00:00I'm going to get you on the Browns front here as we welcome in Daryl Ryder, brought to you by
00:04Scheiben Jewelers, Cleveland's premier jewelry store.
00:07Hi, Daryl. How are you doing, buddy?
00:08Hello, boys.
00:10Hello.
00:11How are we?
00:11Good. How do we feel that AI treated you in the Lance Reisland AI-generated graphic?
00:18I have to say that the AI has been good to me. I kind of feel like a little bit
00:23of an upgrade there.
00:23You definitely had some muscle definition to yourself.
00:26Yeah, like a little bit of an upgrade there.
00:28Did you wear the shirt from the AI photo intentionally or unintentionally?
00:32No, unintentionally.
00:33Okay, because it looks like the same shirt.
00:34No.
00:35Actually, in the AI, it looks like you guys are all wearing, it's almost like a cult, except it looks
00:40like Jake has a hoodie on.
00:42But it looks like the same shirt other than one of them just has a hoodie on it.
00:46Yeah, I can confirm we do not coordinate wardrobes for the off-season special.
00:50Yeah, it's so funny when people talk about like, oh, you got a face for radio.
00:56It's like, I got a wardrobe for one, too.
00:57Yes.
00:58Yeah, 100%.
00:59Honestly, if they ever instituted a dress code, it might push me towards the exit.
01:03Then they put cameras in the studio, and that's gone great for all of us.
01:08It actually has gone pretty well.
01:09Yeah, I think it's worked out nicely.
01:10We had a nice little viral video yesterday.
01:12Although I do have a lot of shirts that pop a lot more.
01:16Your shirt today is popping for sure.
01:18Yeah, yeah.
01:19And that's because in person...
01:20It's very festive.
01:21In person, it kind of looks maybe a little ridiculous, but I like how it looks on the YouTube.
01:25Or really, on the Twitter.
01:26It just...
01:28It's nice.
01:29All right.
01:29We have the one polo that...
01:31Or hoodie that you have that I also have.
01:33Yeah.
01:33It's the only time we have to coordinate and actually figure out if, like, is it safe to
01:36wear the white blue hoodie today?
01:38Yeah.
01:38It looks a little ridiculous.
01:40Yeah, it does.
01:40I will ask you, because JP locked in...
01:43I'm locked in.
01:44...on what he thinks is going to happen tomorrow.
01:46Yeah.
01:46They're going to trade out a six?
01:47Every way.
01:48Real quick.
01:48Whoa, whoa, whoa.
01:49You're in the content game here, Daryl.
01:51We let it play out.
01:53We let it breathe a little bit.
01:54However, I want something that you won't tomorrow flip-flop on.
02:00And...
02:01No, this is like McShay's final mock draft.
02:04I want you to double, triple lock it in what you think they're going to do with the six
02:09pick tomorrow.
02:10I'll even give you 24.
02:11You can lock in one of those two.
02:14Here's what we want to avoid.
02:15You tomorrow, after them having the six overall pick and either trading out of it, or then
02:20making the selection.
02:20And I can see the tweet right now, because I follow your tweets, and you do a good job
02:23on there.
02:24Great on Twitter.
02:25No surprise.
02:26Yeah.
02:26I'm not shocked.
02:27I can't...
02:28Saw this coming a mile away.
02:30We don't want that.
02:31Look, and it's...
02:31Okay, so I'm not allowed to use the words not surprised tomorrow night.
02:36Unless you nail it.
02:38Even though...
02:38Unless you nail it.
02:40Okay, so if something happens, then I need to put shocker on it, right?
02:44That's what's got to be shocker.
02:46Browns trade out of six.
02:47That's a different part of Twitter.
02:48Okay.
02:49Yeah.
02:49Now, here's why.
02:51Because it's not Daryl specific.
02:53Although it's a little Daryl specific.
02:54But it's because everyone's saying that anything's on the table.
02:58So there's going to be a lot of victory laps tomorrow where no one's taking a firm stance
03:03on what the Browns are going to do.
03:04Well, my firm stance is they will trade out of six.
03:09Sounds very firm.
03:10And as they try to do that, Andrew Barry will attempt to get a 2027 first or second round
03:19pick for doing so.
03:20Now...
03:21You can't respond and say, no surprise, no bidders bought what Andrew Barry was trying
03:26to sell at six overall.
03:27You know what?
03:28I'll say surprise.
03:29Browns stay pat at six and they select...
03:31Okay.
03:31Insert namey.
03:32I like this.
03:33I'll get it somewhere.
03:33Not getting somewhere.
03:34Because I'm convinced they're trading out.
03:35The foresale sign's been on that pick for weeks.
03:37I'm convinced they're not going to be able to find a buyer and they're going to actually
03:40end up taking number six overall.
