00:00What did you think of yesterday? What you saw?
00:03I thought the big story, I know a lot was made of the conversations that were had,
00:08whether it was Munkin, whether it was Shador, who had a lot of interesting things to say,
00:13and the way he goes about, you know, addressing the media and talking positivity and those good vibes.
00:19I thought the story yesterday, and maybe it's just because my mind did not allow myself to ever think we
00:25were going to see this again.
00:27It was crazy to me seeing Deshaun Watson running around and seem to be testing, you know,
00:34the surgically repaired legs, ankles, Achilles, everything, lower body, extremities.
00:41Like to see him just running around and looking like Deshaun Watson.
00:44I know it's practice. Yeah, that's what it is for 32 NFL teams.
00:47Not even really a practice, whatever you want to call it.
00:50Were they going live? Was there some live elements to yesterday's 7-on-7, 11-on-11?
00:56I don't know if they're allowed to go live.
00:57But it was just something, for whatever reason, that I just assumed would never happen again.
01:05I never thought I'd see Deshaun Watson in a Browns uniform, cutting, spinning, doing pirouettes, throwing the ball.
01:14I know that you'd probably be like, why didn't you expect to see that again?
01:17Just because I had erased it from my mind. I didn't think I'd ever see it again.
01:19No, we were sitting there. Well, I mean, honestly, I can't blame you for that.
01:22I can't say you were silly or naive or anything.
01:25You know, we're sitting here talking about insurance policy payouts last year.
01:28I mean, we're talking like Lloyd's of London, like it's Kurt Hanning or something like that.
01:33Like, it was wild.
01:35So, to say that you were surprised, you're not naive.
01:38I think some people are like, I can't believe we're still here with this.
01:41I can't believe we're still doing this.
01:42I just think the thing that I do disagree with some people, it's not about the money payoff.
01:47You know, they're not, they're just, everything is different from where you're at in Cincinnati down there.
01:54Like, Mike Brown would make him play it out because of the money.
01:58They don't care.
01:59They do not care about the money.
02:01They're looking at it from a position of, they just don't want to take the cap hit.
02:06It's not about what they're paying him.
02:07They're just going to give him the crack at it just to see.
02:10And honestly, I think there's a lot of things that could come of it if he were to go out
02:14and play reasonably well this year.
02:16But there's also the competition issue of it.
02:20I want Shador Sanders.
02:22If it's the argument between the two, like, yeah, I want Shador Sanders to start.
02:27But I'm not going to sit there and deny better football.
02:30Like, I think some people have gotten this mixed up.
02:32I'm not going to deny the better football player if the better football player deserves to play.
02:36Okay?
02:36So if Deshaun Watson goes out there and looks better, where, like, Shador had the 11-on-11 reps, then
02:43Deshaun had the 7-on-7 reps with Bajakian was the one who made the call, the quarterback coach, on
02:51who takes what reps.
02:52And I guess they're going to fluctuate and change that up according to what Todd Munkanen said yesterday after practice.
02:59If Deshaun Watson ends up starting, I'll accept it.
03:03I'll accept it.
03:04I don't think it's this great story or anything like that because he's still got to go out there and
03:08he's still got to play.
03:09And also, I don't think a lot of fans want to see him.
03:12I don't.
03:14But I'm not going to make him out to be some evil villain or anything like that.
03:17I think the time has passed and we're seeing whether or not he's got anything.
03:21All I think he represents is a lost era of Browns football that could have been a really great era
03:25of Browns football.
03:26Had people, and that includes the guy who used to be here, not talking about the head coach, by the
03:30way, the guy down in Tampa Bay,
03:31had everybody just calmed their heads for a second and realized what was at stake here, Browns, Baker, coaching, everybody,
03:40we wouldn't have been in this mess.
03:42We wouldn't have been sitting here reading the comments to the Browns social media when they showed Deshaun Watson completing
03:47a pass and seeing the overwhelming negativity from the fan base.
03:52Well, where my mind went to immediately after seeing that yesterday was, is this going to be a real uphill
03:58battle for Shador to unseat him?
04:00I think it might very well be, and I'll tell you why in a second.
04:03Because, like, you're right.
04:04You've been saying all along, Ty goes to the runner.
04:06Ty goes to the younger quarterback.
04:08For me.
04:08For me, not for them.
04:10I think for most fans, right?
04:11Yes.
04:12Like, it's Shador.
04:13And that makes sense.
04:14That's logical.
04:15Why, after we've ruined so many years, we have counted down the days to the end of Deshaun Watson,
04:24now we're going to prolong it if Watson goes out there and plays even average football?
