00:00I did see, though, that there's a lot of noise still on the football front around the Chiefs in one
00:04particular position.
00:05Both Jeremy Fowler and Albert Breer this past weekend were discussing the Chiefs still, in their belief, looking for a
00:14veteran wide receiver.
00:15Fowler said the Chiefs still are interested in that.
00:17Albert Breer specifically mentioned the Chiefs and commanders when talking about Stephon Diggs.
00:22I know we know the name naturally that we all think is likely going to show up at some point.
00:27That's Tyree Kill. Do you think that there's a chance that they surprise us and it's somebody else?
00:32Because if you are going to bring in a vet, no matter what other issue you have with Tyree Kill,
00:37injury slash personal, whatever it might be,
00:39if you're going to bring in a vet, why wouldn't it just be Tyree Kill at this point?
00:43Well, especially if we're factoring in off the field issues, not like Stephon Diggs is without them.
00:48So like a player like that certainly would land in the same camp.
00:53I guess the only thing that would cause me some hesitation or why it might be somebody else's Stephon Diggs
00:57or Keenan Allen,
00:58who's another name that gets listed as a part of this Jeremy Fowler report is they're not coming off of
01:03a devastating injury.
01:05And if you're the Chiefs right now, maybe you want some stability early as you continue to try to figure
01:12out what version of your offense is.
01:14And the homes continues to come back.
01:15Maybe you want some safer available now white or wide receivers that are available to you in those first four
01:24to six weeks
01:24when homes is still hypothetically recovering, maybe not as mobile.
01:28Maybe you want some more sure things available to you.
01:32It's the only argument I can think of because other than that, yeah,
01:35if you're just talking about a football and understanding and fit of your system and scheme and all this other
01:39stuff,
01:40well, then the fairly obvious answer would be at that point, then Tyreek, who already fits it.
01:44But I think it's fairly obvious they want a wide receiver.
01:46There's way too much smoke.
01:47Talking about him in the draft early, like if the top, top guys, if Tate was available,
01:53they would have certainly been interested at six, but obviously went with Monsoor Delane.
01:57So wide receiver there, they were mentioned in Juwan Jennings, they're being mentioned in this report.
02:02And they've got no sure things at wide receiver.
02:06But they've got a lot of potential, but no sure things.
02:07There's a different level, though.
02:08Like, yes, will they add any, will there be another veteran receiver added by training camp or during camp?
02:13Yes, but there's a difference between adding a Tyreek killer, Stefan Diggs, to me,
02:16and adding Keenan Allen or someone much, much lower down on the pecking order, right?
02:21There's a variety of it.
02:22Yeah, I'd say that.
02:23You know, Juwan Jennings would have been a big splash, actually, you know?
02:26And we all know he's now in Minnesota with the Vikings.
02:29But I'm not surprised to continue to see these reports.
02:32The question will be when, if they bring in a vet.
02:35And my guess at this point, where OTAs is starting across some teams in the NFL this week,
02:39the Chiefs are not until, what, next week or whatever.
02:41Yeah.
02:41But we're probably going to find out, like, the week of camp or the week before we head up to
02:46St. Joe,
02:46if they're going to sign somebody.
02:48At this point, there's, like, what's the rush?
02:51But again, what is their depth?
02:53It is Rasheed Rice, who hasn't stayed on a football field for a full season in three years.
02:58Xavier Worthy, who has not yet developed into the type of wide receiver you need him to be.
03:03Tyquan Thornton, who you think you've got some potential with,
03:05but all of a sudden, he's your three, he was your five last year.
03:08And so, like, it's a thin rank.
03:11Like, they could use a guy that you're talking, like, they could use a Keenan Allen who's fourth on the
03:14list.
03:15And they could use a guy who they use more like Tyreek.
03:18The only thing that, you know, gets in the way is,
03:20do you stunt the development of a guy like Xavier Worthy?
03:23And that's, you know, that's the.
03:25Tyreek maybe does.
03:26I don't think signing Keenan Allen.
03:27Keenan Allen's going to be like a, you said fourth receiver.
03:30Fine.
03:30Yeah.
03:31I mean, I don't want to say Juju Smith used to roll in terms of blocking,
03:33but in terms of snaps like that.
03:35Yeah.
03:35And so, like, it doesn't stunt the growth of Xavier Worthy in that case.
03:39But also, you just have to answer yourself that question.
03:41Sometimes you talk about it like, if you don't think he can grow anymore,
03:44then who cares if it's stunted?
