03:33Now, we are smack in the middle of the week, and that means only one thing.
03:36It's Legally Speaking Wednesdays.
03:38And we have our favorite attorney at law and also the director of policies at the Ministry of Homeland Security,
03:44Mr. Zaheer Ali here with us this evening. Good evening to you, sir.
03:48Thank you very much, Whitney.
03:50You know, again, warm welcome. Unfortunately, you know, some sad news for you this afternoon.
03:56Over the last couple of days, you know, my family suffered a loss.
04:01You know, I lost my aunt, very dear to me.
04:04My condolences.
04:05She was like a mother to me, and only yesterday I was part of a burial team.
04:10So I want to take this first opportunity, you know, to wish my entire family, relative and friends, you know,
04:15condolences
04:15and, you know, ask you all to be strong in prayer and patience.
04:22And, you know, we need, you know, that you're never really ready, you know, even if persons are ailing.
04:29Exactly.
04:29But it's a reminder for all of us that, you know, from Him we came and to Him we shall
04:35return.
04:35Yes.
04:36And it's important for us to maximize the time that we are afforded, you know, in whatever capacity to be
04:42able to do good.
04:44Because that time, that hour, you know, is destined for all of us.
04:47And, you know, I want to say condolences to the family and, by extension, all those who may have lost
04:51loved ones over the last couple of days.
04:54You know, condolences to you as well.
04:55But, like always, it's a pleasure to be here.

