00:00Right now, powered by Men's Tea Clinic, it's time for some Gridiron Gravy.
00:11Doooooooooooooooop!
00:12Yes.
00:14I don't know anymore, man.
00:16Isn't he kind of like it, just a little bit?
00:18Yes.
00:18Haaaargh!
00:21Alright.
00:23Let's start with Josh Allen.
00:28It's his birthday.
00:29I don't really care about that.
00:31But what I do care about is the most money earned on field by football players before the age of
00:3930.
00:40How many in the top five do you think you could tell me?
00:44Teams?
00:44No.
00:45Players?
00:46Keeping in mind, the whole genesis of this probably tips off one of them.
00:51Josh Allen.
00:53How many can you name?
00:54One.
00:55Alec, can you name two of the top five earners in football before they turn 30?
01:02I think so.
01:04Corey?
01:05Three.
01:06Alec, can you get four?
01:08I was thinking three and a half.
01:10Take the over.
01:11Three and a half is not a real number.
01:12I'll take the over.
01:13Okay!
01:14Dang, go ahead, dude.
01:15That's all you.
01:16No!
01:16Sucker.
01:17Geez.
01:18Go ahead.
01:19Okay, so Josh Allen.
01:21Josh Allen!
01:22I already said that one.
01:23Not on the...
01:24No, I'm just kidding.
01:24He is...
01:25I would have walked out!
01:27Oh no!
01:28He is clearly number one on the list.
01:32Two hundred and thirty two point six million dollars earned before his 30th birthday.
01:39Can I ask a question?
01:41Yeah.
01:44Sorry, somebody goes, hold on, is Eddie better hosting this show?
01:47Because it was so accurate.
01:49That's right.
01:51Are all of these quarterbacks?
01:53They are.
01:54All.
01:55That should help you.
01:56Well, thanks man.
01:58Um...
01:59Hmm.
01:59Patrick Mahomes.
02:01Patrick Mahomes is fourth on the list.
02:05He plays quarterback.
02:05That's true.
02:07Again, all of them will.
02:08Alright.
02:09182 million dollars.
02:12Rain Dakota Prescott.
02:14Not.
02:15In...
02:16Correct.
02:17Whoa!
02:17After that massive contract?
02:19Believe it or not.
02:20Because I think how it works is it still is broken down year by year.
02:27So...
02:28This one is too stupid.
02:29This is Burrow on the list.
02:30Joe Burrow!
02:31Number five.
02:33At one hundred and seventy seven point one million.
02:37One of these quarterbacks is not good.
02:39Oh, Trevor Lawrence is on this list.
02:41No!
02:41And I thought you were gonna guess Kirk Cousins.
02:44Oh.
02:44The other two...
02:45Deshaun Watson.
02:46Deshaun Watson.
02:47That is a lot of stealing money right there, dude.
02:49Is second on the list.
02:50Then Lamar Jackson.
02:51We forget about Deshaun Watson a lot.
02:54Agreed.
02:55Because he just hasn't played, but that dude has a lot of money.
02:58Yes.
02:59For not doing anything.
03:00First fully guaranteed all the way contract right there.
03:03So yeah, Josh Allen, Deshaun Watson, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, and Joe Burrow.
03:11This is...
03:12I think this could be awesome.
03:14I think you're awesome.
03:16Do you believe that the Cowboys could have the rookie leader in both interceptions and sacks?
03:25Because you know who thinks it's possible?
03:27The internet.
03:28ESPN.
03:29Let's go.
03:29Downs is gonna have both sacks and...
03:33No.
03:34How cool would that be, though?
03:35If he led the league in both interceptions and sacks?
03:39And we just sat back and went, see?
03:40Told ya.
03:41Even better than you thought.
03:42I thought, even in that case, I might have to be like, whoa.
03:45Even I didn't think he'd be this good.
03:47So, they have Caleb Downs tied with Trayden Stooks and Mansoor Delane,
03:54Mansoor Delane, with two interceptions.
03:56And that's the best in the rookie class.
03:59More surprising, though, Keldrick Falk, fifth in sacks.
04:05Akeem Mesidor, fourth.
04:06Reuben Bain, Jr., third.
04:09David Bailey, first.
04:10And Malachi Lawrence, second on the list.
04:13They have him coming in at 5.7 sacks.
04:16Now, that is a big jump to Bailey, who is projected at 7.6 sacks.
04:21But, second, predicted rookie in sacks.
04:26Tied for first, predicted rookie in interceptions.
04:28Could you see a scenario in which the Cowboys rookies lead both those categories?
04:35Yeah, because, A, they are going to have Downs playing where the ball is most active in the middle of
04:43the field.
04:44Like, that's just the reality of what's going to happen.
04:46So, he'll have some opportunities for that.
04:48We talked about this so much.
04:50That's where you want your playmakers.
04:52That's where Downs is going to be in that nickel area, but in the middle of the field.
04:56But he'll also have opportunities to shift, Alec, as we've talked, with Jalen Thompson.
05:01Sure.
05:01Move around and be able to dip back a little further and pick up some stuff in center field.
05:06Which, I know we didn't see a lot of footage of that before, but that dude absolutely can do that.
05:11When it comes to Malachi Lawrence, I think he's going to get most of his production on third down.
05:20Like, I think you'll see him getting those pass rush opportunities.
05:24I don't think they're going to say, hey, let's set the edge a lot for him early in his career.
05:28But I think they're going to say, hey, we know what you can do.
05:31You have speed, you have length, you can make it difficult on quarterbacks.
05:35But I'm not willing to say it's going to be a ton of sacks.