03:45Just build the best.
03:47I think the chief's organization still believes.
03:48We know for like a fact, the chief's organization still believes there's something else there from from Xavier Worthy.
03:54I don't think that.
03:55I don't think they're thinking of that.
03:56Yeah, sure.
03:57But it's like, I guess you still got to ask yourself that question as you go to look for wide
04:01receivers
04:01and what role they play and what snaps or whose snaps they'll take away from it.
04:05But they're also trying to build a winner.
04:06And right now, they're a wide receiver short.
04:09And it's probably, truthfully, somewhere in that three to five range,
04:12as in compete with Tyquan Thornton for the third most snaps.
04:17But, you know, like, we'll see who wins the battle.
04:20Because at this point, if your wide receiver room isn't still where she writes gets the most
04:23and Xavier Worthy gets the second most,
04:25well, then I got questions about how you're building this thing out.
04:28Or the players you brought back or decided to not move on from or anything else.
04:32I still think that they got a huge plan, as we've mentioned with Rashid.
04:34But, you know, at least adds to it.
04:36The offense is going to roll through him.
04:37But Xavier Worthy, I mean, we'll say it plenty of times, I'm sure, at camp.
04:41I mean, this is a massive season for him
04:43and going to tell us a lot about the future trajectory for his career
04:47and also the rest of the wide receiver room
04:49and just how much they're going to have to address it, you know, the following offseason.
04:53But this will not be the last time I'm sure there's reports
04:56and we talk about a veteran wide receiver maybe getting brought in to Kansas City
05:01by the time we get up to training camp.
05:03And the names are going to be the same, I think, until, you know,
05:05of course, until somebody else signs him, you know, Stephon Diggs.
05:08Heck, we're talking wide receiver on the defensive end.
05:10I'm going to still talk about Cam Jordan until he officially is off the market.
05:13Until Cam Jordan is not an option at defensive end,
05:15I'm going to still have a little bit of hope
05:17that the Chiefs feel like they need some defensive end help, too.
05:20And in fairness, like, every day he goes by, he becomes more affordable, in my opinion.
05:24You would think.
05:25That's normally how free agency works, where eventually that guy gets one for $4 million
05:29that could be upwards of $10 million if they play all 17 games,
05:32get double-digit sacks, and take the team to a conference title game.
05:35And that's less risky of paying than it used to be in Kansas City
05:38because the team's got a slightly less chance to actually pay out that bonus
05:42versus previous years, but, of course, willing to pay if that's the case.
05:45We will continue to remind you, by the way, that the Coding Gold Garage Sale is back.
05:49Working on the site now, hopefully in a week or two,
05:52you'll be able to start previewing all of those items.
05:55Started taking photos today, Gold.
05:57Got a lot of stuff built up over two years.
05:58Yeah, we've been putting some items up on the website behind the scenes,
06:01and, yeah, we will let you guys know.
06:03But we're going to have some fun experiences.
06:04Anybody that took part in the garage sale knows there's some really cool experiences,
06:09whether it's the private tour for 10 at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.
06:12We've got two Fan Club Friday passes that are going to be available.
06:15For those of you that like the Fan Club Friday,
06:17you'll have a chance to come in studio, hang out, have some Rieger whiskey with us.
06:21There's also a chance we get texts all the time, every year, every day, frankly,
06:24about, hey, you idiots, what are you talking about?
06:27I could do this job better, whatever it may be.
06:29Your chance to host your own one-hour sports talk show
06:31will be up for grab in the auction as well.
06:34So looking forward to that.
06:35Even after peer pressure on Friday, I locked in the Jake Eisenberg package.
06:39Yeah.
06:40Our Friday guest has agreed to terms to participate in the Cody and Gold Garage Sale.
06:46He's going to let you watch him work.
06:48You know, that's what people like to do when they come to Fan Club.
06:50We just also drink.
06:51They don't drink on their job, I don't think.
06:53They do not.
06:54They definitely do not.
06:55So those are some of the experiences we've added here recently.
06:58About a week or so out of the garage sale,
07:00we'll open up the website so people can start viewing some of those,
07:03and not to mention all the items and everything.
07:05So it all benefits the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum,
07:07the fifth annual Cody and Gold Garage Sale.
07:09That is Wednesday, June 10th, starting at 7 a.m. till 7 p.m.
07:16And, of course, during the show, we'll be highlighting some of that,
07:18and we'll have some guests calling in.
07:20That's coming up in just a few weeks.
07:22I think 22 days away or something like that.