04:58I hope you are well.
04:59Yes, well, I mean, we have to make sure you're okay.
05:01And, of course, we extend our condolences on behalf of the entire team and management and also TV6 to your
05:09family as well.
05:10Well, greatly appreciate it.
05:11And thank you all very much for your continued support.
05:13I must say that.
05:14Yes.
05:15To Jackie and our colleagues behind the scene, you know, very instrumental, you know.
05:19Thank you all very much for your contribution to the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.
05:23As always, it's a pleasure and honor to greet you, to engage you, to listen to you.
05:29And, by extension, my law enforcement colleagues as well, fundamental safety and security resides in your hand.
05:36And it's important for you to continue to persevere and continue to do the public business.
05:41A lot is happening in Trinidad and Tobago.
05:42You know, a lot of advisory, a lot of strategic decisions being taken.
05:46You know, I want to say to all of us, you know, we have our work cut out and let
05:49us continue to be focused on the task at hand.
05:52And, you know, as we go along, I'll share, you know, a little bit of perspectives in terms of what
05:57transpired on Friday.
05:58Well, this is where I wanted to go now and find out how was that symposium with the parenthood initiative
06:03that you all are pushing, how things went on Friday.
06:05Well, Whitney, I want to say I was very humble.
06:07Like the symposium, I was very humble by the launch of this national parenting seminar, first of a series.
06:13You know, and why I'm humbled by it as well.
06:16I want to begin at the apex that I saw a response from the government of Trinidad and Tobago, you
06:20know, represented through the Homeland Ministry, you know, led by the Honorable Roger D. Alexander.
06:27And ably partnered, you know, at the event by the Honorable Vandana Mohit, Social Development Family Services.
06:35And we were also expecting Mr. Michael Dowell at the Ministry of Education, unfortunately, had to go to another event.
06:41And all the permanent secretaries and all the technocrats, all the stakeholders, and most importantly, the parents, you know, from
06:48the various education districts.
06:50It was indeed an honor and privilege to meet them, even persons from officials from the Tobago Division as well.
06:57I think it was rewarding.
06:59I think we answered the call.
07:01And, you know, there are a lot of value that came out of it as well that is very instrumental
07:05in how we paved the way in going forward to the other parenting workshop.
07:08But I want to take this opportunity as well to thank all the stakeholders, the Trinidad and Tobago Association of
07:15Psychologists,
07:16the National Parent Teachers Association, the Association of Social Workers, the various ministries, the Children's Authority, the TTPS, and all
07:26other agencies that participated.
07:28If I have not identified you, please forgive me.
07:31But an excellent response, excellent statement, Pastor Dutton, the call to action, the Heroes Foundation.
07:36Just today I had a discussion with Pastor Dutton on Real TV.
07:40And, you know, we had, you know, some good exchange.
07:43And, you know, you're going to see a lot of persons who are going to be coming in as we
07:46go along in terms of the initiatives.
07:48But all in all, I salute you all.
07:50And to Trinidad and Tobago and the parents, the family, you know, very, very important, very important component if we
07:57are to really, you know,
07:58we have heard it many times, but, you know, let us be real about it.
08:00Let us really take steps and let us start that move that is required to be able to build and
08:08strengthen and empower our family, our parents, and, you know, the children of this nation.
08:13So thank you very much for asking, Whitney.
08:14Mr. Ali, you mentioned parents.
08:16And when we opened, you spoke, of course, you had a loss on condolences.
08:20Yes.
08:21But no parent at any point in time, I would believe, will want to bury their children.
08:26And where we are starting this evening, we send condolences to the family here because in this instance, a bicycle
08:32shooter killed Barkpur Farmer.
08:34Now, a Barkpur Farmer was killed after an ambush by a bicycle-riding gunman on Tuesday.
08:41Richard Kamal Mohamed, 34, was shot around midday while standing near his vehicle parked at Manoha Trace.
08:49Mohamed, a father of two, was pronounced dead at the health facility.
08:53Police detectives are searching for the shooter, who they are told was a man of Venezuelan nationality.
09:01And, you know, I'm happy that you said that, Whitney, in terms of parents.
09:04You know, if, you know, you have to bury a child and it's by, directly speaking, you know, it's by
09:11the will of God through natural circumstances.
09:13But when there's a situation where, through crime and criminality, and especially where you may have spoken to that child,
09:19you know, it's not an easy situation when you have to bury that child.
09:22So I'm happy that you raised that.
09:23And I raised that in the context where parents, or my co-host, is indicating to you all that just
09:30thinking about it, and many of you all may have already experienced it, is a very difficult situation.
09:34And for those who may have done it, please share your experiences. It's not something that you look forward to.
09:39And please let us intervene immediately if our children, if our family members are exposing themselves to a level of
09:47risk that can cause us to be burying our children.
09:50It's not an easy thing. You know, just hours ago, I was in a cemetery. And when you see that
09:56body going down into that grave, it's not an easy thing.
10:00And even in a case where there's natural circumstances, far less for a situation where someone may have gone too
10:05early, quote-unquote, you know, in terms of crime and criminality.
10:09So let us hold on to each other. And then just going back to that national launch with our parenting,
10:15it is a strong statement when we are using the word strengthening and empowering,
10:21and the word that we use in that seminar in terms of resilience, because we understand, Whitney, that not everybody
10:25is going to be on an equal playing field.
10:27Some may be lacking particular interventions, but it does not mean that you will throw your hands in the air.
10:31We are coming to you. We are moving other agencies. As a matter of fact, I attended a meeting with
10:37international organizations recently, UNICEF and other consultants,
10:40that, you know, really putting our children at the forefront.
10:44And I want to, you know, recognize the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services for taking that lead and
10:50including other ministries.
10:51So a lot is happening from a preventative stage, Whitney. And I want to stress that a preventative stage, where
10:57the detection of crime and criminality,
11:00that's another area that we need to look at and look at in a very strong way as well in
11:03terms of policy, because we are facing a great challenge with that area.
11:06And as we go along, please remind me that I want to make some very strong statements with reference to
11:12the report of the female who was allegedly abused over a period of time.
11:18I want to make a very strong statement to Trinidad and Tobago, the policy, the legislators and, by extension, the
11:23media in terms of that particular matter.
11:25It's of significance for me to make those statements.
11:27Yes. Right now, let's take a look at what the parents have to see with the loss of their son.
11:33My son called me, he and he said, they come and see a son get shot by a boy down
11:40in the zoo.
11:42Boy, my princess saw what's passing me, you know.
11:45Take a look at what the parents have.
11:49One, two, three, four.
11:51One, two, three, four.
11:52One, four, five, six, six, seven, eight.
11:53You don't feel upset.
11:55One, two, three, four, five.
11:59I don't know it. I don't know when I've answered it.

12:15When I come there, see the man lying down there.

12:32I didn't say nothing earlier.

