00:00Here's an argument here about the media.
00:02Shador Sanders took to the podium yesterday, which...
00:06All right, I'm going to say this quick.
00:08I'm going to say this quick.
00:09Deshaun didn't speak yesterday.
00:10I imagine Deshaun's going to speak next week or the week after that
00:13or how these off-seasons go, right?
00:16Afternoon, she lost her mind on this yesterday.
00:18I didn't mean to call anybody out.
00:19I imagine he's going to speak next week or the week after.
00:22I've got to take a look at the calendar here.
00:25If he's going to keep playing quarterback here, he'll have to talk at some point.
00:27Well, yeah, it can't be a starter and not speak.
00:29I mean, that's going to happen, but...
00:31Well, in camp, the quarterbacks all speak at some point.
00:34I understand that, but I'm just clarifying that I imagine he's going to speak next week
00:39and they just broke up the quarterbacks and didn't have all three talks.
00:42That's kind of what I assume.
00:42Okay, so I'm just making sure we don't need to...
00:45They had two of them talk.
00:46Yeah, well, you had three of them.
00:48Two's going to talk on one day and one's going to talk on the other.
00:50The one's going to be Sean Watson.
00:52You can each just talk on your own day or all talk together.
00:55You want three separate days for QBs?
00:57That's fine by me.
00:58Two separate days for QBs?
00:59Well, did they even have to do with treatments, when they're getting treatments or anything
01:02like that?
01:03Who the hell knows?
01:04Who knows?
01:05I just know that it wasn't worth losing my mind over yesterday.
01:09Well, did you have to hear from Deshaun?
01:12Was there something people wanted to hear from him?
01:13I don't know.
01:14I think there's plenty of fans out there that would never want to hear from him.
01:17I think in a world where we keep tallies on who starts and gets the most reps with which
01:23team and all that, I think hearing from quarterbacks either together, if you just did one, that's
01:30fine.
01:30I think when you do two, you should do three.
01:33So you didn't like it?
01:34Yeah.
01:34Wow.
01:35It's not that I didn't like it.
01:36Don't put that word out there.
01:37Oh, sorry.
01:37I just think logically, if you're going to do two, just do three.
01:43Well, he would have been compared directly, his answers to Shidor and just the overall
01:47tone of that.
01:49And I have to be honest, since Deshaun Watson has been here, he has not been a great communicator.
01:56Now, a lot of that had to do with him having to dance around his legal issues because that
02:01was all obviously getting settled behind the scenes.
02:04So he could never really address some of it.
02:07But, you know, we always talked about, oh, was he going to show remorse?
02:10Was he even allowed to show remorse?
02:12In the end, he just never had anything really interesting to say.
02:16It's also been two years since he's really been an active member of this football team.
02:19Yeah.
02:20There you go.
02:21So I'm sure he'll talk next week and I'm sure we'll break apart everything that he's talking
02:26about and see where he stands on Munkin and the former regime and being a football player
02:33again for crying out loud instead of just a guy who works out on Instagram for people
02:37to see.
02:38So this is an interesting set of circumstances.
02:41But Shidor had spoken yesterday and he spoke about vibes.
02:44Because Munkin great and all the other coaches on the staff is extremely great.
02:49You're going to stand and embrace you just as a person.
02:52Then they push you each and every day, you know, in the mean room and on the field, in
02:56the weight room.
02:57Like it's a new vibe.
02:58It's a new energy.
02:59The only thing we're missing is y'all.
03:00We need y'all to have a new vibe, new energy.
03:02I know y'all want us to win.
03:04So we need some winning energy here.
03:06You know what I'm saying?
03:07All right, Tone.
03:08I'll speak my piece in a second, but take her away.
03:10I love it.
03:11You did.
03:12This is the time of the year.
03:13Wow.
03:14Yay.
03:15All right.
03:15What's there to be negative about today?
03:18It's the celebration of, hey, football is getting underway.
03:23Obviously, I think Shidor knows everybody has to do their job once there's actually stuff
03:27to report on when there's obviously going to be the talking to the players and the coaches
03:34and, you know, setting your best foot forward for the new season.
03:38We're still trying to figure out Todd Munkin as a head coach with this new staff.
