00:00we do have to talk about a little bit of a i would say a stir that we caused yesterday

00:13did todd munkin did and when we got back to it at six o'clock i was surprised at how

00:20talked about it you lit the match and i just i just blew up about it yeah and so uh

00:26video got a lot of traction on social media i sure heard about it from certain people yeah and
00:33you know there was this almost defensiveness of deshaun watson um be it from somebody that worked
00:40with the browns or be it a random person on social media be it like a couple members from the
00:45browns
00:45beat and so we we double checked on this right yeah because again that was an opportunity for
00:51deshaun to act like he was in the quarterback race well typically in a quarterback room right
00:56you're gonna have three people in the quarterback room you'd have all three quarterbacks speak if
01:00it's quarterback day and the one day everyone's gonna have a chance to speak we want we kind of
01:03want to hear from the guy that might be the front runner and i think it would i think the
01:09pr side of
01:09this i think there are more people that are that are willing to be open to deshaun than maybe deshaun
01:16or even the browns might realize like i think there are people who because he hasn't seen the field in
01:20two years because we've seen other disasters for the last two years i think there are more people that
01:25are open to it i'm not but other people are yeah and so it just felt like a big missed

01:30well and again we always talk about with this why is it important that athletes speak it's important
01:33that they speak so that they can write their own narrative so we don't write it for them when you
01:37don't speak we write your narrative for you that's part of what this is and it's kind of an ongoing
01:42thing with deshaun that deshaun has really misplayed the per the human side of this when it comes to
01:49reaching out and extending an olive branch or building a relationship with browns fans with
01:54with the cleveland media i know he still has contacts in the national media um or on social
01:59media so it felt like just this ongoing thing of okay all right like just if i if i got

02:07and talk about you as a serious quarterback can you at least act like a serious quarterback and so we
02:12had a few people uh kind of go with us on social media about it so we double checked and
02:17it turns out
02:17that uh browns players won't be speaking the rest of of this week and the next time that browns
02:23veterans will be speaking in in front of the the media will be late may yeah so i i guess

02:32we can just should we just pencil it in we just wait to hear from late may deshaun watson because
02:36again i know that's exactly what we're supposed to do one of the very common responses was wow the
02:41browns like to stagger this well then stagger away stagger for a month from now yeah i think so
02:47there's what five weeks from now that sounds right to me as if by the way as if this isn't

02:51brand new regime that can't rewrite their own rules what this is what this clearly is is the idea that

03:14get to hear from deshaun tomorrow which by the way was the objective to begin with because i just
03:18wanted to hear from deshaun but now you're telling me it's a month from now oh no what the hell

03:22everyone talking about at the earliest yeah they might just continue to protect him for uh until we
03:28get to training camp i don't know like at some point we do have to speak we skipped it at
03:31some point
03:32you do have to talk to sean like at some point you have to face the music and get out
03:36in front of
03:37everybody and so like i it's it's it's embarrassing is what it is and i had so many people like

03:41browns decide who went yesterday with a bad job by the browns if they thought to themselves dylan
03:46gabriel and chador sanders those are the only two quarterbacks that we need to hear from how dense can
03:51you be to think that that was their response nick there's no way and there's no way they thought
03:56to themselves that's the only two people we want to hear from and it and it should be chance it

03:59be noted that the browns also are the ones telling everyone deshaun has a real chance at this job
04:07that matters and so and so again like i i do think it's important to note right now because
04:12and this goes beyond just yesterday not speaking and not you know when we're going to hear from
04:17deshaun i think it also opens a can of worms on whether maybe a june they already used up their
04:23post june ones right oh yeah all right so but my first thought was oh is this all a ruse

04:29know june 2nd is he actually going to get caught uh although if they've already used their post june
04:33one designations then there's nothing you can do about it unless you really just want to i don't
04:38know wait to some weird point and then cut him regardless mac i was going to say you can have

04:43you can cut somebody early and have the designation but it resets after june after june one yeah the
04:48designations are just to make sure you only get two you just have to wait at that okay so maybe