13:21And you heard from the parents once again condolences to the family, the Mohammed family.
13:26It's an emotional situation.
13:28I mean, just standing here and seeing that the pain, the tears that these parents have
13:33to go through.
13:33No parent will want to even have a thought or imagination of knowing their child was taken
13:40in the senior's way, Ms. Ali.
13:41And all I will say to that situation, apart from beyond condolences to the family, Whitney,
13:46and asking for law enforcement to do a speedy investigation to bring justice to that family,
13:51I want to say that situation like this, and I don't mean to use it in this context, but
13:56I've said it in the past, right on this particular platform here, that if that situation and
14:03that pain that we are seeing and those emotions does not affect you, then something is wrong
14:09with you.
14:09Yeah.
14:10Because as a society, they are feeling the pain, but they should not be the only one feeling
14:15the pain.
14:15And if we live like that in a society, you'll recognize that we all will be interested, we
14:21all will be eager to play a more meaningful role in terms of how we exist or coexist in
14:27our society.
14:28That's parents that we are seeing there, but that could have been another parent or parents
14:35in another situation, because I'm sure there are many others who would have expressed similar
14:39views in terms of losing their loved ones.
14:42But crime and criminality, and I said that up to today, will affect every corner and every
14:47sector of our society, and we must respect that.
14:49So those, and I even speak to the persons who are bent on criminality.
14:53And the non-nationals too.
14:54And the non-nationals who feel comfortable to do what they're doing here.
14:58Well, I'm happy you're saying that, and I see the passion in terms of that as well,
15:02Whitney, that when I speak about persons who Trinidad and Tobago is not restricted to
15:06the citizens, residents, but persons who are here and here illegally or maybe enjoying
15:15some period of time in Trinidad and Tobago, please respect the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
15:19Please respect our law and understand, understand that you may be coming from a different culture
15:27and you're bringing your culture into Trinidad and Tobago, a violent culture.
15:31Wherever you may be coming from, I ask you to desist immediately.
15:34Understand that we are peaceful people.
15:36We are cosmopolitan society.
15:39We are a society that is very wide in terms of our diversity.
15:43And please understand that you need to respect that.
15:46So, I'm happy that you made that call, and for the agencies, persons who are illegal in
15:52Trinidad and Tobago, let us pursue them to ensure that there's lawfulness, because we
15:58have spoken many times, Whitney, that sometimes we overlook the simple things where someone
16:03may say, okay, they are not comfortable in another place, so they decide to come to Trinidad
16:08and Tobago.
16:09But come to Trinidad and Tobago with criminal intent is something that we're not going to
16:13accept.
16:13And I want to say that, you know, very strongly this afternoon, coming from the Ministry of
16:17Homeland Security, I'm aware that the authorities are looking very carefully into this whole
16:22immigration matters.
16:23You know, I myself is looking to put some direction into that particular area, so I'm
16:28happy that you raised that.
16:29But again, unfortunate situation, and condolences to the family with reference to that shooting
16:34in the Southern Division.
16:36Yes.
16:37Right now, let's take a look at what's making the SOE update as of April the 15th, 2026.
16:43Number of operations, 3,625.
16:47Number of target priority offenders, 1,271.
16:52Searches conducted, 2,196.
16:55Traffic operations, 2,035.
16:59Total persons arrested, 1,564.
17:03Total persons charged, 349.
17:07Firearms recovered, we're seeing an increase with the pistols, also with the shotguns, giving
17:12us a total of 90.
17:14Ammunition recovered, we're seeing an increase with the 12 gauge, also with the 0.38 and 0.40,
17:22with a total of 2,191.
17:25And dangerous drug sees, we're seeing now an increase with the cocaine.

17:30Well, you know, as usual, you know, you can predict me in terms of the recognition of
17:34the law enforcement efforts, with reference to the statistics, and, you know, in conjunction
17:38with the citizenry of Trinidad and Typical, because I'm certain that the findings will
17:43be attributed to the information intelligence that is coming, whether through anonymous channels
17:48or whether otherwise, so I want to also recognize your work and urge the law enforcement agencies
17:52to continue to build on those statistics and to continue to go deep into the areas where
17:59there's serious acts of criminality and criminal conduct, Whitney.