03:41Cincinnati dumping out at 10 was a little interesting.
03:46Surprising?
03:47No.
03:48Well...
03:48Nothing surprising.
03:49Well, no.
03:50I think part of it...
03:51Well, it's a little surprising because they didn't want to pay Trey Hendrickson, right?
03:55Yeah.
03:55Which would have been the easy move.
03:58And then you go ahead and you trade the 10th pick for Dexter Lawrence.
04:01Now, Lawrence is 28 years old.
04:04He's been a multi-time pro bowler, all pro, interior, run-stuffing defensive lineman.
04:13But I kind of feel like they could have just kept their pick and extended Hendrickson and
04:19been done with it.
04:20So I just feel like that franchise, they went backward before going forward again.
04:26And they're kind of in neutral because now they don't have a top 10 pick.
04:31And I wonder if, too, that's an indictment of what the real true feelings of this draft
04:36class are.
04:37Because everyone's saying around the NFL right now, good class, right?
04:41Good, strong class.
04:42We like the players.
04:43We heard Andrew Barry do it last week.
04:46I'm not convinced that everyone is as in love with this particular draft class.
04:52Todd McShay, he's got 10 first-round grades.
04:55He's like the lowest he's had in like 10 years or something like that.
04:57Like, it's not...
04:58They're just not littered everywhere.
04:59And so even like we talked about teams they'd trade with, I'm not convinced the Cowboys
05:03are going to make a big move forward.
05:05I just don't see it.
05:06They need cornerback help.
05:08They need depth.
05:09I don't know.
05:09There'll be...
05:10There's two different cornerbacks they can take at the spot they're currently at in the
05:13first round.
05:14I...
05:14Yeah, but I think Delaney's better than anybody else.
05:17I think you might have to leapfrog Kansas City to get to Delaney.
05:20I'm talking about six overall, though.
05:22Like, to go to six.
05:23Yeah.
05:24Well, you have to leapfrog Kansas City because you're 12.
05:25Oh, yeah, but even so, there's two cornerbacks there.
05:29There's enough that they can do.
05:30And also, I don't think they're in the position, because I don't think they're going to be particularly
05:33good next year in order to make the move up anyway.
05:36You make the move up if you're in the spot where...
05:38A couple teams you brought up, like the Rams, for instance, they could be on the table.
05:41If they need a right tackle, I'll listen to it.
05:43But the Cowboys aren't in the spot.
05:45They're going to win seven, eight games next year.
05:46They're not one piece away from contending and making this a real final piece for the Super
05:51Bowl.
05:51Well, it doesn't make sense to me.
05:53Well, I'm looking at teams that have their quarterback situation settled, because that's
05:58what next year's draft is all about.
06:00It's about this, what is expected to be.
06:03I know we hear this all the time.
06:04Andrew Barry mocked it last year as well.
06:06But we thought it was going to be this year.
06:08That's part of the reason everyone's so excited about the trade down with Jacksonville last
06:12year, going from two to five and giving them Travis Hunter.
06:15You go ahead and take Mason Graham.
06:17Is that, oh, well, 26 is the year you can move up, get your quarterback, and then you
06:21really move things forward.
06:22Well, that never materialized.
06:23This is not the draft class that you want to be in a position where you have to make a
06:28move like that.
06:29You know, Fernando Mendoza is going to go first overall.
06:31I don't think he's within the same area code of being the best player in this draft.
06:35But he's a quarterback.
06:36He's the best quarterback that's available coming off a national championship.
06:39Heisman Trophy.
06:40So the Raiders are going to go that route.
06:41And best of luck to them.
06:43But, you know, I do think that some things can happen tomorrow and this weekend that
06:50will shed some light on maybe the futures of Myles Garrett with the Browns, because that
06:55is a thing, whether people want to talk about it or not.
06:59And then also, too, the positioning for next year, because the Browns are telling the fans,
07:05they're telling us, hey, you know, we're going to try and win games this year.
07:08We need to win more games than we did last year, right?
07:11And, well, that means the only way you're getting in position to get a quarterback next
07:16year is if you move up.
07:17And in order to do that, you need assets.
07:19All right.
07:19Now they don't have enough.
07:20So I'm actually curious about that, because I was thinking about this.
07:22We've been threatening to talk about it for a couple days.
07:25Maybe we'll get to it tomorrow.
07:27So is there a path that if you look at it, you're going to say they're serious about 2026
07:33in this draft?
07:34And is there a path?
07:35I think the obvious path is it's all about 2027.
07:37If you have multiple trade downs in the first round, and all of a sudden, you know, maybe
07:42you're two picks in the 20s or something like that.
07:45You do a Joe Banner draft, right?
07:46Where you just basically punt on the whole thing, take a couple players, and then that's
07:50that.
07:51Yeah.
