00:00It's time to go around the entire NFL and dip into some gridiron gravy.
00:08I know there's a lot to get to here, but I want to start with this.
00:12Kyle Juszczyk was asking about this, and so I posed the question to y'all as well.
00:19What is it going to take for Brock Purdy to get true acceptance from the majority of the fan base?
00:30I'm not saying they have to say he's the number one quarterback, but what's it going to take for people
00:35to look at him and be like,
00:36Oh yeah, he's easy. Top five, six, seven, something like that.
00:40Because I think some people think that, and other people are like, he's just a dude.
00:43I think if he won a Super Bowl, people would still think he's just a dude.
00:46Yeah.
00:47Because the defense is so good. He would have to be a passing leader, MVP.
00:53Okay.
00:54Has he won an MVP?
00:55No.
00:56So, I think MVP and passing leader, in some respect, his numbers are good.
01:03Yeah?
01:04So that's good.
01:05But you rely, and that team does rely heavily on McCaffrey and their defense.
01:12And I wonder, even if he was a passing leader, if they'd be like,
01:16Yeah, but McCaffrey, all those numbers.
01:18Or if they'd go, Oh, he was a passing leader with Mike Evans and Kittle.
01:22And those are the numbers that stand out.
01:23But I think having an MVP, being in strong consideration for MVP year in, year out,
01:30and then winning that Super Bowl and being the reason they won.
01:32Do you believe we will get to a point, let's say in the next two or three years,
01:38where some or all of those qualifications are met, and people look at Brock Purdy,
01:42it's like, Oh, yeah.
01:43Well, Brock Purdy's obviously up there.
01:45Um, no.
01:47I don't.
01:47Okay.
01:47But I, because I think the credit still goes to Shanahan's system right now on that defense.
01:52Okay.
01:53Now, we'll go from that to Reuben Bain.
01:57So, the Lions GM has already stepped out talking about Reuben Bain's involvement in that car crash
02:06a couple years ago where somebody went into a coma, and then I think it was three months later,
02:11that person died, and the Lions GM said, Look, we've known about this for a long time.
02:17We have all the info we need.
02:19I know for a fact the Cowboys have also known about this for a long time.
02:24So, I realize this is a developing story out in the media world,
02:29but it sure does seem like teams have known about this, and the Cowboys have known about this for a
02:34while.
02:34So, I don't necessarily think that's going to impact their decision-making now,
02:40as opposed to, like, a month or two ago.
02:42When you sat down with them at the Combine or any other meetings,
02:48how would you discuss this?
02:50I mean, I think...
02:52And also, what other information are you looking for, driving record-wise?
02:57Yeah.
02:57To kind of see, have you grown up?
02:59Have you learned from this?
03:00Those are the things that I think is important.
03:03I would start by just kind of saying,
03:05Hey, can you walk us through how you remember that night going,
03:10and see if it just lines up with, like, the basic facts from the police report and everything like that,
03:14and then kind of go from there.
03:17Because, look, we all make mistakes,
03:19and if it was just a tragic car accident,
03:24like, that's a thing that, like, any of us could unfortunately be involved with.
03:29There was reckless driving is the word.
03:32Yes.
03:33So that happened.
03:34So why, what were you doing that was reckless?
03:37Yeah.
03:37Why were you being reckless?
03:39Yeah, was it speeding?
03:40Was it...
03:41Because I feel like if it was drinking and driving,
03:44then that's a thing where you're like,
03:46Hmm, how did that not come up for any prosecution or anything like that?
03:51And so, yeah, I would just love to get, first and foremost,
03:54his interpretation of the situation and see how he feels about it.
03:57Like, is that something he's like, I'll never forget, you know, February 8th, 2024,
04:02whatever the date was.
04:03And he was like, I think about that every single day.
04:05And then on top of that, the Cowboys have had a number of those types of situations.
04:10I think that, you know, I think in the NFL you probably see a lot of these too.
04:13Right.
04:14You know, we talk about the Chiefs.
04:18We talk...