03:41I don't think there's anything to be negative about on day one in April.
03:45You think he meant y'all as in the media, the assembled media or y'all as the royal everyone
03:51out?
03:51No, I think he meant the media.
03:52The media.
03:53Yeah.
03:53I think he meant the media.
03:53It seemed pretty specific, I thought.
03:55Well, this is.
03:56I think that's losing sight of what the focus is.
03:58I love it when we do this and then us in the media.
04:04I love it.
04:06I didn't see a lot of that yesterday.
04:08I got a couple.
04:09Got a couple texts.
04:10Got a couple texts.
04:11And I just.
04:11I decided to be quiet because they know that.
04:15I saw a bunch of.
04:16They know.
04:16Yeah, it's April.
04:17No, they know.
04:17It's the first day of camp.
04:18We're back to Browns football again.
04:20We get to see guys running around, throwing 11 on 11, 7 on 7.
04:24Well, Browns media is known to be a little bit on the negative side.
04:26Now, you've discussed it before, and I think you're right.
04:30Even John has said, he goes, boy, you guys are way nicer than Philadelphia media.
04:34But either way.
04:36Browns media and Cleveland media are two different things, though, as well.
04:39Well, people just loop it all together.
04:41Now, look, I will say this.
04:43Like, you just said Browns media tends to be negative.
04:46I think people have the perception that Browns media tends to be negative.
04:50They match what they're reporting on.
04:53I'll tell you this.
04:54How do you feel about people like me talking about the Cavs every day?
04:57You've been a pretty big Cav supporter this year.
05:00How?
05:01Basically every year.
05:02How do you feel about, especially last year, what did you call me when I talked about the
05:06Guardians?
05:07I called you Anthony Dolan.
05:09Because you said I was an apologist for the baseball team.
05:12So, let's think about that.
05:13Let's put it in perspective.
05:15I'm positive about the Cavs.
05:17I'm positive about the Guardians.
05:19I'm negative about the Browns.
05:24Are you noticing any kind of a trend there?
05:27Yes, I am.
05:27Are we establishing any kind of logical pattern here?
05:31The trend has been established.
05:32Yes, the trend is being established.
05:33So, wouldn't it be weird if I was positive about the Browns but negative on the teams
05:39that go to the playoffs every year?
05:41That's true.
05:41Wouldn't that, that's actually one of my criticisms about someone on the station right now.
05:45But wouldn't that be, wouldn't that be really, like, I just looked, and we'll get to this
05:50in about last night.
05:51The Cavs' championship odds keep going up based on everything that's going on.
05:56Moving on up.
05:57And right now, they're fourth, and it's even tightening.
06:00They're getting closer to three?
06:01Yep.
06:03Is that not something I should be positive about?
06:05What are the Browns' championship odds today?
06:07But you're not critical.
06:07Hold on, somebody look it up.
06:08What are the Browns' championship odds today?
06:10Not good.
06:10Aren't they tied in the bottom four or five?
06:12I don't have time to go looking down there.
06:14I've got to give you my thoughts on this here.
06:16I'm guessing my level of positivity slash negativity is going to mirror that.
06:23So are you critical, Isidore, for saying that or not?
06:25No, not at all.
06:25Okay, because I thought you might be on their side because I got a bunch of texts, and I
06:29go, well, I imagine this is where Lyme is.
06:31So I apologize because I got some texts from some point in Cleveland and Cleveland Browns
06:36media, but even one person who doesn't even cover the team who heard those words.
06:42And the media gets awful defensive.
06:44What are the odds?
06:45What do you got them?
06:45Bottom five right now, according to ESPN, with the Raiders, Jets, Dolphins, Cardinals.
06:50That's a who's who right there.
06:52But I'm not coming on every day screaming about how bad the Browns are going to be in April.
06:56But I do think that.
06:57If that was happening from every direction, yeah, I'd be like, guys, are you going to
07:01give us a chance to be a normal football team?
07:02Like, we have a new coach.
07:04Let's at least learn the playbook before you're crushing us.
07:07Well, in the last 20 years, let me compare it this way.
07:09In the last 20 years, how many great pitchers have the Guardians had?
07:12A lot.
07:13Yeah.
