00:00It's time to go around the entire NFL and dip it in some Gridiron Gravy.
00:03Dip!
00:06Dip it and rip it.
00:08Gridiron Gravy brought to you by Men's Tea Clinic.
00:12Thank you, Men's Tea.
00:13Guys, some good news yesterday.
00:15Unless you were hoping for a second-round pick.
00:18The Cowboys officially retained some much-needed insurance on Tuesday.
00:23Offensive lineman T.J. Bass signed his second-round tender.
00:26He will agree to about $5.76 million there.
00:31And Reddy Stewart, an exclusive rights free agent, also signed his tender on Tuesday, worth the league minimum.
00:38So, nice payday for Bass.
00:40He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon.
00:43And has done a pretty good job in his role.
00:45Reliable, backup, reserve role.
00:47And he's been in, what, 49 games the past three years.
00:50Started 10.
00:50And you might think to yourself, like, all right, now we got Bass.
00:56It's not groundbreaking or anything like that.
00:59But it is bringing back a good option on your offensive line.
01:02Capable option on your offensive line.
01:04And it stinks that you didn't get a second-round pick for him.
01:07Yeah.
01:07I think the good way to look at it, though, is a lot of people are going to see that
01:12money figure that he's getting.
01:14And be like, whoa, that's kind of a lot for a backup offensive lineman.
01:17But if somebody even misses a game across that offensive line and you plug him in, then you got yourself
01:25a very good value starter.
01:27You know?
01:28So, that's the way I'm going to look at it because he has played pretty well in the opportunities that
01:32he's gotten.
01:33So, I always love when this team loads up on their offensive line depth because it seems even in this
01:40phase, this iteration of the line, you've seen Tyler Guyton miss some time.
01:44You've seen guys miss time here and there, but that's a guy in Guyton that has missed extended amounts of
01:50time so far.
01:51So, knowing that, I'd like to have somebody that I can trust that knows the system.
01:57And then, if he does have to be a multi-game starter, that's really good value and you're not scrambling.
02:03You're not having to go put guys off of other practice squads across the league and whatnot.
02:09You got yourself a good piece right there.
02:10From the 945, famous words from Alec, at the end of the day, the day will end.
02:16I say it every day.
02:17I like it.
02:17Yeah.
02:18I like it.
02:18I say it often.
02:19Actually, I think I stole it from Reggie.
02:21There's a lot of things that, since he's not here, I feel like I've just gotten some sort of ownership
02:27of because he's not here to say them.
02:30There's a lot of Reggie-isms that just kind of got left behind in the studio.
02:33And I'm like, oh, I'll pick them up.
02:35They're smart.
02:35You know, Sean and RJ and Bobby were talking about that this morning regarding the draft.
02:38And we've kind of undermined it, I thought, because we've been so focused on defense.
02:44But I keep asking the question, as we've been seeing, you know, as we were getting closer to the combine,
02:48I kept asking, guys, what if there's an offensive tackle sitting there?
02:53Now, John Michauda told us the other day, he was like, I don't see them making, I think they pick
02:58up the phone and make a move out.
02:59You know, if that's the best player or they go with something else.
03:01Now that Mesidor has an option, this is something like we really needed to break our way.
03:07You really needed the medicals to clear out on him because he is that good of a player.
03:11He can play, Mesidor can play across the entire defensive line, actually.
03:15He's the perfect dude for your defensive front.
03:19Him and Ruben Bain went at it this year.
03:21Mesidor was awesome.
03:23And now that his medicals have cleared, it opens the path for saying at 12, if Montser DeLane, Caleb Downs,
03:31and Sonny Stiles are all gone, you don't have to get Jermaud McCoy, which we'll talk about at 120 today.
03:37Yes.
03:38Because the mock drafts are mocking us right now.
03:41So the Mesidor thing is a good thing, but that offensive tackle, you're still willing to give Tyler Guyton that
03:49time to grow and develop?
03:51Everything I've heard the Cowboys say says yes.
03:54I am.
03:55I know 100% that I am because I even pressed Jerry about it a couple years ago about how
04:01they handle offensive linemen in their first couple of years.
