00:00I kind of came to my conclusion as to what I want yesterday.
00:03Oh.
00:04And I'm going to save it for tomorrow.
00:05Oh, what are you doing?
00:07Come on, you can't do that to us.
00:09Well, I just did.
00:10Well, that sucks.
00:11That's what I'm going to do.
00:13Tomorrow we're going to talk about exactly what we want.
00:17Man.
00:17And how we want them to do it.
00:19So I do have a specific in mind.
00:24How could you do that to us?
00:25Easy.
00:26I just said it and there it is.
00:28I don't know.
00:29It makes tomorrow's show just riveting, doesn't it?
00:31Am I wrong for doing that, though?
00:33For trying to just make sure I'm not.
00:35The book holds in, guys?
00:36Well, I just don't want to look at it and say, okay, I want this because of Ohio State.
00:40I want to ask this gentleman.
00:41All right, we'll do that.
00:41We'll go to the Make It Right Call Kyle Right hotline.
00:43He is in Pittsburgh already.
00:46You may remember him from his days in Cincinnati.
00:48I know him all the time now from watching him and enjoying his college football coverage.
00:52He is David Pollack.
00:54David, how are you today?
00:55Hello, David.
00:56I'm doing great, fellas.
00:57How y'all doing?
00:57We are doing really well.
00:58So you're already in Pittsburgh, right?
01:00You're all set?
01:01Oh, we're here, baby.
01:02We have PNC headquarters.
01:03We've got the taste of the draft.
01:05Like, yeah, we're throwing down, man.
01:07What kind of food are we looking at here?
01:09I mean, I love football, but, man, I love food even more.
01:11All of a sudden, the food becomes the topic.
01:12Yeah.
01:13Are we doing steaks?
01:14What are we doing here?
01:14I'm not going to tell you.
01:15I'm not going to tell you because you'd be jealous.
01:18Like, the sandwiches that I'm looking at behind me and the food that's all around.
01:22If you love food, then you're missing out, man.
01:25You're missing out.
01:26That's all I'll say.
01:27That's not too far of a drive.
01:28I mean, we'll probably be there in less than an hour and a half.
01:30Jeff, are we ready to roll after this thing?
01:32Andy doesn't have credentials, David.
01:34He's not kidding.
01:34I don't.
01:35David, could you sneak us in before we get down there?
01:38I'll sneak you in, guys.
01:39I got your back.
01:39All right.
01:40Or do we got to know somebody at PNC to get into that taste of the draft?
01:44Yeah, me.
01:45You're good.
01:49All right.
01:49Well, we are excited.
01:50We're also trying to figure out what the Browns are going to do here at six.
01:53So, somebody said something to me yesterday and just made sense.
01:58Mendoza at one, and then who knows what's going to happen after that.
02:01Is that the way you're looking at it?
02:03Yeah, I think that's the only given in the draft.
02:05I think the given is we know Mendoza's one.
02:07I know that the pass rushers, too.
02:10I think it's going to be Bailey or it's going to be Reese at two.
02:14But I know it's going to be defense.
02:16And then, you know, the Browns obviously at six and 24.
02:19It's a pretty good spot to be in.
02:21And it's pretty clear, is it not?
02:23Like, I don't live in Cleveland, but it's very clear that offensively it needs work.
02:28And it's very clear that defense carries the load.
02:31And that's why Todd Munkin's there, right?
02:33And so, I think when you look at the offensive side of the football,
02:37I think you have a chance to get a weapon at six.
02:39And this is a deep class.
02:41There is a lot of weapons, man.
02:42Whether it's Tate, whether it's Lemon, whether it's Tyson.
02:45Like, we could go down the list.
02:46There's tons of weapons that you can throw to a wide receiver room, by the way,
02:50that was the least productive in the NFL.
02:52So, that's a guy you need to get at six.
02:54And then at 24, I think you can swing back and get, you know, Freeling or Proctor or Fonu.
02:59You get your offensive tackle that you're looking to get.
03:01Because the offense has been really, really bad.
03:05And they need to find some consistency.
03:07And I know the quarterback situation is up and down.
03:10And you had Shador.
03:11You have Deshaun Watson coming back.
03:12But here's the thing, guys.
03:13If we get better around them and we have better protection on the offensive line
03:17and better receivers, at least it gives whoever it is a chance to be successful.
03:22David, I agree with what you're thinking about the wide receivers.
03:27I would think your top three guys, you tell me, Carnell, Tate, in any order,
03:31Carnell, Tate, Lemon, or Tyson.
03:36I think they have to end up with one of those three guys, do they not?
03:39You can't settle for the fourth, fifth, sixth best wide receiver
03:42when you have such a need as the Browns have at wide receiver.
03:47Well, yes, I agree.
03:48And if you have the sixth pick, you have the opportunity to do that.
03:51I will say this, man.
03:52There's also a lot of other good wide receivers in this class, too.
03:56So if you felt like you could move back and still get one of those guys,
03:59when does the wide receiver run start?