04:52on board and we don't realize it maybe if we don't hear from deshaun it at uh at mandatory
04:57minicamps maybe that doesn't make any sense because then why was he getting as many passes as
05:01chador sanders and with first team reps yesterday like you wouldn't waste those you wouldn't waste
05:06those on that i do not know like their their plan looks like it's very obvious their plan looks like
05:10it's going to be chador versus deshaun watson and if that's the case you're the you're you have a
05:14chance to be the starting quarterback we want to hear from you you you need you need to speak in
05:19those moments and then you don't get to just brush it off and say well no this is what we

05:23year and then tell us oh you'll hear from them a month from now that's insane well and listen don't
05:28forget we hadn't heard from chador sanders since like january it's all the way back in january yeah

05:54then that's one thing okay and that's what a lot of what we're discussing right but but the idea and
05:59people people are floating out there is the browns were the ones that decided well if that's the
06:03browns that decided that then the browns did a horrible job in deciding who gets to speak and who
06:06doesn't get to speak and by the way i don't believe you that that's how that went down i don't

06:10you in the slightest bit if you're a quarterback in the running name a quarterback in the running across
06:15the nfl that doesn't speak on the first day that they get a chance to everyone speaks so it is
06:21interesting um and i was actually talking off air about this with a few people that i you know i

06:29everybody i've had some conversations with people with the browns about deshaun and at least one of
06:35them was in person and every time you know i've made the point of being like there's a lot of
06:42coulds
06:42it's in the bounds of possibilities right when people have talked about this before this week
06:48there's been a lot of that of like it could happens which is not really a predictive thing
06:54anything could happen yeah exactly it's it's you could you could literally you could win the
06:57lottery tomorrow uh the browns could uh trade up for uh the number two pick they're not going to
07:03but they could they also could stand pat they by the way they could trade down they could they
07:09could take two offensive linemen it could take no offensive linemen it's on the table yeah many things
07:13are on the table including the table itself but you know when i when i when i've talked with anyone
07:18in person it it does feel like my stance which is i think it's chador's job to lose and then
07:25if
07:26chador i don't know what the thing that chador has to do to lose it or or not win it

07:31but it's like it's almost like yeah if we have to we'll go to deshaun but when you talk to

07:37like charles davis very well connected that's not the same vibe they're getting and i think that's
07:41really interesting i don't think it's an anti chador thing either though but it's got to be
07:45draped in it somewhere right like isn't isn't part of a if you have belief in deshaun watson at this
07:50point isn't a lot of that just a lack of belief in chador yeah and i think and i do

07:55are some people who have become very chadorian because they're anti deshaun watson that one i at
08:01least understand that one makes sense especially if you don't think for football reasons you just
08:04think the man sucks as a human and you're like all right chador we might not have seen eye to

08:08but i can't have deshaun being the quarterback okay that makes some sense to me i could also see
08:12though if a chador supporter and when i say chador supporter i'm more talking like in the media
08:19that they might see the the value of using deshaun and that contract and the fact that he literally
08:25can't go anywhere they could but they're not going to as a way to to keep chador motivated all off
08:31season long well yeah i mean think about it the idea that even yesterday in that practice they had he
08:35was splitting reps uh one got 16 throws one got 15 throws and those are really valuable reps that
08:41obviously i mean chador spent all off season talking about how valuable it'd be to get the
08:45spots with the number one so like yeah that's going to be a motivating tactic for sure it will be

08:49the the big question which is is is the race for for quarterback one a a close one uh who
08:58knows i might
08:58be wrong on this i don't think i am i really don't i think it's chador versus himself and then

09:05somehow chador loses in chador versus himself if they have no other option i think yeah that's
09:11the case in which deshaun watson starts week one sometimes i feel like i'm taking crazy pills when
09:15i don't even think it's close i i think it's like a 85 15 90 10 type situation but then

09:22like charles davis come on and they're they're talking in a way that it's almost like it's certain
09:26that it's going to be deshaun watson and it's like where do you get this from yeah and it's funny