07:13And so we were all led to assume that Tristan McKenzie was just going to be, I assumed that
07:19he was just going to be the next in line of great Guardians pitchers.
07:22So we put a lot of pressure on him.
07:23Now, that's positive pressure.
07:25And when he can't come around for a multitude of reasons, I don't begrudge him for the rest
07:29of his career for crying out loud, but it just wasn't working out here.
07:32It's that much more disappointing when it doesn't go that way.
07:36Well, that's...
07:37He's new.
07:38He didn't step into that.
07:39He didn't ask to step into that.
07:41He was selected.
07:42For Shador and for a lot of guys, they're not from here.
07:45And they come from successful programs where the vibes are pretty positive.
07:50I mean, if you come from the Buckeyes, who's negative around the Buckeyes in Columbus?
07:54There's very little reason to be negative about the Buckeyes in Columbus.
07:57They come from great programs where there's very little reason to be negative.
08:01And then you come here, and I think that they are a little bit shell-shocked where, yeah,
08:06you know, you're stepping into 20 years, for the most part, 20-plus years, of futility.
08:10And so there's a lot of stuff where Shador didn't ask for it, and even other players didn't
08:15ask for it.
08:16But they're still having to deal with the residual effect from media and even fans of the players
08:22that came and failed before them.
08:24And also, this isn't a college town.
08:27This isn't Boulder.
08:29Your dad's not the head coach.
08:31Your dad, the coach, doesn't have the ability to ban media from covering the team because
08:35they said something negative, which happened.
08:37Dion, go look it up.
08:38Dion did have kind of a penchant for, oh, I don't like what that guy said.
08:42He is no longer going to get a credential here.
08:44Yeah, he has no power over that here.
08:47So it is different.
08:48Imagine if you were in Boulder and it was a bunch of rah-rah, and rightfully so.
08:52It was awesome.
08:53It was an awesome story.
08:54They were a national story.
08:56Things are going south in a hurry there right now.
08:58I'm a little worried about the future of Dion and what they're doing in Boulder.
09:00That's either here nor there.
09:02But there was so much positivity because they had earned it.
09:06They had started to earn it.
09:07They were winning games.
09:08They were turning around the program.
09:10They were on 60 minutes.
09:11There was an energy there.
09:13When you do that in Cleveland, they'll throw a parade for you, Shador.
09:16You will not have to worry about the media being negative in Cleveland, Ohio.
09:19Ohio, we cried on the air when we went to the playoffs.
09:23Ken and I sobbed.
09:25We sobbed.
09:25Ken and Owen made fun of us real bad.
09:27Yes.
09:27So did Keith.
09:27Keith still throws it on my face to this day.
09:29Oh, absolutely.
09:30They wanted to humiliate us over that.
09:32I won't cry in front of my own sons.
09:34I'm serious.
09:34I went downstairs.
09:35When my mother died, I recused myself from the situation and went downstairs because I
09:40wouldn't do it in front of my children.
09:41And I did it that day on the radio when they made the playoffs.
09:44Was there any negativity after that?
09:46No.
09:47And even, honestly, even when they lost the game the way they did to Kansas City, sure,
09:52we looked at some coaching decisions here and there or whatever.
09:54But in the end, we left that season going, holy cow, this is going to be a lot of fun
09:59over the next five years.
10:01So we were positive.
10:03That's what happens.
10:03You earn that positivity.
10:05And so I have no problem that Shador said that.
10:07I think every fan has the right.
10:09I make fun of fans for being delusional this time of year.
10:11But hey, there's nothing wrong with that.
10:13Lock arms.
10:14Let's get excited.
10:15Let's go to Berea.
10:16The first chance we get and go, here we go, Brownies.
10:18Here we go.
10:18I'm with Shador.
10:20New coach.
10:20New energy.
10:21All that stuff is fun.
10:23But don't expect cheerleaders if you start out one in five.
10:27I don't think it would be naive to think so.
10:30I don't think he would.
10:31I have to say that on his account.
10:33I am surprised you had that opinion, though.
10:35That is very strong.
10:37And I like it a lot.
10:38Here we are, not disagreeing again.
10:40Damn it, we've had three great chances, and here we are.
