00:16just an absolute jamoke show by toronto yeah yeah last night kudos kudos to the raptors for for
00:22fighting some defensive intensity and i did find last night's playoff win by the calves to be more
00:28impressive than game one because you like previous iterations of the cavaliers that is a game that i
00:35don't think they win so what's interesting is that i listened to a couple of the raptors beat reporters
00:38and they were making the suggestion that uh that's a game that the raptors typically would win by the
00:42way like you think about it and if you just lay out the context of it raptors won the rebounding
00:46battle
00:47raptors won the points in the paint raptors had more points off the bench like the raptors did a
00:51lot of things that typically would win you games the one thing they didn't do though nick was that
00:55brandon ingram played basketball at a high level and like that truly is the difference in that game
00:59so shout out dean wade for the job that he did on brandon ingram because i think that matters in

01:03great deal in this conversation but ultimately what last night was about was the three big stars playing
01:08like three big stars for the winning goal yeah and it's interesting uh the the first two games they
01:14get jarrett going early and then jarrett kind of falls to the wayside offensively evan kind of starts
01:20taking over and then you just get a great mix of harden and and mitchell and i thought what was
01:25really important last night it's so funny because we've we've come to expect this donovan making the
01:31decision hey i'm gonna put this game away with about four minutes to go and i'm gonna just lengthen
01:37this this lead that we have i thought was really great well once it got down to six uh and
01:41that was
01:42it got down to six with about five and a half left and then you fast forward two minutes later
01:45and
01:45you're up by double digits and that's the donovan effect that you're talking about right there like that
01:49was uh the display that the calves had with donovan understanding the moments and i i mentioned
01:54this with harden with game one that idea of like understanding when you needed the three when you
01:58needed uh to actually insert himself it's just it's just a job well done all the way around now this
02:02does beg the question are you ready to call the series over oh yeah i would i would have called
02:08the
02:08series over after game one uh i there's no part of me i like all i called the series over
02:12before it
02:12happened but game one was reaffirming what was different about game two for the raptors
02:17you saw i mean they they basically they moved off a couple of their different starters and moved
02:22off a couple things they did uh jacob porto was just not well the cmb was everywhere and like you
02:28saw uh they didn't they didn't start him at all in the second half of that game like they legitimately
02:33made some roster changes like they're throwing they're throwing everything in the kitchen sink at
02:37the calves and the calves are just responding the right way i i toronto's kind of out of answers well
02:41and yeah i mean their answer was we have to really ratchet up the defensive pressure and use our
02:46length on the perimeter to make you know to impact passing lanes to really make people uncomfortable
02:51on the offensive side then it went smaller though with cmb and then they like they and he's not small
02:55but relatively to portal like there was like they they tried mixing it up and there was that small
02:59lineup that they kept referencing in the broadcast that they were going towards like like they were they
03:03were trying everything they just had no answers well but no they it worked a little bit i mean you
03:07got back
03:07into the game what was so encouraging from the calves side of things is that it just didn't matter
03:12like like you were they were doing a good job defensive intensity wise they were doing a fine job they
03:19got back into a game that that felt like i know it's like seven points at half it felt like
03:24that was
03:24on the precipice of turning into another blowout and it didn't matter like their best punch didn't land
03:31and that is kudos to the cavaliers and i not only is the series over i think the the sweep
03:39crowd i think
03:40you're going to get what you want here i know i know game three is always uh well it's the
03:45first time you go
03:45up to the great white north it's the first time you're on the road i get that uh with love
03:50and respect to the
03:51toronto raptors with love and respect to we in the north this thing should be over two more times well
03:56and so i but i think
03:57where some some people are hesitant obviously is the idea of what you just would know what you just
04:00watched last night in the nba i think is another reason uh for why you can look at it and
04:04say well
04:05okay what a sweep is just so incredibly hard nuggets lost last night to minnesota you had that nicks
04:10game just an absolute collapse cj mccullum going off like yeah but those are other series this is this
04:15series in this series tell me why the raptors are going to steal a game from i don't think they're
04:19going to steal a game but like this is the nba like a game happens here and there like that's
04:23why i think
04:23it's kind of how it works oh well you know it's very hard to get a sweep thank you mr

