00:00Right now, it's time to go around the entire NFL, powered by Men's Tea Clinic, and dip it into some
00:06gridiron gravy.
00:11Dip it and tip it.
00:13Now, a couple of things. The Dallas Cowboys did in fact host Avion Terrell for a 30-visit yesterday.
00:21This is somebody who, you know, that name has come up more and more and more as we've gone along.
00:27So definitely a name to keep an eye out on, especially maybe around 20 or if the Cowboys trade down.
00:32And speaking of trading down, there's been a couple of different sources on this.
00:37And Alec, I know you brought another one up this morning, but I know yesterday Jordan Schultz has said a
00:43lot of NFL teams are expecting that this draft will be one of the more trade-heavy drafts in recent
00:49memory,
00:50specifically on the defensive side of the ball.
00:53And several executives have said they believe there'll be a flurry of activity in the first half of day one
00:58because so many teams, and this is unfortunate,
01:03so many teams are hoping to pursue extra day two and early day three picks because they think maybe that's
01:10where the value is.
01:11And so I keep thinking back to so many of the draft profiles that, Corey, you and Alec have done.
01:17And I feel like frequently the end result is, I really like this player.
01:24I think he would be a good value on day two.
01:27Yeah, and I think the – I heard the term this morning from Bobby Alec.
01:32I think you might agree with the phrase that he used.
01:36It's not top-heavy, but it's very middle-dense.
01:41Middle-dense, and that's the term that he used.
01:43Middle-dense is what he used for this draft specifically.
01:47And I think from second through fourth, you're like, man, I can do some work here.
01:52I'm not completely certain fifth, sixth, seventh round how much you can actually accomplish there.
01:57Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:58But I do feel like second through fourth, you're good.
02:00And the Cowboys, this is the year, Kevin, that the Cowboys were like, we're going to have two first-rounders.
02:04You're like, oh, darn it, the bad timing on this kind of stinks a little bit.
02:09Maybe next year is the better option for having that, but you already traded that one away.
02:14But I think the Cowboys are still going to pull away with a couple good players.
02:18And I really do like – again, Kevin, you're right.
02:22There could be a lot of movement up.
02:24We've discussed a variety of trades that put the Cowboys in having a couple second-round picks,
02:30getting up and still getting back a little bit, getting out of the first round a couple different ways,
02:35but still having your 20, but being able to move into the second round
02:38so you can get some good value and have some extra picks to get some good players.
02:41A couple of interesting league-wide issues that are worth looking at.
02:46The NFL has informed teams that it will begin training replacement officials in May.
02:53Now, look, I realize that they sent out this information not only for informational purposes,
02:58but also to, like, hopefully get a little urgency going for the NFL referees
03:04or hopefully challenge them to maybe lower some of their demands.
03:09But I think that's definitely worth watching.
03:11As – go ahead.
03:12I'm watching the pit, and most of the time, whenever something happens,
03:17the guy, Noah Wiley, he'll go, this is a learning hospital.
03:23And I wonder how long – like, that's me going,
03:26and it's – some of those dudes have been there for 10, 20 years.
03:29Yeah.
03:29And they're still learning.
03:30And for officials, how long does it take to learn the officiating part of this?
03:36I bet it takes a long time.
03:38You're paying those officials for what their experience is.
03:43Well, the Players Association stepped out and said that the NFL has to be joking
03:47if they say they care about player safety,
03:49but they're about to get a whole bunch of replacement refs in there.
03:52So, there's that.
03:54And they've already instituted a new backup rule in case there's replacement refs.
04:01Kevin, this is something I need to point out real quick.
04:04Xander Schauffele's tee shot somehow ended up in somebody's bag on the course,
04:11and I don't know how you play that.
04:13Like, do you go play it where it lies?
04:15Do you have to take a drop?
04:16You let us know, Tolos.
04:18Is it worth it?
04:19It's just in somebody's bag.
04:21Is it worth it to just leave if that's your bag?
04:25You're like, I got his tee shot off of six or what.
04:29I don't know what hole they're on.
04:30And you're like, that's my souvenir.
04:32You can't keep me here.
04:33Yeah, exactly.
04:34You're not a hostage.
04:35Yeah.
04:36Yeah.
04:36And so.
04:37You don't have a prison on campus here.
04:39There was a time when I might not have felt that way at that golf club,
04:42but I think now, hopefully, they've opened their eyes enough.
04:46All right.
04:46So another thing to keep an eye out on, we don't have all the specifics on this,
04:50but the Wall Street Journal is reporting that the Department of Justice has opened an investigation
04:55into the NFL and their antitrust exemption.
04:59So what this would mean for people, and this is something that we've talked about for a couple of years.
05:05Again, this is a nonpartisan political story that could impact your football watching,
05:10is I think part of the deal is going to be with so much football moving towards streaming
05:17and costing Americans extra money, theoretically extra money.
05:21I don't know how everyone sets up their cable and streaming and everything like that.
05:25Then the NFL might try to twist, or excuse me, the government might try to twist the screws a little
05:31bit
05:31and be like, hey, that doesn't work for me.
05:34And if you can't reverse course on this with your next set of media agreements,
05:38then maybe I have to peel back some of these exemptions.
05:42Because they do already, I mean, they technically have a monopoly, right?
05:46Not technically.
05:47They do have a monopoly.
05:48That's one of the things that the exemption covers.
05:51And it's an allowed monopoly.
05:53Correct.
05:54Because I heard there were some exemptions that cover that.
05:57Correct.
05:57Somebody said that recently.
05:59That was me.
06:00Okay.