04:04They ask them to do a lot of important things and pick up things very quickly because a lot of
04:10the time, even if it is a day two pick, sometimes they're going to be asked to play very quickly
04:16and asked to be full-time starters.
04:18And for Guyton, we knew coming out of college that he wasn't the most experienced guy.
04:25He's athletic.
04:26He is very athletic for a big man, but he hasn't played the most football in the world.
04:30It's the same thing that we talk about with Joe Milton.
04:32It's like he's got all the talent in the world.
04:34In terms of actual time on the field, he doesn't have much, so he needs to learn.
04:40He needs time to develop.
04:42And it's almost like what Jerry loves to say about his defensive tackles.
04:46You know, you need to give them three years to figure it out.
04:48That's how I feel with offensive linemen, especially guys that play the tackle position.
04:53I feel like you need to give them a few years to really know, is this guy going to be
04:58a legitimate starter in the NFL or not?
05:00But you've seen it with some other playoff teams, and heck, they're already doing it with Will Campbell in some
05:05places, you know, with the Patriots.
05:06Just because he had a tough playoff run while playing injured, people are like, OK, so is he actually going
05:12to last?
05:12Are they going to kick him inside?
05:13And Mike Rabel had to be like, guys, he played one year.
05:17Stop.
05:19And I think you've got a good point there.
05:21The thing about it, you're right, too.
05:23His injuries have kept him from getting the experience he needs.
05:27And that's the question that I think they are said they're waiting on as well.
05:32Player representatives for the NFL Players Association elected former Cleveland Browns offensive lineman J.C.
05:39Tretter as their next executive director.
05:41I understand the responsibility comes with this role and how important it is to stand shoulder to shoulder with player
05:47leadership.
05:49Congratulations to them.
05:50Yikes.
05:51You don't like that option for them?
05:53I know the players don't.
05:55There's a lot of people that do not like him, do not like the decisions he's made as the man
06:04of power that he is.
06:06There's a lot of things that he's done alongside Roger Goodell that make me think this is just one of
06:13Goodell's right hand men.
06:15I even saw Benjamin Albright, who does radio in Denver.
06:20He's very plugged in with the players.
06:21And he said at one point last night, he was like, not a single player that I've reached out to
06:26is happy about this.
06:29So, yeah, the players aren't too thrilled.
06:31I know that he helped cover up some things for the league as well, including some emails, maybe.
06:37So, yeah.
06:38Where are the emails?
06:40Where are the emails?
06:42Ask J.C.
06:43Tretter, not me, because he helped hide them.
06:45And then lastly, how would you handle a new teammate that showed up on your team the day before he
06:55showed up on your team,
06:57said that he would beat the F out of you?
06:59Evidently, Jalen Waddell said he would beat the F out of Broncos cornerback Patrick Sertan in a boxing match.
07:07And then the next day was being traded to the Broncos.
07:11And I just don't know.
07:15Like, it could be a bit.
07:17It could be fun.
07:17It could absolutely be a bit.
07:19And I think it probably is.
07:20But even still, now in practice, don't you have to get out on the field and be like, hey, let's
07:26show them.
07:27Let's show everybody.
07:28I think it's a great thing for the Broncos.
07:30See, they were very good friends in college, both going to the University of Alabama.
07:36And I think this is a goldmine for the Broncos social media team now.
07:41Oh, yeah, for sure.
07:42Like, you have to, like you said, a training camp.
07:44You have to, even if you give them, like.
07:46Dangle some boxing gloves.
07:47Yes, like that.
07:48Anytime they're lining up in front of each other, like, add some boxing bell ring effects and stuff into the
07:54videos.
07:55Anytime Sertan jabs at the line, you know, make like a punch sound effect or something.
08:00I don't know.
08:00Or just give them those giant oversized, like, cartoon gloves where they can't possibly hurt each other.
08:06Be like, you have 30 seconds, go.
08:08You know, like, that would be hilarious.
08:11But, yeah, the timing could not have been more perfect for that.
08:15Literally, the next day gets traded to the Broncos.
08:19Absolute greatness right there.