22:01and director as well where we are now diving in into further discussion we're heading to penal
22:07now because with this situation we saw that a suspicious blaze hits businesswoman's penal home
22:14now a fire broke out at a house in penal earlier this morning leaving part of the property damage
22:20and prompting a police investigation into suspected arson the blaze started shortly after 6 a.m. at a
22:28three-bedroom concrete flat house along the Oceran Trace in San Francisco the property worth 1.98 million
22:36is owned by businesswoman Frida Balgobin no one was at home at the time of the incident and there were
22:45no reports of injuries fire officers responded and managed to contain the blaze preventing it from
22:51spreading and saving a significant portion of the building however the building was gutted that was
22:58told to the express now police officers who visited the scene later observed signs that raised suspicion
23:04of foul play investigators noted that a window to one of the bedrooms had been broken and a cocktail
23:12thrown to set this space on fire well Sally you know we see the officers moved quickly and observation
23:21was on point well just by your reporting with me um and it's defined as suspicious circumstances and the
23:26alleged fine that you're talking about um you know definitely a need for criminal investigation to be
23:30able to determine exactly the cause yes um but i'm happy that you know in the context that no one
23:36you know
23:36was at home in terms of when you're looking at the dignity of the human being but it's um a
23:42loss and
23:43you know i hope that again i hope that there's pd investigations to be able to you know bring some

23:56now let's make our way into some couple of um rts that took place well before we go there with
24:01me is it
24:01or if you um as i indicated to you um over the last couple days trinidad and tobago would have
24:08been
24:08exposed to a report where a female was being abused yes and you know while i i acknowledge the efforts
24:17from all all including the media in terms of you know bringing it to the forefront trying to promote
24:24justice um or to bring justice or ensure justice for that for me female and all those who may have
24:30been
24:30impacted you know i salute that yes but i want to say to trinidad and tobago and you know all
24:36media
24:36houses as well that while you know um and i'm saying that while there may be suspicious circumstances
24:44and maybe reasonable calls to believe that it may be more than abuse and probably a trafficking in a
24:50human being because of what we are hearing and what we are reading about i think it's important
24:55to me where i said legally to advise the national community that widely trafficking in persons
25:00acts speak about when a prosecution is unfolding that the identity of the individual must be kept
25:07confidential for his or who own protection and family members yeah why we not have a prosecution
25:13i think that being a proactive or forward thinking that we should have recognized that these circumstances
25:23we just cannot have the freedom to report how we want to report and and expose the individual and i
25:29think
25:29that is something that is something that we need to look at as we go forward from a learning context
25:33and the first area that i will signal the legislators i want to signal to the parliament this afternoon
25:38and if you all are not already taking actions i am going to take some actions through the minister of
25:44homeland security because the trafficking in persons act and unit is within that particular ministry
25:50that let us amend that law and let it let the law in terms of protecting identity even be before
25:57a prosecution
25:58because we are many of you speaking dignity of the human being we cannot be exposed in the human being
26:03in the way
26:03that you know um we may have done over the last couple days so i want to hammer that point
26:08i want to advocate strongly
26:09that persons who may be an alleged victim or victim of human trafficking that don't wait for a prosecution but
26:15start protecting that identity so that early screening
26:18will tell you this is a victim or alleged victim so we need to handle this victim in a particular
26:22way because
26:23the genesis whitney is that these individuals are expected to be reintegrated with society correct and
26:30you know it's important that if we are looking at the dignity of the human being we must have a
26:34a balance and a victim-centered approach so yes we are uh we want to pursue justice we want to
26:40pursue the prosecution
26:41but equally the victim and this is where we are talking about trauma psychosocial impact and these
26:46days i'm surrounded by a lot of psychologists and social workers and i'm hearing them i'm listening
26:52to them so this area is no different as well so to the parliament the legislators i want to advocate
26:57for
26:58an amendment to the trafficking in persons up to protect the identity of the human being and secondly
27:03with reference to this individual i want to make a strong call for a diligent investigation with reference
27:10of this particular matter to ensure that we look at it under the trafficking in persons act if we are
27:16not already looking at it there and looking at it from an organized crime element because just for the
27:22purposes of act from an academic point trafficking in persons your exploitation but for benefit so let us
27:30determine what the abuse or what the abduction what the false imprisonment what the coercion the deception
27:37the fraudulent behavior what it was geared towards and do not just treat it as a simple offense against
27:43the person in terms of assault by beating or um what what we have grown accustomed to let us apply
27:49the
27:49law because the international community is looking at us to see how we deal and how we detect matters
27:54like these and i'll say in closing any person in trinidad and tobago who is aware that persons are being
28:00held against the will and exploited for benefit including our old age persons or most vulnerable
28:07our vulnerable children because i came from my area as well in my previous dispensation we're dealing
28:13with trafficking in persons we saw not only us a civilian involvement we saw law enforcement involvement
28:20in those activities as well so i want to make a very solid call because i felt it and it
28:26took me back
28:27into my previous dispensation so um for all of us please let us be guided in terms of how we
28:33exercise
28:33our rights in terms of the situation we have a caller on the line right now caller we do apologize
28:39for
28:39having you holding on but you're on good evening to you understood good evening and a very good evening to
28:46the director
28:47director i want to offer my condolences to you and your extended family on the passing of your arm thank
28:54you very much sir all right and we are discussing today's issue with no agriculture cricket
29:02you all say you all say when you see something say something when you hear something say something
29:09i listen attentively to the contribution of our our attorney general and parliament on friday evening fridays
29:19and what he said he linked a former government minister to a gang leader who has set up
29:28workshop in the uk who has extended and broadened his reach that is a gangster who originated from finidad
29:38and during the attorney general contribution he said soka the crime
29:47organization in the uk passed on information to the special branch
29:51he also said the special branch passed on that information to senior government official
29:59he said the timing of passing out that information on to the senior government official
30:06was closely linked to the time that government minister removed his name from the company register
30:11in the uk which was close to the the buckingham palace or something like that and he said it alleged
30:18to be a tip-off
30:20so i am actually was that a version in the course of justice and will the police intervene and be
30:32proactive
30:32and launch an investigation because this is second time to get to that information
30:38last year the information was put into the public the wind in the express by i think one of your
30:45co-hosts
30:46this time is the same message by a different messenger in 2025 march a senior acp i won't call his
30:55name
30:55said no he has called right through the ranks and fired the police and no investigation was launched
31:01i am accident with an investigation would be launched now such that we now hearing more critical information
31:14and the only way we will notice it perverted because of justice our investigation has to be learned and
31:20it's no fair no hope it all right thank you so much color a lot uh a lot thank you
31:26very much
31:26so there well i i i certainly that you took me back last week friday last week friday i was
31:31enjoying an
31:32environment um listening to um technocrats and listening to feedback from parents in trinidad and
31:41tobago unfortunately i may have missed that opportunity that you're speaking about but you have tabled this
31:46afternoon and i hope that the decision makers at the different levels will listen to you in terms of what

