00:00When I heard Albert's kind of synopsis of, well, you know, there's not a lot of love lost there
00:06between Deshaun and the media, and it just continues to hearken back to a guy who has
00:14gone through this systemic, I mean, holistic, you know, just gigantic change in how he's viewed
00:22and how he's perceived and how he's talked about. And I can understand that that is hard to deal
00:28with. But even in like Albert's response of, well, there's not a lot of love lost between
00:33Deshaun and Cleveland. And I just there, if Deshaun doesn't want to speak in front of the
00:39media, or he doesn't want to speak before the fans, because his feelings are hurt because of
00:45what's transpired, then then ask for your release. Get out of town. At some point, he's got to face
00:53the music is the reality. Well, it's not it's it's be if you want to be the starting quarterback
00:57of the Cleveland Browns, you better speak to the media because Shador's out here. And
01:01no, it's a weak requirement that you have to at least once a week then speak to the media
01:04if you are the starting quarterback. I just think it's I, I listen, maybe this is the Browns
01:09coddling him, which is fine. If this is, we don't want to put him out there and until he's
01:14ready or until he's, you know, really got till we know that he's going to be a part of the
01:18quarterback competition. Fine. Okay. If this is Deshaun ducking the Cleveland media, it is just
01:24another sign of a guy who never got this town. Yeah. And a guy who's who's wasted all of our
01:28time. I have no problem with him being bad at football. I've watched plenty of quarterbacks
01:31be bad at football and I liked them all. I like most of them. I love Josh McCown. He was
01:36bad at
01:36football here, but he stood in front of the media and when they were, when Johnny Manziel wouldn't
01:41come to the podium, when they were winless and Johnny couldn't be trusted to show up, I saw Brian
01:47Hoyer go to the damn media. I saw Josh McCown doing the same thing when Deshaun Kaiser was in
01:52the middle of it in his rookie season, right? There's a bare amount here. And this idea that
01:58that Cleveland has done something to Deshaun, just get out of town then. Well, I just get
02:02the hell out. If you can't even be bothered to show up to talk to the media and again,
02:08he talks to the media tomorrow. This is good because if you want to be the face of this
02:12organization, show your face. I wanted to have the conversation because no one's been able
02:16to tell me why he didn't speak to the media today. But like us talking about it will in fact
02:20put pressure on them to do that tomorrow. If that's something that like, it wouldn't surprise
02:24me if tomorrow it's like, yeah, Deshaun, Sean was always going to speak on Wednesday. This
02:28was always the plan. It's like, Oh really? Cause both quarterbacks spoke today. We were
02:34missing one of them. Uh, when Dylan and Shador speaks, it's kind of quarterback day around
02:38these parts. Like, all right, that's fine. But I just, I want to hear from him. I want,
02:41I want some of the answers. And so if this is the pressure we have to put on him to
02:44then
02:44turn around tomorrow and then be like, yeah, you always had it planned on Wednesday. It was
02:47always going to be Wednesday. You idiots in the media. You don't even know. It was always
02:50Wednesday. Okay, fine. But like, I, I don't understand why Deshaun is ducking it the way
02:55that he is. If he, in fact, it just does not plan to speak at all. Well, and listen again,
02:59I want to make it going to be the starter. I don't speak. I don't want to just put it
03:02on Deshaun because it could be the Browns thinking now's not the time. And my, my message
03:07would be whoever's decision is you're wrong. Yeah. No time like the present. If, if, if you've
03:12spent the entire off season, I've, I've talked to people in the Browns organization who
03:16said, yeah, it could go that way. Deshaun could end up playing this year for us. He could
03:19end up winning the starting job. If that's legit, then you need to understand he needs
03:26to be out in front of the media. Yeah. And you need to get fans comfortable with the
03:29idea that he's going to be speaking. And I mean, I always think about this with athletes
03:32in general, you want your own message to be whatever you want it to be. Then you have
03:36to tell us if you don't speak, we're just going to write the message for you. And as of
03:40today, when, when Shador spoke and Dylan spoke, the message I have for Deshaun Watson is
03:44that he's ducking us until he tells me something. Otherwise that's what I'm left
03:48to believe. And listen, um, I know there that I do understand that this is a complicated
03:54situation. Uh, again, it wasn't my PR team that was trying to buy people on social media
04:00to say nice things about a quarterback accused of heinous things yet. Give me time. You could
04:05definitely buy people off on social media. Allegedly. We should say, uh, there are a lot
04:10of DMS that say it's not allegedly, however, but I just, I've never seen a player come here
04:16and I understand the other circumstances, but as bad as Deshaun has butchered this thing
04:22on the field, I mean, his entire camp has screwed the media. And when I say media, I'm really
04:27talking about his relationship with the fans. Right. And, and I just like Shador walks in day
04:34one and he has just engaged with the fans. He is just a man of the people. I, again, I'll
04:39say it 90% of the quarterbacks I've seen walk into this town, understand the, your role of
04:46the face of the franchise and what that entails. And it's just every sense of the way Deshaun
04:52is either not engaged. Deshaun is not really shown himself or not really shown like guys.