06:00And so that's where they've kind of let them get away with things, but now they're like,
06:05kind of like when Ted Cruz came on and was like, the fees are too much.
06:09I just need to know the fees, please, before I get surprised by them.
06:13If you want me to lay it out in a really simplistic manner,
06:15isn't the United States government doing to the NFL what the NFL is doing to the refs?
06:19Yes.
06:20Aren't they just like, oh, well, maybe we'll start this training.
06:23And the government's like, oh, well, maybe we'll start this investigation and see what happens.
06:27Yeah.
06:28So just, you know, keep an eye out on that.
06:30Now, Cowboys, they, I already mentioned that they had Avion Terrell in for a visit.
06:37Donovan Ezraku, he is going to switch his jersey from 41 to 6.
06:42The last time Ezraku wore 6 was in his final season at Boston College.
06:47To the beast.
06:49The amount of sacks he's going to have this year.
06:51I mean, that last year at Boston College, he had 16 and a half.
06:54So I would prefer that over 6, but that feels like reaching for the skies quite a bit.
07:00Let's just try to get to 6 first.
07:01Okay.
07:02Yeah.
07:02That's fair.
07:02Let's shoot for 6 this year.
07:03Keep Bobby's hair.
07:04I gotcha.
07:05Now, a couple of other, we talked about the beast some yesterday,
07:08but a couple of other ones that stood out to me, like in terms of his rankings.
07:12And we could probably spend an entire show on this thing.
07:16Sonny Stiles at 4 and Mansoor Delane at 6.
07:21We've talked about it.
07:23Delane's that good, dude.
07:24Even if the betting odds don't totally reflect that,
07:27it feels like people have had Sonny Stiles falling in his mock.
07:31And then for Delane, it feels like once he ran his 40,
07:34he was a lock-in top 10, probably higher.
07:38I feel like Brugler's been really high on Delane for a long time, though.
07:43You're high on him, too.
07:44I'm very, yes, absolutely.
07:46Alec is, too.
07:47We watched the dude.
07:48Don't throw that way, is just what I would say.
07:51It's not going to work out in your favor most of the time.
07:54Now, Troy Aikman was very adamant years ago with Byron Jones specifically.
07:59He was like, I'm not afraid of the guy that's going to knock the ball down.
08:01I'm afraid of the guy that's going to intercept it.
08:04And that being said, I just don't think you're going to have a great day
08:07if you have to line up across from Delane through most days.
08:10So, yeah, I'm very high on him.
08:12What was your question, though?
08:16It wasn't really a question.
08:17It was just a statement that they're up there.
08:20They belong in that top six on the Bs, for sure.
08:23And then Reuben Bain is at nine.
08:26Jacob Rodriguez is at 40.
08:29But we talked about some of the guys that are maybe higher
08:31or as high as people think.
08:33But I want to point out two others.
08:35Cassius Howell and C.J. Allen.
08:37Cassius Howell is at 39.
08:40And C.J. Allen is at 46.
08:42I think perhaps for some that's lower than maybe they anticipated.
08:48So maybe Delane at six is higher than some people thought.
08:50I thought that's lower than kind of the groupthink has been about those two.
08:55But, again, I have a lot of respect for the knowledge and work that Brugler put in.
09:00I just thought that was fascinating.
09:01He does have Jacob Rodriguez at 40.
09:03Yep.
09:04That's an interesting look.
09:05Now, in Cassius Howell.
09:06Right with Howell, yeah.
09:07Howell, I can, you know, again, I see him in a variety of places.
09:11That edge nine is definitely a place that it works perfectly for him.
09:16Here's a player that I was, I'm very curious about and I want to watch more
09:20because I've watched him and I really like him.
09:22And, Alec, I don't know if you've seen him yet, but Malachi Lawrence.
09:25And here's the note on Malachi Lawrence out of UCF.
09:29A bit older than teams may like, but a skillful pass rusher and tough against the run.
09:33Skillful pass rusher is what I saw.
09:36Okay.
09:36Like, I was just like, oh, wow, that's really nice.
09:38And he's strong against the run.
09:40That was, he said tough.
09:41I kept saying strong because he didn't get pushed around very much.
09:44But then I went, I was like, how old is he?
09:46He's 22.8 years old, Kevin, which means in July he'll be 23.
09:51Okay.
09:51So I thought this was kind of a, uh, Messador situation.
09:56Yeah.
09:56And when he said, yeah, when he said that, I was like, oh no, how old is this guy?
10:00Is 20, 23 years old to start your rookie season is old then, huh?
10:05Yeah.
10:05I guess it would be about a year and a half older than you would like.
10:10And then I know like there's the Tyron Smiths and all that were way younger.
10:14And we're also, we've been discussing this for a time now.
10:17You can make a good living in college.
10:19And we've discussed that we're seeing more players stick around longer because they know
10:24they can make three, $4 million in college.
10:28Uh, and then they can go on and be a professional in the NFL where college has a little bit
10:33of
10:33a different pressure to it.
10:34Uh, and the NFL is like, you are on your own.
10:37Uh, or I think it was, uh, Trent Richardson came on with us once and was like, oh yeah,
10:40dude, at Alabama, everything was done for me.
10:43Uh, and my schedule was given to me and people came and picked me up.
10:47And then in the NFL, I was all on my own.
10:49And obviously I, I messed up a little bit.
10:51So I'm going to go check something, but I wonder if reclassification would ever become
10:57more of a thing for football.
10:59I need to go double check the NFL bylaws about the draft for that.
11:02We're the KNC masterpiece right here on one Oh five, three, the fan.
