The K&C Masterpiece dove into some Gridiron Gravy and took a look at news from around the entire NFL. They discussed the computer-generated rankings that put the Rams and Seahawks at the top of the league, questioned where the Cowboys landed, and more.

00:00And right now, brought to you by Men's Tea Clinic, it's time to go around the entire NFL
00:07and dip it in some gridiron gravy.
00:12If you had to guess, what do...
00:16841.
00:17Ooh, that's a good guess.
00:19Two.
00:20That is less applicable in this question.
00:23Hoover Dam.
00:25I'm just guessing here, dude.
00:27If you had to guess, which roster is the best in the NFL per the computers?
00:30Oh.
00:31I figured if I asked it quickly.
00:33Best roster in the NFL, probably the Seahawks.
00:38Ooh, Alec, would you like to co-sign the Seahawks per the Nerd Brigade, or...
00:45What now?
00:46Would you like to go in a different direction?
00:49Ooh, um, I think the Seahawks is the safe pick, honestly.
00:54Actually, um, outside of that, I think in their division, I think the Rams make a ton
00:59of sense.
00:59Yeah, the Rams do definitely make a ton of sense.
01:01Yeah.
01:02If it's not the Seahawks, I'd go Rams or Patriots.
01:05Okay.
01:06You guys are right.
01:07The Rams do make a ton of sense.
01:09Because the Rams are number one on the list.
01:14Oh yeah, they added McDuffie, too.
01:17But you guys were...
01:18They're so good.
01:18You were close.
01:19The Seahawks are second.
01:21Ah, in your face!
01:22Makes a lot of sense, because they won the Super Bowl.
01:25Why aren't they first?
01:26Don't know.
01:27So, Rams won.
01:29Seahawks, two.
01:30The Bills are third.
01:32The Chiefs, hmm, are fourth.
01:36And then the Chargers are fifth on the list.
01:39Well, that's interesting.
01:40Where are the Broncos?
01:41Broncos are sixth on the list!
01:43Alright, because, like, the Broncos should have been in the Super Bowl.
01:48Sure.
01:49Probably could have won the Super Bowl.
01:51I agree with that.
01:51Like, that Super Bowl could have looked a lot different had Bo Nix not been in the Super Bowl.
01:55You think they...
01:57I know we'll never be able to prove this, but would they have beaten the Patriots in the AFC?
02:01Yes.
02:01Yes.
02:02Ooh, yeah, you feel definitive about that.
02:04Definitive, yes.
02:04Okay.
02:05Alright.
02:05And you know why I also can be that definitive about it?
02:08You can't prove me wrong.
02:10You're right.
02:10But I thought that...
02:11I mean, I think Alec and I were both on that wagon before.
02:14Even though he loved the Patriots going into this thing,
02:17I still don't know how he feels about the Patriots after this whole Vrabel thing.
02:20Okay.
02:21Now, the way this has been set up is the expected margin of victory over the average NFL roster.
02:29Okay.
02:30So, leading the way is the Rams at plus 6.3, Seahawks plus 5.3, Bills, Chiefs, Chargers.
02:36Where?
02:37Oh, where would you guess the Dallas Cowboys would be?
02:45Around 15?
02:48I would have thought the computers were doing a bit if they had the Cowboys at 16 or 17 with
02:54a zero.
02:55I really would have been like, okay, computers.
02:57I see what you're doing.
02:59Nice.
02:59Radiohead.
03:00That's right.
03:01They're a little bit higher than that.
03:04They're plus 2.3 against the average NFL team, which puts them in 14th place.
03:09So, a little tiny bit above average.
03:13Listen, until your defensive coordinator shows anything, for sure.
03:18Somebody was like, I don't understand how you can be confused about how they're going to use a player.
03:22And I was like, because I've never seen how this defensive coordinator uses any player.
03:26Not a single time.
03:28I know how he uses secondaries, but I've never seen anything else here.
03:32So, I don't know yet.
03:34But until A, we get to see a little bit of it.
03:38We don't know.
03:39And B, we get to see that those players have actually learned it.
03:43Sure.
03:44There's a difference between being in the right spot and knowing what play needs to happen.
03:49Those things are very important.
03:51And these guys are going to have to learn the defense throughout the year to be able to make those
03:55little things,
03:56those little adjustments that they're going to have to learn over a season.
04:00By the way, did I just say the Chargers have the fifth best roster?
04:04No.
04:05The computers said that.
04:08All right.
04:09Worst of the worst.
04:11They have good talent on that team.
04:13Yeah.
04:14They do.
04:14I get it.
04:15The Titans are the sixth worst, followed by the Raiders, Browns, Cardinals, and Jets.
04:23Here is where it gets staggeringly sad.
04:28So those teams are all around minus five points against your average NFL roster.
04:34But in dead last place, the Dolphins at minus 7.1.
04:41So there would be a touchdown underdog against the most average team in the NFL,
04:46where the Rams are about a touchdown overdog.
04:49I'm just kidding.
04:50I know it's favorite.
