00:00Speaking of Andrew Barry, he spoke yesterday, alright let's do this first, with Miles Garrett and
00:06are you trading Miles? He goes, no, he's a brown for life.
00:10Miles is a career brown, he is one of the faces of our organization, I think we've been very clear
00:17both past and present in terms of our feelings. I understand all the questions, I'll be honest,
00:22I don't really want to waste a ton more breath on the topic.
00:25He understands the questions because he knows the team ain't good.
00:27So he understands, I don't think we should talk about it all the time because I think
00:32it's just dour and it's sad. You're talking about one of the greatest Cleveland Browns
00:36of all time. It's a killjoy, man. Good God, it's March 30th and if you were to talk, if
00:43you were to really trade Miles Garrett now, the season's done. Right? Does anybody think
00:48we would do anything without Miles Garrett?
00:50Outside of just Shador taking the leap in year number two.
00:54Exactly. So if you, if you traded him now, the season's over.
01:01That all pointed out. All right, let's, let's look at this realistically here. A lot of people
01:06are accusing Andrew Barry of lying to the media, lying to Browns. It's not about lying. You know,
01:12I'm sure he wakes up in the morning thinking that Miles Garrett is going to be a Cleveland
01:17Brown for the rest of his career. And then if Nick Casario calls him up and wants to give him
01:22something completely outrageous for Miles Garrett, then maybe we'll, we'll talk Turkey.
01:26I think that's the way he thinks. I don't think he's lying to anybody, but I also know that the
01:31reason he keeps being asked, and I know that some, I'm getting tired of it too. It's because
01:35you're not good and you're not expected to be good. And so as long as you're not expected to be
01:41good, fans want to see whether or not you're growing or you're dying. And as of right now,
01:46it would feel like, Hey, you can't say you're going to win anything without Miles Garrett,
01:50but you're not really winning much with Miles Garrett. And if you're not winning much with
01:54Miles Garrett, then why are we just going through the motions of the year? Why aren't we coming up
01:58with something that's really going to make it better? Because I consider and go, guys, you ain't
02:02going to get a lot of excitement for opening night or anything like that without Miles Garrett on the
02:06team this year. Yeah. But if you end up with three first round picks or something like that crazy
02:10next year and you have a quarterback class, like, yeah, that that's the way that a lot of people are
02:14going to think about it, Tom. It is. Um, obviously you're right. Like the, the, the moment you were to
02:19ever,
02:21actually consummate, Hey, Miles Garrett trade, you know, we're going to have full lines, all fire
02:26everybody, not renewing my season tickets. You know, I'm, I'm doing all that. And the Browns would
02:31obviously have to sign off on that. You know, Jimmy Haslam wouldn't know the type of consternation that
02:35was going to come in from every angle and it would be rough. It would be a rough go. Um,
02:41the,
02:41the season ticket office, that would be a rough one. You probably tell those guys go on vacation for a
02:46little bit. And then, you know, your only excitement would really be derived from what
02:51new receiver you pick up and whether or not Shador has made a leap and the, whether Judkins
02:57could come back from the injury fan. And like, there still would be, cause it's the NFL. You'd
03:00still have things people care about, but as far as going into the season, that's it. Cause Miles
03:04Garrett was such a cheat code. I mean, he won single-handedly won those last two games of the
03:09year against Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, just by showing up to the building, like showing up to the
03:14stadium on Sunday, they won those games. That's, that's the, the fear of God that the other teams
03:20had Aaron Rogers refused to play normal football for an entire football game because he didn't want
03:25to end up, you know, on a highlight reel and in the graveyard of miles scared come Halloween time.
03:30Like think about the profound impact. We all know how good he is. And so to not have that,
03:34you know, a lot of fans, it would just be a mutiny, you know, for others, they'd say, well,
03:40at least they understand where they're going with it, but that's certainly not going to help them
03:43and their excitement levels for this season. But also I would argue if you can get anything
03:47going offensively, him being on the field changes you dramatically for this year. If you could get
03:54anything offensively. So I've kind of kicked this around and I told you at the beginning of the
03:59show, I talked to, I talked to a Browns podcast Saturday, right? They'd be getting ready for the
04:07draft and they go, can you come on? Yeah, of course I'll come on. Yeah, fine. And usually I try
04:10not to do
04:11Saturdays, but they've been asking. I did it. Wonderful people. And I started to explain,
04:17and I kind of talked myself into it a little bit because I get excited about this stuff.