04:18Sure.
04:19There's a number of these.
04:20Happens all the time.
04:21And I just wonder how much that changes a team's look now,
04:26or if they're like, No, it really doesn't.
04:28We just need to make sure that we have our bases covered in case we're asked questions about it.
04:32Now, of course, this is the time where there's all sorts of pre-draft visits.
04:37You have Mekhi Lemon going to visit the Dolphins,
04:40David Bailey meeting with the Titans last week.
04:44And I think we're going to talk more about this.
04:46Maybe not in this moment, but definitely more down the road.
04:50Albert Breer, in his latest draft notes column, said that the Cardinals, Titans, Giants, Browns,
04:59and Commanders are all willing, or at least listening, to ideas for trading back.
05:05Now, what's really fascinating is that's all in the same block right there.
05:09So 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.
05:11And we talked about a variety of trades for the Cowboys from pick number 3 to pick number 6,
05:18pick number 9, but it does seem like that block is available for business.
05:23And what I kind of wonder about that, too, is does that mean that people in the league have a
05:28good idea of who's second?
05:31Like, has it been decided that it's going to be David Bailey or Arvell Reese?
05:36I would imagine those are obviously the two most logical candidates.
05:40And are other teams adjusting accordingly?
05:42Like, did the Cardinals have their hearts set on David Bailey, for example,
05:46but now they know he's not going to be there, or they think he's not going to be there?
05:50And then they're like, all right, I'll listen if you've got something.
05:54I, maybe.
05:56What I love, though, even more, is it creates more leverage for a team like the Cowboys or other teams
06:04that are lower trying to get up.
06:05Because you don't have to just negotiate with one.
06:08Right.
06:09You can be like, all right, we're calling them now.
06:12Like, I got the Titans on the horn, and they'll do a round lower.
06:15Yeah.
06:15And I'm going to get the same guy.
06:17Yeah, this is actually a positive thing if you want to move up.
06:20I could see that.
06:21But still, I mean, obviously you'd love the opportunity.
06:25And now this actually throws even more chaos into the mix.
06:33Sure.
06:33Because whereas a lot of these names that we've been discussing might have been perfect
06:37guys for some teams, what if there's another team that's like, no, we want to go up and
06:41get a different person?
06:43Yeah.
06:43And that's something that they, and that shifts players down that we've been looking at going,
06:48oh, we finally have a chance to get Cale Downs because he got pushed down.
06:51And I know we'll only get an answer to, like, some of these questions maybe, but I also wonder
06:57if Cleveland at six, for example, is like, man, I got eight people stacked on my board
07:02between four and 12 that I think are all pretty much the same.
07:06Yeah.
07:07Yeah.
07:07Or four and 11, I guess.
07:09Yeah.
07:09No.
07:09And those are, like, if that's the case, if you have that, you can move down with ease.
07:14Yes.
07:15Yes.
07:15And you don't have to give a, you don't have to take that much.
07:18Maybe you can just get a, you know what?
07:19We really only need a sixth or, you know, something like that.
07:22I know the value chart's important.
07:24No, I understand.
07:25Now, let's go back to the Cowboys.
07:27Marquise Bell, over the weekend, he was arrested for possession of a controlled substance in
07:34a misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana.
07:37Good reminder.
07:38I don't know how much we'll be able to get out of this, but we'll give it a shot.
07:41We've got Stephen Jones coming on the show tomorrow.
07:44What?
07:46Around noon?
07:47It could be between 11.45 and 12.30, so hopefully you're toloing either way.
07:51But Stephen Jones will be on the show tomorrow.
07:54I'll be here tomorrow, then.
07:56Okay.
07:56So, if not for that...
07:58I was probably going to be here anyway.
08:00Okay.
08:00But I'm definitely, I'm definitely going to be here for that.
08:04Okay.
08:04I got to hear this.
08:05I appreciate it.
08:05And all the other segments?
08:07Yeah, yeah.
08:08Okay.
08:08Dude, I tolo, bro.
08:09Okay.