07:51I think if they stay put at six, they stay put at six, it's also interesting hearing
07:58all this buzz today.
07:59There's going to be run-on offensive linemen, you know, before you get to the mid-teens.
08:04Teams are just going to line up and get those guys off the board.
08:07Well, if that really is the case, okay, and I don't necessarily think that that might be,
08:13I think, some noise is being put out there with intention a day before the draft.
08:17I know that's shocking, but it does happen, that I do think that puts the Browns in a
08:21very interesting position when you're talking about, do you go wide receiver, do you go
08:25offensive lineman with your first selection, and then wait to take the other?
08:29I think you're better off taking the lineman first than the receiver second, just because
08:32of the depth of the positions.
08:34I think it's deeper from a wide receiver standpoint than it is an offensive lineman standpoint.
08:40So, you know, there's a lot of flexibility at Andrew Berry's disposal right now, and I
08:47think I'm just as curious as everybody else as to what Berry's going to do with that.
08:52Yeah, no, definitely.
08:53I did want to ask you, you made a comment about Myles Garrett.
08:55You said whether this could be some sort of tell on what they think with Myles.
08:59What would tell you any tip-off with what they think about Myles?
09:04If they take a defensive end in the first round, which I think would be a left turn.
09:08I keep going back, you know, Berry kind of made the, he was being a little, I think,
09:13sarcastic when he said, hey, I always tell you guys the truth, and I don't know necessarily
09:17that's always the case, but I do think more often than not, he is pretty straightforward
09:22with things, and I do believe him when he says, hey, we're, you know, open for all ideas,
09:30we're not stuck on just drafting for need, we're about the best football players, et cetera,
09:36and I do think, my gut tells me we're going to get a left turn tomorrow.
09:41Look, last year I didn't think they were going to draft Mason Graham, they did, right?
09:44I was surprised by the Carson Schlesinger pick in the second round, they did that.
09:49I don't think anyone, I don't think there was a single mock draft that had that in there.
09:55So, I just, there's part of me that thinks Andrew Berry's going to just do the ultimate
10:01left turn on us tomorrow night, too.
10:03He loves it, I'm convinced he loves it.
10:05Darrell, we got to, he loves it, this one, my partner loves it, and he goes all Pepe
10:10Sylvia, the same way you do as well.
10:12The two of you should bond over that.
10:13So, we saw Shador yesterday, we saw Deshaun, we saw a little of, a little Dylan.
10:18We saw Dylan Gabriel, too, come on, give him his love.
10:20We saw both interceptions.
10:22It wasn't very good.
10:23So, I do want to know, though, how do you stack up those three quarterbacks right
10:26now, and like the gap between one and two and two and three?
10:32Well, I know Todd Malkin said yesterday, it's not a two-team race, or two-man race.
10:36It is.
10:37It's a two-and-a-half-man race.
10:40Todd, swing it out!
10:43It's true.
10:44Oh, I don't know that it deserved that.
10:48That gets really sensitive about Dylan Gabriel's short jokes.
10:52Here's the thing, because they're doing the installs, and it's really hard for me to pick
10:56apart the completions like some people are doing right now, because you're doing installs,
11:00you're working on stuff, not everything's going to look great in practice.
11:02That's just the way it is.
11:03I will say this, watching Deshaun yesterday, he did not look a guy coming off of a multiple
11:08rupture Achilles situation and a broken shoulder.
11:11He looked as I expected.
11:14He looked good in practice, and I anticipate that's going to continue.
11:19I think Shador looked pretty good.
11:21I think Shador, also, too, the energy around him, I think he feels a little more empowered
11:25with Todd Malkin.
11:27If you listen to some of the things Shador said after that press conference, he's not
11:31weeping for the loss of Kevin Stefanski, one iota.
11:33He really seems to have connected in a way with Todd Malkin and the new coaching staff in
11:39a way that he never did with Stefanski and the old coaching staff, and he even made the
11:42quip about, hey, what's different between this year and last year?
11:44He's like, well, first of all, I'm practicing more, which is true.
11:48He started that, getting the first team reps of the offseason.
11:52So I think this is, I don't know if they're going to get this thing settled, though, by
11:56training camp.
11:56I know that's something that Malkin wants to do.
11:59I'm not convinced they're going to have a starting quarterback.
12:01I just said that at 5.55.
12:02I know you didn't hear it, but I had the same thought.
12:04I don't know how they can possibly get to a conclusion or an answer.
12:09If they're going to be truthful about it, and they're going to really try to go, and
12:11I use a lot of this based off of...
12:12You're really going to go through an offseason program where there's nothing real live other
12:16than some 11-on-11 stuff during mandatory minicamp in June?
12:21Unless it's not a truthful quarterback competition.