09:36that contract you know charles is like well i would have moved on i think that's easier to say
09:41when you don't have to eat the dead cap space or deal with the cap you know whatever for sure

09:47that's the other side of this is that for the the best response anybody has for me and why they
09:51think deshaun will play is the idea that they think has them wants to get blood from a stone like
09:55has them needs to get something out of the 46 million dollars that he's paying for deshaun
09:59watson to be a quarterback and my response back to that would be one of your lines you use all

10:03time you don't have to like you really don't have to there's like there's money already spent
10:07it's not as if you're spending future money attached to this it's money already spent it is
10:12the definition of a sunk cost you just have to finish the rest of that job i'm gonna give you

10:24glom onto one idea and this is the why and then that's the why for the rest of everything right
10:29more often than not think about our own lives i when i make a decision i make it off six

10:35or ten or whatever six seven uh different factors and they might not be weighted evenly but it's
10:40never just one thing right it might be one thing that gets over the top but it's never just one
10:45thing when you're making decisions i like bigger decisions you know you're asking me like do i want

11:31deshaun has more media support for this job is because i think in some people's mind he's become
11:38the underdog like i don't know after last year shador is interesting to people right i think there
11:44was a lot of shador talk fatigue because of the way people i mean thought about him in a ridiculous
11:50way because of the supporters because of the i mean if you can't if you can't find chador
11:55interesting i don't think you can find anyone interesting well but think about it if you just
11:58watched him last year and think well that's who he is he's a fifth round quarterback whatever
12:02meanwhile deshaun six years ago was an nfl mvp candidate but you would have had to watch deshaun
12:07for the three years he was in a browns uniform and how bad it was but exactly i don't think

12:11have so like that has to offset it no i like i i think i think they know he was

12:16they don't realize how bad he was he's now become an underdog because he's coming off
12:20multiple career and they're bad at their job if they don't understand how bad deshaun watson was
12:24in a browns uniform we are they fundamentally suck at their job if that's the answer yes we are in
12:28complete agreement in in this but do i think to a national media member trying to to find something
12:36interesting about the browns can i understand if maybe well i saw shador in december and i wasn't
12:40interested i haven't seen deshaun on the field for two years and i remember now houston as much as i

12:46cleveland yeah yeah i can i can see for other people who haven't watched the slow car crash in
12:54real time in painstaking detail hd tv level detail with close-ups and callbacks um i can understand if
13:05they look at this and go deshaun's a more interesting storyline so that's where my brain goes yeah then
13:09they suck at their job though like there's 32 teams there's not like 155 teams you know what i mean
13:14and deshaun started three different seasons if they're not painfully aware of how bad he was with
13:20this team then i can't help them i don't think you're wrong by the way i i don't think you're
13:24wrong in the idea that there are so many national people that will just go back to what he did

13:29houston six years ago and act as if none of the other stuff with the browns happened uh but i

13:33wouldn't pay attention to those people i want people like charles davis to come on it's like half the

13:41know advocating for deshaun you got to come up with something that isn't just six years ago like
13:46you got to give me something to point to something that you see something that you or the brown said
13:51he looked good in practice in december that's not enough for me either no we didn't even see those
13:57practices though that was the browns telling everyone exactly yes the browns who who under no
14:03circumstances owe anyone any sort of honesty when it comes to most honest franchise i've ever come
14:07across as evidenced by what happened just yesterday with deshaun watson in fairness they all
14:12lie oh i don't blame them for it this is the game our side of the game though is not

16:09the worry i had in all of this is that deshaun watson is a practice superstar exactly right he's a
16:14practice field all-american and he's gonna be able to swindle enough people including todd
16:19munkin that he can do it on the big stage and i got three years of evidence that suggests
16:24he turtles in the big stage and then his seasons end in injuries don't fall for the trick yes and

16:31to that point if deshaun takes this job i'm not accepting of 70 of what he was in 2020 it's

16:41it if he's merely competent it's not enough for me he doesn't just have to be better than what you
16:47think the best your door is going to offer you if you're going to put them out there on the

16:53and i know it might not be week one but across 18 weeks it better damn sure look like 2020