05:37Just because history has shown these rookies just don't come into the league and just rack them up like that
05:43all the time.
05:44Right.
05:45But I can definitely see it because the opportunities he will get will mostly be on those pass rushes.
05:50Plus, again, going up against quarterbacks that run.
05:55Quarterbacks that run aren't typically going to get rid of the ball before you get there.
06:00They're going to try and say, I can outrun you.
06:02And I think he's going to deceptively put some of those plays on them.
06:05So yeah, I can see those good numbers.
06:07Now, will that translate to wins?
06:09Don't care.
06:09Yeah.
06:10If they have those numbers and then they leave, that's cool.
06:13It needs to be wins.
06:14That's what matters.
06:15Now, I'm hopeful that this is the truth.
06:18Aaron Rodgers made it clear that while he's coming back for 2026, he said, this is it.
06:24This is his last year in football.
06:27I believe it.
06:28Okay.
06:28This is the first time he's said that.
06:31Every other time he said, I, you know, we'll find out.
06:35I'll see at the end of the year, et cetera, et cetera.
06:38I think he's looking at this going, I don't know if he's telling the NFL, y'all better
06:41start getting the boots ready for me and the badge and all that stuff.
06:45So whenever I come to your town, you give me my presence.
06:48I don't know that he's saying that, but I think it is more of a, I'm going to do everything
06:54I can to enjoy being in the locker room, being around the guys, walking out onto the
07:01field.
07:01I think I'm going to soak all that stuff in one more time.
07:04And I think that's him telling himself, this is the last, I think it's more him telling
07:07himself, this is the last time you're going to do it, buddy.
07:10Now, Clint Kubiak says some things that I care less about, like Kirk Cousins is the leader
07:16they have right now or that they're leaning on, but I care more about this.
07:21He told reporters yesterday that tight end Brock Bowers is a football robot from heaven.
07:26When you hear that phrase, obviously delightful, but also who else do you think of?
07:33Oh man.
07:33The first person I think of is Jason Witten.
07:36Agreed.
07:36Jason Witten, like every, you know how every coach would always, was it Garrett that told
07:42Jesse Holley, if I had a team full of Jesse Holley's and Jesse was like, but you have
07:46me.
07:46He's like, but if I had a team of you though, I'd be really good.
07:49One of you isn't going to work for us.
07:51It was all of you.
07:53We would get the number one pick.
07:55No, I'm just kidding, Jesse.
07:57I'm just kidding.
07:58I love you, man.
07:59But it was always, yeah, I just love that.
08:00Jesse was like, but you do have me.
08:02Yeah.
08:03I'm me.
08:03But it was always like, if every player just did what Jason Witten does.
08:07Right.
08:08If they all just did that, they'd be great.
08:10I love this game of who are the robots in your life, the NFL robots.
08:15Is it Aaron Donald?
08:17Aaron Donald was another person that kind of jumped to mind.
08:20Oh yeah.
08:20For me.
08:21He was kind of wired hot too.
08:23Yeah.
08:24Like he had, he had some, Jason Witten had the competitiveness in him, but, uh, but
08:29Aaron Donald had this.
08:30Yeah.
08:30Very similar.
08:31Very similar.
08:32Is Miles Garrett a robot or no?
08:35And, and that's a monster.
08:37I see.
08:37I think that's what the tricky part is.
08:38Do you mean robot in terms of like, just so relentlessly efficient at football?
08:43Or do you also mean like kind of straight away and emotionless?
08:48Because that will depend because if it's a second one, then no.
08:51But if it's just, you're ruthlessly efficient at being good at football, then absolutely.
08:56He's at the top of that list.
08:58Do you have a football robot from heaven?
09:01Uh, Caleb downs.
09:02Oh yeah.
09:03Caleb downs the future.
09:04And not just because we just talked about him, like the attention to detail that he
09:09has.
09:09Right.
09:10And like the morning show was playing the audio from his podcast this morning where
09:14he was like, I had no idea about the Cowboys Superbowl drought or any of that.
09:17He's like, I come in and I play football.
09:19Like that's my job.
09:21You know, like I'm a theorist.
09:22Yes.
09:23He's not a theorist.
09:23He doesn't care about your philosophical wants and needs.
09:26He's like, I come in.
09:27I track football.
09:28I hit people.
09:30I know my homes.
09:31My homes is the modern version of it, but his wife doesn't want him to be right.
09:35Oh, cause she wants him to like be out there and having fun.
09:39It's like, I want to go lift and do some agility drills.
09:42Will Anderson.
09:43I can see that.
09:45Yes.
09:45And the coaching version of this all time would have been Landry, right?
09:49Oh, Landry and Belichick.
09:51Belichick.
09:51Yeah.
09:51Yeah.
09:52Cause even Parcells has too many good one liners.
09:55Yeah.
09:56Oh, he's a, you can't program that much good stuff, but you could definitely program the,
10:01I'm worried about the bangles.
10:03Like we have an autographed, we have an autographed picture of Tom Landry in our offices.
10:09And even what he wrote is really nice, but it feels very Tom Landry.
10:13It was like, I have enjoyed our interactions through the years.
10:17Sign Tom Landry.
10:18And you're like, that feels like what he would say.
10:20That's what it says.
10:21I have enjoyed our interactions.
10:23Yes.
10:23That is exactly what it says.
10:25Through the years.
10:25It's a really, really nice photo too.
10:28We're the KNC masterpiece right here on 105.3 The Fan.
10:32Coming up next.
10:32How much do you think that thing would go for during Peace-A-Thon?
10:34Don't steal it.
10:36Oh, okay.
10:37For Peace-A-Thon?
10:37Yeah.
10:38Then you should.