04:21What could they do in 2026? And if you've signed four free agents across the offensive line,
04:27you know, I'm nervous about something like that. So I'm going to pull back and say,
04:30you got to show me, right? But the way they could be looking at this is that if they draft
04:34card,
04:35say they draft car, I'm going to put a name to it. Carnell Tate, number six,
04:37say they draft Carnell Tate. Well, Carnell Tate, what he's expected to do as a six overall pick
04:42is bring some respectability to the defense that has to cover it. Meaning that you have to now
04:48watch where 17 is. And even he, if he's not open, he could still create opportunities for Harold
04:53Fannett Jr., for Jerry Judy, for Isaiah Bond. I know, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. He could also
04:58create opportunities to open up running lanes for Quinchon Judkins and Dylan Sampson, because now you
05:02can't just load up eight in the box to go up against your offense because you have number 17 on
05:07the
05:07field. You have Carnell Tate out there in the field. So that being said, I think that that's
05:12kind of the way Andrew Barry thinks about it. So no, I don't think he's going to be traded.
05:15I'm, I'm becoming more and more convinced that it's going to be wide receiver at six.
05:21They want to try to open this offense up. They believe that that will do so. It might not be
05:26the,
05:26the, the building blocks of success, the way I see it, but fine, that's the way they're going to do
05:30it. So no, you wouldn't trade miles Garrett then, because if you expect to be from winning five
05:35games to with your strength of schedule to with your quarterback. And I know we just had this
05:38quarterback situation here earlier today, your quarterback is supposed to take it from five
05:43wins to eight wins to nine wins. Maybe you're laughing by the end of all this. And if you're
05:46a nine win team this year, which seems to be pretty crazy, but that's got to be the way they're
05:51thinking of it. If they're not moving on from, if they're an eight to nine win team this coming
05:56year, then you're expecting to be better in 2027. So then why would you trade miles Garrett?
06:02Why would you? Yeah. I mean, the big part of the miles Garrett trade is I feel like has now
06:06just
06:06almost become common sense is the minute you trade him, your team gets worse. You have a much better
06:11shot to finish top three in the draft that everybody's going to be trying to finish top
06:15three. And then you get all the draft picks as well to go along with it. So more, more attempts
06:19at
06:20the, at the dartboard. And if you wanted to trade him, you could turn right around and go, well,
06:24Kenny, you could end up winning eight, nine games in 2027 regardless. And I would say, yeah,
06:29that's a great point. And you would have young guys, but you have to take guys that you're
06:33expecting to be able to eventually replace miles Garrett. And so it's like a two for one because
06:38miles Garrett beats two guys all the time. So it's two guys. Can they replicate? Well, he doesn't
06:43be a good quarterback. Miles Garrett does not beat. If you land that, if you land that big quarterback
06:47and you've got your franchise guy for the next, you know, who knows how many years, that's still
06:51going to be better than miles, which is crazy thinking of how impactful miles is and the best
06:56defensive player I've seen for the Browns and maybe in the NFL over the course of my lifetime.
07:02I know Reggie white would like a word, but Holy cow, you get a quarterback, right? That changes
07:06everything. But this is exactly why you're right. This is exactly why though. I think we're in a
07:10rock and a hard place. You know, everybody keeps bringing up, well, miles has a no trade clause.
07:13Why you keep first off, no one's going to want to care about the mile, the no trade clause. Cause
07:18nobody who's trading for him is a bad team. So it's only going to be a good team trying to
07:22trade
07:22for miles Garrett because they can only be willing to give up the exorbitant price you would want
07:28back for miles Garrett. So it's not going to be any bad team. No trade, right? Exactly. So he has
07:33to, he has to waive that, but it's not just that it's that Andrew Barry believes, whether I agree
07:37with him or not, or you guys that he has a vision here, you would be cutting off your own
07:43shoes to,
07:45to, for this season. And you would make yourself a lame duck general manager going into this year to
07:50make the trade. And let's be honest, if we're talking about two first round picks before,
07:54I think a lot of people think miles Garrett is more worth than that or worth more than that.
07:58So yeah, it becomes very, very hard to move on from. So I can't believe everything that comes out
08:03of general manager's mouth about trading a guy who's the best player on the football team.
08:06That's won eight games in the last two years. I'm not going to say, I believe Andrew Barry,
08:11which might be a problem, but I don't, I think that he believes that the most prudent move right now,
08:17until somebody comes with him, comes to him with an obscene price that none of us can even say off
08:22the top of our heads. Yeah. Miles Garrett's going to be a Cleveland Brown, but it is a, I know
08:27what
08:27you said about, you didn't see him being a Brown in two years. I do think it's a year by
08:31year basis
08:32because even if you do move on from Andrew Barry, I think a new general manager comes in,
08:37it goes with what you said. It's a year to year thing with, with miles, but I can't keep bringing
08:42it up in late March. It's just a killer for the fan base.