04:28i'm not talking to you by the way i'm talking to other people no no i got i got i

04:33watching the nba at my and my experience in this to tell you like if you're the person that says

04:38sweep is just that's just not reality they literally just swept last year yeah and i brought that up
04:42yesterday and i what a weird thing that was because you don't see teams just dominate by 30 40 points
04:47that way like that's not that typically how it works there's a reason why the calves were complaining
04:51about the foul calls after the game and donovan was talking about i went to the line for he shot
04:54one free throw all day long like there's a reason why they're doing that like the nba it's a distrust
05:00in the nba it's got nothing to do with the calves the distrust in the nba and how these series
05:03work
05:04uh that that's that's why you tend to think these games go longer than they should if the series
05:08go longer than they should it's got nothing to do with the calves yeah but the calves are going to
05:11sweep and that that should be the expectations from here i'm not going to hammer them if they don't by
05:16the way it'd be weird if you did but uh but yeah this is that should be the expectation here
05:20toronto gave you a real fight in the second half yesterday and it never i mean again like in the
05:27nba six point games do feel close because we watch a lot of regular season basketball around these
05:33parts game it's a game of runs and they were just on the better end of their own run is
05:36all that
05:36really was but like i think toronto gave you their best punch in the second half and i think i
05:42think
05:42that's going to be a special level of dispiriting that they gave you that intensity they gave you they
05:47were clogging up passing lanes you could tell that the calves were a little uncomfortable uh even even
05:53harden and donovan had some sloppier plays than we're used to and it still didn't matter and it
05:58still really never felt like the game was in jeopardy the point is no the game was never in
06:01jeopardy the point is is that for those that wanted their wish of thursday night to be focused on the
06:05draft you got that wish answered last night like last night is going to let you just sigh and breathe
06:11easy it could be tv number two the second option that you have or maybe tv one for yourself because
06:16the draft has 10 minutes in between you decide uh but ultimately big drafts the the tv there yeah like
06:21we have a 54 hour countdown on espn right now there's a countdown clock 54 hours from now that they're
06:26doing on all their shows uh don't hate it and it's like yeah give it to me yeah give me
06:31the clock
06:31it's what people give me the what give me the clock oh good okay good yeah uh but it's like
06:35it's what
06:35people care about and so like if you if you want to ignore game three i mean i just put
06:41the second
06:41tv on that's fine too uh then that's the table it's all there for you there's nothing else we're
06:45going to possibly learn from this series i would imagine or nothing else we're going to be able to
06:49take over the the series is for all intents and purposes done even if the raptors end up sniping
06:53we will give more props as the show goes on right and more elaborate uh props here so i've already
06:59given props to donovan i do think kenny atkinson rolling with a deeper bench i think is smart
07:04because again the raptors just aren't in your in your wheelhouse in any way and then we got to
07:10give props to james harden for last night we got to give props basically went down to nine last
07:15night he started off game one with 10 and now he basically went down to nine last night and so

07:18he's he's shortening it but what he's trying to do is audition the other parts to find out who
07:22exactly is going to be there and who isn't going to be there but props abound for everybody is
07:26there anybody that we haven't given props to for last night's game that we should have no i mean i
07:30think it's uh it's a it i don't know uh pats on the back sponge baths for everyone i don't

07:37what to tell you are you giving him a sponge bath i'm not a sponge bath guy it's just a
07:41term of
07:41expression you know like people if it's like uh if we're just gonna you know just if we want to
07:45just talk glowingly about everything we can just sponge bathe the team uh and yeah that's what that
07:49is i mean there are you a sponge bath guy i'm not gonna turn one down depending on who's offering
07:55but am i gonna give somebody a sponge bath not likely for a lot of people it feels good and
07:58that's kind of where we're at with the calves right now like i what am i supposed to there's