35:11mr ali here with us now mr ali we're gonna head to san mon because there was assault with intent
35:17that took place in that area now police are investigating an incident of assault with intent
35:23to rob with which occurred on tuesday the 14th of april 2026 along the eastern main road in san
35:30one at approximately 10 a.m the victim is 64 year old retiree was on the compound of jr tech
35:37tt
35:37in the vicinity of caribbean glass specialist limited when he was attacked by three male suspects
35:44initial reports indicate that the victim was standing on a ladder painting a gate when he was
35:50suddenly approached from behind grabbed and pulled to the ground the suspects proceeded to assault him
35:56and attempted to steal a gold chain from around his neck their attempt was unsuccessful due to the swift
36:04intervention of nearby workers who came to the victim's assistance the suspects subsequently fled the
36:11scene on foot in an easterly direction officers of the portiswind capital city patrol unit responded
36:19promptly and apprehended two suspects along the priority bus routes and one the individuals are
36:25listening is 16 year old male from sealots and a 20 year old male from sealots both suspects are
36:32currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigation the third suspect remains at large
36:38and is described as a male afric of male african descent slim built approximately five feet six inches tall
36:46with a brown complexion the victim sustained injuries during the incident and has since received medical
36:53attention mr ali whitney i have a lot to say about that and first let me begin with the response