12:23And that's the only hang-up we have to have, is that if the game is rigged from the start,
12:27then okay, they'll have this decided by...
12:29Well, the game was rigged last year from the start.
12:30Shador was never a part of it.
12:32Which is why I'm always alerted to all these problems that could arise within the discussion.
12:37It's because we saw it last year.
12:39We saw when the game got stacked in one person's favor.
12:42And so it's something the Browns do.
12:44We have to be wary of that.
12:46Now, did you see it the same way that Coach Riz did yesterday?
12:48I read some of his reports on Deshaun.
12:51I want to see if you agree with it or not.
12:53He said the arm talent's still elite.
12:56Ball jumps out of his hand.
12:57A to B, it's different.
12:59And then Watson looked really good.
13:01Good, healthy, fit, fully back after the shoulder and Achilles injuries.
13:04But the A to B, it's different.
13:05And the arm talent's still elite thing stuck out to me.
13:08Yeah.
13:09I don't know if I would use the word elite, but the, I mean, the throws were pretty.
13:16Not going to lie.
13:16I mean, I go back to the first practice of Deshaun with the Browns after they made that blockbuster trade.
13:23And we're all ooh-ing and ah-ing over the deep balls over the shoulder and that.
13:27And it's because we're just not used to seeing that in a Browns practice where it's a tight spiral thrown
13:31right in the right spot 50 yards down the field.
13:34Those are things that we just don't get in practices watching Browns quarterbacks over the years.
13:39So he did look really, really good throwing the ball.
13:42Yeah, I agree with most of what Coach Riz said there.
13:45I'm going to hold off on the elite thing just yet.
13:48But it was as I expected, and I will continue to expect, that he is going to look like the
13:56best quarterback in practice because of his experience.
13:59He's been through all this offseason nonsense multiple times.
14:02So I think he's going to look like the best quarterback.
14:05Question is, can Shador really show the growth that the organization is looking for him, both on the field as
14:12well as off of it?
14:13All right, we started with lock it in.
14:15We're going to end with lock it in.
14:17Cav sweep.
14:18Can I get you to lock it in?
14:19No.
14:20You two are cowards.
14:22We're not cowards.
14:23We've watched too much of the NBA to ever say sweep.
14:25You've watched the first two games of this series.
14:27Did you just watch the last 48 hours of the NBA?
14:30Oh, general NBA takes specific to this Cavs team.
14:32I reject both of them.
14:34Okay.
14:35I say Cavs in five, and if they sweep, I'll give you your mad props.
14:38How about this?
14:39You know what?
14:39I'll go, shocker, Cavs, sweep, Raptors.
14:43How about this?
14:43Let's put a burger on it.
14:46Look at you trying to get free food out of me all of a sudden.
14:49Oh, free food.
14:49I thought you were very confident in your betting.
14:52Fine.
14:53You know what?
14:54You got it.
14:54Look at that.
14:55Because you know what?
14:55We're going to be even at the end of the year when you got to buy me a burger in
14:59teasers
14:59when the Browns are eliminated from the playoffs by October.
15:02You're going to be so pissed when you have to buy me two burgers, and they're both because
15:06There's no way they're making the playoffs this year.
15:08Oh, get ready for it, big girl.
15:09Come on now.
15:10Big girl?
15:11What?
15:12I tried it.
15:13I tried it.
15:13It didn't work.
15:14No.
15:16It's like the big dipper, little dipper thing earlier.
15:18You stick and move.
15:20You can call me a lot of things.
15:21I got to draw the line at big girl, though.
15:23That's fair.
15:24He said it was a miss.
15:26You know what, guys?
15:28Nothing else he can do.
15:29I own that.
15:29Nothing else he can do at this point.
15:31Oh, yep.
15:32There.
15:33Slap the chest.
15:33All right.
15:34All right.
15:35Daryl?
15:37It's a really awkward way to end it.
15:39Thank you for stopping by, buddy.
15:40I'll get your order soon.
15:42All right, big girl.
15:45How'd you go back for a sequel?
15:48I don't know.
15:49Because he was so stupid the first time.
15:50So bad the first time went on twice.
15:52So, by the way, I'd like to point out, my Dylan Gabriel voice got the wah-wah.
15:56I know, yeah.
15:57Me calling him big girl twice didn't get the wah-wah.
16:00Just so we're saying.
16:01Yeah, the awkward silence took care of that for you.
16:03If I said, oh, big girl, then it would have been a problem.
16:06Hey, do your Cosby for Daryl.
16:07No, you did the Cosby.
16:09Is that right?
16:10With the blood and bops.
16:11You did the Cosby.
16:12Sounds like you're the one doing the Cosby.
16:15Before he was problematic.
16:17Yeah.
16:18Yeah, it was bad.
16:18Back when he just liked Jell-O.
16:20Yeah.