04:57I think there were people for the first three years wanting to see the real Deshaun, not
05:02the guy that the, the, all the lawsuits said, not, not the guy that, again, we're seeing
05:07DMS about people on his payroll, trying to get people on his payroll to say nice things.
05:11No, no, no, no, no. They wanted to know the best part about Cleveland is, and this is real
05:16because we have lived in other parts of this country. The best part of Cleveland is I might
05:22know what everyone says about you, but, but if you come to me and show me who you really
05:28are, that's what I'll buy into. Yeah. And we'll defend that. Again, it's so easy. Like
05:33even like, again, Katie, when Shador was speaking, what did she keep saying? She was like, Oh,
05:36wow. I'm very impressed. I like this. I like what's happening here. Like Deshaun can win
05:40people over if he speaks, but not speaking, isn't going to win anybody over. And I don't
05:44think he either, he doesn't understand that or he doesn't care. And I think both is, both
05:48is obviously not great for Deshaun or there's another not, you know, the not caring is one
05:53thing. The I'm worried. And I've always felt this way. Listening to Sean, when he has talked
05:58here, that there's a bit of victim mentality for how things have happened. And I just, I just,
06:05I, it boggles my mind again, like any, any, any reasonable person goes through that and has those
06:13things said about you. I understand your reaction isn't going to be all entirely positive, but the
06:20idea that you might not have done a little bit of self-introspection, you might've not looked a
06:25little bit inward and gone. All right. Even if I don't think I'm guilty of everything that I was
06:31accused of, here's where my behavior, here's the lesson that I learned out of it. I, I mean, it's
06:39mind boggling that we could be here five years in. And again, we'll see if he shows up and talks
06:45tomorrow. Good. He should. I'm hoping that's the outcome here. I'm hoping we talk about it enough.
06:50We bully him into making sure he has an appearance, but I don't know. I'm not expecting it at this
06:53point, but I just don't know, Nick, how long can he run for? If you want to be a starting
06:58quarterback, you can't run from the press conference. It's not how it works. Especially
07:01if you're coming off a double Achilles tear. Well, I just, it just, it's one of those things.
07:05Well, yeah, I mean, that obviously impacts. They can run longer than I can. But Munkin likes a,
07:09he likes a guy that can get out of the move. He has to have with that. But like, you
07:13can't,
07:13you can't. All right. We're going to call this the quarterback scramble away from the media drill.
07:17All right. And there's Daryl to try to tackle him. Just missing. All right. I got past Daryl. All right.
07:23Next up, Mary Kay. But I am saying yes, yes. And oh, yes. But Daryl would miss as if he
07:29was about
07:29to make the tackle of his life. Like you'd watch him and think, my God, Ryder's going to do it.
07:34And then he would just whiff in the most majestical, unathletic way you've ever seen.
07:40He'd be tackling him like the money, like it was money. Like it was a bag of money that he
07:44was,
07:44all you had to do was capture it and it's yours. And then just a swing and a miss.