36:58the law enforcement agencies yes i thank you very much for some quick action to bring these persons into
37:03custody to progress the investigations um and as i speak you'll be able to have some um clarity on what
37:11really took place because it was what's happening the boldness mr ali yes now young men yes and i'm
37:17the age of the ages sorry of the persons 16 and 20 16 and 20 yes that goes smack into
37:24the area when we
37:25are looking at vulnerable youths and children yes and if again it demonstrates clearly that there's a
37:31important need to look into that particular direction in terms of our vulnerable youths and children
37:36you know seen you know we have spoken about an assault with intent to rob yeah what you have also
37:42you know described um you know i can easily look in the direction of an attempted robbery you know to
37:47look at it in a different context but um and i may probably even put another lot on it as
37:52well so the
37:52investigators who's listening you know don't treat it as an assault or up assault with intent to rob
37:57sorry or an attempted robbery but you also seen some level of organization because there were two persons
38:02involved gang so if you really you see with me with me you seem to have a police id card
38:07yes i think you
38:08probably have a police id card because once i make mention of two persons yes and are all enough
38:13better formally informally organized who is engaging in a gang related activity which is in this case
38:17robbery on attempt to rob um on assault as the case may be you know we are actually looking in
38:22that
38:22direction so it may sound like it are simple simple but if you check this as well and you look
38:27at copper
38:27looking at the crime statistics and the crime trends and you're looking at the patterns you may well find
38:31this is not the first occasion that these persons have um have explored yes you know so it may be
38:37a
38:37situation where we may have just intervened on an organized syndicate and you know what's interesting
38:43here um with me what's on that these two persons may be the hands and feet for a body which
38:51is what a
38:51central gang that is now deploying these persons to go for things of value to bring it back into the
38:57gang um
38:58so very significant matter and i i call for a very serious inquiry very serious investigation um
39:03just imagine i'm going to jump there you could be in track and field i confuse yeah why are you
39:09taking this talent that you all have everyone has a talent miss ali i believe that yeah most certainly
39:14right if you said that they came for the gold chain as well it shows that um you know persons
39:18can
39:18enjoy their own property and how are we now to tell people not to wear their pieces which we we
39:24do
39:24because it's to safeguard yourself what is yours you paid for it why i can't enjoy the items i worked
39:30extremely hard for we saw that the gentleman who was there speaking with them realized something was
39:35up that's correct and they paid attention because clearly he observed the scene that was taking place
39:39that's right the man is still alive that's correct but it's two young men again that's oh my goodness i
39:45don't know that's correct and hence why it's important for us to really go in that direction to really you
39:50know um see if we can make a dent in relation to you know the what is prompting these vulnerable
39:56youths you know what is prompting these children to be getting involved you know and you know what is
40:00you know let me link it to the parenting right away you may well find that if you investigate let's
40:05say
40:05the 16 year old who's within the age of a child and you ask the parents where's your child yes
40:11so you
40:12know it shows how the nexus and if that is investigated properly for the parents who's listening
40:18if you are not careful and exercising due diligence and supervision over your children
40:22don't only look at a situation where there is a robbery attempted robbery or an assault with intent
40:27to rob you under the children's act can find yourself in very difficult situation and i make mention of
40:32that on friday where under the children's act there's something called um neglecting a child abandoning
40:38a child exposing a child to harm so if you know a child is engaging a criminal gang and you
40:44and you
40:45are naive or you're not taking action to be able to preserve that water and authority to say listen
40:49i need help for this child just be careful that you may be harboring a gang member or you may
40:54be
40:54benefiting from um proceeds of crime which can also land you into problems so let us look at this into
41:00context we can draw this entire map in terms of how everything will link to everything so again
41:06unfortunate but i hope you know that victim gets the necessary intervention justice and also i saw that he
41:12fell from the ladder so i hope that is here yes okay 10 a.m you outside robin not in

42:17be done about that but these guns that come in and i know that they continue to get take guns

42:23more guns coming in and we have to do something more rather the first one the second point is concerning
42:28that same lady it's so sad when you look at that lady's face on the papers and when you read
42:33some of these things that was said for so many years and how she was treated at one time her
42:38family thought she was already there and they had something then to realize that she wasn't there
42:42and you tell me nothing was done nobody said anything i also heard something i don't know if it was
42:49there
42:49i heard something on another program where a place where she was staying as though there had a fire
42:55i don't know if you all heard that so if that really happened where she was staying and they had
42:59a fire
43:00does that mean that they would they would get rid of some of these things that could see you know
43:05some of the evidence or something if that's right if that really happened but i really want them
43:10when i look at her she really has psychological physical across everything else and to go through
43:15that it's really really really not nice and then these non-national this is not the fullest time
43:20you remember when some one of them went when a woman went to collect her or rent and what they
43:26did
43:26that they feel they could do what they want in this country and get away with it and this is
43:30not
43:31the first time i've heard about a bicycle thing but i hope that they catch up with all these people
43:36because something has to be done about it you can't leave your country and come here do what you want
43:40and get away with it and trunidad and the people have to overcome all of this so i hope they
43:47do a good
43:47investigation and they get people and they really get persons who interfere with other people in this
43:54country because something is really wrong but we're not giving up prayer have to help us so we're not giving

47:45persons non-nationals correct that are affecting the peace and security of the citizens of trinidad and
47:51tobago and i think that's all mr i think you are correct and i think you have directed that to