04:52Over the average team in the NFL.
04:54So Rams best roster, Dolphins worst roster, Cowboys close but above the middle.
04:59Dolphins roster going to be three-year project?
05:03Yeah.
05:04I mean, they have high expectations for their quarterback to just come in and rock based on,
05:09I don't know.
05:10Or spend the next three years losing and collecting high draft picks,
05:15and then in year three or four, picking that quarterback.
05:19Look, if you were ever going to do it for one specific draft, in theory, next year looks like a
05:24great draft to meet a quarterback.
05:26Yeah.
05:26Thank you, Jerry.
05:28All right.
05:29Let's go from that to we're getting more schedule announcements leading up to Thursday evening,
05:37where we'll probably know the whole schedule already, but then the NFL will tell us.
05:41The season's first Monday night football game, per Adam Schefter, September 14th, will be the Denver Broncos against the Kansas
05:47City Chiefs.
05:48This is the part that I found far more interesting than that.
05:51The game's site has still not been determined as the NFL is finalizing its schedule.
05:58I thought this thing was done like a few weeks ago, maybe a month ago,
06:02and that's why that one guy from the NFL is like,
06:04meh, this week, next week, week after, who cares?
06:08But, they'll tell you those two are playing.
06:11Where's the game?
06:12Can't say.
06:13Dude.
06:14That's weird.
06:15How long is the process of building the schedule?
06:17Man, there is a great, I think it's a 30 for 30 short,
06:21about this old couple who used to make the baseball schedule.
06:26It's really interesting.
06:28I'll have to look up the name of it.
06:29Yeah, it was these two people.
06:31Like when they had eight teams or whatever?
06:34No, no, like for the longest time,
06:35and then eventually MLB-esque hand them and it was really sad.
06:39But for years and years and years, they made the schedule.
06:43Just think about that for a minute.
06:45Like in the NFL schedule alone,
06:47you got that many teams plus every single concert
06:50that's in your stadiums around the country.
06:53That part sounds like the worst.
06:55Don't forget about the monster truck rallies
06:57and the dirt bike extravaganzas.
07:01That's insane to think, oh, we can't do it that weekend
07:03because we've already booked a monster truck rally, guys.
07:07Henry and Holly Stevenson made the MLB schedule for 24 years.
07:14And then they're like, nah, we're good.
07:17Well, at least they didn't assassinate them.
07:19Oh my goodness.
07:21I guess that's true.
07:23I am also glad that that did not happen.
07:25Would you rather just get kind of fired from the job you love?
07:28Than fired at?
07:29Yes.
07:30I agree.
07:31Now, the Bills will open up their new stadium
07:35on Thursday Night Football on Amazon in Week 2.
07:40They're going to host the Lions on September 17th.
07:44Wow.
07:45Something to keep an eye out on.
07:47Fox has picked up a couple of extra NFL games.
07:51So they'll have a couple of extra windows.
07:52Because remember we talked about
07:54there was just going to be this extra group of five games
07:56because the NFL likes money.
07:58And the thought was that it would go between Netflix and YouTube.
08:03So Netflix picked up three of them.
08:04And they're like, hey, YouTube, do you want to just split this package?
08:08And they just assumed YouTube would be like, yeah, sounds good.
08:10And they were like, no.
08:12And so then Fox came in and was like, whoa, whoa, whoa.
08:16I, we shall take those two extra games.
08:19Sure, they paid a nice little premium for that.
08:22And so you'll have two extra windows on Fox at some point this year.
08:27You think they got a discount, though?
08:29No.
08:29Hey, look, we'll do it.
08:31Yeah.
08:32Look, the NFL is FIFA, but people like the product on an every year basis.
08:38And they don't mind paying for it.
08:40So that's the comparison I'll make to the last segment.
08:42CBS also added a Saturday night game in week 15.
08:47So, Corey, I know we're not there yet.
08:50Still a lot of work to go.
08:51But slowly but surely, you are getting your hopes and dreams.
08:55Week 15, you said?
08:56Of that everyday schedule.
08:58It stinks, though.
08:58It takes away from college football, doesn't it?
09:00Or is that in the schedule window where college is kind of done?
09:04Yeah, that would be playoff time.
09:06So depending on, yeah, so there might be some crossover.
09:10So obviously this is what's going to clear the way for the European football division
09:15because then you can have those games on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and stuff.
09:19And then they'll be almost dominant over every single day of the week.
09:23By the way, Albert Breer pointed this out about the schedule release.
09:29He's really fascinated to see what they do with Christmas weekend.
09:32And are they going to have three games for Friday for Christmas Day?
09:38And would they have another game for Thursday Night Football on Christmas Eve plus games on Saturday?
09:45And if you still have Monday Night Football, you would be pulling out seven games already from that week.
09:53And then if you count Sunday Night Football, that would leave you with only eight games for the afternoon,
09:58which feels really weird because usually, you know, obviously you feel like you're getting like 12 games out of that.
10:04But just take a look at that week. It feels like it's going to be very loaded other places.
