00:00We are now diving into some Gridiron Gravy.
00:08Gridiron Gravy is powered by Men's Tea Clinic.
00:11You can dip it, then rip it.
00:18The world of Troy Aikman is fascinating.
00:21Very.
00:23Because this world in particular, and by the way, let's actually, before I get into the Troy Aikman thing,
00:27let's go ahead and update on some things that have happened.
00:29The Dolphins and the Broncos made a trade at the very beginning of our show today.
00:35Jalen Waddell now heads to the Broncos with a fourth-round pick.
00:40And then on the other side, it was the No. 30 pick, and then a third-round pick,
00:44and another pick, I believe, that Miami got in return.
00:48And the conversation we had, I just saw Wolchuk kind of say the same thing,
00:52is hopefully they're looking at Carnell Tate in the first round, the Dolphins, that is,
00:57is to replace their wide receiver.
00:59But this is interesting that, like, all the moves to build around Malik Willis
01:03and then take away from Malik Willis, you're like, hey, they're taking away your best receiver.
01:09And good luck, you know, building a new bond with this other receiver,
01:12hopefully, is the thing that they're hoping there.
01:15It's interesting because the Dolphins, they could turn it around quickly
01:19because I just saw Cameron Wolfe posted this.
01:22They now have 11 draft picks this year.
01:25Seven of them are in the top 100.
01:28That's a good way to build a team.
01:29That is a quick way to turn things around.
01:33Again, if the quarterback pans out, which is a massive question mark,
01:37they didn't invest a lot of money there, so theoretically, they could just revisit next year,
01:43you know, if they want to.
01:45But they've got a lot of assets now.
01:47So if you're going to tear this thing down, that is the complete correct way to do it.
01:52And I also wonder, too, maybe you're thinking this when it comes to receiver.
01:56Maybe they're thinking a running back to pair with A-Chan.
02:00There's a lot of different options.
02:02Like, to have a running game like that, and Malik Willis can run,
02:05he can chuck the ball, too, I'm interested to see what their plan is going to be
02:10because their moves so far just don't make a ton of sense to me at the moment.
02:15That being said, the Eagles did sign Hollywood Brown,
02:19and that's interesting to me, too, because he's built very similar to Devontae Smith.
02:25Smith actually is a little more wiry than him,
02:28but the use of receivers like that is very interesting.
02:32I'm not afraid of it by any means,
02:34but the Cowboys definitely do need to make sure they have a depth of cornerbacks
02:38to be able to compete against something like that.
02:40So those are the moves that we've seen so far.
02:42From the 9-4-0, KC will take Delane or Downs at 9.
02:46That's a possibility, too.
02:48That's a definite possibility.
02:49I'd love to see them go ahead and take Kenyon Sadiq and say,
02:53hey, we've got our tight end,
02:54and then we'll see how everything else falls after that.
02:56Because, dude, can you imagine Mahomes down the road, or even Justin Fields?
03:02But can you imagine Mahomes down the road rocking with Sadiq and that,
03:06like his speed down, his vertical threat?
03:08Yes.
03:09He needs a passing threat like that.
03:12But I also saw them trade away Trent McDuffie,
03:14and they might be looking for a way to go ahead and replace that kind of player on their secondary.
03:19They've got decisions to make,
03:21and even for this year, if they went the Sadiq route,
03:2312 personnel with Travis Kelsey, if he, you know, cares,
03:27if he just wants to be there and shows up and plays halfway decent football.
03:32And a lot of it, I noticed his contract is very odd.
03:36Kelsey's one-year deal, there's a lot of escalators and incentives.
03:39So I bet he's going to start looking at those numbers and be like,
03:42oh, I can play a little bit better, earn a little bit more money.
03:45So if he shows up motivated and has a Kenyon Sadiq playing next to him,
03:4812 personnel in Kansas City is going to be a very popular and very frequent site.
03:55You know, I did just see somebody texting and said the Dolphins have Ollie Gordon.
03:59And I was like, you know what?
04:01You're right.
04:01I forgot about his 2.8 yards per carry.
04:04That was Cody texting him.
04:05I appreciate that, though.
04:08Let's hit Troy Aikman now.
04:10He mentioned on the Rodeo Time podcast that he is,
04:15he said this year the Dolphins reached out to me,
04:18asked if I could help with their GM search and head coaching search.
04:22It kind of caught me out of left field.
04:24I wasn't expecting that.
04:25I dove into it and decided I would do it.
04:27Thoroughly enjoyed it and felt like I was some help.
04:31Where that might go, I'm not sure.
04:33I'm going to continue to work with them in some capacity.
04:36And he added that his work with Miami scratched whatever itch he had for working in an NFL front office.
04:42So now he's got that feeling again.
04:45That, oh, hold on.
04:47I always kind of had a thought about this.
04:49I've stayed connected to the game via being a broadcaster.
04:53But now to make decisions to be part of the competitiveness that wins.