04:28Like, now we're going to sign him to an extension, and now we're not going to go back into the
04:32draft next year?
04:32Like, it just complicates things to such an extent where it makes sense for the tie to go to the
04:36runner.
04:37No.
04:37But what I'm saying is, how is Shador going to even get there to tie it?
04:41Like, because think of how monumentally tough this is going to be for Shador.
04:45You're physically not on the same level as Deshaun.
04:49We know that.
04:50Even Deshaun after the surgeries and the injuries, like, I say his arm looked fine.
04:54I know, again, he's not playing against real defenses, but just in terms of zip on the ball, like, his
04:59arm looked fine.
05:00Oh, we're doing the zip.
05:01Okay?
05:01Oh, I saw a bunch of people.
05:02We're doing the zip.
05:03Yeah, I saw a bunch of people yesterday commenting on that saying, whoa, whoa.
05:07Oh, Deshaun looks like that shoulder, which was the, obviously, the much earlier injury.
05:13His shoulder looked fine.
05:15So, if he's able to do that.
05:16Now, we don't know, again, absorbing hits, and once he's out there on the field, it's a totally different animal.
05:20I get that.
05:22But a lot of this is going to be these settings and impressing the coaches.
05:26And then the other element of it that I continue to go back to is how many offensive coordinators has
05:32Deshaun Watson had to learn from under?
05:35And how many different playbooks has he had to absorb that stuff and in a quick amount of time every
05:40single offseason?
05:42So, just by sheer nature of him being the more experienced guy who's been around the league a lot longer
05:49and had all those different coaches to have to learn from, like, that's just going to put him so far
05:55ahead.
05:56How is Shador going to eat away at that lead?
05:59That's the issue.
06:01Because I think with the fans, I mean, I genuinely ask the fans, you know, are you out on the
06:06Browns if they start Watson this year?
06:08I think a lot of fans might say yes right now, but I think a lot of fans – and
06:13I don't think a lot of fans will come around.
06:14I think a lot of fans will just go, oh, God, here we go.
06:17Another year, maybe another wasted year.
06:20You'll watch because it's the Browns.
06:22It might be tradition.
06:23You might just be out on them earlier if they struggle with Deshaun Watson.
06:28I think for the fans, the tie goes to Shador.
06:30I think for me, and I'm a fan too, the tie goes to Shador.
06:33I think for ownership, the tie goes to Shador.
06:36If it's close, it goes to Shador.
06:38I don't think they want fans saying nasty things on their social media and sending in nasty messages and all
06:45those things about Deshaun Watson.
06:46I don't think they want to do that.
06:48But I think that Todd Munkin, you don't – you're not from here.
06:54This is your one crack.
06:56What are you going to do?
06:57Are you going to try to appease Kenny Carman on the radio and all the people that don't want to
07:02see Deshaun Watson because they want to see Shador?
07:04Really, we're – I got to be honest with you.
07:06I don't think either one of these guys are going to be quarterback in 2027, so I can't get that
07:10passionate about it.
07:11But I think I'd rather see a guy have a chance like Shador Sanders than Deshaun Watson.
07:16But Todd Munkin don't care about Kenny Carman or Anthony Lima or Owen or John or any listener out there.
07:22He cares about his 52 other guys, and if he feels that Deshaun Watson is going to give them a
07:27better chance, then damn it, he's got to do it.
07:29And I got to tell you, I have to support that because he's supposed to be the football coach of
07:33the team.
07:34I may not want to see it, but I have to accept it.
07:36See, there's a difference.
07:37If Deshaun Watson goes out there and he looks like garbage, I could say, Shador ain't any worse than this.
07:45This is hot garbage.
07:47But if he goes out there and conducts himself any bit decently, with any decency as a quarterback, I got
07:54to look at it and go, yeah, the football coach made the right football decision.
07:57It's something I might not like, but I don't know if I can disagree with.
08:02And you got to hear my words very clearly.
08:04I'm not there every single day.
08:06I'll be there as much as I possibly can.
08:08But I'm not there every single day.
08:10The fans aren't there every single day.
08:12I'm not in the meetings.
08:13I'm not in the private moments.
08:14I'm not there.
08:15Todd is.
08:15So if he sees that and he believes that Deshaun Watson has to do it, I have to accept it
08:20until Deshaun Watson goes out there and sucks up the room.
08:23And he has in the past, and there's nothing to tell me he won't right now.
08:26But I have to accept it until it is.
08:27And the only way I can go after Todd Munkett on this is if Shador were to play after Deshaun
08:33and Shador were to look great.
08:34That's the only way I can do it.