07:48Actually, I think Daryl's straight line might have a chance to do something interesting.
07:51The second you fake, like you're going to move to another direction. Yeah.
07:56That's when I think it falls apart for Daryl.
07:59He just literally break his ankles. What animal is it that if you're being chased,
08:05you just run and you just run in awkward lines. It's a gator. It's a gator, right? A gator.
08:10Yeah. Yeah. So Daryl's basically a gator.
08:12If you're being chased by a gator, if you're being chased by Daryl, the outcome's the same.
08:17You just have to just zigzag, just run around in different lines and you'll be all right.
08:21I believe his nickname much earlier in his career was Gator Ryder.
08:24Yeah. Is that right?
08:25I already don't take no bleep.
08:27Yep. I don't know about the tour part in the end of that, but yeah.
08:29Gator, never been about that. Never, never been about that.
08:33Why did he turn gangster? Because he does that from time to time. Maybe that's why.
08:37That's true. Gangsta, Gator Ryder. That's what we all call it.
08:41It does slip out occasionally.
08:42No, I mean, I just, you know, it's funny. Like, I, I feel like we've been saying the same things
08:47about Deshaun off the field for five years and there's just a failure to comprehend.
08:53Yeah. And it's just, and it, and it is frustrating.
08:56He can't even show up to Cavs games. They can't put him on the Jumbotron without confidently knowing whether or
09:01not he's going to have a round of applause or boos.
09:04And I would bet that answer would have been boos if they put him on that Jumbotron, but like how
09:08you shape people's narratives and how you get this turned around for yourself.
09:11If you're trying to win the starting job, you gotta, you gotta speak to people.
09:15216-474-0092.
09:17So Deshaun Watson did not speak to the media today.
09:20And all the while we're told that Deshaun Watson is of course in the running for this quarterback job.
09:25Now Dylan Gabriel, who doesn't seem to have a snowball's chance in hell at the job, spoke today.
09:30Shador, who got the first, uh, seven on seven reps today.
09:34And I think first 11 on 11 reps today, uh, he spoke to the media today and it's funny because
09:40people are going to say, well, I don't want to hear anything from him or what's he going to say?
09:45No, no, no.
09:45That's not the point.
09:46It is.
09:47If you want to be a serious contender for this job, part of that is taking the heat.
09:52Part of that is stepping up and answering questions.
09:54And here's the thing, I don't know that that, I don't know that the Browns beat right now is all
10:02hot on the trail of, we're going to jam up Deshaun Watson with, with fully loaded questions.
10:08Maybe Shadell.
10:09Shadell's always got a jam up coming.
10:11He's just a wild card.
10:12But I don't think anyone's out there.
10:13The funny thing is, I don't think anyone has anything out for Deshaun Watson on the Browns beat.
10:20And I think they've always been incredibly respectful of him.
10:23Have I?
10:24No, no, not even, and I'm still not going to be because he hasn't earned it.
10:30The human being never showed up and that pisses me off more than the football player never showing up.
10:36And so that, that is something that I do think we get to the huge difference that I saw between
10:40Baker and Deshaun and Deshaun and Shador, the human beings showed up.
10:45Those other two guys, this guy never did.
10:46That does piss me off because that's the easiest thing to do.
10:49But at the same point, the Browns beat, the Browns beat has never been anything but kind and professional to
10:54Deshaun, even when asking him harder questions.
10:56Yeah, but there's a part of the job and this is what comes with the job.
10:59And this is why like Donovan calls himself Mr. President and he kind of takes on that type of role.
11:04Like that's part of the deal in being a franchise quarterback is you have to, you have to, you have
11:09to do these type of things.
11:10And you have to make it seem as if you're in command and you have to make it seem like
11:13you're not phased by anything.
11:14And you have to, it's an act in many ways, but you have to put on that act and ducking
11:18the media and not speaking when all the quarterbacks spoke is not, you're not living up to your end of
11:23the bargain.
11:23It's not, it's not franchise quarterback-esque at all.