04:59That's something, like, that's the thing.
05:01You watch the Netflix series, the Jerry Jones series.
05:04Everything you get from Troy Aikman in that series is that that dude, all he wants is winning.
05:15Like, that's it.
05:16And now he's like, you know, I might stick around with the Dolphins.
05:19They were the team that reached out to him and wanted him to come play for them after he'd retired.
05:24I just don't think that Jerry Jones or the Cowboys will ever do that.
05:28I just don't.
05:29I'd love it if at some point they said, you know what?
05:32We'll swallow our pride and we'll ask Troy Aikman to come back to this thing.
05:36I just don't think it'll ever happen.
05:39But I think it's interesting to watch Tom Brady be in broadcasting and then also be part of this as
05:46well.
05:47And then now Troy Aikman's like, hold on.
05:50Tom Brady can be part of broadcasting?
05:53And be involved with the team?
05:55I'd like to do both.
05:56Yeah.
05:56I like money.
05:58You know, because you got to imagine he's making some cash there.
06:01Has to be.
06:02Yeah.
06:03But is Tony Romo going to go find a team to be part of?
06:08Is Greg Olson?
06:10Like, you know what?
06:10Oh, I'd love that.
06:11My turn to be part of the Panthers.
06:14I'd love that.
06:15And Romo would make a lot of sense because I think his time on TV is going to be coming
06:19to an end somewhat soon.
06:20Uh, because he just, he's, he's losing steam.
06:23If he wants to be involved with football, it needs to be with a team at some point, uh, in
06:28the next few years.
06:29But for Troy to say that it scratched the itch, that makes me really intrigued how much he actually did,
06:36because that makes me think he was very involved.
06:39Me too.
06:40And he did a lot of work.
06:41So I, I know he probably just doesn't care to get into specifics, but I would love to know just
06:47to be a fly on the wall for some of those meetings that they had and conversations where they're evaluating
06:53and the interview processes that he was a part of with these candidates.
06:57So, like, I would love to know what questions he was asking and how much homework he was actually doing
07:02on some of these guys to see their background and to see how they work with other people.
07:07Was he calling up other players and other coaches?
07:09Be like, hey, tell me about this guy.
07:12You know, this, this Halfley guy, what's he about?
07:15Yeah.
07:15You know, like, it sounds like he did a ton of work.
07:17So, yeah, that it's intriguing.
07:20And I think you're going to see a lot more people taking that same route, because like you said, at
07:24the end of the day, they're getting paid for it.
07:26Yeah.
07:26So it's a good way for them to be involved in football, but step back a little bit because you
07:32even saw, I think it was Venezuela's manager after the WBC game.
07:36They asked him, like, would you want to manage or coach in Major League Baseball?
07:40And he was like, dude, that's a long season.
07:43He was like, this is fun.
07:44But he was like, I had to get to the ballpark at one thirty today and I'm leaving after everybody
07:49else.
07:50Doing that for one sixty two.
07:52He's like, probably not.
07:54He was being brutally honest.
07:55Probably not.
07:56They better pay me a lot more than this.
07:59The this is this is fantastic.
08:01Offense, ex-Falcons, offensive tackle Elijah Wilkinson went in on social media, just went after people.
08:09He's deleted his comments since, by the way.
08:11So I don't really love that so much.
08:12But he was getting some criticism for signing his free agent deal with the Arizona Cardinals last week.
08:19And so as the it started to come in, he said, good luck with that clown show over there.
08:25And more people just continued to go in on him.
08:27The some people didn't appreciate it.
08:30And he said, LOL, y'all in hell right now.
08:33Have fun being ass next year.
08:36And then he said, ha ha ha.
08:37Yeah, right.
08:38All right.
08:39And all the passes Darnell Mooney dropped and Kyle Pitts F off my line.
08:43And have fun rooting to lose the NFC South 28-3, 28-3.
08:48Ha ha ha ha.
08:49Laughing stock.
08:50And then finally he followed with, thanks for supporting me when half these people commenting wouldn't.
08:55Bailed the Falcons out when they had nowhere to turn to.
08:58Good luck moving forward.
09:00So I don't think he's ever going to be asked back to be a GM of the Falcons or anything
09:04like that.
09:04Because he kind of took a few shots there.
09:06And that was hilarious.
09:08That's how you burn a bridge.
09:09But if you're going to do that, stand on it.
09:11Leave all that up.
09:12Like at that point, social media gets a hold of things so quick.
09:16Yes, they do.
09:17We've already kind of moved past this.
09:19The Rashawn Gary social media post.
09:22Goodbye, Green Bay.
09:23And they're like, we haven't cut him.
09:25We haven't traded him.
09:25He's still here.
09:26And then he said he was hacked.
09:28And then he told the media, yeah, I actually got hacked.
09:30But did he really?
09:31Like, dude, we saw it.
09:34Just leave it up there.
09:35It's a good laugh.