08:36We are in a tough spot right now because I think, again, and people didn't want to hear this, if
08:42it were still the status quo, and I know that they don't want to hear it, and they still will
08:46never want to because they don't want to understand it.
08:49If Kevin were still head coach, you'd just go with Shador.
08:53It's the status quo.
08:54He just went with the flow on a lot of things.
08:56Nobody would be happy about it.
08:58It would be another lame duck year.
09:00It would be another uninspiring year, I have to admit.
09:02But he would just go with it.
09:04But now you have a coach that's in there, and it's this one crack.
09:07He's 60 years old.
09:09He is going to do what he believes is necessary to win football games and give him every chance.
09:14And could it all boil down to that joint practice against the Bills?
09:18Is that because we talk about preseason games or a little weird, but the joint practice is where it seems
09:25like we learn the most about our teams, our Browns team, every year.
09:30Here's Todd Munkin, the Munkin man.
09:32He was impressed by all the QBs yesterday.
09:35Well, I thought they were in command.
09:36I never felt at one time like they were lost.
09:39I thought all the work they put in, you know, the last couple of weeks leading up to today, Coach
09:44Pajekin did a great job with them, prepping them.
09:47Coach Baker, Ian, those guys with the quarterbacks to prep them.
09:51Everything from the meeting rooms, again, to the walks to here today.
09:54To me, that's the start of it.
09:55The start of it is how we function, how they lead.
09:57Is there a belief system in who has the ball in their hands every play?
10:02Todd Munkin went on.
10:03He did explain, and this is key, and I want to play this for everybody.
10:06He did explain about the QB reps and Shadour being up first and everything there.
10:10Listen closely.
10:11He was first man up.
10:12I knew it was coming.
10:13Didn't know who was going to ask it, but I knew it was coming.
10:15We were just rotating who was first reps.
10:18Shadour to start, there were some other reps.
10:20The way it was going to turn out, Shadour was going to get more reps.
10:23Some of it in Pasquale, some of it in team.
10:25A couple of the team periods were slowed down ACT, more run than they were throw.
10:31So it was set up in a way for us to get a look at all of them.
10:35The plan was to have Shadour have a few more reps, but to let Deshaun and Shadour both have reps
10:40with the ones.
10:41Each day we're going to change that to get a look at our guys.
10:43We have three days to get a great look at those guys, and it's awesome to be able to get
10:47these extra three days.
10:49So it is a big deal for the QBs to be there.
10:51I know we've made a big deal about other people and whether or not they should be there, and we'll
10:54talk about that.
10:55Do you care, Kenny, how they divide the reps at all?
10:58This to me was so funny to see people get worked up about this, and I'm like, it's day one.
11:02You don't think they're going to level things out over time because they want to see both of these guys
11:09in every different scenario?
11:11This did not register to me as some big, outrageous, oh, no, Shadour is starting.
11:18Oh, no, it actually looked like Deshaun might have gotten more.
11:22Guys, if you're going to be doing this day one, I don't think you're going to make it through the
11:26end of camp.
11:27Anthony, they're going to do it.
11:30They're going to do it.
11:31This is all going to happen again.
11:33The best was yesterday.
11:34Cam Justice.
11:36Cam Justice.
11:37Cam Justice put up her world-famous compilations of every throw of both quarterbacks.
11:45She does such a terrific job, and I know everybody's doing their best to chart this and that.
11:49Cam put that out there, and she had to respond.
11:52She quote-tweeted one of the dudes who was like, why are you only showing the good stuff for Deshaun?
11:58I'm like, man, you guys aren't going to make it.
12:00You're not going to make it.
12:02This isn't for you.
12:04Life and death by camp rep.
12:07I'm just warning all of you.
12:09Get ready to go again.
12:11You better see your cardiologist.
12:13I don't think you're going to make it through camp.
12:16I'm struggling to admit something here.
12:21I want to talk to real Browns fans here, not the internet, okay?
12:25I want to talk to the guy who's on 480, the lady who's leaving to get on 90 to go
12:30through construction,
12:31which he'll be going through for the next 10 years.
12:35You guys know what this is probably going to be.
12:40I mean, we are going to sit here, and we are going to chew the fat on this.
12:44And I'm not going to admit this often, because I want them to win, and I want to be passionate
12:48about it.
12:50Does anybody really think that either of these guys are going to be quarterback in 2027?
12:55Does anybody?
12:56Yeah, I mean, if I had money that I was actually going to bet on it, I would not bet.
13:01Exactly.
13:01Everything I want to do, I want to do it with passion, and I don't want to go through motions.
13:07But, man, I sit here and I look at this, and I'm starting to read the same old, same old
13:12that we went through already last year.