08:10Good, good, good, good.
08:11All right.
08:12The panel has ruled against the NFLPA saying that there was not enough proof of collusion
08:21going all the way back to 2022 because the NFLPA had argued that the contracts of Kyler
08:28Murray, Lamar Jackson, Russell Wilson were all too similar because teams had colluded to
08:34try to keep those values down at a time when I believe they were shooting for all guaranteed
08:39money, just like Deshaun Watson did.
08:42So, a panel has ruled, nope, and sorry, it only took us four years to get that answer
08:47back to you.
08:47I don't think they said sorry when they said that.
08:49Probably.
08:49They probably just accepted.
08:51You were probably right about that.
08:52What is the team in this NFL draft that you think most needs to draft a wide receiver?
08:59NFL.com only had six people answer this, so I figured you'd approve.
09:03They said the Saints, Commanders, Titans, Eagles, we'll get back to that in a second, and then
09:10two people voted for the Browns.
09:13At the same time, the Eagles did pick up Dontabian Wicks from the Packers for a fifth round pick
09:20in this year's draft and a sixth round pick in next year's draft, so I don't know if you
09:25view that as good enough.
09:27And then his agent, David Mulligetta, who pretty much is the agent of every player in
09:32the NFL, it feels like, got a one-year, $12.5 million extension for Wicks.
09:37I don't think that Steven will talk about the Angel-Reese trade.
09:41Oh, God.
09:43Should we ask?
09:44There's no way.
09:45But what if he started by being like, do you guys have thoughts on the Angel-Reese trade?
09:49I might fall apart.
09:53I want nothing more.
09:54There is no chance.
09:56And Steven Jones would be like, guys, first off, how about that WNBA draft last night?
10:05As we're talking about draft season.
10:06Yeah.
10:07But can y'all believe that that would be the greatest moment?
10:11I'm going to say a curse word and walk off.
10:13No, you won't.
10:14I could.
10:14You won't.
10:16I don't want to.
10:17You're better than that.
10:18You think, but it's happened before.
10:19You were a newsman.
10:22You have always been a newsman at heart, Kevin.
10:24And that way you couldn't leave a story like that behind.
10:28You would want to know more about his intrigue with the Angel-Reese.
10:31You'd be like, you know what?
10:32Now I need to know.
10:33But I'm afraid it would just slip out that I would say, are you effing kidding me?
10:37But like, not F.
10:39You know what I'm saying?
10:40I think that's a fair response.
10:42I think there is no way that that could conceivably happen tomorrow.
10:47All right, team.
10:49You've got to listen to find out.
10:50That's true.
10:50That needs to draft a wide receiver.
10:52Do you think the Eagles' pickup of Wicks mitigates any potential fallout if they trade
10:57A.J. Brown or not?
10:58Or is there another team you think needs to take a wide receiver pretty high?
11:02I think Vegas does.
11:03But they're going to take a quarterback.
11:06So.
11:07Yeah, look at that second pick.
11:09Hopefully for them.
11:10Yeah.
11:10I would assume.
11:10I know the Tennessee Titans make a lot of sense.
11:13It just doesn't make sense for them to do with the allotment of defensive players that
11:16could be there.
11:17Okay.
11:18Yeah.
11:19And to kind of look around at the, I think Cleveland makes a lot of sense there too.
11:23Maybe that's why they're trading down.
11:24Yeah.
11:25And that makes a lot of sense for teams that could be in that spot that would want to
11:29go down just a little bit because they are probably.
11:32Now, there have been times where you can say these wide receivers are too good to pass
11:37up on this high.
11:38But this isn't one of those drafts for sure.
11:40And that's another thing that like, if that team, I'm not saying this is the case, but
11:45if that team all thought like Lemon, Tyson, Tate, and hell, maybe even Boston were all
11:52about the same, then I could easily see why you'd be like, yeah, let's trade down.
11:57I think they're all about the same.
11:58Yeah, no, it seems like a lot of them are underneath the Cowboys that I think would need a receiver.