04:02Because you actually started at six, right?
04:05So is there four or five guys there?
04:07Does somebody want to come up and I get some more picks?
04:09Then so be it.
04:10And it kind of makes its decision for you.
04:12But, man, the wide receivers are really, really fun to watch.
04:15The weapons at wide receiver.
04:17And just like anything else, it's different styles, right?
04:19Because Tyson obviously has been banged up, but he's explosive as can be.
04:23Tate's a masterful guy that catches the jump ball.
04:27Like 85% contested catches.
04:29He's all about it.
04:30He makes it.
04:30He finds a way to get it done.
04:32But the list goes on about Omar Cooper, Jr., who's really good.
04:35Boston, who's really good.
04:36Like there's a lot of guys that are super talented out wide that can win
04:40and make plays.
04:42Hey, David, answer me this.
04:43Chris, what's it like to be waiting for your name to get called?
04:48I mean, you were the 17th pick in the first round when you were drafted.
04:51And I just – I wonder what the anxiety is.
04:54How do you stay cool?
04:55Like what goes through your mind when you're a player and you're sitting there
04:58waiting to see if your name is going to get called in that first round?
05:01It kind of sucks, to be honest.
05:03It's not fun because, like, you want your name called as soon as possible.
05:07You're competitive.
05:08If you see people at your position go and you're like, seriously, really?
05:12And I think just the fact that you have no control, guys,
05:15like less than zero control, you're just kind of along for the ride.
05:19It can be very frustrating.
05:21And then all of a sudden it hits you like a ton of bricks and you're like,
05:23let's go, you know, and you're jacked up.
05:25And then you're on a plane and you're flying somewhere else to go figure out
05:28where you're going to pick out houses and where you're going to live
05:30and who you're going to play for.
05:31So it's a roller coaster ride.
05:34But obviously, you know, this is a culmination for a lot of these kids
05:37since they were four years old, five years old, six years old.
05:41And so that's why you see tears, you know, on that stage with Goodell.
05:45And that's why you see, you know, chest bumps and bear hugs,
05:49like all the different types of reactions you get on draft day.
05:52David Pollack joining us, ESPN College football analyst.
05:56If you're the Browns and you need an offensive lineman,
05:59you need a left tackle, you signed a bunch of guys and traded for Titus Howard.
06:04Do you take a lineman who they say is a great right tackle,
06:09but you can also play inside and maybe play left?
06:12You went against those guys.
06:14Can you make that move?
06:15You absolutely can make that move.
06:17But when you've rotated eight left tackles in the last three years,
06:21eight, literally, like the factory of sadness.
06:24I mean, come on, man.
06:25Like we've got to do something better on the offensive line.
06:27Like you've got to find a way to have a plug-and-play guy.
06:32And I think you'll have that.
06:33But you can rotate.
06:34It will take time.
06:35It will take reps.
06:36But, you know, Freeling, Proctor, Fonu, Maui Noah, Blake Miller,
06:42those are all guys, man, that have a chance to play that
06:45and do that for you right away and improve what you have.
06:49And that's the most important part.
06:51And then I think the Munkin system is really, really good, man.
06:54Like he understands spacing.
06:56He understands how to create big plays.
06:59He's got great timing.
07:01Now, I'm sure you all have interviewed him and talked to him or you heard him.
07:04You can't play half of it because there's so many bleeps when Munkin talks.
07:09Yes.
07:09But he's intense.
07:11He's waited a long time for this moment.
07:13So I would be excited about those things.
07:15And then just give him another weapon and give him an offensive lineman.
07:19I think away we go.
07:21All right.
07:21Last question for you.
07:22Just give us the best food and taste of the draft presented by PNC Bank.
07:26Well, I haven't got to start it yet.
07:28So I'm excited to figure that out.
07:31If y'all would hush and stop asking questions, I'll go get some food.
07:35There's a lot of options.
07:36I think whoever you are, whatever you are, whatever you want.
07:39Like I'm looking beside me, and this is pretty good.
07:42I don't even know what you call that stack of a sandwich, but I see fries on it.
07:47I see roast beef.
07:49I see tomatoes.
07:50I see cheese.
07:51I see all kinds of stuff, man.
07:52Like, so that looks good.
07:54I'm sure y'all would get into that, but y'all can't because you're not here.
07:56You're not invited.
07:57Thanks.
07:58Oh, I thought you were going to hook us up.
07:59That's all that chili you had when you were playing in Cincinnati.
08:02It's warped your mind.
08:03All that skyline.
08:04Dude, my dad loved that.
08:06My dad, every time he came up, he's like, I'm going to skyline.
08:09I'm like, all right, dude, knock yourself out, Pat.
08:10I'm not.
08:12All right, David, we love watching it on TV, and good luck at the draft, and have fun at
08:16the Taste of the Draft presented by PNC Bank.
08:17Thanks, David.
08:18Thanks, David.
08:19All right, we'll talk to you soon.
08:21See you guys.
08:23David Pollack.
