If he goes, I want these guys because this is how my system fits best.
15:33Let's go get them, and let's take care of business.
15:34Great.
15:35And they've won everywhere.
15:36You can't question the results of Andy Reid.
15:38And so, he just likes that style of wide receiver, right?
15:41Just like maybe you like a blonde, and somebody likes a brunette.
15:45So, I have a question.
15:47I don't know if this is, you know, me not doing my job.
15:50When did A.J. Brown get drafted by the Titans?
15:52Was it top 10 pick?
15:54Top 8?
15:55Yeah.
15:56You were there, right?
15:58Yeah, it would have been there.
15:59That would have been...
15:59No, he wasn't top 10 pick.
16:02Top 15?
16:03No, I feel like he dropped...
16:04So, were they just not good at Ole Miss?
16:05Or was this before the receivers just...
16:07Ole Miss, Ole Miss, yeah, Ole Miss was not that great.
16:08No, not back in those days.
16:10No, they were not great.
16:11No, no, no.
16:11No, A.J. Brown was a beast, though.
16:13A.J. Brown was a beast in college.
16:15But Brown was better than Metcalf in college.
16:17In college?
16:18Yeah, statistically, yeah.
16:19Probably.
16:20He's second round.
16:20Second round.
16:21A.J. Brown, 51st overall.
16:22And D.K. was what, 38th?
16:24Yeah, 38th or something, yeah.
16:26Jeez.
16:27Who was the quarterback at Ole Miss?
16:29Eli Manning.
16:31Back then, it would have been Matt Corral, maybe.
16:34Oh, God.
16:35If I remember correctly.
16:36I mean, would you...
16:38That's a hell of a name right there.
16:39Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase, Malik Neighbors, and Brian Thomas Jr.
16:46Yeah, Matt Corral.
16:48D.K.
16:48Metcalf, A.J.
16:49Brown.
16:49Damn, not bad.
16:50Not bad.
16:51Not bad.
16:51Receiver duos in college.
16:53Woo!
16:54I still can't...
16:55I know that I'm hard.
16:56That picture of D.K.
16:57And A.J.
16:57And the gym.
16:58But it also goes to show you, though, like, you can have those great wide receivers.
17:01You still need a competent quarterback, and it all comes down to having that guy under
17:05center, because imagine if those two guys were playing with anybody else other than,
17:09you know, Golden Corral out there, whoever that guy's name was that you just mentioned.
17:12Like, if they had a legitimate quarterback, and, I mean, we would have been talking a lot
17:18about them, right?
17:19Those guys at LSU, fantastic players.
17:21I'm going to take it.
17:21But they also had Joe Burrow throwing them the football, who's a top quarterback in the
17:25NFL, right?
17:26Imagine if Ole Miss, imagine if Eli was the quarterback back then, or even Jackson Dart
17:30at that time, one of the good quarterbacks that Ole Miss had.
17:34Imagine what they could have done.
17:35You're sitting there telling those stories, and I'm listening, and I'm going, damn, they
17:39were legitimately a quarterback away from being one of those offenses that we talk about,
17:44like that 2018-2019 LSU team.
17:46For those of you wanting information about A.J.
17:48Brown, Ian Rappaport said yesterday the Patriots are not willing to give up a first-round
17:52pick as of right now.
17:54As of right now.
17:55That means they're not particularly close, and that means there is a chance this could
17:59drag on for the foreseeable future.
18:01Nobody wants that.
18:02Just make the trade and move on.
18:03But you know what?
18:04Then the Chiefs can get involved.
18:05Absolutely.
18:06Everybody's entering the group chat right now.
18:08And if you're willing to give up a first-round pick, comma, which I am, comma, for A.J.
18:12Brown, go ahead and do it, man.
18:14You're going to be picking 32 next year.
18:15Who the hell cares?