47:55authorities that um has the direct responsibility to look at persons who are being considered to enjoy the
48:03land of trinidad and tobago so it's important for us to continue to do that due diligence um diligent
48:08sorry and also you know what is fascinating with me is that these persons um if they coming for
48:15whatever area they may come whatever country that they're coming in from yes but they are um illegal
48:20we as citizens in this country aid and abed them yes so they are not just standing on the on
48:26the on
48:26the public road they are they have been housed somewhere yes right they have been um employed somewhere
48:31they have been harbored somewhere so i am happy that you raised that um my lady and i want to

48:36to the citizenry do not aid and abet these persons to be in trinidad and tobago without presenting
48:42themselves to an immigration officer so a proper inquiry could be done in trinidad and also if need
48:48be with interpol in the jurisdiction that they are coming from to find out well who are these people
48:53persons you may well find that these persons may be having outstanding warrants and wanted for very
48:58serious crimes flagged in other countries and you do not know that they are among us so very very

52:35the police stormed a boat and went down and held them up and thing right i want to know what
52:41is the
52:41police accident and the next thing i i i i i i i i i i i i i i

52:50I saw that right, and it happened to be a army man, a member of the defense force last week.
52:57I want to know if these protective services have been overwhelmed, and what you all are doing in terms of,
53:03you know, taking care of the health and sickness,
53:08and what will the police put in place, because this is very alarming, because the two members of the defense
53:14force,
53:15I'm sorry, one of the defense force that the protective services taking their life is very concerning to me. Thank

53:29You know, the advocacy for promoting good mental health.
53:34I think that's an excellent point.
53:36And we have bodies that are set up, associations and representative bodies,
53:40and by extension, very strong leadership in these various agencies, who must see that as an important intervention that must
53:47be made.
53:48These persons, like you said, are on the line every single day.
53:52But equally, they have their personal lives as well.
53:55And if you are not basically feeling their temperature when you're supervising,
53:59or not having a particular atmosphere or environment so that they can express what's happening, then you're going to lose
54:05them.
54:05So again, excellent point, and I hope that the association and representative bodies, and by extension, the leadership of these
54:11organizations,
54:12really recognize the importance of their human resource to be able to continue to serve Trinidad and Tobago.
54:16So excellent.
54:18As a matter of fact, the psychosocial that we are adopting in terms of parenting and vulnerable youths,
54:23that is exactly where we are going.
54:25What's happening in the mine?
54:26What's causing the mine for these youths to be behaving in a particular way?
54:29So you are on par.
54:30And your first point, again, the area with the robberies involving the waterfront.
54:39Yes.
54:39You have hit a nail on the head as well, that when you're looking at trends and patterns of crime,
54:44these criminal elements are thinking, they are improvising, they are looking for vulnerable opportunities.
54:49So I'm happy that you brought that to the forefront to recognize, and I said it early on in this
54:53program, and early on today,
54:54that crime and criminality are going to impact every sector of Trinidad and Tobago.
54:59And we are seeing now a situation where you are coming along, what?
55:02On the waterfront.

55:04And waterfront where?
55:05In the vicinity of where international persons are coming in.

55:09So, you know, what is that doing with our tourism?

55:32I wanted, I would like to know where, what they do with the guns that they find all the time,
55:38because so much guns still are outside.

55:47Well, what's supposed to be happening is that if firearms are seized,
55:50and firearms are, it forms part of a court matter.
55:54Normally, it's an exhibit in the matter, so that you'll be waiting for the directions of the court.
55:58Normally, if the matter comes to an end, there's a conviction,
56:00or either directions will be given to the court in terms of that illegal item
56:04to be able to be disposed with proper intervention with the various authorities.
56:08So, that's one aspect of it.
56:10Where there's a situation where firearms are found, and no one is arrested and charged,
56:14it's incumbent upon the police service to take the necessary steps and protocols to destroy these items.
56:21These items should not be staying with us.
56:23So, if that is not happening, again, I open the door for not only the firearms,
56:27but I'm also now going to advocate even for dangerous drugs being kept for a very long period,
56:32where we can use photographs, alternate means, so that we don't have these things within our domain,
56:38and hoping that it is protected.
56:40And then you have an officer who is misbehaving, or there's a conspiracy with officers and the citizenry,
56:46where the drugs end up back on the road, or the firearms end up back on the road.
56:49So, excellent point.

56:51I will look into that as I leave this program in terms of what exactly is happening with these items
56:55that have been found.