13:14And we're going to do the whole counting reps, and we're going to do the completions, and all that other
13:19crap that doesn't matter.
13:22And I'm telling you, I think that 90% of Browns fans out there who were Browns fans before and
13:29going to be Browns fans after are just sitting there going, yeah, get me to the draft next year.
13:34Because I think that they look at this as a giant, I don't want to call it a waste of
13:38time, but I don't know what else to call it.
13:40I think this is just a placeholder season until we get to the next quarterback.
13:45I hope I'm wrong.
13:46I want Shador to win the job because I want to see somebody that has a chance to be the
13:51future of this franchise.
13:52The other guy doesn't have a chance to be a future of this franchise.
13:55That's why, like, I don't want my time wasted.
13:57I don't want Browns fans time wasted.
13:59If Shador goes out there, he might suck up the room for crying out loud.
14:03There were a couple of silly passes last year, but at least he has a chance to be the future.
14:06The other guy has no chance to be the future.
14:08What are they going to do?
14:08Are they going to sign him a great big deal?
14:10Are we going to put him back up on billboards and things like that?
14:13Do you believe he's going to play well?
14:14Because you've got to believe he's going to play well enough to do those things.
14:17And if he does, do you think he wants to be here?
14:20How many people think he wants to be here?
14:22Yeah, he likes it here.
14:24How many people?
14:25I never see him here.
14:27Bingo.
14:27Well, you saw him at the Cavs game.
14:29Yes, he was front and center.
14:31I'm not trying to be nasty about it.
14:33I'm not trying to be mean.
14:35I'm not even trying to push an agenda.
14:37I'm just being honest and asking questions.
14:39Like, Shador, say what you want, and you guys have said a lot of things.
14:43He seems to genuinely like the people here.
14:46He seems to genuinely like it.
14:48So I'm going, if you can harness something with him and his talent, maybe you do have a crack at
14:53it.
14:54But if you go with the other guy, fans don't want to see him.
14:58He don't want to be here.
14:59And if he shows anything that's positive, I think that guy's going to try to get out of here on
15:03the first thing smoking.
15:06And so I got to say what I think is going to be worth it for the future of our
15:11fan base.
15:12And it's either A, the young guy, talking about Shador, not Dylan Gabriel, no offense.
15:18I know they've said some things.
15:19I think probably it's best for all parties involved that he get traded.
15:23Give him a fresh start.
15:24It's been a rough place for him.
15:26I got nothing against the young man.
15:29But when it comes to Shador, if it works out great, if it doesn't, see at the draft next year.
15:33I don't know where it's at next year.
15:35See at the draft next year.
15:36Because that's where we're at right now.
15:38But when it comes to Watson, it just brings up all the things of what could have been for this
15:42football team.
15:43That ain't it.
15:44And if he does do well, you know the conversation is going to be, well, are they going to sign
15:47him?
15:48Do you want to sign him?
15:48Do you trust him to be signed to another contract?
15:50Do you really want him?
15:51Or is he going to even want to sign a contract?
15:53I'm trying to think of how well he would have to play and where in the ranking of NFL quarterbacks
15:59he would have to be by the numbers that I tend to obsess on.
16:04How high would he have to be?
16:06Would he have to be like the sixth or seventh best quarterback in the NFL for me to even begin
16:12to think about an extension?
16:14Oh, yeah.
16:14I think he'd have to be easily top five.
16:17He'd have to be in the AFC Championship game to even talk about an extension.
16:21That would probably put, yeah.
16:23They're still going to ride that one last year of not having to pay him or pay him on a
16:29rookie scale.
16:30Uh-huh.
16:32You know what?
16:32Maybe he'll pull a Jose Ramirez.
16:35Maybe we'll get a hometown discount from Deshaun Watson.
16:39You know what?
16:39He would definitely owe it to you now, wouldn't he?
16:41After everything that's been put out there.
16:43He'd have to pay us money.
16:44For all the fans.
16:45That's the discount.
16:462-1-6-4-7-4-00-92.
16:48No, I look at it and I go, guys, a lot of this has been set up to get us
16:53to 2027.
16:54A lot of this has been set up to get us to another draft class.
16:57And the only person that I think makes this season really truly, that has a chance to make this season
17:03really, truly worthwhile would be number two.
17:07Formerly number 12.
17:08Because number four has its own set of circumstances there that we have to sit there and dissect and there's
17:15innuendo.
17:16If the other guy plays and he plays well, I ain't got to worry about it.
17:19He'll play here in 2027.
17:20But if the other guy plays and plays well, talking about Deshaun, well, you got yourself a whole cornucopia of
17:27conversation now, don't you?
17:28And none of it's very positive.
